Lately, there has been an exponential advance in the biomedical field. Nonetheless these discoveries do not really mean direct mean direct benefits for the patients, or take a long time to arrive to the population. The following study has analyzed the situation is the technology transfer in Spain, the problems involved, and the available tools to solve this problem. Spain is a very powerful source of scientific knowledge, with big advances in the biomedical field, but that advances do not arrive to the economy generation, nor to the general population. How should translational medicine be strengthened in Spain? How does knowledge generate wealth? There are numerous options to promote this technology transfer, that will be analyzed in order to detect the problem. This document determines how it can be changed for the benefit of the patient. Therefore the situation is exposed with a real case, a non-invasive epigenetic lung cancer diagnostic test project. The study proposes the weak points of translational research and technology transfer processes in Spain, and which are the reference points for the wealth generation, from the research they are carrying out. In addition, the tools to reinforce these weaknesses are listed. We will analyze how the research groups are defined, or how the companies must act in order to allow the arrival of the research benefit to the citizen., En los últimos años se ha producido un avance exponencial de descubrimientos científicos en el ámbito biomédico. En cambio estos descubrimientos no llegan realmente a convertirse en beneficios directos para el paciente, o tardan mucho en llegar. En el siguiente estudio se va a analizar, en qué situación se encuentra esta transferencia de tecnología en España, qué problemáticas presenta y qué herramientas existen para poder resolver este problema. España es una fuente de conocimiento científico muy potente, con avances grandes en el ámbito biomédico que no se ven reflejados realmente en la rueda de generación de riqueza económica, ni en la llegada de estos avances a la población general. ¿Cómo se debe reforzar la medicina traslacional en España? ¿Cómo se genera la riqueza a partir del conocimiento? Existen una serie de opciones para poder impulsar esta transferencia, desde su descubrimiento, protección de esta tecnología a través de una patente, hasta su llegada al mercado. Se llevará a cabo un análisis exhaustivo de estas opciones, para ver dónde se encuentra realmente el problema, cuál en qué punto flaquea el sistema, y cómo se podría reforzar en beneficio del paciente. Por ello se usará un ejemplo de un caso real, en el que se analiza un proyecto de un test de diagnóstico no invasivo de cáncer de pulmón mediante una firma epigenética. Incluirá tanto la financiación de las últimas fases de validación del producto, diseño de este mismo proyecto de validación, materialización del kit, certificación y comercialización del mismo. El trabajo pretende determinar cuáles son los puntos débiles de la investigación traslacional en España, y qué puntos se deberían reforzar para poder generar riqueza a partir de las investigaciones que se están llevando a cabo. Además de ello se enumerarán determinadas herramientas que permitirían reforzar estos puntos débiles. [EN] Osteoarticular pathologies very often require an implementation therapy to favor regeneration processes of bone, cartilage and/or tendons. Clinical approaches performed on osteoarticular complications in dogs constitute an ideal model for human clinical translational applications. The adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ASCs) have already been used to accelerate and facilitate the regenerative process. ASCs can be maintained in vitro and they can be differentiated to osteocytes or chondrocytes offering a good tool for cell replacement therapies in human and veterinary medicine. Although ACSs can be easily obtained from adipose tissue, the amplification process is usually performed by a time consuming process of successive passages. In this work, we use canine ASCs obtained by using a Bioreactor device under GMP cell culture conditions that produces a minimum of 30 million cells within 2 weeks. This method provides a rapid and aseptic method for production of sufficient stem cells with potential further use in clinical applications. We show that plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF) treatment positively contributes to viability and proliferation of canine ASCs into caprolactone 2-(methacryloyloxy) ethyl ester (CLMA) scaffolds. This biomaterial does not need additional modifications for cASCs attachment and proliferation. Here we propose a framework based on a combination of approaches that may contribute to increase the therapeutical capability of stem cells by the use of PRGF and compatible biomaterials for bone and connective tissue regeneration.
