Abstract

In this paper the application of centrifugal type gas separator as a part of submersible electric screw pumping unit is considered. A number of bench tests have been carried out to study the centrifugal gas separator on viscous gas-liquid mixture. Calculation of the dependence of delivery on the developed pressure of a single screw pump at the angular speed of rotation of the rotor 225 rpm for different gas content has been made. Also, characteristic curves of gas separators of groups 5 and 5A at different gas contents and different viscosity of gas-liquid mixture are obtained. A methodology for bench testing of gas separators has been developed, which takes into account the influence of gas-liquid mixture properties, changes in the angular speed of the electric motor shaft rotation, and natural separation parameters. The operating parameters of a gas separator of group 5A were determined experimentally, taking into account a residual gas content of 50%, in the range of angular speeds of 252 – 1000 rpm (4.2 – 16.7 Hz). Abstract

A locally conformally Kaehler (LCK) manifold is a complex manifold admitting a Kaehler covering M, with monodromy acting on M by Kaehler homotheties. A compact LCK manifold is Vaisman if it admits a holomorphic flow acting by non-trivial homotheties on M. We prove a non-Kaehler analogue of Kodaira embedding theorem: any compact Vaisman manifold admits a natural holomorphic immersion to a Hopf manifold. Abstract

We study the deformations of a holomorphic symplectic manifold $M$, not necessarily compact, over a formal ring. We show (under some additional, but mild, assumptions on $M$) that the coarse deformation space exists and is smooth, finite-dimensional and naturally embedded into $H^2(M)$. For a holomorphic symplectic manifold $M$ which satisfies $H^1(M,{\cal O}_M) = H^2(M,{\cal O}_M)=0$, the coarse moduli of formal deformations is isomorphic to $\Spec\C[[t_1, ..., t_n]]$, where $t_1$, ... $t_n$ are coordinates in $H^2(M)$. Abstract

We study the partial resolutions of singularities related to Hilbert schemes of points on an affine space. Consider a quotient of a vector space $V$ by an action of a finite group $G$ of linear transforms. Under some additional assumptions, we prove that the partial desingularization of Hilbert type is smooth only if the action of $G$ is generated by complex reflections. This is used to study the subvarieties of a Hilbert scheme of a complex torus. We show that any subvariety of a generic deformation of a Hilbert scheme of a torus is birational to a quotient of another torus by an action of a Weyl group of some semisimple Lie algebra. Abstract

Let $X$ be a hyperkaehler manifold. Trianalytic subvarieties of $X$ are subvarieties which are complex analytic with respect to all complex structures induced by the hyperkaehler structure. Given a 2-dimensional complex torus $T$, the Hilbert scheme $T^{[n]}$ classifying zero-dimensional subschemes of $T$ admits a hyperkaehler structure. A finite cover of $T^{[n]}$ is a product of $T$ and a simply connected hyperkaehler manifold $K^{[n-1]}$, called generalized Kummer variety. We show that for $T$ generic, the corresponding generalized Kummer variety has no trianalytic subvarieties. Abstract

Toeplitz operators on quantized compact symplectic manifolds were introduced by Guillemin and Boutet de Monvel, who studied their spectral asymptotics in analogy with the theory developed by Duistermaat, Guillemin, and H\"{o}rmander for pseudodifferential operators. In this survey, we review some recent results concerning eigenfunction asymptotics in this context, largely based on the microlocal description of Szeg\"{o} kernels by Boutet de Monvel and Sj\"{o}strand, and its revisitation and generalization to the almost complex symplectic category by Shiffman and Zelditch. For simplicity, the exposition is restricted to the complex projective setting.

Abstract

Social responsibility of business is an integral part of developed economy of the modern country. Relevance of this article is explained by it.The concept of "social responsibility" can be interpreted in different ways. Word meaning and evolution of this term were considered. The urgent level of development of socially responsibly in the countries with market economy practically reached full mutual understanding and mutual aid between the state and businessmen. In Ukraine cooperation is not so well established. The reasons of it are considered in article. Dependence of level of social responsibility and rules of law gives the grounds for further development of the legal sphere of this question. Consideration of a question at the nation-wide and micro shows that the state is interested in socially responsible business. Manifestation of an initiative in this direction is possible not only from businessmen. After consideration of such interaction as analog of crediting, all components for satisfactions of many needs of society and business were found., Для всестороннего рассмотрения понятия «социальная ответственность бизнеса» и поиска путей его развития в статье исследована эволюция внедрения технологий этого направления на всемирном и общегосударственном уровнях. Item does not contain fulltext, Copy number variations associate with different developmental phenotypes and represent a major cause of congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT). Because rare pathogenic copy number variations are often large and contain multiple genes, identification of the underlying genetic drivers has proven to be difficult. Here we studied the role of rare copy number variations in 80 patients from the KIMONO study cohort for which pathogenic mutations in three genes commonly implicated in CAKUT were excluded. In total, 13 known or novel genomic imbalances in 11 of 80 patients were absent or extremely rare in 23,362 population controls. To identify the most likely genetic drivers for the CAKUT phenotype underlying these rare copy number variations, we used a systematic in silico approach based on frequency in a large data set of controls, annotation with publicly available databases for developmental diseases, tolerance and haploinsufficiency scores, and gene expression profile in the developing kidney and urinary tract. Five novel candidate genes for CAKUT were identified that showed specific expression in the human and mouse developing urinary tract. Among these genes, DLG1 and KIF12 are likely novel susceptibility genes for CAKUT in humans. Thus, there is a significant role of genomic imbalance in the determination of kidney developmental phenotypes. Additionally, we defined a systematic strategy to identify genetic drivers underlying rare copy number variations.

Abstract

BackgroundCongenital abnormalities of the kidney and the urinary tract are the most common cause of pediatric kidney failure. These disorders are highly heterogeneous, and the etiologic factors are poorly understood.MethodsWe performed genomewide linkage analysis and whole-exome sequencing in a family with an autosomal dominant form of congenital abnormalities of the kidney or urinary tract (seven affected family members). We also performed a sequence analysis in 311 unrelated patients, as well as histologic and functional studies.ResultsLinkage analysis identified five regions of the genome that were shared among all affected family members. Exome sequencing identified a single, rare, deleterious variant within these linkage intervals, a heterozygous splice-site mutation in the dual serine-threonine and tyrosine protein kinase gene (DSTYK). This variant, which resulted in aberrant splicing of messenger RNA, was present in all affected family members. Additional, independent DSTYK mutations, including nonsense and splice-site mutations, were detected in 7 of 311 unrelated patients. DSTYK is highly expressed in the maturing epithelia of all major organs, localizing to cell membranes. Knockdown in zebrafish resulted in developmental defects in multiple organs, which suggested loss of fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signaling. Consistent with this finding is the observation that DSTYK colocalizes with FGF receptors in the ureteric bud and metanephric mesenchyme. DSTYK knockdown in human embryonic kidney cells inhibited FGF-stimulated phosphorylation of extracellular-signal-regulated kinase (ERK), the principal signal downstream of receptor tyrosine kinases.ConclusionsWe detected independent DSTYK mutations in 2.3% of patients with congenital abnormalities of the kidney or urinary tract, a finding that suggests that DSTYK is a major determinant of human urinary tract development, downstream of FGF signaling. Abstract

The Oeljeklaus-Toma (OT-) manifolds are complex manifolds constructed by Oeljeklaus and Toma from certain number fields, and generalizing the Inoue surfaces $S_m$. On each OT-manifold we construct a holomorphic line bundle with semipositive curvature form and trivial Chern class. Using this form, we prove that the OT-manifolds admitting a locally conformally Kahler structure have no non-trivial complex subvarieties. Abstract

Mutations in the parkin gene are the most common genetic cause of early-onset Parkinson disease (PD). Results from a multicenter study of patients with PD systematically sampled by age at onset have not been reported to date.To determine risk factors associated with carrying parkin mutations.Cross-sectional observational study.Thirteen movement disorders centers.A total of 956 patients with early-onset PD, defined as age at onset younger than 51 years.Presence of heterozygous, homozygous, or compound heterozygous parkin mutations.Using a previously validated interview, 14.7% of patients reported a family history of PD in a first-degree relative. Sixty-four patients (6.7%) had parkin mutations (3.9% heterozygous, 0.6% homozygous, and 2.2% compound heterozygous). Copy number variation was present in 52.3% of mutation carriers (31.6% of heterozygous, 83.3% of homozygous, and 81.0% of compound heterozygous). Deletions in exons 3 and 4 and 255delA were common among Hispanics (specifically Puerto Ricans). Younger age at onset (40 years) (odds ratio [OR], 5.0; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.8-8.8; P = .001), Hispanic race/ethnicity (OR compared with white non-Hispanic race/ethnicity, 2.7; 95% CI, 1.3-5.7; P = .009), and family history of PD in a first-degree relative (OR compared with noncarriers, 2.8; 95% CI, 1.5-5.3; P = .002) were associated with carrying any parkin mutation (heterozygous, homozygous, or compound heterozygous). Hispanic race/ethnicity was associated with carrying a heterozygous mutation (OR compared with white non-Hispanic race/ethnicity, 2.8; 95% CI, 1.1-7.2; P = .03) after adjustment for covariates.Age at onset, Hispanic race/ethnicity, and family history of PD are associated with carrying any parkin mutation (heterozygous, homozygous, or compound heterozygous) and heterozygous mutations alone. The increased odds of carrying a parkin mutation among Hispanics warrants further study.

Abstract

Let M be an irreducible holomorphically symplectic manifold. We show that all faces of the Kähler cone of M are hyperplanes Hi orthogonal to certain homology classes, called monodromy birationally minimal (MBM) classes. Moreover, the Kähler cone is a connected component of a complement of the positive cone to the union of all Hi. We provide several characterizations of the MBM classes. We show the invariance of MBM property by deformations, as long as the class in question stays of type (1,1). For hyperkähler manifolds with Picard group generated by a negative class z, we prove that ±z is Q-effective if and only if it is an MBM class. We also prove some results toward the Morrison-Kawamata cone conjecture for hyperkähler manifolds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Opioid peptides have been detected in the auditory and vestibular efferent neurons where they colocalize with the major neurotransmitter, acetylcholine. We investigated the function of opioids to modulate neurotransmission mediated by hair cell''s α9/α10-containing nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (α9/α10nAChRs). The endogenous opioid peptides, endomorphin-1 (mu agonist) and dynorphin B (kappa agonist), but not a delta agonist [D-Pen2,D-Pen-5]enkephalin, inhibited the acetylcholine-evoked currents in frog saccular hair cells and rat inner hair cells. This inhibition was noncompetitive, voltage-independent, and was accompanied by an acceleration of the rate of current decay. Selective mu- and kappa-opioid receptor antagonists did not block the inhibition, although partial reduction by naloxone was observed. All opioid antagonists tested also reduced the acetylcholine response. Endomorphin-1 and dynorphin B inhibited the acetylcholine-evoked currents in α9/α10-expressing Xenopus oocytes. Because oocytes lack opioid receptors, it provides strong evidence for the direct interaction of opioid peptides with α9/α10nAChR. Conclusion: α9/α10nAChR is a target for modulation by endomorphin-1 and dynorphin B, efferent cotransmitters in the inner ear. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Steady-state climate appears to persist in a wide range of perturbed solar constant regimes.
