International audience; This paper highlights the relevance of the articulation between syntax and semantics in proof and proving activities. In the first part, we define what we call syntax and semantics and we suggest other articulations on the proof. In the second part, we present a logical and didactical analysis of a university course entitled "Mathematical Reasoning". This analysis relies on three types of data: interviews with teachers, worksheets and an assessment test.

We study the question of modeling situations and object with stories in mathematic word problems. Our experiment shows the benefits of this approach. Indeed it leads students to build an expert eye on stories and problems written in theses stories. They make a difference between what belongs to mathematics in the field of fiction. This way, we present different experiment proposal in which we put down word problem in stories that came from children's storybooks., Nous étudions la question de la modélisation par le récit des situations et objets dans les problèmes de mathématiques. Notre expérimentation met en évidence les apports d'une telle approche en amenant notamment les élèves à acquérir un regard critique sur les récits et les problèmes de mathématiques qui y sont inscrits. Ils travaillent ainsi sur la détermination des données mathématiques à l'intérieur du champ de la fiction. Nous ouvrons ainsi plusieurs pistes pour la construction d'ingénieries da ns lesquelles nous proposons d'inscrire des problèmes de mathématiques dans des récits empruntés (ou non) à des ouvrages destinés à la jeunesse.

The study of the emergence of knowledges in teaching situations not finalized by a prefabricated and pre-thought knowledge requires an upheaval of point of view, epistemological as well as didactic. For the study of learning situations in which the problem is the essence, we develop a new historical approach and we rethink the tools for didactic analyzes. We propose, then, for a particular problem, exploration of Archimedean tilings of the plane, a historical inquiry centered on the activity of the scientist in the process of research and on the influence of the relationship with objects. From this perspective, the study of Johannes Kepler’s work in search of a world harmony is particularly instructive. We also propose, for the analysis of the emerging knowledge in teaching situations, to use tools related to semiotics, which allows to highlight the dynamic of evolution of mathematical objects. We can finally conclude on the opportunity to build and implement “Didactic Situations of Problem Solving”, which ensure the commitment of the subject in the research, the emergence and development of mathematical objects, the genesis of knowledges. The study reinforces the necessity of a pragmatic approach of situations and the relevance of a different look at the knowledge at school, Étudier l'émergence de savoirs lors de situations didactiques non finalisées par un savoir préfabriqué et pré-pensé nécessite un bouleversement des points de vue, aussi bien épistémologique que didactique. C'est pourquoi, pour l'étude de situations didactiques pour lesquelles le problème est l'essence, nous développons une nouvelle approche historique et repensons des outils pour les analyses didactiques. Nous proposons alors, pour un problème particulier, l'exploration des pavages archimédiens du plan, une enquête historique centrée sur l'activité du savant cherchant et sur l'influence de la relation aux objets dans la recherche. De ce point de vue, l'étude des travaux de Johannes Kepler à la recherche d'une harmonie du monde est particulièrement instructive. Nous proposons également, pour l'analyse des savoirs émergents en situation didactique, une utilisation d'outils liés à la sémiotique qui permet de mettre en évidence la dynamique de l'évolution des objets mathématiques. Nous pouvons finalement conclure quant à la possibilité de construire et mettre en œuvre des ≪ Situations Didactiques de Recherche de Problème ≫ assurant l'engagement du sujet dans la recherche, l'émergence et le développement d'objets mathématiques, la genèse de savoirs. L'étude nous conforte dans la nécessité d'une approche pragmatique des situations et la pertinence d'un regard différent sur les savoirs à l'école

Our thesis in mathematics education explores the relevance of story building as a pat- tern of thought and potential support for the construction of reasoning. We assume that establishing a narrative in order to answer a problematic situation is both a trigger and processing aid. Our main hypothesis is that the narrative act offers structured guidelines for the process of reasoning during problem solving activity. Several studies have indeed highlighted the heuristics and structuring functions of narrative. Relying on these studies we first characterized theoretically, and then tested experimentally a didactical environ- ment. We shaped the characteristics of this environment with the objective of ensuring a joint development between narrative and reasoning. The situation of problem solving we offer is built around a game. To address proble- matic situations, students produced descriptive (based on games already played) and anticipated (based on imaginary games) narratives. In both cases, the construction of a narrative is a powerful asset. Our results demonstrate that the story enriches, with the meaning of Hersant (2010), the educational environment. The act of narration supports the student's mathematical reasoning and justification. While producing different types of stories, students embrace the mathematical constraints of the situations and step back from the sensible world. No more restrained by material thinking, the students are more inclined to mathematical approach. Therefore, they develop or enhance their mathema- tical proving skills (example and counter-example arguments, mathematical conjectures and demonstrations, etc.)., Dans le cadre de notre thèse en didactique des mathématiques, nous explorons la per- tinence du récit en tant que mode de pensée et support potentiel à la construction de raisonnement. Nous soutenons l'hypothèse que lors d'une activité de résolution de pro- blèmes de mathématiques, la construction d'un récit visant à répondre à une situation problématique peut être un élément déclencheur, producteur et structurant du raisonne- ment. En nous appuyant sur différents travaux qui ont souligné les fonctions heuristiques et structurantes du récit, nous avons caractérisé au plan théorique et mis à l'épreuve ex- périmentalement un milieu didactique permettant d'envisager une co-construction entre récit et raisonnement. La situation de résolution de problèmes que nous proposons, construite autour d'un jeu, amène les élèves à produire des récits descriptifs (basés sur des parties effectivement réalisées) et des récits d'anticipation (basés sur des parties imaginaires). Nos résultats mettent en évidence que le récit enrichit le milieu didactique au sens proposé par Hersant (2010), en particulier au travers de l'acte de construction par les élèves. Celui-ci soutient l'établissement du raisonnement et sa justification mathématique. C'est en produisant différents types de récits que les élèves, tout en prenant en charge les contraintes ma- thématiques de la situation, s'affranchissent du monde sensible et s'engagent dans une véritable activité de preuve mathématique (production d'exemples, de contre-exemples, de conjectures, d'argumentations, etc.).
