Metanephric adenoma presents as a rare benign tumor in children with differentiated diagnoses: Wilms tumor or renal cell carcinoma. When confronted with small renal tumors, whether they fall into one of these three diagnostic categories, tumor resection surgery with laparoscopic partial nephrectomy is considered a viable and effective operative approach. Herein, we report the case of an 11-year-old female patient initially diagnosed with stage T1a renal cell carcinoma with postoperative pathology results confirming metanephric adenoma. Successfully treated with laparoscopic partial nephrectomy, the patient showed no signs of recurrence or metastasis during follow-up.

Spontaneous idiopathic vulvar edema during the second trimester is a rare condition. The approach to managing this condition involves relieving symptoms, identifying underlying causes, and implementing appropriate treatment. Managing such cases during pregnancy is challenging because of concerns for potential adverse fetal outcomes. Conservative management expects the condition to be relieved spontaneously postpartum, whereas invasive treatment offers a more rapid resolution. Treatment choices are controversial because each method has its pros and cons and influences the delivery process to a certain extent. Surgical drainage becomes a viable option when patients are not responsive to medications. We report a case of spontaneous massive vulvar edema in a 22-year-old primigravida in her 23rd week of pregnancy. After ruling out other notable causes of vulvar edema, we decided to intervene using an invasive procedure because she complained of progressive symptoms and discomfort. Subsequently, the edema subsided postprocedure, and the patient experienced successful labor with no complications. This report aims to alert clinicians that drainage attempts should be considered in pregnant patients with worsening symptoms.

Prostatic abscess (PA) prevalence has decreased in the era of antibiotics. This condition is associated with chronic conditions, including diabetes, immunodeficiency, liver disease, or even severe diseases such as prostate cancer. Concomitant prostatic abscess and prostate cancer are very challenging to treat because of the lack of specific guidelines, significant complications, and controversial treatment approaches. By reporting a case with prostate cancer in the setting of a prostatic abscess treated successfully by surgery, we propose a 2-steps approach including transurethral resection drainage followed by laparoscopic radical prostatectomy.

Abstract Perturbations in the gut microbiome have been associated with colorectal cancer (CRC), with the colonic overabundance of Fusobacterium nucleatum shown as the most consistent marker. Despite its significance in the promotion of CRC, genomic studies of Fusobacterium is limited. We enrolled 43 Vietnamese CRC patients and 25 participants with non-cancerous colorectal polyps to study the colonic microbiomes and genomic diversity of Fusobacterium in this population, using a combination of 16S rRNA gene profiling, anaerobic microbiology, and whole genome analysis. Oral bacteria, including F. nucleatum and Leptotrichia, were significantly more abundant in the tumour microbiomes. We obtained 53 Fusobacterium genomes, representing 26 strains, from the saliva, tumour and non-tumour tissues of six CRC patients. Isolates from the gut belonged to diverse F. nucleatum subspecies (nucleatum, animalis, vincentii, polymorphum) and a potential new subspecies of Fusobacterium periodonticum. The Fusobacterium population within each individual was distinct and in some cases diverse, with minimal intra-clonal variation. Phylogenetic analyses showed that within four individuals, tumour-associated Fusobacterium were clonal to those isolated from non-tumour tissues. Genes encoding major virulence factors (Fap2 and RadD) showed evidence of horizontal gene transfer. Our work provides a framework to understand the genomic diversity of Fusobacterium within the CRC patients, which can be exploited for the development of CRC diagnostic and therapeutic options targeting this oncobacterium.

The application of robot-assisted laparoscopic techniques is new and generates numerous benefits for patients. Here, we summarise the experience of our first series through 52 cases of prostate cancer treated by robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) in the Department of Urology of Binh Dan Hospital, from December 2016 to September 2017, to study the learning curves of this procedure. In this clinical comparative study, 52 patients diagnosed with prostate cancer (clinical stage T1 to T3) received RARP with and without nerve sparing as well as standard pelvic lymphadenectomy. Patients were divided into 4 groups according to their surgeon (surgeons A, B, C, and D, with 22, 12, 10, and 8 patients, respectively) for comparison. Research variables were cancer stage, preand postoperative prostate-specific antigen (PSA) serum levels, Gleason scores, lymph node metastasis, estimated blood loss, surgery time, urinary incontinence, hospital stay, and complications. We examine the magnetic stability and electronic properties of Sr4V2O6Fe2As2 in the antiferromagnetic order of V, including the A-type (A-AF) and the checkerboard-type (c-AF), within the LDA+U approximation. Contrary to other reports, our data disclose that A-AF is more stable than c-AF for J in the range of 1 1:2 eV and U between 7 and 8 eV; likewise c-AF is more stable for the (U; J) sets of J up to 0.2 eV and U in the range of 6 8 eV. There are numerous energy bands crossing the Fermi level in the c-AF phase, suggesting a strong inter-band scattering which affects the high Tc superconductivity. Particularly, the calculated band structures expose the formation of a Dirac cone. Besides, the Fermi surface in both phases shows the multi-sheets character consisting of several hole-like cylinders around -Z and electron-like sheets at M and X points. The electron localization function study reveals that electrons are distributed in the high anisotropic frame and a large itinerant character of Fe 3d and V 3d dominantly favors the superconductivity in Sr4V2O6Fe2As2. We present results of ac-magnetic susceptibility, dc-magnetization, and magnetotransport measurements on a single crystal of a magnetic Eu(Fe0.81Co0.19)2As2 superconductor. The compound undergoes two phase transitions: into a canted antiferromagnetic state at TN=16.5 K and a superconducting state at Tc∼5.15 K in a zero field. Based on our experimental results, we conclude that Tc can further be increased up to 6.5 K with magnetic fields applied parallel to the ab plane of crystals. We argue that the tuning superconductivity may be actuated by suppressing the ferromagnetic component along the c axis of the Eu2+ moments, diminishing the orbital pair-breaking effect. The magnetic behaviour of the coordination polymer [Co(C3H3N2)2]n has been investigated by magnetization and specific heat measurements. Low-field magnetic susceptibility shows the presence of two maxima at ∼8 and 4 K (Tf), which reflect short-range low-dimensional antiferromagnetic behaviour and the existence of a spin-glass-like state, respectively. The latter state was observed by magnetic irreversibility in both the zero-field cooled and field-cooled data, and was also confirmed by specific heat measurements. The magnetic specific heat (Cmag) shows a lack of any long-range ordered peaks. Instead, a broad maximum near Tf was observed in the Cmag(T)/T-curve. Below Tf, the Cmag(T) data follow the relation: Cmag(T)/T = γ + AT. We suggest that the competition of the antiferromagnetic (AF) intra-chain and the ferromagnetic (F) inter-chain interactions in a low-dimensional arrangement of magnetic Co2+ ions can produce the spin-glass behaviour in the sample. The susceptibility data was analyzed in terms of a spin S = 3/2 Heisenberg linear-chain model with a small exchange energy and is consistent with the presence of both F and AF interactions. 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy and specific heat measurements were performed for the noncentrosymmetric superconductor Th7Fe3. An explicit increase in the center shift δCS(T), normalised spectral area A(T)/A(1.5 K) and electric quadrupole splitting ΔEQ(T) is observed below 60 K. The temperature dependencies of δCS(T) and A(T)/A(1.5 K) follow the Debye model for , whereas ΔEQ(T) can be described by an empirical T3/2 equation in both two temperature ranges 2 K–T* and T*–300 K. The behaviour of ΔEQ(T) can more willingly be interpreted in terms of the Fe3+ charge distributions on the singlet (dxy) ground state, the doublet (dxz, dzy) of T2g and doublet () of Eg excited states, characterised by respective splitting energies Δ1 and Δ2. It is shown that the excited energies deduced from the 57Fe Mössbauer data are in good agreement with those of Schottky specific heat. We argue that the anomaly detected in hyperfine parameters and specific heat substantially associates with change in the electronic state of the Fe atoms. We are convinced that a precursor crystal-electric field (CEF) effect has undergone before the onset of superconductivity sets in at lower temperature and the present results would spur new interest to researchers about the interplay between CEF and superconductivity in noncentrosymmetric materials. The magnetization M(T,H), specific heat Cp(T,H), 195Pt and 119Sn NMR Knight shifts K(T), electrical resistivity ρ(T), and magnetoresistance MR(T,H) measurements were performed on a polycrystalline sample of antiferromagnetic compound U2Pt2Sn with the Néel temperature TN = 15.7 K. It is found that the Cp(T) and ρ(T) data in the antiferromagnetic state may be interpreted with help of the spin-wave theory with a magnon gap Δ/kB ∼ 6-10 K. Furthermore, analysis of the experimental data allows us to conclude that U2Pt2Sn is a dense Kondo system, in which the exchange interaction, Kondo effect, and crystalline electric field compete with each other on the energy scale TN < TK < Δ CEF. The Kondo-lattice component of the 195Pt and 119Sn NMR Knight shift has been fitted to the two-fluid model for heavy fermions KKL ∝ (1 - T/T*) In(T*/T) with a characteristic temperature T* ∼ 80 K. Electronic properties of heavy-fermion state in U2Pt2Sn are discussed in the context of the Wilson ratio (Rw = 2.8), Kadowaki-Woods-Tsujii ratio [A/γ² ∼ 2.15 x 10-5 µΩcm/(mJ/molU K)² with N= 2], and an empirical ratio R = T*/TK ∼ 2.
