Two closely related species of the genus Piribelba (Oribatida, Damaeidae) are redescribed based on morphology of adults and developmental instars. Redescription of P. rossica (Bulanova-Zachvatkina, 1957) is based on specimens collected in Russia, including specimens identified by Bulanova-Zachvatkina; redescription of P. piriformis (Mihelčič, 1964) is based on specimens collected in Europe, including Mihelčič’s types. COX1 sequence barcoding of P. piriformis and P. rossica indicated that they are distinct species, having 12.0% uncorrected p-distances and 13.3% Kimura two-parameter distances (K2P). Based on the morphological and genetical differences, the synonymy of P. rossica and P. piriformis is rejected. A key to known species of Piribelba is provided.

The morphological ontogeny of Eubelba danubedeltaica sp. nov. is described and illustrated. The adult of E. danubedeltaica is most similar to E. sculpta (Mihelčič, 1957) which differs from E. danubedeltaica by the presence of tubercle E2p, slightly longer seta c1 and leg IV, and thicker and clearly barbed epimeral, genital, aggenital and anal setae whereas in E. danubedeltaica tubercle E2p is absent and these setae are thinner and most are smooth, except for finely barbed genital and anal setae that are clearly visible at a high SEM magnification. In the juveniles of E. danubedeltaica, most prodorsal setae are of medium size, except for short seta in in the nymphs and very long setiform bothridial seta which are strongly curved in the distal part. Most gastronotal setae of juveniles are long, or very long, except for medium-sized c3, la, lm and h2, and short h3 in the larva, and medium-sized c3 and p2 in nymphs. The nymphs are quadrideficient and eupheredermous, i.e. they have lost the d-series setae and carry the exuvial scalps of previous instars using a cornicle located between setal pair h3. In all juveniles, the famulus ɛ on tarsus I is sunken but is emergent in the adult. Seta d accompanies solenidion σ on genua I–III and φ on tibiae II–IV.

The present study is based on galumnid mites (Oribatida, Galumnidae) collected from leaf litter of two mixed forests in Cuba; six species from three genera are identified. Three new species—Pergalumna (Pergalumna) cienfuegosensis sp. nov., P. (P.) foveolatostriata sp. nov. and Galumna (G.) gigantea sp. nov.—are described. Allogalumna brevisetosa (Bayartogtokh & Weigmann, 2005) is recorded in the Neotropical region for the first time; P. (P.) obvia (Berlese, 1914) is recorded in Cuba for the first time.

Metabelba (Pateribelba) flagelliseta Bulanova-Zachvatkina, 1965 is redescribed based on the newly sampled material from Crimea and investigation of the specimens from the collection of Bulanova-Zachvatkina. Metabelba (Metabelba) pseudoflagelliseta Kolesnikov & Murvanidze sp. nov. is described from Caucasus, Georgia. Both species have similar morphology, characterized by flagellated notogastral setae and same set of tubercles, but differ by presence or absence of apophysis P and shape of the dorsal seta on femora III–IV. Considering the importance of these morphological characters we assign these species to different subgenera.

A new oribatid mite genus, Coronabelba n. gen., with its type species, Coronabelba unicornis n. sp., belonging to the family Damaeidae, is proposed and described from Abkhazia. The new genus differs from the close genus Metabelba Grandjean, 1936 by shape of notogaster, shape of notogastral setae and their insertions on distinct apophyses and leg chaetotaxy (nine setae on femora I-II). The type species differs from the other known representative of the genus, Coronabelba platynotus Grandjean, 1954 n. comb. by the absence of prodorsal tubercles, the presence of distinct prodorsal protuberance and some characters of the ventral side and legs. The systematic placement of the new taxa within related taxons is discussed.

A new species of oribatid mite from Kazakhstan, belonging to the genus Dyobelba Norton, 1978 (Oribatida, Damaeidae), is described based on adult and tritonymphal instar. Dyobelba verae sp. nov. can be distinguished from the other species of Dyobelba its the thick notogastral setae, the presence prodorsal tubercles Ba and ventrosejugal tubercles V, absence of Bp, Da, Dp and apophysis P, the short, broadly rounded parastigmatic tubercles, and its short legs with heavily and coarsely barbed leg setae. The structural features of Dyobelba tritonymphs are discussed.

Most species of the mite genus Winterschmidtia Oudemans, 1923 are associated with bark beetles. These mites are predacious on eggs of their coleopteran hosts and may be potential biocontrol agents for pest species of bark beetles. Here we describe three new species of Winterschmidtia from Peru based on phoretic deutonymphs: W. parallela sp. nov. (from Loganius flavicornis), W. alekhini sp. nov. (from Phloeotribus biguttatus) and W. reducta sp. nov. (from Phloeotribus pilula). The name Calvolia fusiformis Zachvatkin, 1941 was recombined as Winterschmidtia fusiformis (Zachvatkin, 1941) com. nov. An illustrated key to species of the genus Winterschmidtia (phoretic deutonymphs) of the world is provided.

Oribatid mite fauna of Vietnam is most studied among countries of Continental Southeast Asia but due to the brief history of detailed research, discoveries of new species are expected. Descriptions of two new species of oribatid mites (Oribatida) of the family Galumnidae—Flagellozetes (Cosmogalumna) sacculus sp. nov. and F. (C.) lineatus sp. nov.—are presented based on specimens collected from rainforest soil of Bi Dup—Nui Ba National Park (southern Vietnam). F. (C.) sacculus sp. nov. differs from other species by the presence of saccules and rare diamond-shaped granules on pteromorphs. F. (C.) lineatus sp. nov. differs from F. (C.) ekaterinae (Ermilov & Friedrich, 2016) and F. (C.) dongnaiensis (Ermilov & Anichkin, 2013) by the presence of striate pteromorph, genital and anal plates, median pore, and centrodorsal part of notogaster ornamentation represented by neural ridges band.

The description of a new species of oribatid mites (Oribatida) of the family Zetorchestidae—Zetorchestes krisperi sp. nov.—is proposed based on adult and tritonymph specimens collected from rainforest soil of Bi Dup-Nui Ba National Park (southern Vietnam). We also review the distinguishing characteristics for Zetorchestes species and present an identification key to Zetorchestes species of the world. Diagnostic features of Zetorchestes nymphs are discussed.

A new genus and species, Unguitarsonemus paradoxus n. gen., n. sp. and a new species, Pseudotarsonemoides peruviensis n. sp. (Acari: Trombidiformes: Tarsonemidae), are described based on phoretic females collected on bark beetles Phloeotribus pilula and Ph. biguttatus, respectively, from Peru. A key to species of the genus Pseudotarsonemoides is provided.

Based on morphological and molecular studies of material from caves in three karst regions of Crimea, the small, apparently relictual, Euro-Mediterranean and Macaronesian false scorpion genus Pseudoblothrus Beier, 1931 is shown to contain only one troglobiont species there, P. roszkovskii (Redikorzev, 1918), of which P. ljovuschkini Krumpál, 1984 and Obisium tauricum Lebedev, 1927 are junior subjective synonyms. A detailed redescription of the adults and tritonymph of P. roszkovskii is provided, together with phylogenetic and zoogeographical analyses.

Belba paracorynopus Bulanova-Zachvatkina, 1962 is redescribed on the basis of new material collected in Georgia and damaged paratypes of Bulanova-Zachvatkina. The species belongs to the Belba corynopus group and differs from other species of the group by the size and form of notogastral setae, formation of the prodorsum and detailed chaetotaxy of legs. Variability of certain traits and differences to the original description and material are discussed, as well as the relation to other species of this group. The finding in Georgia extends the known area of distribution from Far East and China to the west.

The species shares many important characters of Metabelba Grandjean, 1936, particularly of the subgenus M. (Pateribelba) Mourek, Miko et Bernini, 2011. It can be easily distinguished by presence of companion seta d, coupled with solenidion on tibia IV. As the original material of Bulanova-Zachvatkina was lost, neotype and 14 paraneotypes from Voronezh region, Russia are newly designated. Based on the neotype redescription, Neobelba was re-defined and the new status was proposed. Synonymy with Metabelba s. str. as proposed by Subías (2013) is rejected, and Neobelba is considered to be a separate subgenus of Metabelba, as earlier proposed by Subías (2004). Present distribution of Metabelba (Neobelba) pseudopapillipes (Bulanova-Zachvatkina, 1967) and known ecological data on the species are provided.
