The article focuses on the economic conditions of Suriname since its independence. It says that Suriname is a prosperous country in 1975, with high gross domestic product (GDP), however, it experience deterioration in its economy since its independence, it states that the poor economic performance of Suriname are due its poor policies and poor governance. Moreover, it discusses the requirements in having a macroeconomic policy toward economic development and growth.
