The National Suicide Prevention Strategy was launched by India on November 21, 2022. It was the first step toward making suicide prevention a public health priority with the aim of a 10% reduction in suicide mortality by 2030. The present article incorporates the reflections by mental health professionals in India by emphasizing on the sociocultural contexts, diversity, the training of the professionals, ethical dilemmas, the need for early intervention, and risk assessment along with a more comprehensive method of implementation of the policy.

Cancer and tuberculosis are the most common illnesses in the world; however, their coexistence is not uncommon and a challenge for pathologists and clinicians. The instances of mucinous carcinoma and disseminated tuberculosis are exceptional. Here, we present such a rare case of incidentally detected mucinous carcinoma of the breast with disseminated miliary tuberculosis in a 59-year-old female. The pertinent literature is being reviewed.

Metaplastic carcinomas of the breast are malignant neoplasms composed of a mixture of epithelial and mesenchymal elements. They are rare with incidence of lesser than 1% of invasive breast carcinoma. The present case of metaplastic breast carcinoma in a 47-year-old lady is reported since it posed a diagnostic dilemma at histopathology and also highlights the importance of immunohistochemistry to rule out various differentials. Identification of this rare entity is of significance in view of the varied prognostic implication.

Group lending is useful in channelling credit to the self-employed poor in developing countries, to whom banks usually prefer not to lend, and formation of self-help groups (SHGs) helps facilitate this. In India, SHGs can access credit through private microfinance organisations or can approach banks through a state-led bank-linkage programme. Scholars argue that transaction costs are high while borrowing from banks despite relatively lower interest rates, making this uneconomical. This article uses a field survey to estimate transaction costs, presents other social benefits of the programme, and finds empirical justifications for strengthening the bank-linkage programme.
