Dissertação (mestrado) - Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Administração Bibliografia: p. 139-144 Resumo: Esta dissertação, um estudo de caso descritivo, teve como objetivo investigar como é o processo produtivo do Uber na economia da partilha, entre o compartilhamento, o mercado e a sustentabilidade. Na construção teórica, abordou-se o compartilhamento como um sistema de distribuição diferente do mercado e da dádiva. Sua proliferação representa novos meios de acessar e fornecer bens e serviços, com potenciais benefícios ao meio ambiente. Uma nova geração de negócios contempla dualismos entre compartilhamento e mercado que tornou mais difícil definir o que é e o que não é partilha e concluiu-se que há um mercado da partilha, onde as propriedades individuais de capacidade de produção descentralizada são vendidas em mercados para o acesso de outras pessoas. O Uber, escolhido como objeto empírico, é um aplicativo móvel de intermediação de passageiros e motoristas e comporta muitos desses dualismos. Utilizando-se de uma metodologia qualitativa, vinte motoristas foram entrevistados e coletaram-se dados das interfaces de comunicação e produção do Uber, que foram possibilitadas pela participação do pesquisador como motorista e como passageiro do Uber na cidade de Belo Horizonte. Os dados da pesquisa apresentaram diversas relações do Uber com a mobilidade e a sustentabilidade, em meio às deficiências dos modais coletivos, à concorrência com os táxis e aos hábitos de transporte dos passageiros. Foram observados atributos tanto de mercado quanto de compartilhamento no processo produtivo do Uber. Constatou-se que além de gerar renda, ser motorista do Uber é um trabalho flexível, motivado pela crise e pelo desemprego, mas, também, uma atividade tida como provisória e de resultados incertos. Os resultados revelam que as pessoas estão usando menos seus próprios carros ao usar o Uber, embora o hábito de andar de carro se mantenha. Acerca da mobilidade sustentável, os potenciais não são explorados pela empresa. Conclui-se que o Uber não é economia da partilha, mas há economia da partilha entre motoristas e entre motoristas e passageiros do Uber. Motoristas se tornam amigos e agem em cooperação. Eles criam um ambiente amistoso e de confiança com passageiros para novos negócios entre si. Esta dissertação contribui teoricamente para o desenvolvimento do tema economia da partilha, com o foco nos processos produtivos, nas formas de trabalho sob demanda e na interação entre esses trabalhadores. Os resultados contribuem para as discussões e o avanço do conhecimento na área de mobilidade sustentável e sobre o carro compartilhado no Brasil. Abstract: This dissertation, a descriptive case study, was aimed to investigate Ubers productive process in the sharing economy, between sharing, market and sustainability. In the theoretical construction, sharing was approached as a distribution system different from the market and the gift. Its proliferation represents new means of accessing and providing goods and services with potential benefits to the environment. A new generation of businesses contemplates dualisms between sharing and market that made it harder to define what is and what is not sharing and concluded that there is a sharing market where individual Properties of decentralized production capacity are sold in markets for other peoples access. Uber, chosen as an empirical object, is a mobile application that intermediates passengers and drivers and it has many of these dualisms. Using a qualitative methodology, twenty drivers were interviewed and data were collected from Uber's communication and production interfaces, which were made possible by the researcher's participation as a driver and as a passenger in the city of Belo Horizonte. In the analysis of the data, Uber's relations with mobility and sustainability, between the deficiencies of the collective modes, competition with taxis and the transportation habits of the passengers were observed; mixes of attributes between market and sharing, as well as the economic intention to enter, the ease of getting in and out with the car available itself, and the relationships between drivers and between drivers and passengers. It is noted that in addition to generating income, being a driver is a flexible job opportunity, motivated by crisis and unemployment, but also an unwanted activity with uncertain results. The results reveal that people are using less of their own cars while using Uber, although the habit of riding a car is maintained. Regarding sustainable mobility, the potentials are not explored by the company, which exhibits characteristics that make greater results unfeasible. It is concluded that Uber is not sharing economy, but there is sharing economy between drivers and between its drivers and passengers. People relate at different levels, drivers become friends and act cooperatively. Drivers create a friendly and reliable environment with passengers for new business among themselves. It is hoped that this dissertation contributes to the development of the sharing economy in the literature in general, with a focus on the productive processes, the forms of work on demand and the interaction among these workers. It is also hoped that the results contribute to the discussions and the advancement of knowledge in the area of sustainable mobility and shared car in Brazil. The MAP-i Doctoral Program of the Universities of Minho, Aveiro and Porto, DNA microarrays are one of the most used technologies for gene expression measurement. However, there are several distinct microarray platforms, from different manufacturers, each with its own measurement protocol, resulting in data that can hardly be compared or directly integrated. Data integration from multiple sources aims to improve the assertiveness of statistical tests and predictive modeling, reducing the data dimensionality problem. This work intends to establish a basis for the integration of gene expression measurements from several manufacturers, a problem that can be addressed at different levels. The reannotation process, will be addressed, representing a cornerstone of multi-platform integration. The proposed approach is based on a reannotation from probesets to transcripts, preserving valuable information for further analysis. This work will provide both the methods for this integration process, as well as computational tools to achieve these goals. World Health Organization ranks astrocytomas, brain tumors, in four grades, being the fourth grade the most aggressive. Glioblastoma, the fourth grade tumor, is one of the most severe human diseases that almost inevitability leads to death. Physicians address the classification in grades through direct inspection. In this context, there is a need for good automatic predictors of tumor grade, which are not affected by human misclassification errors and that can be made with less invasive diagnostic tools. Gene expression data from glial tumors will be used as case studies, considering data from Agilent, Affymetrix and Illumina platforms. This data will be used to perform the stages involved in the process of selecting a good tumor grade predictor. In this work, the information integration from heterogeneous platforms is highlighted, evidencing the particularities of choosing approaches working at gene, transcript or probeset levels. Distinct machine learning algorithms and integration methods are tested, analyzing their ability to produce a good set of predictors for tumor grade., Os microarrays de ADN são uma das tecnologias mais utilizadas para a medição de expressão de genes. No entanto, existem várias plataformas distintas, de diferentes fabricantes, cada um com seu próprio protocolo de medição, resultando em dados que não podem ser diretamente comparados ou integrados. A integração de dados de múltiplas fontes visa melhorar a assertividade de testes estatísticos e modelação preditiva, reduzindo o problema da dimensionalidade dos dados. Este trabalho visa estabelecer uma base para a integração de medições de expressão de genes de vários fabricantes, um problema que tem diferentes níveis de abordagem. Será abordado o processo de re-anotação, uma pedra angular da integração multiplataforma. A abordagem proposta baseia-se na re-anotação de sondas para transcritos, preservando informação valiosa para análise posterior. A Organização Mundial da Saúde classifica os astrocitomas, tumores cerebrais, em quatro graus, sendo o grau quatro o mais agressivo. O glioblastoma, um astrocitoma de grau quatro, é uma das mais graves doenças humanas que quase inevitabilidade conduz à morte. Os médicos efetuam a classificação do tumor através de inspeção direta com métodos invasivos ou quando o paciente já está morto. Existe uma necessidade de bons indicadores de grau do tumor, que não sejam afetados por erro humano de classificação e que possam ser feitos com ferramentas de diagnóstico menos invasivas. Serão utilizados dados de expressão de genes de células da glia como caso de estudo, considerando-se dados de plataformas Agilent, Affymetrix e Illumina. Estes dados serão utilizados para executar as etapas envolvidas no processo de seleção de um bom modelo para previsão do grau do tumor. Neste trabalho, é destacada a integração de informações a partir de plataformas heterogéneas, evidenciando as particularidades de escolher abordagens a nível de genes, transcritos ou sondas. Serão testados diferentes algoritmos de aprendizagem de máquina e diferentes métodos de integração, analisando a sua capacidade de produzir um bom conjunto de modelos para prever o grau do tumor.

Many scientific-software projects test their codes inadequately, or not at all. Despite its well-known benefits, adopting routine testing is often not easy. Development teams may have doubts about establishing effective test procedures, writing test software, or handling the ever-growing complexity of test cases. They may need to run (and test) on restrictive HPC platforms. They almost certainly face time and budget pressures that can keep testing languishing near the bottom of their to-do lists. This paper presents DDTS, a framework for building test suite applications, designed to fit scientific-software projects' requirements. DDTS aims to simplify introduction of rigorous testing, and to ease growing pains as needs mature. It decomposes the testing problem into practical, intuitive phases; makes configuration and extension easy; is portable and suitable to HPC platforms; and exploits parallelism. A presente dissertação tem como objetivos investigar os discursos voltados aos corpos de mulheres e adolescentes veiculados nas campanhas pela “Real Beleza” e “AutoEstima”, assim como nos links “Só para Meninas” e “Mães e Mentoras”, do site Dove, bem como analisar como estes vem produzindo formas e maneiras, não só das mulheres mas também das adolescentes que o acessam, perceberem-se e comportarem-se como pertencentes ao Gênero Feminino, levando em consideração a preocupação e cuidado com seus próprios corpos e sua “forma”. Para realizar esse estudo, estabeleci conexões com os Estudos Culturais e de Gênero, em suas vertentes pós-estruturalistas, e com alguns conceitos do filósofo Michel Foucault. Por essa perspectiva, entendo o corpus de análise desse trabalho, o site Dove, como um artefato cultural que constrói saberes e significados, que produzem não só formas dessas mulheres e adolescentes definir e viver a feminilidade, mas também como o gênero feminino vem sendo construído e apresentado a elas nessas campanhas e links. Durante as análises, pude perceber a maneira com que esses discursos são apresentados ao público feminino, na tentativa de produzir nessas mulheres, preocupações com relação aos seus corpos, aspectos associados à “beleza”, vinculando tais discursos à questão da autoestima. Nesses discursos, evidenciou-se a maneira como a Dove coloca suas propostas, ou seja, mostrando elas como “soluções”, aos “problemas” que as mulheres possam ter com relação a seus corpos, quando estes não se encontram de acordo, não só com relação àquilo que elas desejam, mas também àquilo que é posto pelas mídias, como o “ideal”. Além disso, nas análises dos links “Só para Meninas” e “Mães e Mentoras”, disponíveis no site Dove, podemos evidenciar, através dos discursos construídos por uma “especialista”, a presença da voz autorizada a falar, agindo como “conselheiros” não só ao público feminino adolescente, mas também ao adulto, produzindo a elas maneiras de ser e estar no mundo como pertencentes ao gênero feminino, além de remeterem também, como nas campanhas, ao incremento da autoestima, associada sempre ao sucesso e ao prazer, em diferentes campos (sentimental, profissional, acadêmico...). Neste sentido, os discursos produzidos pelo site Dove constroem alguns saberes e instituem “verdades”, na busca de promover nas mulheres que o acessam uma espécie de identificação com tais propostas contidas neles. This work aims at investigating the discourse directed to the bodies of women and girls in the campaigns run by the “Real Beauty” and “Self-esteem”, as well as in the links “Just for Girls” and “Mothers and Mentors” from Dove’s website. The specific objective is to analyze how ways and manners have been produced for the women and girls who access it to see themselves and behave as belonging to the female gender, taking into account the concern and care for their own bodies and their “shape”. To perform this study, connections were established with Cultural and Gender Studies in its post-structuralist bias, and some concepts of the philosopher Michel Foucault. From that perspective, the analytical corpus of this work – the Dove’s website – is considered as a cultural artifact building knowledge and meanings that produce not only the ways women and girls define their femininity, but also the ways female gender has been constructed and presented to them in such campaigns and website links. The way those discourses are presented to women were noticed as producing onto the women concerns about their bodies, mainly associated with “beauty”, linking such speeches to the issue of self-esteem. In those speeches, there was the way Dove puts its proposals as “solutions” to “problems” that women may have with their bodies – when they are not in agreement not only with regard to what women want, but also to what is put by the media as the “ideal”. Furthermore, in the analysis of the above mentioned website links, we can see through the discourses constructed by an “expert” the presence of a speaking authoritative voice acting as an “advisor” to both the young and adult female audience, producing them ways of being in the world as belonging to the female gender, and also referring to the increase of self-esteem, as in the campaigns, always linked to success and pleasure in different fields (sentimental, professional, academic, etc.). Therefore, the discourses produced by Dove’s website is shown to build knowledge and establish “truths” in the quest to promote the women who access it some sort of identification with such proposals contained therein.
