Four studies demonstrate that people are more likely to buy (but not to buy more) when directly asked how much to buy in response to a set of purchase quantities (0, 1, 2 … *n*) than when first asked whether to buy in response to a seemingly innocuous yes/no purchase-interest question. This finding is explained in terms of response-scale partitioning. A purchase-quantity scale has a single negative (0) and multiple (n) positive response options. In contrast, a dichotomous yes/no purchase-interest question has an equal proportion of negative (“no”) and positive (“yes”) response options, the latter of which subsumes all positive quantity options into one partition. Ascertaining purchase interest using a single negative and multiple positive response options (“No”, “Mildly”, “Somewhat”, “Likely”, “Very”, and “Definitely”) eliminated the effect.

This document represents deliverable D2.2.3 of the Specific Contract F4E-OFC-531-02 - Neutral Beam Test Facility Diagnostics, Task Order No.2: SPIDER Diagnostics #2 and MITICA Diagnostics #1. The final design and as built drawings of the electrostatic probe prototypes for MITICA beamline componentsare reported, together with documentation of the manufacturing phase and the verifications and tests meant to qualify and finalize the design before series production.

For the study of electrostatic and magnetic properties of filaments characterizingthe edge region of the stellarator experiment W7-X, a specifically designedinsertable probe head was constructed within the framework of EUROfusion WP.S1 work package in collaboration between Consorzio RFX, IPP Greifswald and FZJJulich. The probe head, named High Resolution Probe (HRP), was conceived to beinstalled on the mid-plane multi-purpose fast reciprocating manipulator on W7-X. Electromagnetic filamentary turbulent structures are found to characterize theedge region of different magnetic configurations [M. Spolaore et al., PoP 2015] including Reversed Field Pinch, stellarator and tokamak, where strong currents areassociated also to ELM filamentary structures. The study of those phenomena inW7-X stellarator is of particular interest as the electromagnetic features offilaments are expected to become more relevant with the increase of the localplasma beta. In particular the aim is to provide information about the presenceand the features of parallel current density associated to filamentary turbulent or ELM-like structures. Furthermore, the possibility to measure the time evolution ofthe flow radial profiles using the Mach probe array was considered as a further interesting part of the study, given the strong interplay expected between theturbulent fluctuation and the average flows. Further important information provided is the radial propagation of turbulent flux. The contribution will present the design development, the R&D studies and theapplied solutions for the sensors embedded in the probe head. In particular, the presence of 140 GHz ECRH plasma environment represents one of the main challenges for reliable magnetic fluctuation measurements. First measurements were performed during the W7-X experimental campaign OP1.2b, where in particular the probe was exploring different magnetic configurations. The respective features of the electromagnetic turbulence will be compared.

Nephrotoxicity is a relevant limitation of gentamicin and obese patients have an increased risk for gentamicin induced kidney injury. This damage is thought to depend on the accumulation of the drug in the renal cortex. Obese rats showed substantially higher levels of gentamicin in the kidney compared with lean animals. This study characterized the role of organic cation transporters (OCTs) in gentamicin transport and elucidated their possible contribution in the increased renal accumulation of gentamicin in obesity. The mRNA and protein expression levels of the organic cation transporters Oct2 (Slc22a2) and Oct3 (Slc22a3) were increased in kidney samples from obese mice fed a high fat diet. Similarly OCT2 (~2 fold) and OCT3 (~3 fold) showed increased protein expression in the kidney of obese patients compared with non obese individuals. Using HEK293 cells overexpressing the different OCTs human OCT2 was found to transport [3H]gentamicin with a unique sigmoidal kinetics typical of homotropic positive cooperativity (autoactivation). In mouse primary proximal tubular cells [3H]gentamicin uptake was reduced by approximately 40 when co incubated with the OCT2 substrate metformin. The basolateral localization of OCT2 suggests that gentamicin can enter proximal tubular cells from the blood side probably as part of a slow tubular secretion process that may influence intracellular drug concentrations and exposure time. Increased expression of OCT2 may explain the higher accumulation of gentamicin thereby conferring an increased risk of renal toxicity in obese patients.

Technical Specifications for the manufacturing of the GG#4 replacing segment for the SPIDER Beam Source - PBS element: 53.SI.A1 - Scope of this Supply is the procurement of one Grounded Grid segment (GG4 replacing segment) for the SPIDER experiment.

This document represents deliverable T4.9/P1.1 of the NBTF Workprogramme 2018. The design and technical specifications of the electrostatic and thermo-mechanical sensor prototypes for MITICA beamline components are reported, along with a simulation of thermal measurements expected along the beam line.

This progress report contains the 3D CAD package of the MITICA beamline components (BLCs) developed under WP2016. This CAD development is part of the technical specification for the procurement of the three MITICA BLCs [1]. The CAD models are available in the compressed file "T4.3_P3_RFX_MITICA_CD_004 _BLC_CAD_r1.7z" that is attached within the present document. This version of the CAD models has been prepared by Consorzio RFX considering iterations and reviews of procurement documents carried out during 2016 with F4E and IO.

In this report the description o f the design improvements on the vacuum enclosure and signal feedthroughs are presented for sensors embedded in the beamline components of the MITICA injector. The presented solutions are proposed to fix the discovered issues and to improve the design befo re finalisation of CAD models.

This document is the design report for the MITICA B eam Source, related to design activities up to the completion of the design, occurred within WP-20 15. The WP-2014 activity retrieved the design carried o ut under previous F4E Grants and WPs, and developed it in agreement with requirements agreed with F4E and IO. This report has the main aim to present the final d esign of the MITICA beam source, coherent with the finalization of the technical specifications, h ence it includes design solutions developed not onl y during 2015 but also during previous contracts and still valid, thus showing the complete state of art of the MITICA BS design, i.e. the updated list of r equirements and interfaces, the description of the whole design and all the subsystems.
