Pesquisa do Estado do Amazonas The study carried out in the contaminated igarap??s of the urban zone of the city of Manaus - AM, during the hydrologic periods of drought and flood, showed high concentrations of potentially toxic elements present in the water, total suspended solids and sediments. The objective was to observe the distribution of the elements between the environmental compartments, besides the seasonal and anthropic influences on the presence of these pollutants in the aquatic environments. This work was carried out in 13 points distributed among Mindu, Quarenta, Tarum?? and APA - UFAM igarap??s (streams that are born in the forest of the UFAM Campus). The elements addressed for discussion on contaminants in this study were Ba , Cd , Cr, Pb , Sb, and Se. For the characterization of the environments under study, the physical-chemical analyzes were carried out together with the analysis of elements in water, total suspended solids and bottom sediments, using ICP-OES and EDX 720 techniques. Chemical measurements and analyzes as described by Standard Methods (APHA 2012), performing classical methods of analysis for pH , temperature and electrical conductivity, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, biological oxygen demand, oxygen chemistry, total suspended solids, nitrogen and phosphorus. The reference standard water quality standard was Resolution 357/2005 of CONAMA, and for the total suspended solids and sediment was used NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). The Results were statistically analyzed to verify the normal distribution of data, such as the Shapiro - Wilk and Wilcoxon tests, to compare the dry and full hydrological periods. High levels of Ba , Cd , Cr and Pb were observed in all sediments, water, total suspended solids and sediments, demonstrating the relationship of recent contamination with sediment accumulation. The analysis of the principal components showed similarity between the distribution of contaminants in the different streams studied, due to the high concentrations of the determined elements. O estudo realizado nos igarap??s contaminados da zona urbana da cidade de Manaus - AM, durante os per??odos hidrol??gicos de seca e cheia, mostrou altas concentra????es de elementos potencialmente t??xicos presentes nas amostras de ??guas, s??lidos totais suspensos e sedimentos. O objetivo foi observar a distribui????o dos elementos potencialmente t??xicos entre os compartimentos ambientais, al??m das influ??ncias sazonais e antr??picas sobre a presen??a desses poluentes nos ambientes aqu??ticos. Para a caracteriza????o dos ambientes em estudo, foram realizadas as an??lises f??sico-qu??micas em conjunto com as an??lises dos elementos em ??gua, s??lidos totais suspensos (STS) e sedimentos de fundo, utilizando as t??cnicas de ICP-OES e EDX 720. Foram realizadas as medi????es e an??lises qu??micas conforme descrito pelo Standard Methods (APHA 2012), executando m??todos cl??ssicos de an??lises para as determina????es de: pH, temperatura e condutividade el??trica, turbidez, oxig??nio dissolvido, demanda biol??gica de oxig??nio, demanda qu??mica de oxig??nio, s??lidos totais suspensos, nitrog??nio e f??sforo. A normativa de refer??ncia sobre padr??o de qualidade da ??gua foi a Resolu????o 357/2005 do CONAMA, e para os s??lidos totais suspensos e sedimentos utilizou-se a NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). Os resultados foram analisados estatisticamente para verificar a distribui????o normal dos dados, como os testes de Shapiro-Wilk e Wilcoxon, confrontar os per??odos hidrol??gicos de seca e cheia. Foram observados altos n??veis de Ba, Cd, Cr e Pb em todos os compartimentos estudados, ??gua, s??lidos totais suspensos e sedimentos, demonstrando a rela????o de contamina????o recente com a acumula????o nos sedimentos. A aplica????o das an??lises das componentes principais demonstrou similaridade entre a distribui????o dos contaminantes nos diferentes igarap??s estudados, devido, em geral, apresentarem elevadas concentra????es dos elementos determinados.
