Com a crescente importância dos conceitos qualidade e melhoria contínua para conseguir uma maior satisfação dos clientes, surge a necessidade de organização e sistematização de procedimentos levando à criação e implementação de Sistemas de Gestão da Qualidade (SGQ). Na área laboratorial ainda é mais notório a necessidade de existir rigor e garantia dos resultados obtidos. Neste sentido a implementação de um SGQ no laboratório é um processo necessário e natural. A metodologia aplicada baseou-se na constatação e diagnóstico do modelo de gestão implementado num laboratório de ensaios, Laboratório de Materiais do Departamento de Engenharia Mecânica (LM.DEM) da Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão (ESTG) e propor a sua reestruturação com bases normativas. Para isso foram elaborados diversos documentos da qualidade tendo por base a norma NP EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 – Requisitos gerais de competência para laboratórios de ensaio e calibração. O objetivo principal desta dissertação é de desenvolver um SGQ, com as ferramentas adequadas e de acordo com as normas de referência, para implementação no LM.DEM. Assim, foi pensada a reestruturação do Laboratório de Materiais tanto ao nível de melhoria funcional como melhoria de rentabilidade económica. Adicionalmente foi feito um estudo para a avaliação do impacto económico a conseguir com a implementação do SGQ desenvolvido e de uma futura acreditação do laboratório. Deste estudo verificou-se que existirá uma grande mais-valia para o laboratório de materiais a implementação de um SGQ e a sua acreditação.

To Zé and João Nuno, for the great time we have when we are together., PRIMAVERA Business Software Solution dedicou muito tempo e esforço nos últimos anos no desenvolvimento de uma framework que permite a um utilizador modelar uma aplicação e respectivos serviços. Esta framework irá então gerar grande parte do código fonte, assim como a base de dados e o User Interface. O objectivo deste projecto de dissertação é de adicionar uma nova função a esta framework - uma componente de automação de testes. Desta forma, a framework será capaz de gerar casos de teste para validar os requisitos da aplicação. Como gerar todas as possiveis combinações seria impraticável, um dos principais objetivos deste projeto é gerar um conjunto de casos de teste mais pequeno que possa garantir que o sistema está a ser a ser bem testado.

High-throughput biofilm studies are rapidly accumulating a large amount of omics-scale data. In other biological areas that deal with large datasets, such as genomics or proteomics, ways for simplifying the visualization and understanding of the obtained results have already been developed. As such, we have started the development of a Web-based platform for analogous management, visualization and exploration of biofilm data. This platform, named Biofomics, is comprised of three main areas: 1) experimental characterization, where users define the conditions under which biofilms have been formed (e.g. microorganism, temperature) and the methods used to analyze them (e.g. crystal violet, XTT); 2) data submission, where users fill in a data form customized according to previous characterization and 3) data visualization, where users can correlate and visualize data from different biofilms and different studies (under development). Its contents are expected to represent the result of curation and automated integration of data from the entire biofilms research community. In particular, it is our belief that our efforts to harmonize data nomenclatures (e.g., methods applied to form and analyse biofilms), and document experiments (e.g. by adding citations and references) will support the work of reviewers of scientific literature. Initial tests, where in-house generated data is being used to feed the platform, are currently underway. The NEMO (NEtwork MObility) protocol, as normalized by IETF, allows a transparent movement of a whole IPv6 network. This mobile network can thus attach to different points in the Internet without losing TCP/IP connectivity of its mobile nodes. In this paper we briefly describe the NEMO protocol and present a simple architecture deployed to test its main functionalities. We also discuss the results obtained thus far with the use of popular TCP and UDP applications in a mobile environment: video streaming transfer, remote access using SSH and FTP file transfer.
