The document is structured as follows: § 4 is dedicated to the definition of the validation plan (environment, assumptions, organization, requirements and software components to be tested, general pass/fail criteria, procedure to adopt for the problem reporting activity); § 5 contains the design of the tests; § 6 specifies the test cases; § 7 defines the validation procedures to use for the validation methods other than test; § 8 contains the traceability matrices between requirements and test cases and vice versa.

Version 0.9 reviewed by ESA at the Euclid SGS System Requirements Review (2015) Version 1.0 submitted as reference document for the Euclid SGS Design Review (2017) Version 1.1 submitted as reference document for the Euclid SGS Implementation Review (2021) Version 1.2 submitted as reference document for the Euclid SGS Readiness Review (2022) The purpose of this document is to list the requirements applicable to the NIR processing function, both from scientific and technical points of view. The validation strategy to demonstrate that the NIR PF is able to satisfy the requirements has been described in the NIR Validation Plan & Software Tests Specifications, while the development of the NIR PF has been described in the Development Plan of the SDC-IT, the primary SDC for the NIR PF. The NIR Requirements Specification Document has been initialized for the System Requirements Review (SRR) and it has been put under configuration control at the end of that phase. It is worth noting however that the process aimed at capturing/refining all the requirements will continue beyond the conclusion of the SRR.

INAF Trieste Astronomical Observatory (OATs) has a long tradition in information technology applied to Astronomical and Astrophysical use cases, particularly for what regards computing for data reduction, analysis and simulations; data and archives management; space missions data processing; design and software development for ground-based instruments. The ensemble of these activities, in the last years, pushed the need to acquire new computing resources and technologies and to deep competences in theirs management. In this paper we describe INAF-OATs computing centre technological stuff, our involvement in different EU Projects both in the path of building of EOSC, the European Open Science Cloud; in the design and prototyping of new Exascale supercomputers in Europe and the main research activities carried on using our computing centre.

Workflow and science gateway technologies have been adopted by scientific communities as a valuable tool to carry out complex experiments. They cover the possibility to perform computations for data analysis and simulations, whereas hiding details of the complex infrastructures underneath. In this paper we describe our experiences in creating workflows oriented science gateways based on gUSE/WS-PGRADE technology that allow to build user–friendly science gateways for Astronomers.

Version 1.0 submitted to the ESA Euclid SGS Technical Keypoint #1 review This Software Test Plan describes the system being tested, summarizing the system context and decomposition. It sets out the test and verification approach for the system and describes constraints and limitations in the testing to be performed. The STP describes the unit and integration tests for the component modules of the system and describes the validation tests to be performed on the fully integrated system. A scientific challenge should ensure that the main issues of scientific requirements are properly anticipated and addressed through the different challenges. The main objective of Scientific Challenge #2 (SC2) is to perform the following activities: design and develop the first prototypes of the VIS, NIR and SIR Processing Functions (PFs); integrate them with the SGS Infrastructure components (Common Data Model tools, IAL, COORS) previously tested through the Infrastructure Challenge #6; deploy each PF through the CODEEN system; process the VIS and NISP raw frames simulated by the SIM PF and archived in the EAS. The products that are expected to be generated by the execution of the SC2 test cases are: VIS/NIR/SIR output data products which are consistent with the Data Model (detection of transients not needed, level Q not needed), i.e calibrated exposures, stacks, masks, catalogues (both computed and simulated), 2D spectra, 1D spectra. The catalogue sources format shall be homogeneous and consistent with the Euclid catalogue format. The SC2 Challenge is a Test Campaign run at SGS System Level; the SC2 is conducted according to the execution tests, test cases and test procedures defined in §11 of this document.

Version 0.3 provided as input to the ESA Euclid SGS Technical Keypoint #1 review This report relates the Scientific Challenge 2 (SC2) Test Campaign. This report is produced at the end of the SC2 implementation; its purpose is to provide detailed information about the results got by the execution of Tests and Test Cases defined in the Test Plan. The SC2 Manager analyses the results of Test Cases identifying any criticality raised during their execution and produces a summary containing a statement about the global success or failure of the SC2 together with a disposition, recommended improvements and the lessons learnt from the execution of the SC2 Test Campaign.

Version 0.9 reviewed by ESA at the Euclid SGS Preliminary Requirements Review (2013) Version 1.9 reviewed by ESA at the Euclid SGS System Requirements Review (2015) The ECSGS Management Plan is focused on the following topics: ECSGS organisation, responsibilities, reporting; ECSGS costing, manpower, effort tracking; ECSGS logistic (when relevant); organisation of individual OUs and SDCs under ECSGS coordination. Sections 9 and 10 contain global and local organisation details, and the names of responsible staff. The management principles expressed in this document are a coherent extension of those described in the ECSGS Science Implementation Plan. The document is compliant with the ECSS standards, as tailored for the Euclid SGS.

The present document contains the description of the system-level work-packages for the Science Ground Segment of the Euclid Mission, a Medium Class mission of the ESA Cosmic Vision 2015-2025 programme, related to the SGS level activities performed inside the Euclid Consortium, plus four Work Packages (WP) under SOC responsibility, that are logically structured inside the ECSGS System Engineering activity. This document is considered to be an annex of the Euclid SGS Development Plan. The WP Description sheets are compliant with the ECSS standards.

Progetto TECNO- INAF 2010 – CIWS Il fiorire di progetti astronomici ed il contemporaneo sviluppo di strumentazione sempre piu' progredita ha, negli ultimi decenni, imposto lo sviluppo di tecniche di archiviazione e utilizzazione dei dati acquisiti sempre più complesse. Tale necessità ha avuto il costo di dirottare importanti risorse di intelligenza e tempo verso lo sviluppo di tecnologie atte a soddisfare queste esigenze. La lunga tempistica (tipicamente decennale) e il dislocamento spaziale dei centri di sviluppo dei programmi e della strumentazione astronomica, ha, fino ad oggi, reso complicato razionalizzare la fase del processo relativo alla creazione e fornitura di workstation scientifiche relative agli strumenti, nonostante le molteplici analogia fra tutti (o quasi) gli strumenti per l'astronomia. Partendo dalle premesse sopra presentate è nato il progetto CIWS (Customizable Instrument Workstation Software) che può permettere una notevole semplificazione per lo sviluppo di workstation scientifiche per i progetti futuri. Il CIWS, infatti, ha riguardato la progettazione e lo sviluppo di software per l’archiviazione e la visualizzazione on-line e off-line di dati acquisiti da strumentazione scientifica posta sia in telescopi di terra che a bordo e di telescopi spaziali. Lo scenario di riferimento è quello della Instrument Workstation che fornisce supporto al team di sviluppo dello strumento durante la fase di integrazione, verifica e calibrazione e al team operativo dell’Osservatorio o del Segmento di Terra, durante le successive fasi di collaudo e operativa. Come indicato nel nome, la configurabilità è la caratteristica fondamentale del progetto. A questa sono state dedicate molte risorse sia in fase di definizione dei requisiti e di progettazione sia in fase di realizzazione. Il framework ottenuto (CIWS-FW) consente allo sviluppatore di modellare molti aspetti caratteristici dello strumento mediante file di configurazione. Altre funzionalità specifiche richieste per il trattamento dei dati dello strumento possono essere realizzate dallo sviluppatore utilizzando moduli di base (templates) e librerie offerte dal CIWS-FW.
