Recent evidence shows a shift in neonatal mortality causes, with an increasing proportion due to birth defects. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and treatment outcomes of congenital anomalies (CAs) at a tertiary referral center in Northern India. This retrospective observational study was conducted over 7 years (May 2014–December 2021) and included all inborn and outborn neonates admitted with a diagnosis of CA as per ICD-10 classification in a level 3 NICU in North India. The prevalence of CAs was 8.9% (332 out of 3734 neonates). The most commonly affected systems were cardiovascular (33.4%), gastrointestinal (19.8%), and genitourinary (19.8%). While 57.5% of these defects could potentially be addressed through pediatric and cardiovascular surgery, only a small proportion of eligible neonates received timely surgical intervention due to delayed referrals and financial constraints. The mortality rate was 16.8%. This study highlights the significant burden of CAs in Northern India, emphasizing the need for enhanced capacity building, better facilities, and increased awareness for timely referrals. The findings underscore the importance of multidisciplinary collaborations and upgraded healthcare services to inspire further research and preventive strategies to mitigate birth defects. Given the context of a low- and middle-income country, this study's insights into the prevalence, challenges, and outcomes of CAs are particularly relevant, highlighting the necessity of accessible and affordable healthcare solutions in such settings. The study was conducted to evaluate the influence of Moringa oleifera leaf powder (MOLP) on the growth and haemato-biochemical indices of broiler chickens. A total of 250-day-old broiler chicks (Vencobb-430) were randomly distributed into five groups with 5 replicates of 10 birds in each. Different dietary treatments were; basal diet with no supplement (NC-negative control) and a basal diet supplemented with antibiotics (PC-positive control), 1% MOLP (MOLP1), 1.5% MOLP (MOLP1.5), and 2% MOLP (MOLP2). Bodyweight gain (BWG), feed intake (FI), feed conversion ratio (FCR), haemato-biochemical parameters, and economics were assessed in 35 days of the experiment. The results showed that BWG of birds was significantly (p < 0.05) higher in all Moringa supplement groups than NC group, but similar to PC group birds. Feed intake and FCR of Moringa supplemented and PC groups were significantly (p < 0.05) lower than the NC group, except MOLP2, which showed no difference in FI compared with the NC group. MOLP1.5 group birds recorded the best value of FCR among different groups. The highest profit per broiler was recorded in MOLP1.5 followed by MOLP1 and MOLP2 than NC, similar to the PC group. Hb and PCV values of the MOLP1.5 group were significantly (p < 0.05) higher than the NC group but comparable to the PC group. Platelet and WBC count were significantly (p < 0.05) lower in Moringa supplemented groups than NC and PC groups. A significant (p < 0.05) reduction was observed in blood glucose, SGPT, SGOT, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels of Moringa supplemented groups as compared to broilers of PC and NC groups. From the results, it was concluded that supplementation of 1.5% Moringa oleifera leaf powder improved the performance of birds without any detrimental effect on their health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: An estimated 2.25 million new cancer cases with 7 lakh cancer deaths were reported, according to GLOBOCAN 2018 in India. There is a steady rise in cancer cases, but trends and patterns vary within the state depending on the geographic region. Objectives: To study the proportion and site‑wise distribution of neoplasm reported at a tertiary care hospital in district Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, India. Material and Methods: A record based retrospective study was conducted at a tertiary care hospital in district Etawah, Uttar Pradesh. Total four years (from 2015 to 2018) hospital‑based retrospective data were collected from the Medical Record Department. Identification and distribution of malignant neoplasm were done according to the WHO ICD‑10 classification. Results: Total cases diagnosed with malignancy from January 2015 to December 2018 were 3614. Cancer cases reported over the years was 932 (25.8%) in 2015, 1031 (28.5%) cases in 2016, 897 (24.8%) in 2017 and 754 (20.9%) in 2018. It was found that breast carcinoma (24.0%) accounted for the maximum number of cases diagnosed, followed by lung carcinoma (10.9%), cervical cancer (8.7%), gall bladder carcinoma (8%), and oral cavity cancer (7.9%). Conclusion: The present study reveals that the malignancy of the breast is most common, followed by malignancies of lung, cervix, and gall bladder among the patients who were seeking care in a tertiary care hospital of the district Etawah Uttar Pradesh, India. The present study was aimed to evaluate morphometric characteristics of lambs of less known native sheep of Gang-Fatehpuri of Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh during different growth stages in its breeding tract for breed recognition and registration with NBAGR, Karnal, India. A total of 365 lambs of either sex of different age groups (94, 102, 95, and 74 heads of 3, 6, 9, and 12 months of age, respectively) were surveyed in 15 villages of Fatehpur district. The overall values of body weight and body measurements, viz., body length, height at withers, chest girth, tail length, and ear length recorded at 12 months of age (sexual maturity) were 29.62 ± 0.46 kg, 73.47 ± 0.46 cm, 73.54 ± 0.51 cm, 77.63 ± 0.43 cm, 40.08 ± 0.23 cm, and 18.29 ± 0.13 cm, respectively. The mean values of all the traits, except ear length, of male lambs, were significantly (p < 0.05) higher/larger than female lambs. The differences gradually increased significantly (p < 0.01) with advancing age from 3 months to 12 months. The values were generally comparable with the earlier known sheep breeds like Muzaffarnagari, and Kajali of the region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
