Abstract

Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) can be used as an antimicrobial agent against various disease-causing pathogens. In this study, we have synthesized non-toxic, eco-friendly AgNPs through green chemistry using Terminalia bellerica fruit extract (TBFE). Ag NPs were characterized using UV-Visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Transmission electron microscope and Fourier infra-red spectroscopy. The biosynthesized Ag NPs were tested for thier antimicrobial efficacy against two-gram negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae). The absorbance of biosynthesized Ag NPs obtained at 417 nm due to the surface plasmon resonance. The TEM image shows that size ∼ 10 nm and spherical morphology of the synthesized Ag NPs. The XRD result confirms the crystalline phase Ag NPs without any impurities. The antimicrobial results showed that TBFE mediated Ag NPs exhibited an enahnced antimicrobial activity for P. aeruginosa as compared to K. pneumoniae
