Abstract

Stilbene and phenylethynylstilbene units are excellent candidates for fluorescent sensor synthesis. In this paper we show a fast and efficient method for the preparation of fluorophores based on biphenyl nuclei with phenylene-vinylene units functionalized by donor groups. Using pallado catalysed coupling reactions of Sonogashira types and Wittig or Wittig-Horner reaction, the stilbene and phenylethylsilbene arms functionalized with O-alkyl and N-alkyl donor groups were synthesized.

2. Chiral 1,4-Oxazino[4,3-a]indoles as a Challenging Scaffold: Syntheses and Properties

Abstract

In the last few decades, there has been an increasing interest in the development of new syntheses of oxazinoindoles, a tricyclic backbone bearing an indole core structure fused with a morpholine ring, in particular because these molecules have interesting bioactive properties, such as antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, or antitumor activity. There are a few reported racemic strategies for the synthesis of oxazinoindoles, but only four reports of enantioselective syntheses. 3. Small gold nanoparticles for tandem cyclization/reduction and cyclization/hydroalkoxylation reactions

Abstract

Abstract With peculiar structural features at the surface of small metal nanoparticles, some discrete sites can display catalytic behaviour similar to what could be observed with mononuclear metal catalysts in solution. We have studied the transfer of two catalytic tandem reactions from homogeneous to heterogeneous conditions. Tandem cyclisation/reduction of ortho-alkynyl benzaldehyde derivatives was successfully achieved with Au nanoparticles over TiO2 (Au NPs/TiO2) in the presence of Hantzsch ester with 45-98% yields for 15 examples (average yield: 70.4%). Similarly, tandem cyclisation/hydroalkoxylation of ortho-alkynyl benzaldehyde derivatives was successfully achieved with Au NPs/TiO2 in methanol or other alcohols with 62-96% yields for 17 examples (average yield: 84.9%). The application potential of this catalytic system was demonstrated with the total synthesis of a bioactive isochromene derivative featuring one of the developed reactions as the key step and the implementation of the tandem cyclisation/hydroalkoxylation in a continuous flow reactor, scaling up the reaction by a factor of 10 without loss of efficiency.

Abstract

Research on designing new catalytic systems has been one of the most important fields in modern organic chemistry. Abstract

Coinage metals have become the metal of choice due to their excellent catalytic activity in organic transformation processes. Combining various chiral ligands and coinage metals became a productive area of research and access to heterocyclic derivatives according to an efficient and sustainable manner. This review was devoted to the various recently developed coinage metal-catalyzed domino processes of ortho-alkynylaryl and heteroaryl aldehydes and ketones leading to functionalized heterocycles. Various gold chiral complexes were presented, and methods of preparations of chromenes along with indoles were covered. Ag-chiral complexes are also prone to interesting activities such as cyclization followed by reduction and functionalization with enolizable ketones or (diazomethyl)phosphonate. Asymmetric Cu-catalyzed domino cyclization and asymmetric transfer hydrogenation reactions efficiently led to functionalized chromenes. Some remarkable examples involving copper associated with ruthenium in the context of a cyclization and asymmetric hydrogenation process were also presented.

The scope and limitations of gold-catalyzed tandem cycloisomerization/fluorination reactions of unprotected 2-alkynylanilines to have access to 3,3-difluoro-2-aryl-3H-indoles and 3-fluoro-2-arylindoles are described. An unprecedented aminoauration/oxidation/fluorination cascade reaction of 2-alkynylanilines bearing a linear alkyl group on the terminal triple bond is reported.

15. Asymmetric Au-catalyzed cycloisomerization of 1,6-enynes: An entry to bicyclo[4.1.0]heptene

Abstract

A comprehensive study on the asymmetric gold-catalyzed cycloisomerization reaction of heteroatom tethered 1,6-enynes is described. The cycloisomerization reactions were conducted in the presence of the chiral cationic Au(I) catalyst consisting of (R)-4-MeO-3,5-(t-Bu)2-MeOBIPHEP-(AuCl)2 complex and silver salts (AgOTf or AgNTf2) in toluene under mild conditions to afford functionalized bicyclo[4.1.0]heptene derivatives. The reaction conditions were found to be highly substrate-dependent, the best results being obtained in the case of oxygen-tethered enynes. The formation of bicyclic derivatives, including cyclopropyl pentasubstituted ones, was reported in moderate to good yields and in enantiomeric excesses up to 99%.
