Industry 4.0 and Circular Economy are two new concepts that change the form of the current industry. Industry 4.0 is a concept that involves modern technologies, such as the Internet of Things, Advanced Digitalization and Robotics, Big Data processing, etc. It has a potential to make corporate processes significantly more effective across the entire supply chain. Circular Economy is a concept focussing on circulation of material and energy flows in the current market environment. This concept has a potential to decrease the negative impacts of companies and their products on the environment. This paper represents a primary probe into chemical companies in the Czech Republic, and it aims to identify the awareness, the stage of implementation, and potential blending of these concepts based on a questionnaire survey. A part of the respondents knows the concepts, and some of them even use some elements of Industry 4.0 within activities connected with Circular Economy. On the other hand, the research confirmed that some of the respondents are not aware of these concepts or of their contents, even though they are using some elements of Industry 4.0 or Circular Economy., Průmysl 4.0 a Cirkulární ekonomika jsou dva nové koncepty, které mění podobu současného průmyslu. Průmysl 4.0 je koncept, který zahrnuje moderní technologie, jako je internet věcí, pokročilá digitalizace a robotika, zpracování velkých dat atd. Má potenciál výrazně zefektivnit firemní procesy napříč celým dodavatelským řetězcem. Cirkulární ekonomika je koncept zaměřený na oběh materiálových a energetických toků v současném tržním prostředí. Tento koncept má potenciál snížit negativní dopady firem a jejich produktů na životní prostředí. Tento příspěvek představuje primární sondu do chemických podniků v České republice a jeho cílem je na základě dotazníkového šetření identifikovat povědomí, fázi implementace a potenciální prolínání těchto konceptů. Část respondentů pojmy zná a někteří dokonce některé prvky Průmyslu 4.0 využívají v rámci aktivit spojených s oběhovou ekonomikou. Na druhou stranu výzkum potvrdil, že část respondentů si tyto pojmy nebo jejich obsah neuvědomuje, přestože některé prvky Průmyslu 4.0 nebo Cirkulární ekonomiky využívají.

Industrial transformation and especially the digitization of business processes is a prerequisite for maintaining competitiveness, across industries. However, the use of digitization Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) differs in the mechanical, process, and hybrid industries. The chemical industry, as a typical representative of process production, differs significantly, especially in the possibilities of product monitoring or in the operation of production equipment. No significant impact of digitization on raw material purchasing, logistics, research, and development processes is expected. Perceived benefits, on the other hand, are expected in production, sales & marketing, and administration processes. To confirm these starting points and verify the state and perception of the importance of digitization in the Czech Republic among chemical production companies, research was carried out in selected chemical companies. Areas and processes in which digitization is already developing have been identified, as well as obstacles and barriers to a faster transformation of the chemical industry according to the Industry 4.0 concept., Průmyslová transformace a zejména digitalizace podnikových procesů je předpokladem pro udržení konkurenceschopnosti, a to napříč odvětvími. Použití klíčových technologií umožňujících digitalizaci (KET) se však v mechanickém, procesním a hybridním průmyslu liší. Chemický průmysl se jako typický představitel procesní výroby výrazně liší zejména v možnostech sledování výrobků nebo provozu výrobních zařízení. Neočekává se významný dopad digitalizace na nákup surovin, logistiku, výzkum a vývojové procesy. Vnímané přínosy se na druhé straně očekávají ve výrobě, prodeji a marketingu a administrativních procesech. Pro potvrzení těchto východisek a ověření stavu a vnímání významu digitalizace v ČR mezi podniky chemické výroby byl proveden výzkum ve vybraných chemických podnicích. Byly identifikovány oblasti a procesy, ve kterých se již digitalizace rozvíjí, jakož i překážky a bariéry rychlejší transformace chemického průmyslu podle konceptu Průmysl 4.0.

Noticeable extension and significant enforcement of the concept of corporate responsibility and sustainability requires the development of corporate activities not only in traditional environmental and social employee-oriented issues, but also the promotion and implementation of ethical, philanthropic, and other socially responsible activities1. The degree of implementation of these CSR activities must be adequately communicated by companies to strengthen and emphasize the positive CSR impacts on important stakeholders, but also society as a whole2. Presentation of economic and environmental information through regular reports and static company websites can be considered as a common business practice3, however, the implementation and communication of social, philanthropic, and ethical activities of companies are not, especially concerning formulated sustainability goals (SDGs) and the European Green Deal plan, so far satisfactory The level and form of communication of socially responsible activities by Czech chemical production companies were determined. A total of 11 companies out of 85 even use 4 or more online communication platforms at the same time. Conversely, a total of 44 companies out of 85 (52%) do not use any other online communication platform (apart from corporate websites)., Znatelné rozšíření a výrazné prosazení konceptu společenské odpovědnosti a udržitelnosti vyžaduje rozvoj firemních aktivit nejen v tradičních environmentálních a sociálně zaměstnanecky orientovaných otázkách, ale také propagaci a realizaci etických, filantropických a dalších společensky odpovědných aktivit1. Stupeň implementace těchto CSR aktivit musí být společnostmi adekvátně komunikován, aby byly posíleny a zdůrazněny pozitivní dopady CSR na důležité stakeholdery, ale také na společnost jako celek. Prezentaci ekonomických a environmentálních informací prostřednictvím pravidelných reportů a statických firemních webových stránek lze považovat za běžnou obchodní praxi, implementace a komunikace sociálních, filantropických a etických aktivit firem však není zatím uspokojivá, zejména pokud jde o formulované cíle udržitelnosti (SDGs) a evropský plán Green Deal. Výstupem příspěvku bylo představit úroveň a formu komunikace společensky odpovědných aktivit ze strany českých chemických výrobních podniků. Celkem 11 společností z 85 dokonce využívá 4 a více online komunikačních platforem současně. Naopak celkem 44 firem z 85 (52 %) žádnou jinou online komunikační platformu (kromě firemních webů) nevyužívá.

The declining resources of raw materials and the associated increase in their prices, together with the global competitive environment in which digitization and automation of production play a crucial role, force the companies to think about in context of the sustainability of their own businesses. Extensive qualitative research among companies within the chemical industry in the Czech Republic was carried out to identify perceived importance of business sustainability and a generally proactive approach to respect the principles of sustainable development. Based on almost complete survey of large and medium-sized chemical enterprises in the number of 144 surveyed items, the level of information was determined as the data available from enterprises to stakeholders through Internet platforms. It has been found that the Czech companies lag significantly behind in terms of proactive promotion of sustainability, and to a large extent do not address the issues of social or environmental responsibility. Such findings indicate a lack of understanding of the importance of the company's continuous operation in the long term, which may represent a significant problem in future for the competitiveness of the entire chemical industry in the Czech Republic., Ubývající zásoby surovin a s tím spojený růst jejich cen spolu s globálním konkurenčním prostředím, ve kterém digitalizace a automatizace výroby hraje zásadní roli, nutí firmy přemýšlet v kontextu udržitelnosti vlastního podnikání. Byl proveden rozsáhlý kvalitativní výzkum mezi podniky chemického průmyslu v České republice s cílem identifikovat vnímanou důležitost udržitelnosti podnikání a obecně proaktivního přístupu k respektování principů udržitelného rozvoje. Na základě téměř kompletního šetření u velkých a středních chemických podniků v počtu 144 sledovaných subjektů byly zjišťovány dostupné informace o udržitelných aktivitách podniků směrem ke stakeholderům prostřednictvím internetových platforem. Zjistilo se, že české firmy výrazně zaostávají v proaktivní podpoře udržitelnosti a do značné míry neřeší otázky společenské či environmentální odpovědnosti. Tato zjištění svědčí o nepochopení potřeby dlouhodobého nepřetržitého trvání podniku, což může do budoucna představovat významný problém pro konkurenceschopnost celého chemického průmyslu v ČR.

V této práci byla provedena rešerše odborné literatury zaměřená na identifikaci aspektů hodnocení udržitelnosti výrobního procesu průmyslových podniků. Je zde vymezen historický kontext této problematiky a obecné definice souvisejících pojmů. Práce dále popisuje základní principy, cíle a požadavky udržitelné výroby. Následně jsou identifikovány aspekty udržitelné výroby, a to v rámci jednotlivých fází životního cyklu, kterými produkt prochází, včetně popisu možností ukončení životního cyklu produktu. Praktická část této práce je pak zaměřena na identifikaci a analýzu aspektů pro hodnocení udržitelnosti výrobního procesu ve vybraném chemickém výrobním podniku., In this thesis, a professional research of literature was performed aimed at identifying aspects of the sustainability assessment of the production process of industrial enterprises. The historical context of this issue and general definitions of related terms are defined here. The thesis also describes basic principles, goals and requirements of sustainable production. Subsequently, aspects of sustainable production are identified, within the individual phases of the life cycle that the product goes through, including a description of the options for ending the product's life cycle. Změny ve všech oblastech života a turbulentní vývoj v podnikatelském prostředí vyvolávají nutnost trvalých transformací studijních programů vyučovaných v univerzitním prostředí. K inovacím dochází také u studijních programů Ekonomika a management chemického průmyslu vyučovaných na Fakultě chemicko-technologické, Univerzity Pardubice. Článek uvádí zdroje invencí pro dané inovace. Těmi jsou aktivní kontakty s podnikovou praxí, výzkumná činnost garantů programů i předmětů a spolupráce s vysokými školami doma i v zahraničí. Následně článek představuje inovace obsahové a inovace formy výuky. Obsahové inovace programu udržují interdisciplinaritu při vzdělávání při současném zvyšování kompetencí studentů k budování udržitelnosti na podnikové úrovni. Inovace formy vzdělávání podporují cíle obsahových inovací, a navíc zvyšují zejména informační a jazykové dovednosti studentů., Changes in all areas of life and turbulent business environment necessitate continuous transformations of study programs taught at universities. Innovations are also taking place in the study programs “Economics and Management of the Chemical Industry” taught at the Faculty of Chemical Technology, University of Pardubice. The article lists the sources of inventions for the given innovations. These are active contacts with corporate practice, research activities of program and subject guarantors, and cooperation with universities at home and abroad. Subsequently, it deals with innovations in content and innovations in the form of teaching. The program's content innovations maintain interdisciplinarity in education while increasing students' competencies to build sustainability at the corporate level. Innovations in the form of education support the goals of content innovations and, in addition, increase especially the information and language skills of students.

The purpose of this study is to research terminology of Industry 4.0 in some of the biggest companies in Czech Republic. The main objective was to find out whether they know about the concept of Industry 4.0 and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Further goals were to find out which terminology they use in companies, and if they have practical experience with the technologies. Qualitative research was conducted via an online questionnaire. Results have shown some terms used by scientific literature are unknown in practice and that the view of companies on this topic might be different from the view of researchers based on their responses. This calls for more in-depth research for which we present recommendations., Cílem této studie je prozkoumat terminologii Průmyslu 4.0 v některých z největších společností v České republice. Hlavním cílem bylo zjistit, zda znají koncepty Průmysl 4.0 a Čtvrtoá průmyslová revoluce. Dalším cílem bylo zjistit, jakou terminologii ve firmách používají a zda mají s technologiemi praktické zkušenosti. Kvalitativní výzkum byl proveden prostřednictvím online dotazníku. Výsledky ukázaly, že některé termíny používané ve vědecké literatuře jsou v praxi neznámé a že pohled firem na toto téma se může lišit od pohledu výzkumníků na základě jejich odpovědí. To vyžaduje hlubší výzkum, pro který uvádíme doporučení.

While alternative food networks (AFNs) have become the leading conceptualisation of sustainable food systems, vibrant scholarship on food self-provisioning (FSP) in Central and Eastern Europe has remained confined to the geopolitical region it investigates. This article brings these two bodies of thought closer together in two steps. First, we trace four framings of FSP deployed over the last three decades—coping strategy, cultural practice, hobby and source of good food and reading FSP as transformative practice—to demonstrate its progressive affinity with AFNs. Second, we follow the most recent framing in highlighting the material reality of local food production as a feature shared by both FSP and AFNs. From this perspective, FSP can be understood as a more radical variant of AFNs given its more substantial environmental and social impact (FSP is more widespread and socially inclusive and less dependent on market transactions). By uncovering the epistemological underpinnings of these different framings of FSP and exploring their implications for food practices on the ground, this article draws general lessons for scholarship aiming to advance food system transformation.

The rapid development of the sharing economy that has been registered in recent years is caused by a number of factors. The increasingly pronounced effort on the part of all economic entities to contribute towards sustainable development through the application of socially responsible behavior is deemed to be a key factor. The objective of the article is to analyze and evaluate the attitudes of customers towards the benefits of the sharing economy in the field of economic, social, and environmental responsibility using the example of a small post-communist economy-the Czech Republic. Primary data were obtained on the basis of a questionnaire survey. This was elaborated using descriptive and inferential statistics tools. The study that was performed shows that the majority of customers regard sharing as a source of benefits in the field of economic, social, and environmental responsibility, whereas in a complex sense, they perceive these benefits to be equal. Women perceive the investigated benefits of sharing with regard to environmental responsibility as more important compared to men. In comparison with the older generation, the younger generation perceives selected benefits of sharing as more important in all three investigated areas of responsibility. People with a higher education perceive selected benefits of sharing with regard to economic responsibility as more important compared to people with a lower level of education. The article provides original insights into the perception of the benefits of sharing for sustainable development by actors in the sharing economy and is a source of knowledge about their motivations for both policymakers and managers of companies involved in the sharing economy., Rychlý rozvoj sdílené ekonomiky zaznamenávaný v posledních letech je způsoben řadou faktorů. Za klíčový je považována stále se výrazněji projevující snaha všech ekonomických subjektů přispět k udržitelnému rozvoji, a to díky uplatňování společensky odpovědného chování. Cílem článku je analyzovat a zhodnotit postoje zákazníků k přínosům sdílené ekonomiky v oblasti ekonomické, sociální a environmentální odpovědnosti, a to na příkladu malé postkomunistické ekonomiky – České republiky. Primární data byla získána na základě dotazníkového šetření. Zpracována byla s využitím nástrojů popisné a inferenční statistiky. Z provedené studie vyplývá, že většina zákazníků považuje sdílení za zdroj přínosů v oblasti ekonomické, sociální i environmentální odpovědnosti, přičemž v komplexním pojetí tyto přínosy vnímá jako rovnocenné. Ženy vnímají sledované přínosy sdílení k environmentální odpovědnosti jako významnější oproti mužům. Mladší generace v porovnání se starší generací vnímá jako významnější vybrané přínosy sdílení ve všech třech sledovaných oblastech odpovědnosti. Vysokoškoláci vnímají jako významnější vybrané přínosy sdílení k ekonomické odpovědnosti oproti lidem s nižším vzděláním. Článek přináší originální poznatky o vnímání přínosů sdílení k udržitelnému rozvoji aktéry sdílené ekonomiky a je zdrojem poznání o jejich motivaci jak pro tvůrce politik, tak manažery firem zapojených do sdílené ekonomiky.

There are a lot of factors affecting employee motivation in the company. Some of them are supported by law, while others result from voluntary activities of the company, and the way to some of them still have not been found. Our research dealt with one of the possibilities, the S-LCA indicators as employee motivation factors. The attention is usually paid to companies and their system of employee stimulation. This research is supported by in-depth literature review in the field of S-LCA. Our research addressed employees of one medium-sized company to find out what they think of the activities of their management in the area of stimulation of their employees. Using a factor analysis, we found seven basic motivation factors, i.e. Safety at Work, Fair Remuneration, Social Security and Benefits, Work Climate, Basic Rights and Freedoms, Corporate Image, and Equal Opportunity. In the context of social impacts of manufacturing on employees, individual employee groups are motivated to work in different ways., Faktorů, které ovlivňují motivaci zaměstnanců ve firmě, je celá řada. Některé z nich mají oporu v zákonech, jiné vyplývají z dobrovolné činnosti podniků a k ​​některým se stále nevěnuje patřičná pozornost. Výzkum se zabýval jednou z možností, ukazateli S-LCA jako potenciálními faktory pro motivaci zaměstnanců. Obvykle je pozornost je věnována firmám a jejich systému stimulace zaměstnanců. Tento výzkum je podpořen hloubkovým přehledem literatury v oblasti S-LCA. Náš výzkum oslovil zaměstnance jedné středně velké firmy, abychom zjistili, co si myslí o aktivitách jejich vedení v oblasti stimulace svých zaměstnanců. Pomocí faktorové analýzy jsme našli sedm základních motivačních faktorů, konkrétně bezpečnost při práci, spravedlivé odměňování, sociální zabezpečení a benefity, pracovní klima, základní práva a svobody, image společnosti a rovné příležitosti. V kontextu sociálních dopadů výroby na zaměstnance jsou však jednotlivé skupiny zaměstnanců motivovány k práci různými způsoby.
