Abstract

Huawei is a leading global supplier of solutions for carriers. Significant changes have occurred in the last five years as third generation wireless, high-speed optical transport and virtual digital subscriber line (VDSL) have become mainstream technologies. The internet has transformed the world as an enabler of e-commerce, entertainment and information sharing. As a result of this transformation, traffic growth on carrier networks is projected to continue to nearly double every year, presenting great challenges for the delivery of services and content. This paper describes two methods that will help carriers maintain a healthy and profitable business, by equipping them for revenue from e-commerce and by transforming existing networks into content delivery super highways.
