In the present research, the degradation of tylosin (TYL) by nano Ag/process under various reaction conditions was investigated. The experiments were performed in a batch reactor, using nanosilver as a catalyst. Effects of pH, persulfate concentration, temperature, and catalytic nano Ag on the degradation efficiency of TYL by persulfate are examined. For treatment of solutions containing 50 mg/L of TYL, the optimum obtained conditions were: 0.4 g/L of nano Ag, 100 mM of the KPS, initial pH of 6.0, and temperature of 40°C. The degradation of TYL by nano Ag/oxidation process has been found to follow the pseudo-first-order kinetic model. Nano nalidixic acid was prepared by ultrasonic method in carbon tetrachloride. Nano nalidixic acid (quinolone antibiotic) was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared spectroscopy (IR) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The antibacte-rial activities of nano nalidixic acid were tested against microorganisms and compared with the microscale drug. The results show that nano nalidixic acid has good inhibitory properties against two Gram-positive species, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus sub-tilis. Nano nalidixic acid also showed good antifungal activity against Candida albicans. Nano nalidixic acid can be injected into the human body as a decontaminating agent to prevent the growth of harmful microorganisms more effectively than the micro-sized drug. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Protonation of gabapentin was studied using corona discharge ion mobility spectrometry with two types of reactant ions at temperature of 200°C. It was found that at elevated temperatures, ionization of gabapentin proceeds via two channels, including the protonation and reactant ion attachment, in the presence of both hydronium and ammonium reactant ions. The effect of the sample concentration on the relative intensity of product ion peaks was also studied. It turned out that in high concentrations, in addition to the protonation of gabapentin, binding of the reactant ion and the formation of proton-bound dimer also occurred, while in low concentrations, the only product of the ionization process is protonated gabapentin. Density functional theory (DFT) with B3LYP and M062X functionals employing the same basis set 6-311++G(d,p) was used to extend the experimental findings. The structures of the several conformers of neutral and protonated gabapentin were obtained. Based on them, topical proton affinity and topical gas-phase basicity of gabapentin were calculated for selected conformers. The attachment of reactant ions to neutral gabapentin and formation of proton-bound dimer were thermodynamically studied.

Organic alcohols as very volatile compounds play a crucial role in the air quality of the atmosphere. So, the removal processes of such compounds are an important atmospheric challenge. The main goal of this research is to discover the atmospheric relevance of degradation paths of linear alcohols by imidogen with the aid of simulation by quantum mechanical (QM) methods. To this end, we combine broad mechanistic and kinetic results to get more accurate information and to have a deeper insight into the behavior of the designed reactions. Thus, the main and necessary reaction pathways are explored by well-behaved QM methods for complete elucidation of the studying gaseous reactions. Moreover, the potential energy surfaces as  a main factor are computed for easier judging of the most probable pathways in the simulated reactions. Our attempt to find the occurrence of the considered reactions in the atmospheric conditions is completed by precisely evaluating the rate constants of all elementary reactions. All of the computed bimolecular rate constants have a positive dependency on both temperature and pressure. The kinetic results show that H-abstraction from the α carbon is dominant relative to the other sites. Finally, by the results of this study, we conclude that at moderate temperatures and pressures primary alcohols can degrade with imidogen, so they can get atmospheric relevance., (© 2023. Near-infrared luminescent materials have recently received considerable attention for a large number of applications, including in solid-state lighting, as bioimaging agents, as photovoltaic cells, and in the telecommunication industry. By adding diverse electron-donating or withdrawing groups on ancillary ligands based on benzenethiol-phenanthroline, we synthesized and optoelectronically characterized a series of novel ionic ruthenium complexes, namely RuS, RuSCl, RuSMe, and RuSNH 2 , for using in a light-emitting electrochemical cell. The synthesized complexes are intense red emitters in the range of 584-605 nm in solution, which depends on the substitutions of electron donor/acceptor moieties on the ancillary ligands. To find a suitable quantum mechanical approach, benchmark calculations based on time-dependent density functional theory were carried out on these complexes. Our benchmark revealed that the M06-L method has results close to those of the experiment. Furthermore, to gain a deeper insight into electronic transitions, several excitation processes were investigated at the TD-DFT-SMD-MN12-L/gen level. The results showed that in the designed complexes, the dominant transition is between the 4d Z 2 electron of Ru (particle) and the π* orbitals of the ancillary ligand (hole). The single-layer devices, including these complexes along with a Ga/In cathode by a facile deposition method without the addition of any electron or hole transport layers, were fabricated and displayed red (678 nm) to near-infrared (701 nm) emission as well as a decrease of turn-on voltage from 3.85 to 3.10 V. In particular, adding a methyl group to the ancillary ligand in the complex RuSNH 2 increases the external quantum efficiency to 0.55%, one of the highest observed values in the ruthenium phenanthroline family. This simple structure of the device lets us develop the practical applications of light-emitting electrochemical cells based on injection and screen-printing methods, which are very promising for the vacuum-free deposition of top electrodes.

Nitric oxide (NO) and carbon monoxide (CO) are two important gasotransmitters with critical biological roles in the human body. Due to their short lifetime and dangerous side effects at high concentrations, it is essential to find safe storage and slow release methods of these two gases. Herein, we report the multi-scale simulations of two-dimensional (Zn)MOF-470 doped with antimicrobial Ag atoms to evaluate the degree of enhancement of adsorption and dynamics of NO and CO. The results show that NO binds to Ag stronger than CO. In addition, the decoration of the benzene ring with Ag atoms on both sides has led to the effective adsorption of NO and CO with binding energies of -26.34 and -21.71 kcal mol -1 , respectively. The GCMC results show that Ag can significantly improve NO and CO storage capacity, especially in low-pressure ranges. The storage capacity of NO in (Zn)MOF-470 and Ag-doped MOFs is 6.12 and 7.21 mol kg -1 , respectively. This storage capacity for CO is 4.09 and 5.48 mol kg -1 , respectively. The heat of adsorption for NO and CO was obtained to be 31.72 and 25.64 kJ mol -1 for (Zn)MOF-470, and 36.5 and 31.12 kJ mol -1 for Ag-(Zn)MOF-470 at 298 K and 1 bar. Besides, the MD results indicate that when Ag is doped into the structure of MOFs, the dynamics of gases within the pores of MOFs significantly decrease. When Ag atoms are considered mobile, the dynamics of guest molecules increase and it shows that the structural and dynamical behavior of NO and CO strongly depends on the mobility or immobility of doped Ag atoms. The result from the MSD directions ( x , y , and z components) indicates that the diffusion of NO and CO within the pores of (Zn)MOF-470 is anisotropic and this may be due to the 2D structural characteristics of the MOF, the dipolar nature of NO and CO molecules, and the very narrow and layered pores of (Zn)MOF-470. These promising results from the simulations suggest that (Zn)MOF-470 and doping Ag atoms into this MOF can improve the storage capacity and slow release of bioactive NO and CO along with utilization of the antimicrobial nature of Ag atoms in medical applications.

Water as an important assistant can alter the reactivity of atmospheric species. This project is designed to investigate the impact of a single water molecule on the atmospheric reactions of aromatic compounds that have not been attended to comprehensively. In the first part, the atmospheric oxidation mechanisms of thiophene initiated by hydroperoxyl radical through a multiwell-multichannel potential energy surface were studied to have useful information about the chemistry of the considered reaction. It was verified that for the thiophene plus HO 2 reaction, the addition mechanism is dominant the same as other aromatic compounds. Due to the importance of the subject and the presence of water molecules in the atmosphere with a high concentration that we know as relative humidity, and also the lack of insight into the influence of water on the reactions of aromatic compounds with active atmospheric species, herein, the effect of a single water molecule on the addition pathways of the title reaction is evaluated. In another word, this research explores how water can change the occurrence of reactions of aromatic compounds in the atmosphere. For this, the presence of one water molecule is simulated by higher-level calculations (BD(T) method) through the main interactions with the stationary points of the most probable pathways. The results show that the mechanism of the reaction with water is more complicated than the bare reaction due to the formation of the ring-like structures. Also, water molecule decreases the relative energies of all addition pathways. Moreover, atoms in molecule theory (AIM) along with the kinetic study by the transition state (TST) and the Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus (RRKM) theories demonstrate that the overall interactions of a path determine how the rate of that path changes. In this regard, our results establish that the interactions of water with HO 2 (thiophene) in the initial complex 1WHA (1WTA or 1WTB) are stronger (weaker) than the sum of its interactions in transition states. Also, for the water-assisted pathways, the ratio of the partition function of the transition state to the partition functions of the reactants is similar to the respective bare reaction. Therefore, the reaction rates of the bare pathways are more than the water-assisted paths that include the 1WHA complex and are less than the paths that involve the 1WTA and 1WTB complexes., (© 2022. The current research is constructed for considering the chemical ionization and dissociation of perindopril in the positive mode of corona discharge ion mobility spectrometry. Four product ion peaks are observed in the ion mobility spectrum of perindopril erbumine at the cell temperature of 473 K. These peaks are assigned through the obtained intensity variation analysis in the ion mobility spectra over the elapsed time accompanied by the calculations backed by the validated density functional theory (DFT). In this regard, the most stable ionic species associated with each peak and the corresponding reliable generation pathways are found by the well-confirmed meta hybrid density functional method, M06-2X. The peaks are assigned to the protonated perindopril and its dissociation products, including counter ion and the related fragment ions. However, the structures of the neutral perindopril in the gas phase are thoroughly assessed to find a more stable one. The predicted chemical ionization products by the theory are in excellent agreement with our presented experiment here. Theoretical evaluations demonstrated that the production of a fragment by dissociation process occurs when perindopril gets a proton from the ionization region. Also, without protons, there is no dissociation process. Therefore, our mechanism investigated here is the proton transfer one. All possible sites of perindopril are considered theoretically for protonation along with their possible reactions. In addition to the computed PES, the assigned ions for obtained spectra are confirmed by the computed equilibrium constants and rate constants. Our theoretical results show that the peak of the main fragment is for M-CH 3 CH 2 OH produced by a reaction pathway involving no barrier. The chemical resistance of drugs against any change in their composition and studying the rate of multiwell-multichannel reactions in the liquid phase, respectively, are the important challenges of pharmacology and chemistry. In this article, we investigate two challenges together through studying drug stability against its unimolecular reactions in the liquid phase. Accordingly, multiwell-multichannel reactions based on 1,4-H shifts are designed for simplified drugs such as 3-hydroxyl-1H-pyrrol-2(5H)-one, 3-hydroxyfuran-2(5H)-one, and 3-hydroxythiophen-2(5H)-one. After that, the reverse and forward rate constants are calculated by using the Rice Ramsperger Kassel Marcus theory (RRKM) and Eckart tunneling correction over the 298-360 K temperature range. Eventually, using the obtained rate constants, we can judge drug resistance versus structural changes. To attain the goals, the potential energy surfaces of all reactions are computed by the complete basis set-quadratic Becke3 composite method, CBS-QB3, and the high-performance meta hybrid density functional method, M06-2X, along with the universal Solvation Model based on solute electron Density, SMD, due to providing more precise and efficient results for the barrier heights and thermodynamic studies. To find the main reaction pathway of the intramolecular 1,4-H shifts in the target molecules, all possible reaction pathways are considered mechanistically in the liquid phase. Also, the direct dynamics calculations that carry out by RRKM theory on the modeled pathways are used to distinguish the main reaction pathway. As the main finding of this research, the results of quantum chemical calculations accompanied by the RRKM/Eckart rate constants are used to predict the stability of drugs. This study proposes a new way to examine drug stability by the computer-aided reaction design of target drugs. Our results show that 3-hydroxyfuran-2(5H)-one based drugs are the most stable and 3-hydroxythiophen-2(5H)-one based drugs are more stable than 3-hydroxy-1H-pyrrol-2 (5H)-one based drugs in water solution., (© 2021. Understanding the mechanism of hydrazine oxidation reaction by OH radical along with the rate constants of all possible pathways leads to explain the fate of hydrazine in the atmosphere. In this article, the comprehensive mechanisms and kinetics of the hydrazine plus hydroxyl radical reaction have been investigated theoretically at different temperatures and pressures. To achieve the main goals, a series of high levels of quantum chemical calculations have been widely implemented in reliable channels of the H-abstraction, S N 2, and addition/elimination reactions. The energy profile of all pathways accompanied by the molecular properties of the involved stationary points has been characterized at the MP2, M06-2X, and CCSD(T)/CBS levels. To estimate accurate barrier energies of the H-abstraction channels, large numbers of the CCSD (T) calculations in conjunction with various augmented basis sets have been implemented. The direct dynamic calculations have been carried out using the validated M06-2X/maug-cc-pVTZ level, and also by the CCSD(T) (energies) + MP2 (partition functions) level. The pressure-dependent rate constants of the barrierless pathways have been investigated by the strong collision approach. Therefore, the main behaviors of the N 2 H 4  + OH reaction have been explored according to the influences of temperature and pressure on the computed rate coefficients within the well-behaved theoretical frameworks of the TST, VTST, and RRKM theories. It has been found that the H-abstraction mechanism (to form N 2 H 3 ) is dominant relative to the S N 2 reaction and OH-addition to the N center of N 2 H 4 moiety (to form H 2 NOH + NH 2 ). The computed high pressure limit rate constant of the main reaction pathway, k(298.15) = 7.31 × 10 -11  cm 3 molecule -1  s -1 , has an excellent agreement with the experimental value (k (298.15) = (6.50 ± 1.3) × 10 -11  cm 3 molecule -1  s -1 ) recommended by Vaghjiani. Also, the atmospheric lifetime of hydrazine degradation by OH radicals has been demonstrated to be 32.80 to 1161.11 h at the altitudes of 0-50 km. Finally, the disagreement in the calculated rate constants between the previous theoretical study and experimental results has been rectified.

The reaction mechanisms and kinetics of thiophene oxidation reactions initiated by hydroperoxyl radical, and decomposition of the related intermediates and complexes, have been considered herein by using high-level DFT and ab initio calculations. The main energetic parameters of all stationary points of the suggested potential energy surfaces have been computed at the BD(T) and CCSD(T) methods, based on the geometries optimized at the B3LYP/6-311 + g(d,p) level of theory. Rate constants of bimolecular reactions (high-pressure limit rate constants) at temperatures from 300 to 3000 K for the first steps of the title reaction have been obtained through the conventional transition state theory (TST), while the pressure dependent rate constants and the rate constants of the second and other steps have been calculated employing the Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus/Master equation (RRKM/ME). The results show that the rate constants of addition to α and β carbons have positive temperature dependence and negative pressure dependence. It is found that the additions of HO 2 to the α and β carbons of thiophene in the initial steps of the title reaction are the most favored pathways. Also, the addition to the sulfur atom has a minor contribution. But, all efforts for simulating hydrogen abstraction reactions have been unsuccessful. In this complex oxidation reaction, about 12 different products are obtained, including important isomers such as thiophene-epoxide, thiophene-ol, thiophene-oxide, oxathiane, and thiophenone. The calculated total rate constants for generation of all minimum stationary points show that the addition reactions to the α and β carbons are the fastest among all at temperatures below 1000 K, while the proposed multi-step parallel reactions are more competitive at temperatures above 1200 K. Furthermore, important inter-and intra-molecular interactions for some species have been investigated by two well-known quantum chemistry method, the NBO and AIM analyses. Thermochemical properties such as free energy, enthalpy, internal energy, and entropy for thiophene and hydroperoxyl radical and related species in the simulated reactions have been predicted using a combination of the B3LYP and BD(T) methods.

For the CH 3 SH + OH atmospheric reaction, we study the mechanism, potential energy surface, thermodynamic parameters of all stationary points, and rate of generation of the main product channels at high, low, and intermediate pressures. In this study, the UMP2, UM062X, UB3LYP, and CCSD(T) methods by Dunning and Pople basis sets are used and the results are compared with the experimental data. It is theoretically predicted that the reaction has fourteen possible pathways with eight different products in the gas phase. The thermodynamic results show that OH radical extracts predominantly the hydrogen of the SH functional group compared to the hydrogen of the CH 3 group of CH 3 SH. Also, the rate constant calculations indicate that the extraction of the hydrogen atom of the SH group has a major role in 150-3000 K, while a good contribution is observed for the hydrogen of methyl group above 1200 K. Our results show that the used methods lead to good agreement with experiment. Finally, we demonstrated that why the main path is the main path.

The mechanism of S+O₄ (D(₂h)) reaction has been investigated at the B3LYP/6-311+G(3df) and CCSD levels on the singlet potential energy surface. One stable complex has been found for the S+O₄ (D(₂h)) reaction, IN1, on the singlet potential energy surface. For the title reaction, we obtained four kinds of products at the B3LYP level, which have enough thermodynamic stability. The results reveal that the product P3 is spontaneous and exothermic with -188.042 and -179.147 kcal/mol in Gibbs free energy and enthalpy of reaction, respectively. Because P1 adduct is produced after passing two low energy level transition states, kinetically, it is the most favorable adduct in the ¹S+¹O₄ (D(₂h)) atmospheric reactions.

The in situ formed hydrazone Schiff base ligand (E)-N'-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)benzoylhydrazone (H₂L¹) reacts with copper(II) acetate in ethanol in the presence of pyridine-4-carboxylic acid (isonicotinic acid, HL²) to green-[Cu(HL¹)(L²)]·H₂O·C₂H₅OH (1) and brown-[Cu(L¹)(HL²)] (2) complexes which crystallize as concomitant tautomers where either the mono-anion (HL¹)⁻ or di-anion (L¹)²⁻ of the Schiff base and simultaneously the pyridine-carboxylate (L²)⁻ or the acid (HL²) (both through the pyridine nitrogen atom) function as ligands. The square-planar molecular copper(II) complexes differ in only a localized proton position either on the amide nitrogen of the hydrazone Schiff base in 1 or on the carboxyl group of the isonicotin ligand in 2. The proportion of the tautomeric forms in the crystalline solid-state can be controlled over a wide range from 1:2 = 95 : 5 to ∼2 : 98 by increasing the solution concentration. UV/Vis spectral studies show both tautomers to be kinetically stable (inert), that is, with no apparent tautomerization, in acetonitrile solution. The UB3LYP/6-31+G* level optimized structures of the two complexes are in close agreement with experimental findings. The solid-state structures feature 1D hydrogen-bonded chain from charge-assisted O((-))H-N and O-H((-))N hydrogen bonding in 1 and 2, respectively. In 1 pyridine-4-carboxylate also assumes a metal-bridging action by coordinating a weakly bound carboxylate group as a fifth ligand to a Cu axial site. Neighboring chains in 1 and 2 are connected by strong π-stacking interactions involving also the five- and six-membered, presumably metalloaromatic Cu-chelate rings.
