Aim of the study: Screening for the prevalence and severity of TMDs in individuals. Materials and methods . This cross-sectional study included a cohort of 109 consecutive volunteer patients (28 male and 81 female), with average age 38.31 ± 12.625 years, who attended a private praxis in Iasi at least once within ten months (February 2023 – October 2023). Before the clinical evaluation, the patients were invited to fill out the TMD-Pain Screener completed by Fonseca Anamnestic Index, consisting of 10 closed-ended questions. Results Proportion of 43.1% had mild craniomandibular dysfunction, moderate and severe dysfunctions were less common, occurring in 12.8% and 2.8% of patients. Our study observed a higher prevalence of TMD among female patients. Conclusions It can be concluded that the prevalence of TMD is a significant concern (58,7 %) that should be deemed a matter of significant importance in dental medicine and addressed accordingly.

Aim of the study Treatment possibilities for complete edentulous cases by placing implants result in superior functional results, for better aesthetics, as well as stability, strength and support of prostheses and improved masticatory efficiency. Materials and methods The objective of this study is to highlight the importance of fabricating appropriate implant-based fixed prostheses through the appropriate selection and design of all their components in the treatment plan for our patient, with total edentulousness. A 56-year-old patient presented himself at the dental office, with complete edentulous status, in both arches, and the treatment was the “Fast and Fixed” option of “All on 6” in the maxilla jaw and “All on 4” in the mandible, with framework from zirconia and PEEK, respectively. Results The rehabilitation of complete edentulous status with fixed implant supported prostheses is one of the challenging treatments, because of the aesthetic and functional factors that should be considered. Conclusions There is a superior prognosis of oral rehabilitation with implants compared to traditional methods, and statistical data shown a high success rate of around 95% for 10 years. Fixed restorative systems on dental implants are considered the ideal solution for replacing missing teeth in the case of total edentulous arches.

TMJ disc displacement, which is a relatively frequent pathology, proves to be frustrating experience not only for patients, but also for dentists, who often lack sufficient expertise in this area. Consequently, they tend to refer patients to maxillofacial surgeons. Furthermore, there are instances where dentists are completely unaware of this pathology. Therefore, the aim of this study is to assess the level of knowledge among freshly graduated dental students regarding temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). To achieve this, a questionnaire consisting of multiple-choice questions was administrated to dental students who graduated from the Faculty of Dental Medicine at “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Iasi within the last two years. The responses yielded unexpected results, both positive and negative, leading to various conclusions. It became evident that general dentists possess limited knowledge about temporomandibular disorders. To address this issue, universities should prioritize incorporating comprehensive TMD pathology education, not only during programs addressed to prosthodontic specialists.

Restorative dentistry, in particular whole crown preparation is known to cause gingival recession. Inadequate partial dentures and soft tissue support can cause severe gum recession. Incorrect use of elevators in oral surgery procedures can destroy the alveolar bone of adjacent teeth causing recession. The aim of this study is to evaluate the cumulative factors influencing the final therapeutic success following the lowering of periodontal status with the type of prosthetic restoration performed.We evaluated a total of 80 prosthetic restorations, 20 veneers and 25 zirconia-supported ceramic crowns and 35 metal-ceramic crowns(CCM). The percentage of sites showing a periodontal space depth greater than 3 mm was lower in the porcelain veneer group. The frequency of periodontal pockets of 4 mm was 1% in the buccal surfaces of the veneers, 4% in the CCM buccal surfaces and 2% in the CCM palatal surfaces. There were no statistically significant differences between the determinations made at the sites assessed at the CCM level and those assessed at the veneers level. 1. Subgingival placement of prosthetic restorations has a negative impact on periodontal health and consequently on their aesthetic outcome. Ceramic veneers, due to their preparation requirements and the advantage they offer due to their all-ceramic structure, have the least impact on periodontal health status.

Thus, gingival hypergrowth should be considered as a particular form of gingival diseases. As mentioned in the presentation of gingival and periodontal diseases, hypergrowth can be determined by a large number of factors, the most common of which is poor oral hygiene, which through chronic inflammation increases the volume of gingival tissues, increases the bleeding tendency, the surface of the gingival mucosa lose the lobulated appearance. In the case of medicinal gingival hypergrowth, along with the inducing factor represented by the drug (nifedipine, phenytoin and ciclosporin A), poor oral hygiene has a primary role in its occurrence and development . The relationship between the extent and severity of gingival overgrowth and a variety of drug variables (dose, duration, serum and saliva concentration) is a controversial issue. Many researchers agree that there is a certain concentration of the drug in the blood, basic or threshold, which when exceeded can lead to the appearance of gingival hypergrowth and this concentration is variable from individual to individual .

Aim of the study: Treatment planning for dental implants involves the assessment of patient-related risk factors before formulating a treatment plan. This review aimed to evaluate the relevant literature and provide evidence-based information on therapeutic success in implant dentistry. Material and methods: A search of systematic reviews was conducted using a combination of terms and keywords. The primary endpoint of the study was implant failure and the requirements in choosing the ideal candidate. Results: Patient choice, the development of a personalized treatment plan and the physician’s increased attention to patient risk factors increase the chances of therapeutic success. Local and general factors are important Conclusions: There are many risk factors that the clinician needs to know and understand to counsel patients and that need to be taken into account in treatment planning and delivery. There is consistent evidence showing an increased failure rate in smokers, a history of radiotherapy, and local bone quality and quantity. There is weaker evidence showing a higher incidence of peri-implant disease in patients with a history of periodontal tooth loss. The lack of evidence definitively rules out guidelines for patients with autoimmune conditions where expert opinion recommends caution. Osteoporotic patients show acceptable survival rates; however, patients on oral bisphosphonates show a low incidence but high morbidity of osteonecrosis of the jaw. Emerging evidence suggests that there is a correlation between genetic traits and disruption of osseointegration.
