The migration of medical staff results in the diminution of human resources in the health sector, undermining the capacity of developing countries' health systems to provide medical services equitably. Various factors, such as economic, professional, political, social, or personal considerations, contribute to the decision of health workers to emigrate. This paper's primary objective is to analyze the prevailing trends in the migration flows and stocks of physicians and nurses, with a focus on identifying the principal pull factors of migration. The preferred destination countries for Romanian health professionals include the UK, Germany, France, and Italy. Notably, Germany stands out as a leader in health care professionals' migration flows, characterized by two distinct migration periods: the first featuring exceptionally high levels of physician migration and the second marked by increasing levels of nurses' migration. Through panel data regression analysis, we have established that the pull factors for physicians differ from those for nurses. For physicians, the presence of a Romanian community of health professionals in the destination countries is crucial, whereas for nurses, the development level of the destination country holds top importance.

International authorities such as the European Commission and the United Nations pay special attention to sustainable urban development, for this purpose, strategies such as the European Green Deal or the Sustainable Development Strategy 2030 agenda, SDG 11 Sustainable cities and communities are developed. Urban development represents a fundamental direction in the transition process towards the green economy, a sustainable economic model. The paper aims to identify the degree of efficiency of economic development in the context of sustainable development for 41 cities in Romania, Germany, Japan, United States of America and Australia. To achieve this objective, the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method is used, with the aim of identifying the gaps regarding the sustainability of the analyzed cities. Data Envelopment Analysis allows the evaluation of the efficiency of urban settlements in the sample based on representative variables, selected as input. So, the research is ready to give answer to question like “What are the efficient cities in terms of sustainability?” and “What are the relationships between the cities included in the sample?”. The main results showed that there are cities that have a model of sustainable economic development, but certain cities present significant gaps from the point of view of efficient sustainable economic development. In addition, port cities seem to develop an association relationship, with inefficient port cities being associated with efficient port cities.

This study offers a comprehensive exploration of unemployment, spanning short-term, medium-term and long-term periods, highlighting the necessity for in-depth analysis and timely intervention. The primary goal is to develop machine learning models proficient in identifying the characteristics of individuals undergoing unemployment. Utilizing data from the European Social Survey, the research employs data processing techniques and diverse machine learning algorithms, including Logistic Regression, Random Forest, Ada Boost, LightGBM, and Gradient Boosting. The comparative analysis of unemployment across different durations reveals significant variations in predicting factors. Short-term unemployment is notably influenced by age. For those unemployed for twelve months or more, factors such as perceived equal opportunities and attachment to Europe become influential. In the context of unemployment lasting five years, variables related to happiness and marital status prove crucial, impacting motivation and potentially contributing to extended unemployment. This study marks the initiation of a comprehensive exploration into understanding the traits of unemployed individuals, extending beyond the individual level to incorporate macroeconomic considerations. In a global economic system conditioned by limited resources and faced with increasing worldwide demand as well as increasing environmental degradation, the only viable option remains the resource-efficient, circular economy. Our planet has limited quantities of essential resources such as water and soil. This paper provides information on research carried out using steel slag as a soil amendment and its influence on agricultural crops. The use of steel slag on chromic luvisols from the didactic farm Moara Domneasca has been successfully used as an amendment to correct soil reaction as an alternative to the currently used acid soil correction materials (limestone and dolomite). On the other hand, since slag contains essential plant nutrients such as P, Mn, Fe, Ca, etc. in different concentrations, its application has positively influenced crops production. This use allows reducing the consumption of natural resources and provides a great agricultural, environmental and economic gain by minimizing the negative environmental effects of steel slag. Given the current situation regarding global warming, we intend to establish a forest plantation in the Cunești area of Călărași County, on a sandy land, prone to deflation, with accentuated climate deficit. According to the records of the Călărași Meteorological Station, four of the ten years analyzed have an average temperature of over 13 0C, higher by two degrees compared to the average of 1961-2000, of 11.20C. The physical and geographical conditions of the investigated area are characteristic for the Danube floodplain, where alluvial soils predominate, which in certain periods benefit from phreatic moistening. In order to determine the type and subtype of soil, its morphological and physico-chemical characterization, a soil profile and three pedological surveys were carried out, from which soil samples were collected on pedogenetic horizons up to the phreatic level (0-300 cm). Based on the local pedoclimatic conditions, the formula for afforestation with xerophyte species was established, with fast growth and low requirements in terms of soil trophicity. The studied territory is located in the east of Prahova County, at a distance of about 33 km from the municipality of Ploieşti, with an area of 4700 ha. The study was carried out with the aim of identifying the zonal soil types, their fertility and the description of the limiting or restrictive factors of the use of these lands for agricultural crops. Both main soil profiles and secondary profiles were carried out to reproduce the situation as faithfully as possible soils in the studied area. The identified soil types are represented by Fluvisols, Phaeozems, Gleysols and Technosols. Knowing the nature and intensity of the limiting factors of agricultural production is necessary to establish the ameliorative requirements of the soils, specifying the ameliorative measure and the surface (ha) on which it is applied to reduce or eliminate the negative effects, some measures being conditioned by the initial application of other measures.
