Water-based incidents are natural phenomena that have posed Iran to serious crises. Despite efforts to settle water crises and improve the conditions, we still witness a growing trend of water issues, especially in the agricultural sector in Iran. A necessary step to face water-based incidents and alleviate their implications is to have a deep understanding of resilience dimensions to enhance the tolerance level of the farmers. The present study evaluated farmers' resilience level in the face of water-based crises in Harsin County. The research, which adopted a descriptive survey methodology, was conducted in 2020. The statistical population was composed of the heads of rural households in four rural districts of the county, amounting to about 6000 people. The sample size was determined to be 361 farmers based on Morgan's table. The measurement instrument was a questionnaire whose validity was confirmed by a panel of experts and professionals and its reliability was confirmed for all sections as their Cronbach's alpha was estimated at >0.8. SPSS was used for data analysis and Expert Choice was used for pairwise comparisons. Based on the results of the pairwise comparisons, infrastructural resilience to drought has the highest level of importance in the concept of resilience. According to the results of the study, the resilience level was evaluated to be relatively low in all studied rural districts, and the difference in the level of resilience among the studied villages is significant. Also, farmers with irrigated farming have a higher level of resilience than farmers with rainfed farming. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Knowledge-based companies have been considered as the engine of economic development of developing countries. But these companies have not grown significantly in western Iran. The present quantitative research was conducted with the aim of presenting a model of effective factors on the development of agricultural knowledge-based companies in western Iran in a descriptivecorrelative manner. The statistical population of the study consisted of experts from 45 agricultural knowledge-based companies in the west of the country, numbering 276 people,. The value of the multiple determination coefficient for the main structural equation 0.79, which indicates that the independent external variables of the research, including educational-research, economic, politicallegal, managerial, ideals and participatory factors, have been able to achieve about 0.79 of Predict changes in the development of agricultural knowledge-based companies. The political-legal factor had the first priority and the managerial, participatory, educational-research, economic and ideal factors had the second to sixth ranks, respectively. It is necessary for all organizations in charge of growth and development of agricultural knowledge-based companies to pay serious and fundamental attention to the identified indicators and components. Background and Objectives: Diabetes induced oxidative stress plays an important role in pathological damage to the heart and liver by increased production of extracellular matrix. It is thought that the use of medicinal plants, particularly Portulaca oleracea. L and regular exercise are effective. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of Portulaca oleracea. L consumption along with resistance training on cathepsin S, cystatin C and Creactive protein (CRP) levels on type 2 diabetes patients. Methods: In this semi-experimental study, 28 female type 2 diabetes patients with a mean age of 52 were randomly devided into 4 groups of control, exercise, supplement and supplement-exercise. Portulaca oleracea. L supplement was cosumed 7.5 g per day. Resistance training program was performed with a rubber band for 8 weeks, 3 days a week for 60 minutes with40-50% intensity, up to a maximum repetition. Blood samples were taken before and 48 hours after the last intervention. Results: After eight weeks, cathepsin S, cystatin C and CRP levels in the supplementation and supplementaion-exercise group were significantly reduced (P<0.05). There were also significant differences between the groups. Conclusion: Portulaca oleracea. L consumption and resistance training have each separate positive impacts on the cathepsin S, cystatin C and CRP levels, but the simultanous effect of Portulaca oleracea. Background: The pathophysiological role of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) in the development of goiter is controversial. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between thyroid nodularity and serum TSH levels in clinically and biochemically euthyroid patients with non-endemic multinodular goiter. Methods: We surveyed 44 of our endocrine clinic patients with multinodular goiter. Twenty-five patients with suppressed TSH levels or positive antithyroid antibodies were excluded. The remaining 19 patients were included (group 1). The 19 study subjects were compared with 19 age- and sex- matched controls without any thyroid disease or goiter (group 2). TSH levels in both groups were checked by review of their medical records. Results: In group 1,TSH ranged from 0.68-3.68 IU/mL (normal: 0.4-6.0 IU/mL), with a mean of 1.45±0.29. In group 2, TSH ranged from 0.38-1.88 IU/mL, with a mean of L08&plusm;0.1. The differences of these values, analyzed by paired t test (p=0.22), were not statistically significant. Conclusions: These data suggest that TSH levels in euthyroid patients with multinodular goiter are not significantly different from those in normal controls. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This case report describes a patient with pulmonary embolism (PE) in whom transesophageal echocardiography showed a thrombus in the right atrium attached to the eustachian valve (EV). The EV is typically absent in the adult, but when present it is considered to be benign. It is an uncommon site for thrombus formation. This patient was treated with systemic anticoagulation.
