International audience; Total absorption gamma-ray spectroscopy is used to measure accurately the intensity of γ emission from neutron-unbound states populated in the β-decay of delayed-neutron emitters. From the comparison of this intensity with the intensity of neutron emission a constraint on the (n, γ) cross section for highly unstable neutron-rich nuclei can be deduced. A surprisingly large γ branching was observed for a number of isotopes which might indicate the need to increase by a large factor the Hauser-Feshbach (n, γ) cross-section estimates that impact on r process abundance calculations.

We investigate the decay of 87,88Br and 94Rb using total absorption γ -ray spectroscopy. These important fission products are β-delayed neutron emitters. Our data show considerable βγ intensity, so far unobserved in high-resolution γ -ray spectroscopy, from states at high excitation energy. We also find significant differences with the β intensity that can be deduced from existing measurements of the β spectrum. We evaluate the impact of the present data on reactor decay heat using summation calculations. Although the effect is relatively small it helps to reduce the discrepancy between calculations and integral measurements of the photon component for 235U fission at cooling times in the range 1–100 s. We also use summation calculations to evaluate the impact of present data on reactor antineutrino spectra. We find a significant effect at antineutrino energies in the range of 5 to 9 MeV. In addition, we observe an unexpected strong probability for γ emission from neutron unbound states populated in the daughter nucleus. The γ branching is compared to Hauser-Feshbach calculations, which allow one to explain the large value for bromine isotopes as due to nuclear structure. However the branching for 94Rb, although much smaller, hints of the need to increase the radiative width γ by one order of magnitude. This increase in γ would lead to a similar increase in the calculated (n,γ ) cross section for this very neutron-rich nucleus with a potential impact on r process abundance calculations.

At Turku PET Centre automation for handling solid targets for the production of (64)Cu has been built. The system consists of a module for moving the target from the irradiation position into a lead transport shield and a robotic-arm assisted setup for moving the target within radiochemistry laboratory. The main motivation for designing automation arises from radiation hygiene.

Introduction Renal localization of high radioactivity levels during targeted imaging compromises tissue visualization in the kidney region and limits diagnostic accuracy. Radioiodinated antibody fragments with a renal enzyme-cleavable N e -maleoyl-l-lysyl-glycine (MAL) linkage demonstrated low renal radioactivity levels in mice, from early postinjection times. This study tested the hypothesis whether a 64 Cu-labeled NODAGA-exendin-4 peptide with a MAL linkage ([ 64 Cu]NODAGA-MAL-exendin-4) could decrease kidney radioactivity levels in rats, compared to a [ 64 Cu]NODAGA-exendin-4 reference, without impairing the radioactivity levels in the target tissue. Methods NODAGA-MAL-exendin-4 was synthesized in a two-phase approach using solid support to prepare maleoyl-derivatized NODAGA followed by Michael addition to cysteine-derivatized exendin-4 in solution. Radiolabeling was performed in buffered aqua with [ 64 Cu]CuCl 2 , which was produced via the 64 Ni(p,n) 64 Cu nuclear reaction. The in vitro and in vivo stability, lipophilicity, and distribution kinetics in major rat organs for [ 64 Cu]NODAGA-MAL-exendin-4 were studied and compared to [ 64 Cu]NODAGA-exendin-4. Labeling of pancreatic islets was assessed using autoradiography. Results NODAGA-MAL-exendin-4 was synthesized, with an overall yield of 9%, and radiolabeled with 64 Cu with high specific radioactivity. Serum incubation studies showed high stability for [ 64 Cu]NODAGA-MAL-exendin-4. Similar tissue distribution kinetics was observed for [ 64 Cu]NODAGA-MAL-exendin-4 and [ 64 Cu]NODAGA-exendin-4, with high kidney radioactivity levels. Conclusions The incorporated MAL linkage in [ 64 Cu]NODAGA-MAL-exendin-4 was unable to reduce kidney radioactivity levels, compared to [ 64 Cu]NODAGA-exendin-4. The applicability of metabolizable linkages in the design of kidney-saving exendin-4 analogs requires further investigation.

International audience; The accurate determination of reactor antineutrino spectra remains a very active research topic for which new methods of study have emerged in recent years. Indeed, following the long-recognized reactor anomaly (measured antineutrino deficit in short baseline reactor experiments when compared with spectral predictions), the three international reactor neutrino experiments Double Chooz, Daya Bay and Reno have recently demonstrated the existence of spectral distortions in their measurements with respect to the same predictions. These spectral predictions were obtained through the conversion of integral beta-energy spectra obtained at the ILL research reactor. Several studies have shown that the underlying nuclear physics required for the conversion of these spectra into antineutrino spectra is not totally understood. An alternative to such converted spectra is a complementary approach that consists of determining the antineutrino spectrum by means of the measurement and processing of nuclear data. The beta properties of some key fission products suffer from the pandemonium effect which can be circumvented by the use of the Total Absorption Gamma-ray Spectroscopy technique (TAGS). The two main contributors to the Pressurized Water Reactor antineutrino spectrum in the region where the spectral distortion has been observed are 92Rb and 142Cs, which have been measured at the radioactive beam facility of the University of Jyväskylä in two TAGS experiments. We present the results of the analysis of the TAGS measurements of the β-decay properties of 92Rb along with preliminary results on 142Cs and report on the measurements already performed.

The masses of 80, 81, 82, 83Y, 83, 84, 85, 86, 88Zr and 85, 86, 87, 88Nb have been measured with a typical precision of 7keV by using the Penning trap setup at IGISOL. The mass of 84Zr has been measured for the first time. These precise mass measurements have improved Sp and QEC values for astrophysically important nuclides.

Item does not contain fulltext PURPOSE: Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) is a molecular target for imaging of pancreatic beta cells. We compared the ability of [Nle(14),Lys(40)(Ahx-NODAGA-(64)Cu)NH2]-exendin-4 ([(64)Cu]NODAGA-exendin-4) and [Nle(14),Lys(40)(Ahx-NODAGA-(68)Ga)NH2]-exendin-4 ([(68)Ga]NODAGA-exendin-4) to detect native pancreatic islets in rodents. PROCEDURES: The stability, lipophilicity and affinity of the radiotracers to the GLP-1R were determined in vitro. The biodistribution of the tracers was assessed using autoradiography, ex vivo biodistribution and PET imaging. Estimates for human radiation dosimetry were calculated. RESULTS: We found GLP-1R-specific labelling of pancreatic islets. However, the pancreas could not be visualised in PET images. The highest uptake of the tracers was observed in the kidneys. Effective dose estimates for [(64)Cu]NODAGA-exendin-4 and [(68)Ga]NODAGA-exendin-4 were 0.144 and 0.012 mSv/MBq, respectively. CONCLUSION: [(64)Cu]NODAGA-exendin-4 might be more effective for labelling islets than [(68)Ga]NODAGA-exendin-4. This is probably due to the lower specific radioactivity of [(68)Ga]NODAGA-exendin-4 compared to [(64)Cu]NODAGA-exendin-4. The radiation dose in the kidneys may limit the use of [(64)Cu]NODAGA-exendin-4 as a clinical tracer. 01 april 2014

The $\ensuremath{\beta}$-feeding probabilities for three important contributors to the decay heat in nuclear reactors, namely ${}^{102,104,105}$Tc, have been measured using the total absorption spectroscopy technique. For the measurements, sources of very high isobaric purity have been obtained using a Penning trap (JYFLTRAP). A detailed description of the data analysis is given and the results are compared with high-resolution measurements and theoretical calculations.

The electron capture decay branch of ${}^{116}$In has been measured to be $[2.46\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.44(\mathrm{stat}.)\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.39(\mathrm{syst}.)]\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$ using Penning trap-assisted decay spectroscopy. The corresponding Gamow-Teller transition strength is shown to be compatible with the most recent value extracted from the $(p,n)$ charge-exchange reaction, providing a resolution to longstanding discrepancies. This transition can now be used as a reliable benchmark for nuclear-structure calculations of the matrix element for the neutrinoless double-$\ensuremath{\beta}$ decay of ${}^{116}$Cd and other nuclides.

The excited levels of ${}^{115}$Ag have been studied via the beta decay of ${}^{115}$Pd and ${}^{115}$Pd${}^{m}$. The beta-decay schemes for both states have been considerably extended, especially the scheme following the decay of ${}^{115}$Pd${}^{m}$ which was practically unknown before this work. Transition intensities and ${\mathrm{log}}_{10}ft$ values are reported, which have been missing in the literature. A set of levels around 2 MeV has been found to be strongly populated by the beta decay of the ground state of ${}^{115}$Pd and is suggested to have a three-quasiparticle nature. The properties of excited levels have been compared with the level systematics of lighter neutron-rich silver isotopes, and new spin assignments as well as identification of Nilsson states in ${}^{115}$Ag have been made.

Penning-trap measurements on stable 92, 94-98, 100Mo isotopes have been performed with relative accuracy of \ensuremath1⋅10−8\ensuremath1⋅10−8 with the JYFLTRAP Penning-trap mass spectrometer by using 85Rb as a reference. The Mo isotopes have been found to be about 3keV more bound than given in the Atomic Mass Evaluation 2003 (AME03). The results confirm that the discrepancy between the ISOLTRAP and JYFLTRAP data for 101-105Cd isotopes was due to an erroneous value in the AME03 for 96Mo used as a reference at JYFLTRAP. The measured frequency ratios of Mo isotopes have been used to update mass-excess values of 30 neutron-deficient nuclides measured at JYFLTRAP. peerReviewed

This article reviews the decay studies of neutron-deficient nuclei within the mass region \ensuremathA=56--100 performed at the Ion-Guide Isotope Separator On-Line (IGISOL) facility in the University of Jyväskylä over last 25 years. Development from He-jet measurements to on-line mass spectrometry, and eventually to atomic mass measurements and post-trap spectroscopy at IGISOL, has yielded studies of around 100 neutron-deficient nuclei over the years. The studies form a solid foundation to astrophysical rp -process path modelling. The focus is on isomers studied either via spectroscopy or via Penning-trap mass measurements. The review is complemented with recent results on the ground and isomeric states of 90Tc . The excitation energy of the low-spin isomer in 90Tc has been measured as \ensuremathEx=144.1(17) keV with JYFLTRAP double Penning trap and the ground state of 90Tc has been confirmed to be the (8+) state with a half-life of \ensuremathT1/2=49.2(4) s. Finally, the mass-excess results for the spin-gap isomers 53Co m and 95Pd m and implications from the JYFLTRAP mass measurements for the (21+) isomer in 94Ag are discussed. peerReviewed

Monoisotopic samples of ${}^{109}$Mo nuclei, produced in the deuteron-induced fission of ${}^{238}$U and separated using the IGISOL mass separator coupled to a Penning trap, were used to perform $\ensuremath{\beta}$- and $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-coincidence spectroscopy of ${}^{109}$Tc. Spin and parity 5/2${}^{+}$ for the ground state of ${}^{109}$Mo, proposed earlier, are supported in the present work. Three new low-energy levels observed in ${}^{109}$Tc are interpreted as bandheads of the $\ensuremath{\pi}3/{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}$[301], $\ensuremath{\pi}5/{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}$[303], and $\ensuremath{\pi}1/{2}^{+}$[431] configurations, respectively. A further three levels observed around 0.4 MeV are interpreted as $K=1/2$ triaxial excitations. A similar interpretation is proposed for an analogous set of three levels observed in ${}^{107}$Tc in another ${\ensuremath{\beta}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ decay work. The systematics of these excitations breaks down in ${}^{111}$Tc, most likely due to a transition from prolate to oblate deformation. An excitation at 745.0 keV in ${}^{109}$Tc and 850.7 keV in ${}^{107}$Tc is interpreted as the $\ensuremath{\pi}$7/2${}^{+}$[413] configuration. Quasiparticle-rotor model calculations support the proposed interpretations.

In this article a comprehensive description and performance of the double Penning-trap setup JYFLTRAP will be detailed. The setup is designed for atomic mass measurements of both radioactive and stable ions and additionally serves as a very high-resolution mass separator. The setup is coupled to the IGISOL facility at the accelerator laboratory of the University of Jyväskylä. The trap has been online since 2003 and it was shut down in the summer of 2010 for relocation to the upgraded IGISOL facility. Numerous atomic mass and decay energy measurements have been performed using the time-of-flight ion-cyclotron resonance technique. The trap has also been used in several decay spectroscopy experiments as a high-resolution mass filter. peerReviewed

The nuclides 104-108Sn, 106-110Sb, 108,109Te, and 111I at the expected endpoint of the astrophysical rp process have been produced in 58Ni+natNi fusion-evaporation reactions at IGISOL and their mass values were precisely measured with the JYFLTRAP Penning trap mass spectrometer. For 106Sb, 108Sb, and 110Sb these are the first direct experimental mass results obtained. The related one-proton separation energies have been derived and the value for 106Sb, Sp=424(8) keV, shows that the branching into the closed SnSbTe cycle in the astrophysical rp process is weaker than expected.

The beta-decay half-life of 26Si was measured with a relative precision of 1.4*10e3. The measurement yields a value of 2.2283(27) s which is in good agreement with previous measurements but has a precision that is better by a factor of 4. In the same experiment, we have also measured the non-analogue branching ratios and could determine the super-allowed one with a precision similar to the previously reported measurements. The experiment was done at the Accelerator Laboratory of the University of Jyvaskyla where we used the IGISOL technique with the JYFLTRAP facility to separate pure samples of 26Si., Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures; accepted by EPJA

Purpose: Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) is a molecular target for imaging of pancreatic beta cells. We compared the ability of [Nle,Lys(Ahx-NODAGA-Cu)NH]-exendin-4 ([Cu]NODAGA-exendin-4) and [Nle,Lys(Ahx-NODAGA-Ga)NH]-exendin-4 ([Ga]NODAGA-exendin-4) to detect native pancreatic islets in rodents. Procedures: The stability, lipophilicity and affinity of the radiotracers to the GLP-1R were determined in vitro. The biodistribution of the tracers was assessed using autoradiography, ex vivo biodistribution and PET imaging. Estimates for human radiation dosimetry were calculated. Results: We found GLP-1R-specific labelling of pancreatic islets. However, the pancreas could not be visualised in PET images. The highest uptake of the tracers was observed in the kidneys. Effective dose estimates for [Cu]NODAGA-exendin-4 and [Ga]NODAGA-exendin-4 were 0.144 and 0.012 mSv/MBq, respectively. Conclusion: [Cu]NODAGA-exendin-4 might be more effective for labelling islets than [Ga]NODAGA-exendin-4. This is probably due to the lower specific radioactivity of [Ga]NODAGA-exendin-4 compared to [Cu]NODAGA-exendin-4. The radiation dose in the kidneys may limit the use of [Cu]NODAGA-exendin-4 as a clinical tracer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
