Ala Este. Revista de Teoría de la Literatura y Literatura Comparada nació como Proyecto de Innovación Docente en 2020, creciendo en un ambiente universitario, pues sus miembros son estudiantes y personal de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, todos relacionados con el mundo de las letras y de las artes. Ala Este promueve la transversalidad y la innovación y pretende dar una oportunidad de publicación a estudiantes universitarios de grado, máster o doctorado. Asimismo, es una revista de naturaleza científica, pues se lleva a cabo una evaluación por pares de ciegos para seleccionar los artículos de jóvenes investigadores sobre Teoría de la Literatura, Literatura Comparada y Crítica Literaria. El objetivo de la revista es que tanto los miembros del proyecto como los alumnos y alumnas de aquellos grados y másteres en que la Teoría de la Literatura tiene presencia en su plan de estudios (Grado en Literatura General y Comparada, Grado en Filosofía, Grado en Español, Grado en Lenguas Modernas y sus Literaturas, Grado en Historia del Arte, Máster en Estudios Literarios, Máster en Letras Digitales…) puedan publicar trabajos académicos y comprender los procesos que siguen las revistas científicas de su área de conocimiento. more...

En esta investigación pretendemos poner de manifiesto la influencia y la importancia que el «País del Más Allá» o lugar de los muertos ha tenido a lo largo de la historia en el desarrollo de la humanidad. El viaje hacia ese lugar, que traduce la necesidad de transcendencia del ser humano de todos los tiempos, queda reflejado en la civilización occidental de la Edad Media, en los relatos medievales de viajes imaginarios al Más Allá que analizamos en el corpus textual. En la primera parte de este trabajo se exponen diferentes teorías científicas modernas sobre el significado del País del Más Allá y se realiza un estudio de como se ha reflejado este país imaginario en la literatura utilizando y transformando símbolos provenientes de los mitos y las religiones mundiales. Se describen estos símbolos que se repiten a lo largo de los siglos y pasan al Medievo. Se estudia el desarrollo que el tema y motivo literario del « Viaje al Más Allá» ha venido experimentando en siglos posteriores y en la Modernidad., In this investigation we attemp to highligh the importance and the influence that the «Country of the Great Beyond» or place of the dead has had throughout history in the development of humanity. The journey to that place, which expresses the need for transcendence of the human being of all times, is reflected in the Western civilization of the Middle Ages in medieval stories of imaginary journeys to the Great Beyond that are analyzed in the textual corpus. This paper, during its first part, explains different modern scientific theories about the meaning of the Country of the Great Beyond, and it studies how this imaginary country has been reflected in literature using and transforming symbols from myths and religions worldwide. Background: Unhealthy lifestyles are strongly entrenched in healthcare universities and have sometimes been linked to stress or lack of sleep. This study investigated the prevalence of toxic habits (smoking, patterns of harmful alcohol use, and illicit drug use), stress levels, perceived health status, and sleep duration and assessed the connections between toxic habits and said well-being measures, as well as healthcare students’ perception of the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on these health-related behaviors. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, healthcare students from Alfonso X University (Spain) completed a health survey composed of Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT-C), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), self-perceived health status, and the number of hours of sleep. Results: A total of 997 healthcare students completed the survey, of which 982 were analyzed. Being a smoker (32.2%) was associated with worse health status and insufficient sleep. Risk drinkers (33.2%) were associated with being female, and the consumption of cannabinoids (6.7%), with being male. These three toxic habits were related to each other. High levels of stress (28.2%) were correlated with worse ratings in the perception of health status (29.2%) and with insufficient sleep (45.8%), and all of them were associated with the female sex. Respectively, 49.3% and 44.2% of students recognized a worsening in their perception of stress and their sleep habits during the pandemic.
