Abstract

The eighth edition of the Italian Conference on Computational Linguistics (CLiC-it 2021) was held at Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca from 26th to 28th January 2022. After the edition of 2020, which was held in fully virtual mode due to the health emergency related to Covid-19, CLiC-it 2021 represented the first moment for the Italian research community of Computational Linguistics to meet in person after more than one year of full/partial lockdown.

4. ConteCorpus: An Analysis of People Response to Institutional Communications During the Pandemic

Abstract

The study of institutional communication related to the pandemic, and to the population's response to it, is of great relevance today. The Italian spokesperson for communication regarding the pandemic has been, during the year 2020, the former Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte. We retrieved 4,860,395 comments from his Facebook official page and built the ConteCorpus, a new Italian resource annotated in CoNLL-U format. A first aim of the research was to evaluate the performance of the model used to annotate the corpus. Models trained on social media texts are usually not very generalizable. Nevertheless, the results of the evaluation were good, especially in parsing metrics, and showed that a parser trained on Twitter data can be successfully applied to Facebook data. A second aim of the research was to provide an overall view of the content of such a large corpus; for this purpose, topic modeling was conducted, training an LDA model. The model generated 5 topics that cover different aspects linked to the pandemic emergency, from economic to political issues. Through the topic modeling we investigated which topics are prevalent on particular days.

Abstract

El presente artículo plantea medir la accesibilidad de los consumidores a los establecimientos comerciales, para el intercambio de bienes y servicios, a través de la tecnología y digitalización, en el municipio de Baranoa, Atlántico, Colombia. Para ello, se ejecutó una investigación cuantitativa, dividida en dos encuestas: la primera a 131 establecimientos comerciales y la segunda a 381 consumidores del municipio antes mencionado, esta cantidad se dedujo a partir de la aplicación de la fórmula de cálculo de la muestra de población finita, con datos tomados del DANE y de la Alcaldía municipal de Baranoa, para conocer el número de habitantes y establecimientos comerciales, respectivamente. Esta investigación, arrojo mediciones que plantean la situación actual del acceso que tienen los consumidores a los establecimientos comerciales, teniendo en cuenta el aspecto digital y tecnológico, pero también, permitió llegar a conclusiones que permiten mejoras para el intercambio de bienes y servicios., This article proposes to measure the accessibility of consumers to commercial establishment, for the exchange of goods and services, through technology and digitization, in the municipality of Baranoa, Atlántico, Colombia. For this, a quantitative research was carried out, divided into two surveys: the first to 131 commercial establishment and the second 381 consumers of the aforementioned municipality, this amount was deducted from the application of the calculation formula of the population sample finite, with data taken from Dane and the Baranoa Municipal Mayor’s Office, to know the number of inhabitants and commercial establishments, respectively. This research, yield measurements that pose the current situation of access that consumers have to commercial establishments, taking into account the digital and technological aspect, but also, allowed to reach conclusions that allow improvements for the exchange of goods and services.

Abstract

This paper describes a preliminary expansion and assessment of the Latin WordNet for the purposes of the LiLa: Linking Latin project. The objective of this study is to better understand the implications of expanding and evaluating the sense coverage of the Latin WordNet, with a view to identifying the most effective method for its refinement and inclusion in the LiLa Knowledge Base of Latin resources. Our test empirically demonstrates the inadequacy for Latin of a common semi-automated approach of expansion and informs potential lines of improvement for the resource.

Abstract

The article offers information on a case-control study wihch examined a possible association between coeliac disease and psoriasis in patients in Sardinia. The article mentions reports of patients whose skin lesions regressed after following a gluten-free diet. Anti-transglutaminase antibody in patients with psoriasis was studied. The study was unable to determine a link between psoriasis and coeliac disease.
