This study investigated 400 patients with a mean age of 50 years, 353 (82.25%) of which were female.Results: The study showed that 44.3%, 83.5%, 60.3%, 41.8%, 37.5%, and 11.5% had an acute onset of the disease, symmetrical polyarthritis, morning stiffness exceeding 1 h, dry eyes, dry mouth, and rheumatoid nodules, respectively. A total of 89.7% presented with positive rheumatoid factor, and 96.5% were anti-citrullinated protein antibody positive.Conclusion: This is the largest Ecuadorian cohort of patients with RA; clinical features are similar to those of other Latin American populations. The objective of this study was to compare the cost-effectiveness of VOR+ANI with VOR, from the perspective of hospitals in the Spanish National Health System.Methods: An economic model with deterministic and probabilistic analyses was used to determine costs per life-year gained (LYG) for VOR+ANI versus VOR in patients with galactomannan-based IA. Mortality, adverse event rates, and life expectancy were obtained from clinical trial data. The costs (in 2015 euros [€]) of the drugs and the adverse event-related costs were obtained from Spanish sources. A Tornado plot and a Monte Carlo simulation (1,000 iterations) were used to assess uncertainty of all model variables.Results: According to the deterministic analysis, for each patient treated with VOR+ANI compared with VOR monotherapy, there would be a total of 0.348 LYG (2.529 vs 2.181 years, respectively) at an incremental cost of €5,493 (€17,902 vs €12,409, respectively). Consequently, the additional cost per LYG with VOR+ANI compared with VOR would be €15,785. Deterministic sensitivity analyses confirmed the robustness of these findings. In the probabilistic analysis, the cost per LYG with VOR+ANI was €15,774 (95% confidence interval: €15,763–16,692). The probability of VOR+ANI being cost-effective compared with VOR was estimated at 82.5% and 91.9%, based on local cost-effectiveness thresholds of €30,000 and €45,000, respectively.Conclusion: According to the present economic study, combination therapy with VOR+ANI is cost-effective as primary therapy of IA in galactomannan-positive patients in Spain who have hematologic disease or hematopoietic stem cell transplant, compared with VOR monotherapy. Potato virus S (PVS) is a prevalent virus in potato fields in Colombia and the rest of the world. PVS has been classified into two separate lineages, PVSO (Ordinary) and PVSA (Andean), which are genetically distinct. In this study, the complete genome sequence of a new PVS isolate (PVS_Antioquia) was obtained using High-throughput sequencing (Illumina HiSeq-2000) from tuber sprouts of Solanum phureja (var. Criolla Colombia). The PVS_Antioquia genome comprises 8,483 nt that code for six ORFs: RdRp (223 kDa), TGBp1-3 (25kDa, 12kDa, 7kDa) CP (32.3 kDa) and NABP (11 kDa) and share a high sequence identity with respect to the PVS_RVC (>95%) from Colombia, in contrast to 81 to 82% identity with respect to the PVSA and PVSO isolates from around the world. This genome information was used to design RT-qPCR primers that are specific for the Colombian PVS strains (RVC and Antioquia) which were validated in S. phureja leaf and tuber samples. These primers detected PVS in 80 and 60% of a set of fifteen leaf and tuber samples, respectively, suggesting a high incidence of this virus in the potato crops of Antioquia.

Este trabajo analiza la evolución del sector de telecomunicaciones y su impacto sobre la convergencia de la estructura de los mercados y la definición de políticas para el sector de Tecnologías de Información y Comunicaciones para identificar los aspectos regulatorios sensibles y otros aspectos que aún no se han abordado en profundidad. Los modelos de regulación han respondido a los retos que plantean el mercado y el desarrollo tecnológico, pero se requieren modelos que anticipen las innovaciones. Por ello es necesaria una nueva generación de regulación, que genere sinergias para hacer compatibles las normas del sector, y evaluar el impacto de las políticas en aspectos sociales, económicos y culturales asociados con la ubicuidad de las redes y de la información.

A partir de tres cruzamientos dialélicos entre poblaciones con diferente grado de endocría (S0 x S0; S1 x S1; S2 x S2) se seleccionaron 11 familias promisorias teniendo en cuenta el contenido de materia seca, producción por planta y calidad de fruto para consumo en fresco. Se realizaron dos ciclos de recombinación genética y selección ínter e intrapoblacional. Se escogieron cuatro familias las cuales fueron evaluadas en un ensayo de rendimiento en el Centro Experimental de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia sede Palmira (Ceunp). La familia de mejor desempeño se evaluó comparativamente con otras seis, incluyendo el testigo comercial Unapal Bolo Verde, en pruebas regionales, en tres localidades del Valle del Cauca, durante dos semestres consecutivos (2008 B- 2009A). Por su excelente comportamiento en producción (15 kg/planta), contenido de materia seca (> 16%), 3.5 kg/fruto y 5 frutos/planta y calidad de fruto para consumo en fresco, esta familia originó la nueva variedad de zapallo, conocida con el nombre comercial Unapal-Dorado.From three diallelic crossings, among populations with different degree of inbreeding (S0 x S0; S1 x S1; S2 x S2), 11 family with high dry matter, production by plant and fruit quality for consumption in fresh were selected. Two cycles of genetic recombination and selection were carried out. Four selected genotypes were evaluated the Centro Experimental de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia sede Palmira (CEUNP). The genotype of better performance was evaluated comparatively with others six families, including the control Unapal Bolo Verde, in regional tests, in three localities of the Valle del Cauca, during two consecutive semesters (2008 B - 2009A). By its excellent behavior in production (15 kg/planta), content of dry matter (higher than 16%), 3,5 kg by fruit, and five fruits by plant, quality of fruit for consumption in fresh, this family of better performance originated the pumpkin new cultivar, with the commercial name of Unapal Dorado.

Se realizó la evaluación de poblaciones segregantes producidas a partir de cruzamientos entre tomate S. lycopersicum L. cv. maravilla y la accesión silvestre PI134418 de S. habrochaites var. glabratum resistente al pasador del fruto N. elegantalis. Se encontró que hay dominancia de los alelos que disminuyen la expresión del caraacute;cter peso promedio de fruto. El método del retrocruzamiento resultó maacute;s eficiente que el de la autofecundación, para contrarrestar la dominancia de los alelos que codifican por el tamaño pequeño del fruto. Los tricomas y el número promedio de frutos por racimo no ejercieron ningún efecto sobre el ataque de los frutos por parte del pasador; mientras que el peso promedio de fruto sí tuvo efecto importante sobre dicho ataque, de tal manera que el insecto tiende a producir mayor daño a medida que se incrementa el peso promedio de fruto. Las poblaciones RC1 y RC2 se comportaron como las típicas segregantes para los caracteres evaluados y exhibieron amplia variabilidad en los mismos. El método del retrocruzamiento fue efectivo para romper la asociación negativa entre el peso promedio de fruto y la resistencia al insecto. El peso promedio de algunos de los frutos en los recombinantes RC2 fluctuó entre 45.1 y 68.6 g y mostraron resistencia al pasador.Evaluation of segregating populations from crosses between cultivated tomato S. lycopersicum L. cv. maravilla and PI134418 wild accession of Solanum habrochaites var. glabratum with resistance to the fruit borer N. elegantalis was made. There was dominance of alleles that decrease the expression of the character mean fruit weight. The backcrossing method was more efficient than selfing in order to counteract the dominance of alleles that encode by small fruit size. The thrichomes and the mean number of fruit per bunch did not produce any effect on the fruit attack by the fruit borer; while that mean fruit weight had important effect on this attack, therefore, the insect tends to produce more damage with the increasing in the mean fruit weight. The RC1 and RC2 populations showed segregating typical behavior for evaluated characters, presenting high variability in all of them. The backcrossing method was effective to break the negative association between mean fruit weight and the resistance to the insect. The mean fruit weight in the RC2 recombinant was between 45.1 and 68.6 g and showed resistance to the fruit borer.

Se realizó la caracterización molecular mediante el polimorfismo en la longitud de fragmentos amplificados (AFLP) de 121 introducciones de C. moschata, del Banco de Germoplasma del Programa de Investigación en Hortalizas de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia Sede Palmira, provenientes de ocho departamentos de Colombia. Los datos AFLP se evaluaron utilizando análisis de correspondencia múltiple (ACM), distancia genética, análisis genético con el programa TFPGA y el método de agrupamiento UPGMA. La diversidad genética de estas introducciones fue alta y estuvo de acuerdo con la diversidad morfoagronómica estudiada previamente. Los valores Fst indicaron que existe estructura genética entre la mayoría de las introducciones. La mayoría de la variación genética entre las introducciones se atribuyó a variación entre individuos dentro de cada departamento.The molecular characterization was carried out by means of the amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) of 121 introductions of C. moschata, of the germoplasm bank of the Vegetables Research Program of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia campus Palmira, originating from eight departments of Colombia . The AFLP data were evaluated utilizing multiple correspondence analysis (MCA), genetic distance, genetic analysis with the TFPGA program and the UPGMA cluster analysis. The genetic diversity of these introductions was high and was according with the morphoagronomic diversity previously studied. The Fst values indicated that exist genetic structure between most of the introductions. The most of the genetic variation between the introductions corresponded to variations between them inside each department.

Mediante RAPD's se analizaron 120 muestras foliares de 12 biotipos de Guadua angustifolia Kunth clasificados morfológicamente, procedentes de la cuenca del río Cauca, en el departamento del Cauca, Colombia, para determinar diversidad genética. El ADN se extrajo mediante el protocolo modificado de Dellaporta (1983). Se emplearon los cebadores; OPF-12, OPG-19, OPN-19 y OPP-16 con mayor número de bandas polimórficas. El índice de Shannon (HT = 0.4556 ± 0.1849) señaló diversidad genética total alta y diversidad entre los biotipos y al interior de ellos. El Índice de estructura genética (Gst = 0.5200) e Indice de migración efectiva (Nm = 0.4615) definieron biotipos bien diferenciados. El análisis de similaridad conformó tres grupos a un coeficiente de 0.64. El grupo G1 incluyó los biotipos Curvado, Rayada frecuente, Amarilla Playón, Rayada ancha, Rayada escasa, Convexa, Amarilla, Hembra, Verde irregular y algunos individuos de verde alta. El grupo G2, Verde alta y Macho. El grupo G3, Rayada negra. El estudio molecular agrupó los individuos de forma similar al estudio morfológico, con excepción de los individuos del biotipo Hembra. Este estudio fue realizado en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia y el Centro Internacional de Agricultura Tropical CIAT, para evaluar la meiosis se utilizaron las metodologías adaptadas por Dempsey (1993). Se observaron irregularidades tales como ascensión precoz de cromosomas, termi­nación tardía de quiasmas, adherencia cromosómica, formación de tétradas con microcitos y poliadas que llevaron a desbalances cromosómicos y a la producción de gametos inviables. Se verificó relativa estabilidad meiótica, medida a través del porcentaje de tétradas de microsporas viables o índice meiótico (IM). Aunque el IM fue de 77.3 %, la viabilidad polínica fue 11.4%, lo que sugiere que pudieron actuar genes mutantes en la post-meiosis. El tamaño del polen fue mediano, con 28.0 μm de diámetro ecuatorial y 26.9 μm de eje polar en vista ecuatorial, oblato esferoidal, tipo de área polar, grande y abertura corta, triaperturado, tricolporado, y zonoaperturado, perforado y tectado (microscopia de luz y electrónica de barrido MEB). Ensayos preliminares mostraron baja viabilidad y germinación de semillas. Palabras claves: Lippia alba, Verbenaceae, meiosis, viabilidad polínica, morfología polínica.

Se colectaron, caracterizaron morfológicamente y evaluaron agronómicamente 133 accesiones de Cucurbita moschata en Colombia (departamentos del Cauca, Valle del Cauca, Risaralda, Quindío, Caldas, Antioquia, Bolívar, Magdalena y Atlántico), las cuales presentaron alta diversidad en tamaño, forma y color de fruto. Los descriptores pubescencia de la hoja, color mancha de la hoja, días a floración masculina, días a floración femenina, espesor de pulpa, tamaño de semilla, forma de margen de semilla, ancho de fruto y peso promedio de fruto permitieron la diferenciación de grupos. Se encontró un índice de diversidad de 62% entre las accesiones colectadas en los departamentos de la región andina con las de la Costa Atlántica. Ninguno de los grupos presentó índices de similaridad del 100%. ABSTRACT This study was carried at Candelaria (Colombia), from August 2001 to July 2003. This study aimed at evaluating, by multivariate analyses techniques, the genetic diversity of 133 accesions, collected from distinct areas of regions of Colombia. The experimental design was of randomized complete blocks with four replications. The data (average) were collected from three plants per plot. Thirteen nine traits were evaluated, 9 vegetatives, 24 reproductives and 1 related to susceptibility to stress. The data were analysed using the herarquical method of WARD and were transformed into a complete disjunctive table, where the modalities of each character is a new variable. The analysis revealed five cluster, with to R2 = 97% and diversity index 62%. The most important characteristics to explain the variability were: days to first female and male flower, fruit width, fruit weight, flesh thickness, leaf pubescence dorsal and ventral surface, colour of leaf spots and seed size. The 5, 7, 47 , 109 and 28 accesion might be recommended for breeding programs. Keywords: Cucurbita moschata, Germplasm, Genetic resources, plant breeding, Morphology characterization.

Se realizó el estudio genético del carácter rendimiento y sus componentes primarios número de frutos y tamaño del fruto (peso fruto, peso del lóculo, largo y ancho del fruto) y días a floración, empleando la metodología propuesta por Hayman (1954a, 1954b). Para el efecto se empleó un diseño dialélico para el cruzamiento de 10 x 10 cultivares de pimentón (LPUNA L, Yolo Wonder, Keystone Resistant Giant, Pimentao Amarelo, Morviones, Avelar, California Wonder, Roque 8-B, Red Pepper, y L-363-46-672), Sin considerar los reciprocas. No se detectó presencia de epistasis, excepto para la variable rendimiento, y los datos experimentales se ajustaron al modelo aditivo­ domillante. La dominancia fue muy importante en la expresión del rendimiento por planta y días a floración, y poco importante para número de frutos por planta, peso promedio de fruto y ancho de fruto. Pudo observarse sobredominancia para días a floración. Los estimativos de los coeficientes de heredabilidad en sentido estricto (h). para los caracteres rendimiento por planta, número de frutos por planta, peso promedio del fruto, peso promedio del lóculo, longitud del fruto, ancho del fruto, y días a floración, fueron 0.681,0.802, 0.772, 0.734,0.666 Y 0.587, respectivamente.
