Purpose In this study, we conducted quantitative analysis of 1706 scholarly literature published in Journal of Documentation during the period of 1970 to 2019 (fifty years) using a series of scientometric indicators. Annual scientific production, most local cited sources, the ranking of authors; profiles, contributions, correlation, collaboration and authorship pattern, most contributed countries, most cited articles, frequently used search terms/keywords, and the legend of historiographic mapping were analysed in detail to measure the impact of the source. Design/methodology/approach We used the Scopus database for retrieving the desired sample data. In total, 1,706 numbers of publications records were considered for the literature analysis considering their relevancy. Biblioshiny data visualization tool is used to create the various maps. Findings The present study found that annual scientific production and average citations constantly have had an uptrend. The journal's had tremendous impact with an h-index of 80, with a g-index of 148, total citations of 37,161 within the studied period. Although Bawden D contributed the highest number of research papers (n=78), the work published by Hjørland B received the highest citations. Lotka's Law reveals that about 75.04% of the authors (1319 authors) have one publication, and approximately 12.73% of the authors (225 authors) have two publications. The United Kingdom was the dominant country in terms of number of papers and citation count whereas University of Sheffield topped with 128 publications. The thematic map consists of eleven clusters and ‘information retrieval’ found to be the largest cluster comprehending 56 subthemes occurring 995 times. Co-citation network identified four clusters with revealing Wilson TD as the most cited authors. The study also indicates the most collaborative authors are from the United Kingdom. Library Website is considered as one of the most substantial tools to publish and disseminate the information of several activities such as mission vision, library notice, rules and regulations, new arrival, library facilities, e-resources, and services, etc. The present study is based on the information available on the Animal Sciences University Library Websites/Webpage of India. A checklist method was used for content assessment based on an earlier study conducted by several professionals on this particular topic. The findings result of the present study presented that Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Hisar website has to have highest speed and performance of PageSpeed Insights on Desktop (95) whereas, Maharastra Animal & Fisheries. Sciences University, Nagpur website scores highest performance (84) on mobile among universities. Alexa Traffic Rank shows that Rajasthan University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Bikaner was secured on the top with 3,58,832 global ranks whereas Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Hisar is holding on the first position with 41,590 Indian ranks. It was revealed that Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna 36 (55.38%) scores the highest number followed by Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar 35 (53.84%) among the Animal Sciences University Websites/Webpages are taken for the study. Further, it is found that Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Hisar and Rajasthan University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Bikaner did not get up to the mark of the total score which further falls under the category “Needs Improvement” and secured the position seven and eight.

With the advent of new emerging technology in the library, the library website plays an important role and making a handy tool for promoting library services to reach and disseminate information in every corner of the world without physically visiting the library. The present study evaluated the content of Agricultural University Library Websites/Webpages in Rajasthan State, India. Sixty-five criteria of a checklist method are prepared and used for data collection for analysing the feature of library website/webpage. The finding result revealed that the Swami Keshwan and Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner Library Websites/Webpage scored 35 (53.84%) out of 65, which ranked first and falls under the good grade point whereas Rajasthan University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Bikaner Library Website ranked in 5th position by scoring 10 (15.38%) out of 65 features and thus needs improvement to provide the basic library services as per user demand.

This paper presents a scientometric analysis of the journal titled College and Research Libraries for the period between 2009 to 2018. The analysis focused on the distribution pattern of articles, the author’s productivity, collaboration pattern and Collaborative coefficient, Relative Growth rate and doubling time. It showed that the highest 14.47% of articles were published in the year 2015. The majority of articles are singled authored with 35.02% of the total contribution. The degree of collaboration among the authors was found decent, the average growth rate was in an upward direction from beginning to latest years. Total 14942 citations were appended where the highest number of 2464 citations was appended in the year 2018 having 51.33 citations per paper.

The present paper is a scientometric enquiry of research publications of Tripura University for a period of 10 years (i.e. from 2010-2019) and based on the secondary data collected from Web of Science databases and found that the total 503 papers published during this study period which index in web of science database. The study endeavours to analyse the pattern of publications, annual growth in publications, authorship pattern, types of documents, collaboration patterns, collaborative index, collaboration coefficient, modified collaboration coefficient, prolific author etc. based on collected data and found that 2017 and 2019 were the most productive year for this university with 84 (16.7%) publications. The maximum documents published during the study period are in the form of research article 445(88.46%). Bhattacharjee, D and Hussain S,A was the top most prolific authors having 68 and 62 publications respectively and Jadavpur University has highest collaboration with Tripura University having 48 publication which is 9.54% of total publications.

The paper focuses on the mapping of library and information science research publication output of the faculty member of the department of library and information science (DLIS), Mizoram University (MZU) during the period of ten years i.e. (2008-2017). The detailed curriculum vitae of faculty members of DLIS were obtained and bibliographic information of their papers was recorded. The study deals with 279 publications of DLIS, MZU. The present study examines and analysis that the DLIS output by different patterns such as the form of publication, the relative growth rate of publications, doubling time for publications, annual growth rate (AGR) of the publications and compound AGR of publications during the period of study.

The aim of the present study is to analyze the productivity growth of Bioinformatics research publications in India during the period (2009-2018). The primary data was collected from the Scopus database. The study examine scientific productivity on various scientometrics parameters i.e. year wise growth rate of publications, most productive authors name and their no. of publications, subject wise distribution of publications, source title, significant keywords, affiliations, funding agencies, after the analysis it has been found that the highest number of 348 research papers were published in the year 2018 and Chakraborty, C. was most productive author with 20 contribution and got the first rank. In the field of Biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology, the highest 1269 research papers were published and the highest 98 articles were published in PloS one journal while the most significant keyword was ‘Bioinformatics’ which was used in 1604 research papers. The most productive organization is the Vellore Institute of technology which has contributed 89 research papers during the period of study. The most popular funding agency was the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) who have funded 144 research papers in bioinformatics subject area in India from the marked period of study.

The present study investigates the use of Social Networking Sites (SNSs) by the students of Central Institute of Technology (CIT) in Kokrajhar, Assam. The survey and random sampling technique have been used for the collection of data. Around 200 structured questionnaires were distributed among the students of CIT, Kokrajhar and filled-in questionnaires were collected on the same day itself and analyzed for data interpretation in the form of tables and charts. The study explored that all the respondents were aware of SNSs and are using more than one SNSs websites, it has found that Facebook is use in large number, while YouTube and Instagram follow it. Mobile is the most preferred tool for accessing SNSs, a majority expressed that low internet speed was the main problem, also indicates that students are using SNSs for entertainment purpose. The majority 47.47% of the CIT students are satisfied, while 35.35% are partially satisfied and very few 17.17% are highly satisfied.

This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of the Journal of Library Herald for the period of 10 years (2008-2017). The total number of published articles during the period of study was 222 articles in a particular journal. The aim of this paper was to analysis the authorship pattern, geographical distribution, prolific author, reference distributions, and authorship pattern of reference. And found out that 97 (43.68%) articles were contributed by single authors, followed by two authors 87 (39.18%). Dr K P Singh was a most productive author with a maximum number of articles contributed 11, constituting (31.43%), followed by B K Sen has contributed by 6, constituting (17.14%) in the period of study.
