Quantum computing is a rapidly emerging and promising field with the potential to transform various research domains including drug design, network technologies, and sustainable energy solutions. Due to the inherent complexity and divergence from classical computing, several major quantum computing libraries have been developed to implement quantum algorithms, namely IBM Qiskit, Amazon Braket, Cirq, PyQuil, and PennyLane. These libraries enable quantum simulations on classical computers and execution on corresponding quantum hardware, such as Qiskit programs on IBM quantum computers. Despite the variations among these platforms, the core concepts remain the same. One notable challenge is the absence of a Python-based quantum interpreter to connect these five frameworks, a gap that remains to be fully addressed. In response, our work introduces a tool called Qinterpreter, accessible through a user-friendly web interface, the Quantum Science Gateway QubitHub, which operates alongside Jupyter Notebooks. Built using the Python Object-Oriented Programming System, Qinterpreter unifies the five well-known quantum libraries into a single framework. Designed as an educational tool for students and researchers entering the quantum domain, Qinterpreter enables the straightforward development and execution of quantum circuits across such platforms. This work highlights the quantum programming versatility and accessibility of Qinterpreter and underscores our ultimate goal of pervading Quantum Computing through younger, less specialized, and diverse cultural and national communities.

Las escrituras autobiográficas de contenido homoerótico han reflejado de manera constante las pugnas entre las identidades disidentes y los sistemas heteronormativos. El caso de Antes que anochezca (1992) de Reinaldo Arenas no es una excepción. Por ello, la hipótesis de este análisis plantea que el orgullo del sujeto disidente hipersexualizado –en este caso, un sujeto autobiográfico– aparece como una herramienta de desestabilización normativa frente los sistemas sexo-genéricos que promueven una masculinidad y sexualidad heteropatriarcales. En consecuencia, el discurso de Arenas incita a una relectura del cuerpo para desmantelarlo de las ataduras impuestas por los dispositivos del poder –en especial el que corresponde con la idea del “hombre nuevo” emanado de la Revolución cubana. Además, traza la representación de un sujeto disidente que no se ciñe a la ideología del Norte global, sino a una visión adherida al sistema del deseo mediterráneo, regida por la dicotomía sexual del eje activo/pasivo.

Epilepsy represents a challenge in the management of patients with brain tumors. Epileptic seizures are one of the most frequent comorbidities in neuro-oncology and may be the debut symptom of a brain tumor or a complication during its evolution. Epileptogenic mechanisms of brain tumors are not yet fully elucidated, although new factors related to the underlying pathophysiological process with possible treatment implications have been described. In recent years, the development of new anti-seizure medications (ASM), with better pharmacokinetic profiles and fewer side effects, has become a paradigm shift in many clinical scenarios in neuro-oncology, being able, for instance, to adapt epilepsy treatment to specific features of each patient. This is crucial in several situations, such as patients with cognitive/psychiatric comorbidity, pregnancy, or advanced age, among others. In this narrative review, we provide a rationale for decision-making in ASM choice for neuro-oncologic patients, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each drug. In addition, according to current literature evidence, we try to answer some of the most frequent questions that arise in daily clinical practice in patients with epilepsy related to brain tumors, such as, which patients are the best candidates for ASM and when to start it, what is the best treatment option for each patient, and what are the major pitfalls to be aware of during follow-up.

We show that several Hamiltonians that are symmetric may be taken to Hermitian Hamiltonians via a non-unitary transformation and vice versa. Therefore, a recipe to produce tractable non-Hermitian Hamiltonians is given (a set of instructions to do it yourself). We also show that for some specific Hamiltonians such non-unitary transformations may be associated, via a fractional-Wick rotation, to complex time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this work, we consider a single unitary transformation that enables us to diagonalize the Dirac Hamiltonian with an even potential. Its diagonal matrix elements are translated to the optical domain, which leads to a direct mapping onto a lattice with interactions to second neighbours. Consequently, Bloch oscillations arise naturally, if we consider a quadratic potential.

Autobiographical writings with homoerotic content have constantly reflected the struggles between dissident identities and heteronormative systems. The case of Antes que anochezca (1992) by Reinaldo Arenas is no exception. Therefore, the hypothesis of this analysis states that the pride of the hypersexualized dissident subject --in this case, an autobiographical subject-- appears as a tool of normative destabilization in the face of sex-gender systems that promote heteropatriarchal masculinity and sexuality. Consequently, Arenas' speech incites a rereading of the body to dismantle it from the bonds imposed by the devices of power --especially that which corresponds to the idea of the "hombre nuevo" emanating from the Cuban Revolution--. It also traces the representation of a dissident subject that does not adhere to the ideology of the global North, but rather to a vision adhered to the system of Mediterranean desire, governed by the sexual dichotomy of the active/passive axis. Este artículo estudia la representación de las identidades en el cuento “Amor propio” de Enrique Serna que está incluido en el volumen Amores de segunda mano (1991). A partir del análisis de las identidades de los dos personajes de dicho relato, con base en el marco teórico propuesto por los estudios queer, se demuestra que la diégesis apunta a señalar cómo los sujetos están sometidos a un dispositivo de género que determina su existencia; en consecuencia, el concepto de performatividad, que alude a la construcción cultural que sustenta la determinación de los roles de los sujetos, cobra sentido cuando el cuento pone en tela de juicio las identidades fijas y critica la naturalización del género. Por tanto, “Amor propio” exhibe cómo el individuo es construido a partir de identidades convencionales y se convierte en sujeto del entramado simbólico y físico del dispositivo de la sexualidad, todo ello mediante una alusión tácita a las relaciones y construccciones de género.

Summary: Automated seizure detection in long-term video-EEG recordings is far from being integrated into common clinical practice. Here, we leverage classical and state-of-the-art complexity measures to robustly and automatically detect seizures from scalp recordings. Brain activity is scored through eight features, encompassing traditional time domain and novel measures of recurrence. A binary classification algorithm tailored to treat unbalanced dataset is used to determine whether a time window is ictal or non-ictal from its features. The application of the algorithm on a cohort of ten adult patients with focal refractory epilepsy indicates sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of 90%, along with a true alarm rate of 95% and less than four false alarms per day. The proposed approach emphasizes ictal patterns against noisy background without the need of data preprocessing. Finally, we benchmark our approach against previous studies on two publicly available datasets, demonstrating the good performance of our algorithm.
