The present doctoral research attempts to address the issue of the appropriations that the European positivist theses obtained by the intellectual groups in Peru, at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. Influence the intellectual debates, which from different types of texts took place in areas such as the academic, the scientific press and institutional or political spaces, and which informed their discussion from the themes introduced by positivist criticism. In this way, try to define what are the peculiarities that this discourse acquired in the Peruvian environment and the forms of participation of part of the intelligentsia of the period in the conformation of said "particularity", through the dynamics of appropriation of categories and their application to specific topics. For this I intend to start from the analysis of the written production and institutional work of three intellectuals and statesmen of the period, Javier Prado, Manuel V. Villar?n and Mariano H. Cornejo; considered by the Peruvian historiography of ideas the main exponents or examples of the dynamics of reception and dissemination of the aforementioned theses. As well as a set of texts (books, theses, periodicals, political speeches, etc.) that appeared in the period, linked to the process of reception and resignification of the so-called Peruvian positivist discourse. The research developed is thus part of a broader theme, which is the analysis of how a combination of categories or concepts developed and disseminated in the form of a school of thought (European positivism) are received and redefined by a specialized segment of society (the local intelligentsia), to the extent and in such a way that these categories can be introduced within the topics of interest for their own intellectual debate and, in this way, applied to the discussion of specific problems of the medium, which could then be translated into implementation policies by the State and institutions.
