- Abstract
The Sense of Agency (SoA) refers to the sense of controlling our actions and, by that, events in the outside world. A common SoA measure is sensory attenuation, the phenomenon that self-produced action effects are perceived as less intense than physically identical but externally produced effects. However, some recent studies cast doubt on the validity of sensory attenuation as a cue to the SoA and raise the possibility that sensory attenuation is a product of enhanced stimulus predictability rather than a correlate of the SoA per se. The present study aimed to further investigate the validity of sensory attenuation as a measure of the SoA within a multi-step action paradigm. Participants (N = 40) produced tones with a button press during one block and with a sequence of three button presses in another. The timings in these blocks were recorded and subsequently replayed, and button presses were replaced by numbers on the screen, which in the 3-step condition rendered the tones highly predictable despite the absence of an action. By means of a psychophysical task, sensory attenuation of the tones was measured through the point of subjective equality (PSE). The results revealed stronger sensory attenuation for self-generated than externally generated tones, irrespective of the number of steps. Judgments of agency, measured only in the active conditions, were higher for tones produced with the 1-step than the 3-step action. The results underline the importance of motor action for sensory attenuation and point to reduced agency perception in multi-step actions.

- Abstract
This large, international dataset contains survey responses from N = 12,570 students from 100 universities in 35 countries, collected in 21 languages. We measured anxieties (statistics, mathematics, test, trait, social interaction, performance, creativity, intolerance of uncertainty, and fear of negative evaluation), self-efficacy, persistence, and the cognitive reflection test, and collected demographics, previous mathematics grades, self-reported and official statistics grades, and statistics module details. Data reuse potential is broad, including testing links between anxieties and statistics/mathematics education factors, and examining instruments’ psychometric properties across different languages and contexts.

- Abstract
The use of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in the field of forensic genetics is widely spread mainly due to its advantages when identifying highly degraded samples. In this sense, massive parallel sequencing has made the analysis of the whole mitogenome more accessible, noticeably increasing the informativeness of mtDNA haplotypes. The civil war (1980–1992) in El Salvador caused many deaths and disappearances (including children) all across the country and the economic and social instability after the war forced many people to emigration. For this reason, different organizations have collected DNA samples from relatives with the aim of identifying missing people. Thus, we present a dataset containing 334 complete mitogenomes from the Salvadoran general population. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first publication of a nationwide forensic-quality complete mitogenome database of any Latin American country. We found 293 different haplotypes, with a random match probability of 0.0041 and 26.6 mean pairwise differences, which is similar to other Latin American populations, and which represent a marked improvement from the values obtained with just control region sequences. These haplotypes belong to 54 different haplogroups, being 91% of them of Native American origin. Over a third (35.9%) of the individuals carried at least a heteroplasmic site (excluding length heteroplasmies). Ultimately, the present database aims to represent mtDNA haplotype diversity in the general Salvadoran populations as a basis for the identification of people that disappeared during or after the civil war.

The sense of agency (SoA) refers to the sense of controlling our actions and by that, events in the outside world. One popular measure used in SoA studies is sensory attenuation, the phenomenon that self-produced action effects are perceived as less intense than physically identical, but externally-produced effects. However, some recent studies cast doubt on the validity of sensory attenuation as a cue to the SoA and raise the possibility that sensory attenuation is a product of enhanced stimulus predictability, rather than a correlate of the SoA per se. Therefore, the present study aims to further investigate the validity of sensory attenuation as a measure for the SoA. The present study will use the multi-step actions paradigm previously established by Garrido-Vásquez and Rock (2020) to address this issue. The paradigm allows to investigate how the number of action steps influences the SoA for an action outcome: Participants press one or more keys consecutively to generate a tone. Multi-step actions are particularly well-suited to study the validity of sensory attenuation as a measure for the SoA because the processing of tones that were self-generated through multi-step actions can be compared to physically identical but externally produced tones preceded by multi-step countdowns, which make these tones highly predictable. In the present experiment, we will compare sensory attenuation for self-generated and externally produced tones. In the self-generation conditions, the tones will either result from a one-step or a three-step keypress action. In the external production conditions, identical tones will be presented, preceded by a one-step cue or a three-step countdown. Thus, even though in the external three-step condition, no self-action is required to produce a tone, the ensuing auditory stimuli are highly predictable due to the preceding countdown. Sensory attenuation will be measured within a psychophysical paradigm using the method of constant stimuli. During self-generation, sensory attenuation of the tones should be stronger in the three-step action condition than in the one-step condition, which would replicate the results from Garrido-Vásquez and Rock (2020). When the tones are externally produced, they should also be more attenuated when preceded by a three-step countdown rather than by a one-step cue, due to improved predictability. The crucial comparison in the proposed experiment is the strength of sensory attenuation for tones in the three-step action condition (i.e., self-generated action effects) compared to the three-step countdown (i.e., externally produced action effects). If in the self-generation condition, sensory attenuation is not significantly stronger than in the external three-step condition, this would further question the validity of sensory attenuation as a cue to the SoA. If sensory attenuation is significantly stronger in the three-step self-production condition compared to the external three-step setting, this would support the alternative view that sensory attenuation captures more than mere stimulus predictability, and strengthen the role of sensory attenuation as a valid cue to the SoA.

Sense of agency, implicit, explicit, sensory attenuation, multi-step actions - Abstract
In our daily lives, we frequently execute actions that require several steps to bring about the outcome. However, investigations on how the sense of agency—the sense of controlling our actions and their outcomes—evolves in multi-step actions are still lacking. The purpose of the present research is to fill this gap. In the present study, the participants executed one-step, two-step, and three-step actions in which one, two, or three keys had to be pressed consecutively to generate a tone. We used sensory attenuation as an implicit measure of the sense of agency. Sensory attenuation means that self-produced sensory effects are perceived as less intense than externally generated effects. In the present experiment, sensory attenuation was measured in a psychophysical paradigm and increased in multi-step actions compared to the one-step action. We also asked the participants to explicitly rate the amount to which they felt that they had generated the tone. Ratings were highest in the one-step condition and dropped for multi-step actions, thus showing the opposite pattern of the sensory attenuation data. We assume that enhanced sensory attenuation in multi-step actions could be due to increased effort or more accurate sensorimotor predictions of action effects. The decrease in explicit ratings for multi-step actions might be attributed to reduced perception of causality.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Central venous catheter-associated infections are the main cause of morbidity and mortality in hemodialysis patients. The nursing staff is the one who mainly performs the manipulation of the vascular access at the time of insertion, maintenance or removal of the catheter. The role of the nursing staff is fundamental in the prevention of local and systemic infections. Objective: To determine the main interventions implemented by nursing staff to reduce the number of catheter-associated infections in hemodialysis. Methodology: A literature review was conducted from August 2021 to January 2022. A search was conducted in databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Access Medicine, Wed of Science, Medigraphic, EBSCO, Science Direct, and Google Scholar. The search terms were: (infections) AND (hemodialysis) AND (nursing). Results: Ninety-four studies were selected from which the main measures for infection prevention during hemodialysis catheter installation, maintenance, and removal were identified. In addition, we identified the limitations of the evidence for some procedures and the points requiring further research. Conclusions: The main strategies used to reduce catheter-related bacteremia in hemodialysis are 1) strict use of hygienic measures by healthcare personnel, 2) use of antibiotic prophylaxis at the exit site 3) impregnation of the catheter lumen with antimicrobial blocking solution, 4) continuous training, and 5) implementation of a protocol., {"references": ["Flores JC, Alvo M, Borja H, Morales J, Vega J, Z\u00fa\u00f1iga C, et al. - Abstract
We have genotyped the 58 STRs (27 autosomal, 24 Y-STRs and 7 X-STRs) and 94 autosomal SNPs in Illumina ForenSeq™ Primer Mix A in a sample of 248 men and 143 women from El Salvador, Central America. Regional division (Centro, Oriente, Occidente) showed in almost all cases F values not significantly different from 0, and further analyses were applied only to the undivided, country-wide population. The overall random match probability (RMP) decreased from 6.79 × 10 in length-based genotypes in the 27 autosomal STRs to 1.47 × 10 in repeat-sequence based genotypes. Combining the autosomal loci in this set, RMP reaches 2.97 × 10. In a population genetic analysis, El Salvador showed the lowest F values with US Hispanics both for autosomal and X-STRs; however, it was much closer to Native Americans for the latter than for the former, in accordance with the well-known gender-biased admixture that created most Latin American populations.

(objetivos) Feed up; ¿Cómo lo estoy haciendo? Sense of agency (SoA) is the control that people feel about their actions and their respective effects. Literature has found that the fluency of action selection manipulated through subliminal priming influences the SoA. Also, the number of action steps affects the explicit sense of agency and sensory attenuation. To our knowledge, no study to date has tested the effects of both variables on the SoA within the same experiment. We aim to examine how the number of action steps and the fluency of action selection influence the SoA in an adaptation of the Tetris gamewith 42 participants, in which actions will be subliminally primed with arrows and participants may choose between different numbers of action steps. The dependent variables are explicit SoA and sensory attenuation.

- Abstract
Semantic priming has been studied for nearly 50 years across various experimental manipulations and theoretical frameworks. These studies provide insight into the cognitive underpinnings of semantic representations in both healthy and clinical populations; however, they have suffered from several issues including generally low sample sizes and a lack of diversity in linguistic implementations. Here, we will test the size and the variability of the semantic priming effect across ten languages by creating a large database of semantic priming values, based on an adaptive sampling procedure. Differences in response latencies between related word-pair conditions and unrelated word-pair conditions (i.e., difference score confidence interval is greater than zero) will allow quantifying evidence for semantic priming, whereas improvements in model fit with the addition of a random intercept for language will provide support for variability in semantic priming across languages.

The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between administrative management and quality of hospital service at the Hospital César Garayar García de Iquitos, Loreto 2020; This being a descriptive and correlated research, of non-experimental design, for which a sample of 199 patients has been taken, who were surveyed through a questionnaire as a data collection instrument, given this, the results were analyzed giving As conclusions that, administrative management is deficient, this is mainly due to the lack of planning of hospital activities, the same that is demonstrated in the lack of coordination of the functions of health personnel, being the patient who has to bear the bad attention. Likewise, the level of quality of the hospital service is low, since basically the patients do not perceive relevant care in the hospital services, that is, the staff shows difficulties in responding to the concerns and needs of the patient. Finally, it is determined that administrative management is directly related to the quality of the hospital service, an instance that is corroborated by the correlation coefficient (Spearman's Rho) of 0.880 and a significance of 0.000.

Detection of virus in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in HIV-infected patients with HIV viral load (VL) undetectable in plasma has been termed viral escape. These leaks may be asymptomatic from a neurological point of view, similar to plasma blips, or associated with neurological disease, with discordant VL between plasma and CSF, and may be evidence of a compartmentalization of the virus and the possibility of identifying quasispecies with mutations that confer resistance to ART. We present the case of a man with AIDS and disseminated tuberculosis who presented neurological symptomatology evidenced by headache and convulsive syndrome, who presented a discordance between plasma and CSF HIV VL; the genotypic test of the virus, obtained by lumbar puncture, identified new mutations that determined a change in ART with subsequent satisfactory evolution.

Abstract Background Inadequate eating behavior and physical inactivity contribute to the current epidemic of childhood obesity. The aim of this study was to assess the association between eating behavior scores and childhood obesity in Chilean children. Design and methods We recruited 126 obese, 44 overweight and 124 normal-weight Chilean children (6-12 years-old; both genders) according to the International Obesity Task Force (IOTF) criteria. Eating behavior scores were calculated using the Child Eating Behavior Questionnaire (CEBQ). Factorial analysis in the culturally-adapted questionnaire for Chilean population was used to confirm the original eight-factor structure of CEBQ. The Cronbach's alpha statistic (>0.7 in most subscales) was used to assess internal consistency. Non-parametric methods were used to assess case-control associations. Results Eating behavior scores were strongly associated with childhood obesity in Chilean children. Childhood obesity was directly associated with high scores in the subscales "enjoyment of food" (P < 0.0001), "emotional overeating" (P < 0.001) and "food responsiveness" (P < 0.0001). Food-avoidant subscales "satiety responsiveness" and "slowness in eating" were inversely associated with childhood obesity (P < 0.001). There was a graded relation between the magnitude of these eating behavior scores across groups of normal-weight, overweight and obesity groups. Conclusion Our study shows a strong and graded association between specific eating behavior scores and childhood obesity in Chile.

Abstract Background A better understanding of the link between eating behavior and maternal feeding practices with childhood and maternal weight status is of great interest. Objective To assess the association between childhood anthropometric measures with mothers' Body Mass Index (BMI) and their feeding practices toward preschool children in Chile. Methods 1029 children (504 boys, 4.3 ± 0.3 years) and their mothers were selected from public nurseries located in low income neighborhoods in Santiago. Mothers' BMI, children's BMI and waist-to-height ratios were registered. Maternal feeding practices towards their children's nutritional habits were measured using an adapted version of the Child Feeding Questionnaire (CFQ). Results We found a direct correlation (p < 0.001) between children's BMI z-score and their mothers' BMI, both in boys (Spearman rho = 0.26) and girls (rho = 0.30). A direct association was also found between children's BMI z-score with scores of the subscale "concern for child's weight" (Spearman rho = 0.26 in boys and rho = 0.37 in girls; p < 0.001) and "food restriction" (rho = 0.19 in boys and rho = 0.27 in girls; p < 0.001). A reverse significant association was found between children's BMI z-score with scores of "pressure to eat" (rho = -0.30 in boys and rho = -0.36 in girls; p < 0.001). Analyses of the combined categories of childhood obesity and/or maternal obesity showed an important influence of children's weight status on CFQ scores. Conclusion Mothers' BMI and children's BMI z-scores are highly correlated. We found significant associations between mothers' behaviour subscales and children's BMI z-score. It is not possible to establish a causal link between mother's CFQ scores and children's nutritional status, given the cross-sectional nature of this study and the bidirectional influences that exist between mothers and their children.
