Abstract

In the laboratory of O.K. Tikhomirov, the phenomenon of the acute emotional regulation of productive thinking was justified. This regulation is realized by means of the elaboration of the axiological profile of cognition. The following definition of intellectual emotions can be given: intellectual emotions are the appraisals of specific cognitive objects — contradictions, assumptions, probabilities, and the intermediate and final results of operations. The main aspect of the method used in the research consisted of the synchronous registration of an external (tactile) elaboration of problems, skin galvanic response and verbal utterances regarding tasks to be completed in a game of chess. The principle position in Tikhomirov`s group is the following: intellectual emotions represent not only the energetic resource or catalysts for the thinking process, but also the determinants of its structure.

Abstract

This article analyses the terrible in the works of Adamist poets to identify common features and patterns in their creative work.Adamism is both a synonym for Acmeism and the designation of its left wing, represented by S. Gorodetsky, V. Narbut, and M. Zenkevich. Accepting the basic postulates of Gumilyov’s Acmeism (supported by A. Akhmatova and O. Mandelstam) about the primordial attitude to reality, the priority of objectivity in the composition of the artistic world which sought to acquire earthly contours and outlines, Adamists were much more resolute about the possibility of considering a wide range of everyday phenomena and everyday things worthy of artistic comprehension. Physiologism, the animal nature in humans, and primitive savage impulses also became a favorite basis for Adamists for their naturalistic pictorial solutions. This vitalist approach was combined with an interest in the spontaneous, pagan, and folklore and ethnographic.The bearers of the terrible in V. Narbut are disgusting and ugly things, people, animals, representatives of folk demonology, mystical creatures, and zombies. Their appearance and existence are associated with a violation of the norm, deformity or disfiguring disease, the appearance of evil spirits, and the domination of death and decay. All this, for the characters and the lyrical subject himself, was a manifestation of the Otherworldly and the intrusion of a frightening Other into everyday life.The material and biological basis presented through the prism of coarse physiology, animal struggle for existence, and aggressive struggle of the sexes determines the interpretation of the terrible in M. Zenkevich’s poetry. The article examines how any layers of culture collapse and terrible crimes and murders are committed when primitive animal and wild subconscious instincts are released. The evolution of the terrible in Zenkevich is related to the movement from the eschatology of the natural-cosmic catastrophism of the Earth to the eschatology of personality, the comprehension of the tragedy of the individual’s existence.Gorodetsky’s poetry is associated with the folk poetic element, ethnographic excursions, interest in social issues, and anti-urbanism. Many thematic sections of the terrible combine Gorodetsky’s work with the work of literary brothers in Adamism: interest in the primary and primordial, folk demonology, nightmares, and death. The peculiarity of Gorodetsky’s approach to the problem of the terrible manifests itself in the artistic embodiment of the motif of the mask, hiding the conflict between the deceptive phenomenon and the essence of things: for the poet, the loss of individuality, facelessness, and alienation are terrible., В статье анализируется страшное в творчестве поэтов-адамистов с целью выявления общих для их творчества особенностей и закономерностей.Адамизм — это и синоним акмеизма, и обозначение его левого крыла, представленного именами С. Городецкого, В. Нарбута и М. Зенкевича. Принимая основные постулаты гумилевского акмеизма (поддерживаемые А. Ахматовой и О. Мандельштамом) о первозданном отношении к реальности, приоритете предметности в составе художественного мира, стремившегося обрести земные контуры и очертания, адамисты гораздо решительнее подходили к возможности считать достойным художественного осмысления широкий спектр обыденных явлений и бытовых вещей. Телесный физиологизм, животное начало в человеке, первобытные дикарские импульсы также становились для адамистов излюбленным основанием для их натуралистических изобразительных решений. Этот виталистский подход соединялся с интересом к стихийному, языческому и фольклорно-этнографическому.Носителем страшного у В. Нарбута выступают отвратительно-безобразные вещи, люди, звери, представители народной демонологии (нежить), мистические существа, покойники. Их появление и существование связано с нарушением нормы, деформацией или уродующей болезнью, появлением нечистой силы, господством смерти и тлена. Все это для героев и самого лирического субъекта было проявлением Инакового и вторжением пугающего Иного в повседневную жизнь.Материально-биологическая основа, поданная через призму грубой физиологии, животной борьбы за существование, агрессивной схватки полов, определяет трактовку страшного в поэзии М. Зенкевича. В статье рассмотрено, как в условиях выхода на свет первобытно-животных, диких подсознательных инстинктов рушатся любые наслоения культуры, свершаются страшные преступления и убийства. Эволюция страшного у Зенкевича связана с движением от эсхатологии природно-космического катастрофизма Земли к эсхатологии личности, осмыслению трагизма существования индивида.Поэзия Городецкого связана с народно-поэтической стихией, этнографическими экскурсами, интересом к социальной проблематике, антиурбанизмом. Многие тематические срезы страшного объединяют творчество Городецкого с творчеством литературных собратьев по адамизму: интерес к первичному и изначальному, народной демонологии, ночным кошмарам, смерти. Своеобразие подхода к проблеме страшного у Городецкого проявилось в художественном воплощении мотива маски, скрывающей конфликт между обманным явлением и сущностью вещей: для поэта страшны утрата индивидуальности, безликость и отчуждение.

Abstract

Physical review / D 102(7), 072005 (1-14) (2020). doi:10.1103/PhysRevD.102.072005, We present various properties of the production of the $X(3872)$ and $ψ(2S)$ states based on $10.4 fb^{−1}$ collected by the D0 experiment in Tevatron $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV$. For both states, we measure the nonprompt fraction $f_{NP}$ of the inclusive production rate due to decays of $b$-flavored hadrons. We find the $f_{NP}$ values systematically below those obtained at the LHC. The fNP fraction for $ψ(2S)$ increases with transverse momentum, whereas for the $X(3872)$ it is constant within large uncertainties, in agreement with the LHC results. The ratio of prompt to nonprompt $ψ(2S)$ production, $(1−f_{NP})/f_{NP}$, decreases only slightly going from the Tevatron to the LHC, but for the $X(3872)$, this ratio decreases by a factor of about 3. We test the soft-pion signature of the $X(3872)$ modeled as a weakly bound charm-meson pair by studying the production of the $X(3872)$ as a function of the kinetic energy of the $X(3872)$ and the pion in the $X(3872)π$ center-of-mass frame. For a subsample consistent with prompt production, the results are incompatible with a strong enhancement in the production of the $X(3872)$ at the small kinetic energy of the $X(3872)$ and the π in the $X(3872)π$ center-of-mass frame expected for the $X$+soft-pion production mechanism. For events consistent with being due to decays of $b$ hadrons, there is no significant evidence for the soft-pion effect, but its presence at the level expected for the binding energy of 0.17 MeV and the momentum scale $Λ=M(π)$ is not ruled out., Published by Inst.302363, Melville, NY

36. College students’ motivational attitudes in the educational field

Abstract

The post-Soviet generation of youths dramatically differs from the previous generation. They are not the same people. Youths now live in different conditions, they have different values and behavioral motives. Despite unfavorable socio-economic conditions, which have been prevalent in our country for the past few years, the young generation’s interest in further pursuing education has not withered. As shown earlier by studies we conducted, over 80% of Moscow’s school graduates were very much motivated to apply for college. Meanwhile certain transformations occurring within the lives of individuals and society in general (as well as an evolving labor market) lead to the emergence of ever more specific demands to college educational relations, and to the content and quality of higher education. This study, the key results of which are covered in this article, was conducted in 2017 within a state-coordinated medium term (2012-2018) Moscow city program called “Educational development in Moscow city” (“capital education”). The goal for this research project was to define the interconnections and interdependences, as well as multiple social and psychological motives which determine the social-cognitive activities of college applicants and freshmen students of various educational stages and profiles. The researchers saw their purpose in defining the dominant and peripheral (“background”) factors for motivation of cognitive-intellectual, practice-oriented, communicative or any other nature; analyzing the degree to which they affect college applicants’ choice of school, as well as choice among bachelor and master course students for their preferred training fields during their first year of study; developing a structure for students’ educational motivations. The amount of respondents which partook in the study is N = 1972. This was a random sample. Meanwhile the proportion of surveyed bachelor course students on their first year of study amounted to 76% of the general totality for this specific category of students (as of April 24th 2017); the proportion of surveyed first year master course students for that same period amounted to 68% of the general totality for that category of students. The spectrum of motivational attitudes among respondents, in terms of their college education, can be divided into constructive-pragmatic, passive-evasive, conformist-optimistic and unconstructive-pessimistic. The most significant motivating factors which affected applicants’ choice of college are as follows: independent choice; possibility to receive a scholarship; interesting educational program, high-quality tuition; state college status, and a handful of others. During the course of the study we determined a complex of factors which hamper the education process and have a certain negative influence on the formation of students’ motivational standings: inability to effectively plan time; excessive study load; insufficient quality when it comes to teaching certain subjects, etc. In conclusion, a comprehensive forecast was formulated for the further shaping and development of positive motivational attitudes among potential and active students of specific educational institutions.

Abstract

The p-median problem (PMP) is the well known network optimization problem of discrete location theory. In many real applications PMPs is defined on very large scale networks, for which ad-hoc exact and/or heuristic methods have to be developed. To this aim, in this work we propose a heuristic decomposition approach which exploits the decomposition of the network into disconnected components obtained by a graph clustering algorithm. Then, in each component several PMPs are solved for suitable ranges of p by a Lagrangian dual and simulated annealing based algorithm. The solution of the whole initial problem is obtained combining all the PMPs solutions through a multi-choice knapsack model. The proposed approach is tested using several graph clustering algorithms and compared with the results of the state-of-the-art heuristic methods.

Abstract

We present a study of the inclusive production in $p \overline p $ collisions of the pentaquark states $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$ with the decay to the $J/\psi p$ final state previously observed by the LHCb experiment. Using a sample of candidates originating from decays of $b$-flavored hadrons, we find an enhancement in the $J/\psi p$ invariant mass distribution consistent with a sum of $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$. The significance, with the input parameters set to the LHCb values, is $3.0\sigma$. This is the first confirmatory evidence for these pentaquark states. We measure the ratio $N_{\rm prompt}/N_{\rm nonprompt}=0.05 \pm 0.39$ and set an upper limit of 0.8 at the 95\% credibility level. The ratio of the yield of the $P_c(4312)$ to the sum of $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$ is less than 0.6 at the 95\% credibility level. Abstract

We study the production of the exotic charged charmonium-like state $Z_c^{\pm}(3900)$ in $p \bar p$ collisions through the sequential process $\psi(4260) \rightarrow Z_c^{\pm}(3900) \pi^{\mp}$, $Z_c^{\pm}(3900) \rightarrow J/\psi \pi^{\pm}$. Using the subsample of candidates originating from semi-inclusive weak decays of $b$-flavored hadrons, we measure the invariant mass and natural width to be $M=3902.6^{+5.2}_{-5.0}{\rm \thinspace (stat)}^{+3.3}_{-1.4}{\rm \thinspace (syst)}$ MeV and $\Gamma=32 ^{+28}_{-21}{\rm \thinspace (stat)} ^{+26}_{-7}{\rm \thinspace (syst)}$ MeV, respectively. We search for prompt production of the $Z_c^{\pm}(3900)$ through the same sequential process. No significant signal is observed, and we set an upper limit of 0.66 at the 95\% credibility level on the ratio of prompt production to the production via $b$-hadron decays. Abstract

This article analyses the work of the famous Russian-American sociologist, philosopher, and cultural researcher Pitirim Sorokin, written in his young years and published in the newspaper Vologodsky Listok in 1911. Motley Lace is of interest as a text that is indicative in several respects; in particular, from the point of view of possible reasons for choosing the place of publication, the influence of the nature of the publication on the artistic features of the travelogue, and the realisation of the author’s value reflected in the content of the text. The study of Vologda as a place of publication of the travelogue demonstrates the diversity of the cultural life of the provincial city, the breadth of interests of the readers of Vologodsky Listok which published Sorokin’s travel notes. The article suggests that the author of the travelogue created it counting on mass but educated audience. He sought to win its favour and used imaginative means and stylistic resources accordingly, employing emotive and evaluative vocabulary, an informal tone of conversation, and simple and distinct first-person reasoning appealing to everyday experience. At the same time, the narrator of Motley Lace who appears to be a progressively-minded and honest intellectual uses the newspaper as a platform for the purposes of education and propaganda. Being a convinced social revolutionary, Sorokin denounces social injustice, reveals the shortcomings of the surrounding reality, and expresses sympathy for the destitute. He admires nature and people’s talents. The work is constructed as an essay and documentary description of a real journey, during which the author observes life, meets and talks to fellow travellers and locals, and collects folklore and ethnographic material. What he sees and hears is not only recorded and displayed but is subjected to analysis and critical consideration from the standpoint of priorities and value preferences of the author. On the one hand, Motley Lace fits in several early publications that testify to the keen interest of the young scholar in the national, historical, and ethnographic life of the Komi-Zyryans; on the other hand, it speaks of his involvement in the political life of his time and of his growing interest in the sociocultural problems., В статье анализируется произведение знаменитого русско-американского социолога, философа, исследователя культуры Питирима Сорокина, написанное в его молодые годы и опубликованное в газете «Вологодский листок» в 1911 г. «Пестрое кружево» представляет интерес как текст, показательный в нескольких отношениях — в частности, с точки зрения возможных причин выбора места публикации, влияния характера издания на художественные особенности травелога, а также реализации авторских ценностных представлений, отраженных в содержании текста. Изучение Вологды как места издания травелога показало многообразие культурной жизни губернского города, широту интересов читателей газеты «Вологодский листок», опубликовавшей дорожные заметки Сорокина. В статье высказывается предположение, что автор травелога создавал его с расчетом на массовую, но образованную аудиторию. Он стремился завоевать ее расположение и поэтому использовал соответствующие образные средства и стилистические ресурсы: эмоционально-оценочную лексику, непринужденную разговорность беседы, простые и внятные рассуждения от первого лица, обращение к житейскому опыту. Вместе с тем, прогрессивно мыслящий, честный интеллигент, каковым предстает нарратор «Пестрого кружева», использовал газету как трибуну для просветительских, пропагандистских целей. Будучи социал-революционером по своим политическим убеждениям, Сорокин обличает социальную несправедливость, вскрывает недостатки окружающей действительности, высказывает сочувствие обездоленным людям. Он любуется природой, восторгается народными талантами. Произведение строится как очерково-документальное описание реального путешествия, в ходе которого автор наблюдает жизнь, встречается и разговаривает с попутчиками и местными жителями, собирает фольклор и этнографический материал. Увиденное и услышанное не только фиксируется и отображается, но подвергается аналитике и критическому рассмотрению с позиции приоритетов и ценностных предпочтений автора. «Пестрое кружево», с одной стороны, вписывается в ряд ранних публикаций, свидетельствующих об увлечении молодого ученого национально-исторической, этнографической жизнью коми-зырян, с другой — говорит о его включенности в политическую жизнь современности, растущем интересе к социокультурной проблематике.

Abstract

We present evidence for the exotic charged charmonium-like state $Z_c^{\pm}(3900)$ in semi-inclusive weak decays of $b$-flavored hadrons. The signal is correlated with a $J/\psi \pi^+ \pi^-$ system in the invariant mass range 4.2$-$4.7~GeV and includes the sequential process $b$-quark hadron $ \rightarrow Y(4260) +$ anything, $Y(4260) \rightarrow Z_c^{\pm}(3900) \pi^{\mp}$, $Z_c^{\pm}(3900) \rightarrow J/\psi \pi^{\pm}$. The study is based on $10.4~\rm{fb^{-1}}$ of $p \overline p $ collision data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider., Comment: Version accepted by PRD

Abstract

Physical review letters 120(24), 241802 (2018). doi:10.1103/PhysRevLett.120.241802, We present a measurement of the effective weak mixing angle parameter $\sin^2\theta_\text{eff}^{\ell}$, in $p\bar{p}\rightarrow Z/\gamma^* \rightarrow \mu^+\mu^-$ events at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV, collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider and corresponding to 8.6 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. The measured value of $\sin^2\theta_\text{eff}^{\ell}[\mu\mu]=0.23016 \pm 0.00064$ is further combined with the result from the D0 measurement in $p\bar{p}\rightarrow Z/\gamma^{*}\rightarrow e^{+} e^{-}$ events, resulting in $\sin^2\theta_\text{eff}^{\ell} [\text{comb.}]=0.23095 \pm 0.00040$. This combined result is the most precise measurement from a single experiment at a hadron collider and is the most precise determination using the coupling of the $Z/\gamma^*$ to light quarks., Published by APS, College Park, Md.

Abstract

We present a study of the $X^\pm(5568)$ using semileptonic decays of the $B_s^0$ meson using the full Run II integrated luminosity of 10.4 fb$^{-1}$ in proton-antiproton collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96\,TeV collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We report evidence for a narrow structure, $X^\pm(5568)$, in the decay sequence $X^\pm(5568) \to B_s^0 \pi^\pm$ where $B_s^0 \rightarrow \mu^\mp D_s^\pm \, \mathrm{X}$, $D_s^\pm \rightarrow \phi \pi^{\pm}$ which is consistent with the previous measurement by the D0 collaboration in the hadronic decay mode, $X^\pm(5568) \to B^0_s \pi^\pm$ where $B^0_s \to J/\psi\phi$. The mass and width of this state are measured using a combined fit of the hadronic and semileptonic data, yielding $m = 5566.9 ^{+3.2}_{-3.1} \thinspace {\rm (stat)} ^{+0.6}_{-1.2} {\rm \thinspace (syst)}$\,MeV/$c^2$, $\Gamma = 18.6 ^{+7.9}_{-6.1} {\rm \thinspace (stat)} ^{+3.5}_{-3.8} {\rm \thinspace (syst)} $\,MeV/$c^2$ with a significance of 6.7$\,\sigma$., Comment: 19 pages, 12 figures, updated to version acepted by {hys. Abstract

This article considers poetry published in Ural periodicals between 1917 and 1919. It mainly comprises journalistic newspaper verses that are of interest from the point of view of how they reflect public opinion about the events of the 1917 revolutions and the Civil War in the Urals. The range of judgments and assessments of the events in question is determined not only by personal and political preferences, but primarily by the collective notions that are characteristic of mass consciousness. The author of the article concentrates on this aspect. He is interested in stable motifs and images that go back to the collective unconscious of the Ural public. To designate these universals immersed in tradition, he sometimes employs overlapping concepts: topos, archetype, and mythologeme. They assimilate various mental spheres — politics, religion, everyday consciousness, and establish a correlation of an image with timeless scales and thereby take the modeling of that image of the revolution to a higher level of figurative generalisations. The article examines individual figural details and motifs (parallels Revolution — Easter, connections with calendar rituals, seasons, agrarian mythology, colour and light symbols), as well as the meta-story of revolutionary poetry that included the modifying figures of the Hero, Enemy, Victim, depicted Revolution as a struggle and a difficult path to paradise (communism). As a result, the author of the article comes to the conclusion that reliance on common cultural experience based on archetypal principles promotes a profound and fruitful comprehension of life in the era of a historical crisis affecting the interests of the general public., В работе изучается поэзия, опубликованная в уральских периодических изданиях 1917–1919 гг. Это в основном публицистические газетные стихи, представляющие интерес с точки зрения выражения общественного мнения относительно событий революций 1917 г. и Гражданской войны на Урале. Диапазон суждений и оценок этих событий определяется не только личными и партийными пристрастиями и предпочтениями, но прежде всего коллективными представлениями, присущими массовому сознанию. Именно на этом аспекте и сосредоточивается автор статьи. Его интересуют устойчивые мотивы и образы, восходящие к коллективному бессознательному уральской общественности. Для обозначения этих погруженных в традицию универсалий используются близкие, порой пересекающиеся понятия: топос, архетип, мифологема. Они ассимилируют в себе разные ментальные сферы — политику, религию, обыденное сознание, соотносят изображение с вневременными масштабами и тем самым выводят моделирование образа революции на более высокий уровень образных обобщений. В статье исследованы отдельные образные детали и мотивы (параллели Революция — Пасха; связь с календарной обрядностью, временами года, аграрной мифологией; цветовая и световая символика), а также метасюжет революционной поэзии, который включал в себя модифицирующиеся фигуры Героя, Врага, Жертвы, изображал революцию как борьбу и трудный путь к раю (коммунизму). Автор статьи в итоге приходит к выводам, что опора на общий культурный опыт, основанный на архетипических началах, способствует глубокому и плодотворному осмыслению жизни в эпоху исторического перелома, затрагивающего интересы широких масс общественности.

Abstract

Physical review / D 95(3), 031101 (2017). doi:10.1103/PhysRevD.95.031101, We present the first measurement of the CP violating charge asymmetry in $B^{±} → μ^{±} ν_{μ}D^0$ decays using the full Run II integrated luminosity of 10.4 fb$^{-1}$ in proton-antiproton collisions collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We measure a difference in the yield of $B^-$ and $B^+$ mesons in these decays by fitting the reconstructed invariant mass distributions. This results in an asymmetry of $A^{μ}$ $^{D}$ $^{0}$ = [-0.14±0.20]%, which is consistent with standard model predictions., Published by Inst., Woodbury, NY

Abstract

Physical review / D 95(1), 011101 (2017). doi:10.1103/PhysRevD.95.011101, We present a measurement of top quark polarization in $t \overline{t}$ pair production in $p \overline{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 1.96 TeV using data corresponding to 9.7 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity recorded with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We consider final states containing a lepton and at least three jets. The polarization is measured through the distribution of lepton angles along three axes: the beam axis, the helicity axis, and the transverse axis normal to the tt¯ production plane. This is the first measurement of top quark polarization at the Tevatron using lepton+jet final states and the first measurement of the transverse polarization in $t \overline{t}$ production.
