Abstract

Mesofauna represents a major component of soil biological community and play a critical role in maintaining soil quality, as well as a range of ecosystem functions. A split-split plot design was performed with the aim of identifying the main predictors (phytogeographical criteria, cover type and environmental variables) of edaphic community structure under the effect of desertification. The study also aimed to examine the spatial and seasonal distribution of mesofauna community according to phytogeographical criteria (shrubland vs grassland) and cover type (bare vs covered soil) in the north-western Patagonian steppe of Argentina. The relationship between edaphic fauna, environmental variables and site location was investigated using redundancy analysis (RDA), while the main predictors of edaphic community were analysed using generalised linear mixed models (GLMMs). A total of 43 taxa of Oribatida were found in 168 samples. GLMM approaches selected cover type due to its higher effect on mesofauna community. In this sense, cover type was more important than phytogeographical criteria and environmental variables as predictor of mesofauna community. These findings contribute to a better understanding of how the distribution of mesofauna community respond in Patagonia steppe. Abstract

The evolution of the meteorite flux to the Earth can be studied by determining the terrestrial ages of meteorite collected in hot deserts. We have measured the terrestrial ages of 54 stony meteorites from the El M\'edano area, in the Atacama Desert, using the cosmogenic nuclide chlorine 36. With an average age of 710 ka, this collection is the oldest collection of non fossil meteorites at the Earth's surface. This allows both determining the average meteorite flux intensity over the last 2 Myr (222 meteorites larger than 10 g per km2 per Myr) and discussing its possible compositional variability over the Quaternary period. A change in the flux composition, with more abundant H chondrites, occurred between 0.5 and 1 Ma, possibly due to the direct delivery to Earth of a meteoroid swarm from the asteroid belt., Comment: accepted in Geology

Abstract

En este trabajo se analizan los conflictos vecinales derivados del régimen de propiedad en condominio, bajo el cual se adquieren las viviendas de interés social promovidas por las instituciones del gobierno mexicano, así como por desarrolladores privados. Este régimen ha facilitado el acceso a la vivienda a la población asalariada, pero está lejos de contribuir a la consecución del derecho a la misma. La investigación toma como casos de estudio conjuntos habitacionales ubicados en la ciudad de Tijuana, Baja California, México. El análisis incluyó una metodología mixta. En primer lugar, se analizaron casos de estudio similares; en segundo lugar, se realizó la revisión de la Ley del Régimen de Propiedad en Condominio para conocer sus implicaciones. Ante la situación de pandemia, se aplicó una encuesta de manera virtual a los habitantes de estas zonas, así como entrevistas con presidentes de comités vecinales de estos conjuntos. A partir de lo anterior, se pudo constatar que esta forma de propiedad genera conflictos, reflejados en la insatisfacción de los habitantes con su vivienda, desacuerdos y controversias en su organización y convivencia. Los habitantes tienen que resolver de forma colectiva las problemáticas que enfrentan, relacionadas con el mantenimiento y uso de áreas comunes, inseguridad, limpieza, entre otros. Además, se observa la falta de apoyo de las autoridades locales. Con ello, se concluye que si bien los habitantes cuentan con un espacio que resuelve su problema de alojamiento, no logra ser un espacio que garantice adecuadamente su derecho a la vivienda.
