1. Study of the Form Factor Using the SND Detector.

Abstract

In this paper, we present the form factor measurement in the virtual photon mass range 1 GeV < < 2 GeV in the process. Measurements are based on the data acquired by the SND detector at the VEPP-2000 collider in Novosibirsk. The obtained form factor is approximated in the vector meson dominance (VMD) model. The joint fitting of the form factor obtained in the SND and NA60 experiments is also performed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

VEPP-2000 is the only electron–positron collider with round beams. This factor enables one to increase the beam–beam effect limit. During the 2018–2019 season, the experimental program was focused on the energy range of 550–990 MeV per beam. Data accumulation was performed using CMD-3 and SND detectors. The measured luminosity integral proved to have a record value of 68 pb–1 per detector. After connecting to the BINP injection complex in 2016, the luminosity of VEPP-2000 is limited by the beam–beam effects in the entire energy range.

Abstract

In the framework of the large hadron collider (LHC) upgrade project, new materials are proposed for the vacuum. Amorphous carbon deposited onto the vacuum-chamber wall is examined as a coating with a low secondary electron emission rate for superconducting systems designed to upgrade the LHC, i.e., to increase the luminosity of the machine (HL-LHC). Since protons will generate synchrotron radiation with a critical energy of ~10 eV and a flux of 1016 photon m–1 s–1, it is important to study the effect of photons on a surface covered with amorphous carbon at room and cryogenic temperatures. The construction and parameters of the setup on the new synchrotron beamline of the VEPP-2000 booster are described. The first results of measuring the photodesorption coefficient are also presented.

Abstract

The VEPP-2000 electron–positron collider has been operating at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics (BINP) since 2010. Applying the concept of round colliding beams allowed the record value of the beam–beam parameter ξ ∼ 0.12 to be reached. The upgrading of the VEPP-2000 complex, including the connection to the new BINP Injection Complex and modification of the electron–position booster and the BEP–VEPP-2000 transfer channels to work at 1 GeV, resulted in a significant increase in luminosity. Work on statistical data collection using detectors is in progress.

Abstract

The cross section of the process e+e− → π+π− has been measured in the Spherical Neutral Detector (SND) experiment at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider VEPP-2000 in the energy region 525 <$$ \sqrt{s} $$ s < 883 MeV. The measurement is based on data with an integrated luminosity of about 4.6 pb−1. The systematic uncertainty of the cross section determination is 0.8% at $$ \sqrt{s} $$ s > 0.600 GeV. The ρ meson parameters are obtained as mρ = 775.3 ± 0.5 ± 0.6 MeV, Γρ = 145.6 ± 0.6 ± 0.8 MeV, Bρ→e+e− × Bρ→π+π− = (4.89 ± 0.02 ± 0.04) × 10−5, and the parameters of the e+e− → ω → π+π− process, suppressed by G-parity, as Bω→e+e− × Bω→π+π− = (1.32 ± 0.06 ± 0.02) × 10−6 and and ϕρω = 110.7 ± 1.5 ± 1.0 degrees.

Abstract

We present recent results on study of exclusive processes of $e^+e^-$ annihilation into hadrons with the SND detector. Data were collected at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider in the center-of-mass energy range from 0.3 to 2 GeV. In particular, we have measured the cross sections for $e^+e^-\to\pi^+\pi^-$ and $n\bar{n}$, studied the radiative decays of excited light vector mesons to $\pi^0\gamma$ and $\eta\pi^0\gamma$, and performed a search for the rare processes of $e^+e^-$ annihilation into $C$-even resonances $\eta$ and $f_1(1285)$.

Abstract

The cross section of the process e + e − → ηπ + π − is measured using the data collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 collider in the center-of-mass energy range from 1.1 to 2.0 GeV. The decay mode η → γγ is used for η meson reconstruction in the data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 78.3 pb −1. The energy dependence of the e + e − → ηπ + π − cross section is fitted within the framework of vector meson dominance in order to extract the Γ(ρ(1450) → e + e − ) B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (ρ(1450) → ηπ + π − ) and the Γ(ρ(1700) → e + e − ) B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (ρ(1700) → ηπ + π − ) products. Based on conservation of vector current, the analyzed data are used to test the relationship between the e + e − → ηπ + π − cross section and the spectral function in τ − → ηπ − π 0 ντ decay. The e + e − → ηπ + π − cross section obtained with the CMD-3 detector is in good agreement with the previous measurements.

In 2017 the detector SND resumed data taking at the VEPP-2000 e + e − collider after its upgrade. Using of a new positron source allows significantly increase collider luminosity. Abstract

The VEPP-2000 electron–positron collider has been operating at BINP since 2010. Applying the concept of round colliding beams allows us to reach the record value of the beam–beam parameter, ξ ~ 0.12. The VEPP-2000 upgrade, including the connection to the new BINP Injection Complex, the improvement of the BEP booster, and the BEP–VEPP-2000 transfer channels for operation at 1 GeV, substantially increases the installation luminosity. Data collection is in progress.

Abstract

This paper reports measurements of the hadronic cross sections with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 electron-positron collider. The overall size of the data sample analyzed is about 60 pb-1, collected by the CMD- 3 running since December 2010 up to June 2013 in the c.m. energy range from 0.32 to 2.0 GeV. The preliminary results of data analysis for various modes of e + e − → hadrons are discussed.

Abstract

We analyze the data on e + e − collisions at c.m.s. energies between 0.32 and 2 GeV collected in 2011–2013 with the CMD3 detector operating at the VEPP-3 e + e − collider of the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of nearly 60 pb-1. Preliminary results e + e − → K + K − nπ (n = 1, 2, 3) on the reactions with two charged kaons in the final state are presented, and the procedure for estimating the integrated luminosity for each energy setting is described.

Corresponding data set is about 100 pb−1 of integrated luminosity collected at the energy region s below 2 GeV. The processes e + e − → K + K − , π 0 γ , η π + π − π 0 and ω π 0 η have been studied.

Abstract

The electron-positron collider VEPP-2000 operates at BINP from 2010 year. The application of round colliding beams concept along with the accurate orbit and lattice correction yielded the high peak luminosity of 1.2 × 1031 cm−2 s−1 at 500MeV. The peak luminosity limited only by beam-beam effects, while average luminosity–by present lack of positrons in whole energy range of 160–1000 MeV. To perform high luminosity at high energies the top-up injection is needed. At present new electron and positron injection complex at BINP is commissioned and ready to feed VEPP-2000 collider with intensive beams with energy of 450MeV.

Abstract

Recent results on study of exclusive processes of $e^+e^-$ annihilation into hadrons below 2 GeV obtained at the SND detector are presented. The analysis are based on data collected at the VEPP-2M and VEPP-2000 colliders. In particular, we present the measurements of the $e^+e^-\to\eta\pi^+\pi^-$, $e^+e^-\to\eta K^+K^-$, $e^+e^-\to K_SK_L\pi^0$ cross sections, and the preliminary results on study of the $e^+e^-\to\pi^+\pi^-$, $e^+e^-\to n\bar{n}$, $e^+e^-\to\pi^0\gamma$, and the upper limit for $\eta\to e^+e^-$ decay branching fraction

Abstract

The data sample collected in 2011-2013 at the c.m.s. energies between 0.32-2 GeV with the CMD-3 detector operating at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider is analzed. The collected data corresponds to an integrated luminosity about ∼ 60pb−1. The techniques for determination of the integrated luminosity for each energy setting is described. Some preliminary results of the study of the processes e+e−→ K+ K− + nπ (n = 1,2,3) with two charged kaons in the final state are presented. These processes have several intermediate states, which are important to correctly descript the angular distributions of final particles and the cross sections dependence on the energy.

New measurement of the e+e−→ nn̅cross section based on the data set recorded in 2017 with the SND detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider is presented.Inthe energyrangefromthe thresholdupto2GeVthe cross section is almost flat. Its average value is 0.5 nb. The polar angle distribution indicates dominanceof the magnetic formfactor GM .

Abstract

The cross section of the process e+e−→ π+π−π+π− has been measured using an integrated luminosity of 17 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector in the center-of-mass energy range 650-1000 MeV. High-precision measurements of various hadronic cross sections are of great interest in relation with the problem of the muon anomalous magnetic moment g-2. This measurement can be also used to test the relation between the cross section of e+e−→ π+ π−π+ π− and the spectral function for the τ−→ π−π0π0π0 decay predicted by the conservation of vector current (CVC).

Abstract

A brief review of the recent results on the hadronic cross section measurements with the CMD-3 detector at the e+e− collider VEPP-2000 is given. Focus is made on the processes with charged kaons in multihadron events, which have a strong impact on strange meson spectroscopy and form factors that are important ingredients in the Dalitz plot analysis. Experimental data relevant to the topic are presented from the broad energy range covered by VEPP-2000 and compared to earlier measurements by the different collaborations. The analysis is based on the integrated luminosity of about 100 pb−1 collected in 2011, 2012 and 2017.

Abstract

We report preliminary results on the cross section of the process e+e− → φ(1020)η measured at 30 center-of-mass energy points in the range from 1.59 up to 2.0 GeV. Data analysis is based on the integrated luminosity of 22 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector in 2011–2012. The obtained cross section agrees with the BaBar measurement and has better statistical accuracy.

Abstract

In the experiment with the SND detector at the VEPP-2000 e + e – collider the cross section for the process e + e – → ηπ+π– has been measured in the center-of-mass energy range from 1.22 to 2.00 GeV. Obtained results are in agreement with previous measurements and have better accuracy. The energy dependence of the e + e – → ηπ+π– cross section has been fitted with the vector-meson dominance model. From this fit the product of the branching fractions B(ρ(1450) → ηπ+π–)B(ρ(1450) → π+π–) has been extracted and compared with the same products for (ρ(1450) → ωП0 and (ρ(1450) → π+π– decays. The obtained cross section data have been also used to test the conservation of vector current hypothesis.

Abstract

Latest results on study of processes of $e^+e^-$ annihilation into exclusive hadronic states at $\sqrt{s}$ < 2 GeV obtained in the SND experiment at the VEPP-2M and VEPP-2000 colliders are presented. In particular, we announce results of the precise measurements of the $e^+e^-\to \pi^0 \gamma$ and $e^+e^-\to K^+ K^-$ cross sections, the first measurements of the $e^+e^-\to \omega \pi^0 \eta$ and $e^+e^-\to \pi^+ \pi^-\pi^0 \eta$ reactions and preliminary results of measurement of the $e^+e^-\to \pi^+ \pi^-$ cross section in energy range 0.5 < $\sqrt{s}$ < 0.9 GeV.

Abstract

The e+e-→ηπ+π- cross section is measured at the Spherical Neutral Detector (SND) detector in the η decay mode η→3π0. The analysis is based on the data sample with an integrated luminosity of 32.7 pb-1 collected at the VEPP-2000 e+e- collider in the center-of-mass energy range s=1.075–2.000 GeV. The data obtained in the η→3π0 decay mode are found to be in agreement with the previous SND measurements in the η→γγ mode. Therefore the measurements in the two modes are combined.

Abstract

This report is devoted to the recent results of the study of the processes e+e− → KSKL, K+K−, π+π−2π0, 2π+2π−, ηγ at the ϕ-meson region with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 collider. From the combined analysis of KSKL and K+K− final states the ϕ-meson parameters were measured, and the obtained ratio of gϕK+K− and gϕKSKL couplings was found to be compatible with the isospin symmetry. From the analyzes of the π+π−2π0 and 2π+2π− final states the branching ratios ℬ(ϕ → π+π−2π0) and ℬ(ϕ → 2π+2π−) were determined.

Abstract

Since December 2010 the CMD-3 and SND detectors detectors collect data at the VEPP-2000 electron-positron collider. In 2013-2015 the injection facility of the collider has undergone an upgrade of the injection system. The new BINP injection complex has been connected to the VEPP-2000 collider, so the restrictions connected to the lack of positrons and limited beam energy transfer do not apply any more. The collider luminosity in whole energy range is restricted now only by beam-beam effects. VEPP-2000 collider started to collect data with two detectors at 2016 year. The collected data sample since 2010 corresponds more than 100 pb-1 of integrated luminosity per detector in the c.m. energy between 0.32 and 2GeV. We will report here results of analysis of various hadronic cross sections from detectors both published and preliminary. These measurements are important by themselves and also because of the implications for anomaly of the magnetic moment of a muon (g-2) discrepancy.

Abstract: Since 2010 the CMD-3 detector has been collecting data at the collider VEPP-2000 at Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics. CMD-3 is a general purpose detector designed to study annihilation into hadrons in the wide energy range . The CMD-3 barrel electromagnetic calorimeter consists of two subsystems: closest to the beam pipe is the Liquid Xenon calorimeter and the outer one is based on CsI scintillation crystals. Abstract

The sensitivity of the VEPP-2000 e + e − collider in the search for the rare decay η → e + e − has been studied. The inverse reaction e + e − → η is proposed for this search. We have analyzed a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 108 nb−1 collected with the SND detector in the center-of-mass energy range 520–580 MeV and found no background events for the reaction e + e − → η in the decay mode η → π0π0π0. In the absence of background, a sensitivity to B(η → e + e −) of 10−6 can be reached during two weeks of VEPP-2000 operation. Such a sensitivity is higher than the current upper limit on B(η → e + e −) by a factor of 2.3.

Abstract

Experiments with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 electron–positron collider in the range of center of mass collision energies from 0.32 to 2 GeV have been performed since December 2010. The amount of accumulated data corresponds to an integrated luminosity of about 60 pb-1. The resultsof a preliminary analysis are presented for the following annihilation channels: e + e - → 3(π+π-), 2(π+π-π0), K + K -π+π-, K + K -, $$p\bar p$$ , and π+π-. Since processes of electron–positron annihilation that involve the production of multihadron states proceed through several intermediate states, their analysis is necessary for the correct description of the emission-angle and invariant-mass distributions of product particles.

Abstract

A survey of preliminary results of experiments with the SND detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider in the energy range of \(\sqrt s \) = 1000–2000 MeV MeV is presented. The cross sections for the processes e+e− → π0π0γ, e+e− → π+π−π0π0, e+e− → π+π−π0, e+e− → π+π−η, and e+e− → \(p\bar p\) were measured. The measured cross sections agree with the results of earlier measurements but have a higher precision. The cross section for the process e+e− → ηγ in the energy range extending from 1.4 to 2 GeV was measured for the first time. The ratio GE/GM for the neutron was measured for the first time in the timelike region.

Abstract

The issues of control automation of the VEPP-2000 electron-positron complex (a new, large physical facility developed at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics, Novosibirsk and constructed and put into operation in Russia in the 20th century) are considered on the example of one of the main procedures for achieving the design parameters of a physical facility — changing the energy of accumulated and colliding beams. An approach to developing the automation system of a large physical facility is proposed, and the key points of construction of the architecture of this system as a whole and its individual subsystems are discussed.

Abstract

The CMD-3 detector is taking data at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider (Budker INP, Novosibirsk, Russia). The main goal of experiments with CMD-3 is the measurement of the cross-sections and dynamics of the exclusive modes of $e^+e^- \to hadrons$ reactions. In particular, these results provide important input for calculation of the hadronic contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment. First round of data taking with the CMD-3 detector was performed in 2011-2013 with about 60 1/pb integrated luminosity in the energy range from 0.32 to 2.0 GeV in center-of-mass. Amount of collected data exceeds all previous experiments. Here we present the survey of results of data taken in 2011-2013, including precise measurement of $e^+e^-\to \pi^+\pi^-$ reaction, as well as other hadron final states with up to 6 pions or states include 2 kaons. At the end of 2016 the VEPP-2000 collider resumed operations after upgrade of the injection system, and performance approaching to the project luminosity of $10^{32}\ cm^{-2}s^{-1}$ at 2 GeV has been demonstrated. First preliminary results of new 2017 run are also presented.

Abstract

VEPP-2000 is electron-positron collider exploiting the novel concept of round colliding beams. After three seasons of data taking in the whole energy range of 160-1000 MeV per beam it was stopped in 2013 for injection chain upgrade. The linking to the new BINP source of intensive beams together with booster synchrotron modernization provides the drastic luminosity gain at top energy of VEPP-2000.

High energy physics experiments were started at VEPP-2000 at the end of 2010; the third experimental run was finished in July 2013. The last run was devoted to the energy range 160–510 MeV in a beam. Compton backscattering energy measurements were used for the regular energy calibration of the VEPP-2000, together with resonance depolarization and NMR methods. The conception of the round colliding beam lattice along with precise orbit and lattice correction yielded a record high peak luminosity of 1.2 × 1031 cm−2 s−1 at 510 MeV and an average luminosity of 0.9 × 1031 cm−2 s−1 per run. A total betatron tune shift of 0.174 was achieved at 392.5 MeV. This corresponds to the beam-beam parameter ξ = 0.125 in terms of the collision point. The injection system is currently modernized to allow injection of particles at the VEPP-2000 energy maximum and the elimination of the existing lack of positrons.

The beam energy measurement system for the VEPP-2000 electron-positron collider is described. The method of Compton backscattering of $CO$ laser photons on the electron beam is used. The relative systematic uncertainty of the beam energy determination is estimated as 6\cdot10^{-5}. Abstract

The CMD-3 detector started data taking at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000 [1] in December 2010. The collected data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 87 pb−1 in the c.m. energy range from 1.06 up to 2 GeV and 91 pb−1 from 0.32 to 1.06 GeV. The integrated luminosity was measured by counting e+e−→ e+e− and e+e−→ γγ events, allowing additional photons in the final state. Preliminary results of the luminosity measurement are presented for various energy ranges and its accuracy is estimated to be 1%.

Abstract

Recent results on e+e−annihilation to hadrons from SND experiment at VEPP-2000 collider are presented. Corresponding data set is about 200 pb−1 of integrated luminosity collected at the energy region below 2 GeV. The processes e+e− → π+π− , π0γ, ωπ0, π+π−π0, ηπ+π−π0, η, π+π−4π0 have been studied. Searches for e+e− annihilation to C-even resonances η and f1(1285) were done.

The cross section of the process e+ e−→ KS KL π0 has been studied with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 electron-positron collider in the center-of-mass energy range from 1.1 to 2 GeV. Preliminary results on the total cross section of the process are presented.
