Autism has become an increasingly relevant topic in the research of neuroscience with the objective of enabling people with this condition to become equal opportunity members of the society; this includes an exploration of the benefits of the public education system. However, the science and knowledge in this field have thus far been limited, and the results of scientific findings have been very rare. The objective of the study was to explore primarily the first experiences of higher education teachers dealing with a student with an autism spectrum disorder. The aim was to learn lessons and contribute to some new understanding of special and adapted pedagogical approaches. The methodology of the study is qualitative, using (i) a case study as an objective of the researchers, and (ii) in-depth interviews with the twelve teachers about their experience with (for them) the new demanding assignment to teach a student with an autism spectrum disorder. The case study is about three years of undergraduate studies of a student with autism spectrum disorder who, in the end, obtained a bachelor's degree in the field of business. The findings reveal that teachers generally viewed the experience as very positive and found teaching to be a challenge. For success, cooperation with experts and parents is crucial, but the education institution (of which all are stakeholders) could and should have done more. However, taking into account that the challenge is new, this study may contribute to some further development.

Entrepreneurship has been a gender-defined phenomenon for several decades. It has been presented as a typically male domain which for its demanding performance requires typical male characteristics. In this paper, we follow the suggestions of researchers of female entrepreneurs and focus on the research of three groups of female entrepreneurs. We propose that female entrepreneurs in different life stages have distinguished forms of human and social capital, and we apply the factors of those capitals to be measured. We observe the influence of parents, maternity as a metaphor for family involvement and family responsibilities, friends, and the broader environment on social capital. We discussed female entrepreneurship using two functions - as emotional support and incentives and as an instrumental social capital that provides access to information, resources and business partners. We added previous entrepreneurial experience, the level of education attained, business knowledge acquired at school and specific training, industry experience, previous managerial experience to the human capital function. With our model, we introduced the theory of life expectancy of women into entrepreneurship theory, which brings us closer to understanding the external influences on entrepreneurial aspirations and motivations of women of different ages. We have recently been witnessing a significant shift from fully classroom-based learning to blended learning. As a result, the purpose of this study is to validate the differences in digital skill levels among different groups of students (faculty and higher vocational) in Slovenia. The methods used included statistical analysis for mean differences (T-test, one-way ANOVA test), linear regression for hypothesis testing, and Chi-square for possible bias testing on a total of 223 data points. The results are based on a questionnaire that includes the following constructs: 1.) student engagement; 2.) efficient use of the e-learning platform; 3.) perception and attitude towards e-learning; 4.) digital readiness; 5.) skill development; and 6.) digital infrastructure. They indicate that digital skills differ depending on work experience, self-awareness, the study programme, and form, as well as the formal educational level attained after graduation. The study supports the idea that different groups of students differ in their digital skills and digital readiness, which proves to be relevant for their study engagement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper deals with competences, which are needed by entrepreneurs in order to successfully run a growing business. According to traditional paradigm, entrepreneurial competences can be whether inherited or learned or a combination of both. Although extensive research evidence has been available on different scopes of entrepreneurship in growing businesses, not much has been discovered about peculiarities in the entrepreneurial competences which has attracted a certain degree of both professional and research interest in the past decade or so. Furthermore, practically nothing was said and written on dilemma, whether entrepreneurial competences are inherited or can be learned. This qualitative research was conducted. Data collection was based on semi-structured personal interviews with the 23 entrepreneurs, preferably establishers/owners of businesses. Ten perceived competences were recognized from literature survey and entrepreneurs were asked to rank them from a given list. Results show that understanding customer needs is the most perceived skill, followed by persevering, creative thinking, storytelling and building trust. The findings will influence the future thinking on renewal of graduate and undergraduate curricula in the particular business school focused mainly on entrepreneurship. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Byline: Jaka Vadnjal, Marina Letonja Slovenia, as one of the most successful transition economies in Europe, has become attractive for immigration. As the most developed republic of the former Yugoslavia, Slovenia has traditionally been a destination for economic immigration coming from areas with lower economic standards. Albanians seems to play the most significant socioeconomic role among all minorities evidenced. Their ethnic minority has rather closed and parallel cultural and economic systems. This may be partly a consequence of the linguistic difference. They are seldom publicly recognised in ethnic associations and rarely included into ordinary business chains. Eleven Albanian businesses, ten of which are regarded as family businesses, from four different cities were examined in this paper. This was a case study qualitative research approach. The data collection was based on interviews with the family bosses and some family members. The knowledge of Albanian businesses in Slovenia has been limited to mere anecdotic observations and interpretations. The findings will improve understanding of the specific life and business models of this ethnic minority. The study is the first contribution to better understanding the ethnically based entrepreneurship in Slovenia and probably one of the first pieces of research of its kind in European transition economies.
