The purpose of this article is to examine the effects of STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education practices carried out at the primary school level in Turkey on various learning outcomes. The systematic review method was employed to accomplish this purpose. This study examined whether 30 comparisons from publications found through database searches and meeting the inclusion criteria revealed a significant difference. The analyses conducted led to a finding that STEM education used in primary schools had favorable and statistically significant effects on attitude towards STEM (f=6), academic achievement in a science course (f=5), 21st-century skills (f=2), interest in careers in STEM fields (f=2), scientific creativity (f=2), basic skills (f=2), entrepreneurial skills (f=1), social skill (f=1), reflections on the nature of science (f=1), STEM perception (f=1), and Scratch achievement (f=1). On the other hand, the study's findings showed that these practices did not produce a statistically significant difference in academic achievement in mathematics courses (f=1) and reflective thinking skills toward problem-solving (f=1). Additionally, the study's findings showed that 2 practices created a statistically significant difference in the positive direction on problem solving skills, and 2 practices did not create a statistically significant difference.

The aim of this study was to determine pre-service elementary school teachers’ capabilities of deciding the viewpoint and perspective in geometrical drawing. The study examined geometrical drawings the participants did on isometric paper. This is a case study, a qualitative study method, and the study data were analyzed using written documents. The study sample included 34 senior students in the Education Faculty’s Elementary School Teaching Program at a Turkish public university. They were selected from approximately 205 pre-service teachers. The students participated in the study on a voluntary basis. The study results revealed that the pre-service teachers generally had weak skills in geometrical drawing. The participants had better skills in building structures which they saw from the air using unit blocks, and forming a structure of which they had the direct views (left and right; front and back) using unit blocks. However, the participants had weaker skills in drawing the direct views of the structures they had built, recognizing the connections between the left-right views and front-back views of the structures and drawing the structures they built on isometric paper in perspective.

Bu araştırmanın amacı Türkiye’de eğitim alanında üstbiliş konusunda yapılmış olan lisansüstü tezlerin incelenmesidir. Araştırma; betimsel tarama modeliyle desenlenmiştir. Araştırmanın evreni; Yüksek Öğretim Kurulu (YÖK) Yayın Dokümantasyon Daire Başkanlığı bünyesinde bulunan eğitim fakülteleri kapsamında üstbiliş konusunda yapılmış 192 lisansüstü tez oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin analizinde içerik analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre üstbiliş konulu tezler 2007-2020 yılları arasında dağılım göstermiştir. Tezler tür bakımından incelendiğinde 128 tezin yüksek lisans; 64 tezin ise doktora düzeyinde olduğu görülmüştür. Tezlerde çoğunlukla nicel araştırma yöntemleri tercih edilmiştir. Hedef kitle dağılımına bakıldığında en fazla lisans öğrencileriyle çalışılmıştır. Tezlerde konu alanı olarak en çok matematik eğitimi üzerine; üstbiliş konusunda ise üstbilişsel farkındalık üzerinde durulduğu görülmüştür. Tezlerde yapılan öneriler genellikle iki boyut çerçevesinde toplanmıştır.
