- Abstract
Aorto-esophageal fistula is a rare but life-threatening source of massive upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Prompt diagnosis and intervention are key for patient survival. Treatments consist of aortic resection, thoracic endovascular aortic repair, esophagectomy with diversion, and primary esophageal repair. The appropriate treatment is dependent on patient hemodynamics and fitness and familiarity with operative approaches by the treating team., Competing Interests: Disclosure Dr L.J.
