Abstract

A cross section of the process e+e−→KS0K±π∓π+π− has been measured for the first time using a data sample of 185.4 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. With the KS0→π+π− decay detection, 373±20 and 514±28 signal events have been selected with six and five reconstructed tracks, respectively, in the center-of-mass energy range 1.6–2.0 GeV. The total systematic uncertainty of the cross section is about 15%. A study of the production dynamics allows us to extract a contribution from the e+e−→f1(1285)π+π− intermediate state and to measure the corresponding cross section. The intermediate states with the f1(1420) and f1(1510) resonances have been observed.

Abstract

A study of hadron production at the nucleon-antinucleon threshold has been performed with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. The very fast rise with about 1 MeV width has been observed in the e+e−→pp¯ cross section. A sharp drop in the e+e−→3(π+π−) cross section has been confirmed and found to have a less than 2 MeV width, in agreement with the observed fast rise of the e+e−→pp¯ cross section. For the first time a similar sharp drop is demonstrated in the e+e−→K+K−π+π− cross section. The behavior of the e+e−→3(π+π−),K+K−π+π− cross sections cannot be explained by an interference of any resonance amplitude with continuum, therefore this phenomenon cannot be due to a narrow near-threshold resonance. No such structure has been observed in the e+e−→2(π+π−) cross section.

Abstract

The cross section of the process e+e−→3(π+π−)π0 has been measured for the first time using a data sample of 56.7 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. 632±32 signal events have been selected in the center-of-mass energy range 1.6–2.0 GeV. A study of dynamics of seven-pion production allows one to extract contributions of the dominated 2(π+π−)ω and 2(π+π−)η intermediate states.

Abstract

The cross section of the process e+e−→KS0KS0π+π− has been measured using a data sample of 56.7 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. 596±27 and 210±18 signal events have been selected with six and five detected tracks, respectively, in the center-of-mass energy range 1.6–2.0 GeV. The total systematic uncertainty of the cross section is about 10%. The study of the production dynamics confirms the dominance of the K⁎(892)+K⁎(892)− intermediate state.

Abstract

Based on a sample of 300 million KS mesons produced in ϕ→KLKS decays recorded by the KLOE experiment at the DAΦNE e+e− collider we have measured the branching fraction for the decay KS→πμν. The KS mesons are identified by the interaction of KL mesons in the detector. The KS→πμν decays are selected by a boosted decision tree built with kinematic variables and by a time-of-flight measurement. Signal efficiencies are evaluated with data control samples of KL→πμν decays. A fit to the reconstructed muon mass distribution finds 7223±180 signal events. Normalising to the KS→π+π− decay events the result for the branching fraction is B(KS→πμν)=(4.56±0.11stat±0.17syst)×10−4. It is the first measurement of this decay mode and the result allows an independent determination of |Vus| and a test of the lepton-flavour universality. Abstract

We searched for the μ+μ− decay of a light vector gauge boson, also known as dark photon, in the e+e−→μ+μ−γISR process by means of the Initial State Radiation (ISR) method. We used 1.93 fb−1 of data collected by the KLOE experiment at the DAΦNE ϕ-factory. No structures have been observed over the irreducible μ+μ− background. A 90% CL limit on the ratio ε2=α′/α between the dark coupling constant and the fine structure constant of 3×10−6–2×10−7 has been set in the dark photon mass region between 519 MeV and 973 MeV. This new limit has been combined with the published result obtained investigating the hypothesis of the dark photon decaying into hadrons in e+e−→π+π−γISR events. The combined 90% CL limit increases the sensitivity especially in the ρ–ω interference region and excludes ε2 greater than (13−2)×10−7. For dark photon masses greater than 600 MeV the combined limit is lower than 8 ×10−7 resulting more stringent than present constraints from other experiments. Abstract

The process e+e−→K+K− has been studied using 1.7×106 events from a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.7 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector in the center-of-mass energy range 1010–1060 MeV. The cross section is measured with about 2% systematic uncertainty and is used to calculate the contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon aμK+K−=(19.33±0.40)×10−10, and to obtain the ϕ(1020) meson parameters. We consider the relationship between the e+e−→K+K− and e+e−→KS0KL0 cross sections and compare it to the theoretical prediction.

Abstract

The cross section of the process e+e−→π+π−π0η has been measured using a data sample of 21.8 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. 2769±95 signal events have been selected in the center-of-mass energy range 1394–2005 MeV. The production dynamics is dominated by the ω(782)η and ϕ(1020)η intermediate states in the lower energy range, and by the a0(980)ρ(770) intermediate state at higher energies.

Abstract

A cross section of the process e+e−→π+π−π+π− has been measured using 6798±93 signal events from a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.8 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector in the center-of-mass energy range 920–1060 MeV. The measured cross section exhibits a pattern of interference of the ϕ(1020)→π+π−π+π− decay with a non-resonant process e+e−→π+π−π+π−, from which we obtain the branching fraction of the doubly suppressed decays (by G-parity and OZI rule): B(ϕ→π+π−π+π−)=(6.5±2.7±1.6)×10−6.

Abstract

The process e+e−→K+K−η has been studied in the center-of-mass energy range from 1.59 to 2.007 GeV using the data sample of 59.5 pb−1, collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider in 2011, 2012 and 2017. The K+K−η final state is found to be dominated by the contribution of the ϕ(1020)η intermediate state. The cross section of the process e+e−→ϕ(1020)η has been measured with a systematic uncertainty of 5.1% on the base of 3009 ± 67 selected events. Abstract

The e+e−→KS0KL0 cross section has been measured in the center-of-mass energy range 1004–1060 MeV at 25 energy points using 6.1×105 events with KS0→π+π− decay. The analysis is based on 5.9 pb−1 of an integrated luminosity collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. To obtain ϕ(1020) meson parameters the measured cross section is approximated according to the Vector Meson Dominance model as a sum of the ρ,ω,ϕ-like amplitudes and their excitations. This is the most precise measurement of the e+e−→KS0KL0 cross section with a 1.8% systematic uncertainty.

Abstract

Using a data sample of 7.7 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider we select about 2900 events of the process e+e−→pp¯ and measure its cross section at 12 energy points with about 6% systematic uncertainty. From the angular distribution of produced nucleons we obtain the ratio GE/GM.

Abstract

The process e+e−→K+K−π+π− has been studied in the center-of-mass energy range from 1500 to 2000 MeV using a data sample of 23 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. Using about 24 000 selected events, the e+e−→K+K−π+π− cross section has been measured with a systematic uncertainty decreasing from 11.7% at 1500–1600 MeV to 6.1% above 1800 MeV. A preliminary study of K+K−π+π− production dynamics has been performed.

Abstract

In the northern and northeastern Siberian Platform, within the Anabar and Olenek zones, there are a number of hypergene bitumen accumulations (fields) and natural bitumen seeps, whose total resources are estimated at >5 bln tons. Bitumen fields are confined to a wide stratigraphic range from Precambrian to Mesozoic. A detailed geochemical study was performed for bitumens of the largest Olenek field, whose naphthides are localized mainly in Permian sandstones of deltaic and coast-marine genesis. Chromato-mass spectrometric analysis showed that normal alkanes are drastically reduced in the saturated fraction of the bitumens and most of terpanes are a homologous series of 25-norhopanes, which evidences the intense bacterial degradation of hydrocarbon pools. Identification of bicyclic sesquiterpenes, tetracyclic onocerane, and other biomarkers testifies that the organic matter of source rocks was rich in higher-plants remains. The concentrations of steranes are low, whereas those of earlier unknown 8-14-secosteranes are rather high. The set of geochemical data on the Permian bitumens of the Olenek field, including the isotopic characteristics of carbon (δ13C of −25.8 to −31.3‰), suggests that the coeval oil source rocks on the passive continental margin (at the place of the present-day Verkhoyansk fold belt) were the main source of hydrocarbons for the field. Assessment of oil and gas resources, including giant bitumen pools, and their exploration in the framework of “The fundamentals of Russian state policy in Arctic up to 2020” have become a top-priority problem. Petroleum refining products might be economically feasible raw materials in the eastern Russian Arctic sector to be supplied via the Northern Sea Route.

Abstract

No less than 15–20 sedimentary basins are now known on the Antarctic continental landmass and surrounding continental shelves. Reconstruction of their tectonic and stratigraphic evolution is a specialized task. Owing to the polar position of the continent, the Pacific and Atlantic global geostructures are closely spaced there and the interplay between them is strong enough to result in hybridization of the characteristic tectonic features of the various basins. The present morphostructure of the southern polar region of the Earth is characterized by a prominent circumpolar zoning. Therefore, the sedimentary basins form a gigantic ring along the continental margin, including both the shelf proper and the edge of the continent. Within the ring, the basins are associated with different types of margins successively replacing each other, from the Mesozoic magmatic are in the Pacific segment to the classic passive margin off East Antarctica. The formation of the sedimentary basins in the Antarctic segment of the Pacific mobile belt was a part of a single process of geosynclinal development, whereas on the craton flank the process was superposed on the continental structures by rifting during Gondwana fragmentation. During post-break-up tectonism, continental glaciation played an important part in the formation of the sedimentary basins.

Abstract

Tricarbonyliron—diene complexes starting from α- or β-non-saturated alcohols and of various Diels—Alder addition products, viz. 4-vinylcyclohexene and the adduct from the dimethyl ester of acetylene dicarboxylic acid and 1-( N , N -diethylamino)-1,3-butadiene, have been synthesized. Higher yields are obtained when the starting alcohols have no allylic hydrogen atoms. The formation of complexes from non-conjugated dienes is accompanied by shifts of the most reactive double bonds.
