The paper argues that it initiates the rational acceptance of existing circumstances by state, regional and local administrations, expert, planning, urban and other services in a multidisciplinary sense on the one hand, but also on the public and citizens on the other, that it is a serious problem revitalization and creation of conditions for spatial development can not be accessed without serious cuts and breaks with an enormous perception of administrative boundaries, disregard of territorial competencies, impossibility of diversion of the purpose of space, and abuses in property - legal regulation, regardless of whether the state is in question, legal or natural person. In this sense, suggestions to the Administrations, from the State administration to the Local self-governments, may be related to the introduction of different and innovative approaches, more or less radical, with the aim of revitalizing and healthy development of rural areas and settlements in them. Some of the measures or steps that could be taken are: 1. Rationalization of modern construction and interventions in space; 2. Utilizing the premises of the inherited traditional fund; 3. Restoration of local ethnological identity and forcing the image; 4. Further designed urbanization of the centers of the settlement; 5. Proper change of purpose or user part of existing suprastructure., Рад претендује да иницира рационално прихватање постојећих окол- ности, од стране државне, регионалних и локалних администрација, струч- них, планерских, урбанистичких и других служби у вишедисциплинарном смислу на једној страни, али и јавности и грађана на другој страни, да је озбиљном проблему ревитализације и стварању услова за просторни раз- вој немогуће приступити без озбиљних резова и раскида са окошталим поимањем административних граница, непоштовањем територијалних надлежности, немогућношћу промене намене простора, и злоупотребама у имовинско – правној регулативи, без обзира да ли је у питању држава, правно или физичко лице. У том смислу могуће су сугестије управама, од државне администрације, до локалних самоуправа, везане за увођење другачијих па и инова- тивних приступа, мање или више радикалних, у циљу ревитализације и здравог развоја руралних подручја и насеља у њима. Поједине од мера или корака који би се могли предузети су: 1. Рационализација савременог грађења и интервенција у простору; 2. Искоришћавање простора наслеђеног традиционалног фонда; 3. Обнављање локалног етнолошког идентитета и форсирање имиџа; 4. Даља осмишљена урбанизација центара насеља; 5. Правилна промена намене или корисника дела постојеће супра- структуре.

This technical report documents the result of an investigation to determine the potential flood situation along Big Sister Creek, within the Village of Angola, Erie County, New York. This study reach includes Big Sister Creek from the downstream corporate boundary of Angola/Town of Evans to the upstream corporate boundary. This report identifies the 100 years and 500 years flood plains for the reaches studied.

Pursuant to the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Act (Public Law 101.510) and the base closure decisions approved by Congress in October 1993, the Department of Defense Housing Facility Novato (DODHF Novato) in Novato, California, was closed in September 1996. DODHF Novato includes two Navy-owned areas at the former Hamilton Air Force Base- the Main Site property and the off-site Rafael Village housing property. This environmental impact statement (EIS) has been prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act to analyze the potential significant environmental consequences from the proposed Navy disposal of federal surplus property and structures and community reuse of DODHF Novato property. The City of Novato may use this EIS in place of an environmental impact report, pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines, Section 15221., Original contains color plates. Experiments were conducted to determine the response of a laminated target to small arms fire. The target represented tile ceiling used to separate tile floors of a two-story building in a live fire village at Fort Drum, New York. The target consisted of 3/4-in plywood, a steel plate, a second piece of 3/4-in plywood, a second steel plate, and a third piece of 3/4-in plywood. The tests were conducted to establish whether this target would protect troops in the building against the accidental discharge of small arms weapons being fired from one floor to the other. The tests showed that use of 1/4-in mild steel in the laminate will stop 5.56-mm ammunition, and that 1/2-in steel will stop 7.62-mm ammunition.

This reconnaissance scope study was conducted under the special continuing authority contained in Section 205 of the 1948 Flood Control Act, as amended. It investigated alternative measures to eliminate recurring ice jam flood damages to the Village of Baltic in Sprague, Connecticut. We have concluded that a plan utilizing ice retention structures has sufficient economic justification to continue into a feasibility study. However, the State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection and town of Sprague have agreed to undertake the design and construction of the ice jam control structure on the Shetucket River without further Corps assistance. Therefore, Corps of Engineers involvement was terminated.

THIS REPORT IS A STUDY OF URBAN COMBAT DURING THE Syrian Army's 1981 siege of Christian paramilitary forces in a Lebanese town. Weapons, tactics, communications, and psychological operations are addressed. The study further reveals the influence of political considerations on urban military operations during a limited conflict.

Schistosomiasis haematobium has been endemic in the lower part of the NIle valley at least since pharaonic times and now probably affects more people in Egypt than in any other country. Although the ancient Egyptians had developed a sophisticated medical system and used various plant medicines for parasitic infections ans possibly preventive measures for haematuria and many peoples in Africa still treat vesical schistosomiasis with herbal remedies, no study has been made of disease concepts and treatment practices of the Egyptian fellahin. This is regrettable since the large farming population is, with the possible exception of boatman and fisherman, the most heavily infected segment of the Egyptian population and schistosomiasis control programmes in Egypt have been hindered by many human problems. During a longitudinal study of the relationship between human water contact and S. haematobium infection in El Ayaisha village in Upper Egypt, we found that some people use local plant remedies in addition to synthetic antischistosomal compounds and that their water use behavior is influenced by various beliefs and customs. The purpose of this reprinted paper is to describe prevailing disease concepts and treatment practices in relation to S. haematobium infection in El Ayaisha and several other villages in Upper Egypt. S. haematobium prevalence rates were 27% in the general population and 70-5% in schoolboys aged 10 years, similar to the rates in two nearby villages and many other communities in Upper Egypt.

This is one of two reports from a research project designed to collect cultural data on rural Vietnamese--data which can be used to improve the effectiveness of psychological operations. The purpose of this report is to illustrate how the data obtained in the study can be employed in psychological operations. The data collected in the field study are presented in summary form only. To obtain this basic information, a team of researchers spent eight months in the Mekong Delta collecting data in three hamlets--one Buddhist, one Catholic, and one Cao Dai. All of the data were obtained from selected samples of the population by standardized face-to-face interviews administered by trained Vietnamese interviewers.
