Swimming classes have a positive effect not only on the health level of students, but also increase brain activity, since all processes in the human body are interconnected. In turn, swimming is the kind of motor activity that helps the human body to fully heal itself. In swimming lessons, when performing physical exercises in water, all the main muscle groups are involved in the work, which contributes not only to health and physical development, but also positively affects the development of basic physical qualities, such as strength and endurance, which is reflected in physical education programs of higher education institutions. Today, unfortunately, there is both a low level of health among student youth and a low level of development of physical qualities, which makes it necessary to develop differentiated programs for young men and women, taking into account not only their level of preparation, but also taking into account the deviations and disorders in their condition health in the development of control standards. Swimming, as one of the types of motor activity, is one of the components of a healthy lifestyle. Swimming can be done not only by healthy people, but also by those who have diseases of the musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular or respiratory system, and moderate and heavy physical activity is contraindicated for them, but physical exercises in water are recommended. Therefore, the main task of swimming in ZVO is to improve the functional state of the body by selecting the optimal amount of physical load and the nature of exercises for everyone who engages in it and obtaining the desired health-improving effect.

Value orientations are one of the most important elements of the personality structure, as they concentrate the subjective attitude to the objective levels of human existence, which leads to the direction of his social behavior. Value orientations that express the nature of a person's attitude to various aspects of the material and spiritual world, occupy a significant place in the structure of personality, reflect the level of its development, regulate activities and behavior. Studying the sense of life orientations of 3-4year students, we found that on the scale "Life process or interest and emotional saturation of life" 86,4% of respondents perceive the process of their lives as interesting, emotional and meaningful. According to the scale "Goals in life" 89,2% of respondents have specific goals in life in the future, which give life meaningfulness, direction and time perspective. According to the scale "Performance of life or satisfaction with self-realization", the vast majority of respondents – 80,3% believe that the lived part of his life was productive and meaningful. High scores "Locus of control" Life "or controllability of life" (82,3% of respondents) indicate the confidence of students that a person can control their own lives, freely make decisions, implement them. According to the scale "General indicator of consciousness of life", the majority of subjects – 81,2% (high level) indicate a general high indicator of consciousness of life.

Introduction. Surrogacy is a method of infertility treatment involving the conclusion of an agreement between potential parents, a surrogate mother and a medical institution. Until now, lawyers have not been able to develop a unified approach to forming the regulatory framework for surrogacy. Whether healthcare providers have developed a standard view of this problem is not clear. The purpose is to summarise the medical community representatives’ views on the surrogacy program’s managing issues and their participants’ rights and obligations. Material and methods. The Internet survey was conducted among medical workers of various specialisations from different regions of Russia and among future specialists (students of medical universities and interns). 7504 questionnaire was analysed. The questions concerned the indications for surrogate motherhood, the sources of its funding, the citizenship of the participants in surrogacy and their contractual obligations, the rights of the surrogate mother and the ordering parents. Results. medical specialists assign a pivotal role to the surrogacy program’s legal aspects, despite being implemented using high-tech medical technologies. They give priority rights to a newborn child to the ordering parents. During pregnancy and childbirth, decisions regarding lifestyle, hospitalisation, and delivery methods should be made only in conjunction with specialists from the medical institution that signed the contract. As the level of professional responsibility of medical specialists grows, the share of answers about the inadmissibility of state funding of surrogacy, the implementation of surrogacy programs for foreign citizens and single men and women as genetic donors increases, and the share of answers about the admissibility of altruistic surrogacy decrease. Conclusion. Having decided on the legal issues of managing medical care in surrogacy programs, representatives of the medical community do not consider this type of high-tech medical care a common way to solve the problem of infertility, considering it as an exclusive method of medical care for married couples with infertility of women.

Extensive bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) data have the potential of health monitoring and the assessment of health risks at the population level. The importance of BIA data lies in their availability and abundance for many countries. In Russia, mass BIA data are generated by the national network of health centers (HCs). Our aim was to describe the structure and capabilities of the updated HCs’ BIA database. Upon several requests between 2012 and 2020, 369 HCs representing all Federal districts of Russia and 60 out of 85 Federal subjects in them, submitted raw bioimpedance data which were obtained using the same type of BIA instrument, namely ABC-01 ‘Medas’ (SRC Medas, Russia). After application of strict selection criteria, 2,429,977 BIA measurement records were selected that formed the updated 2010-2019 HCs’ database. Various slices of the BIA data are described according to spatiotemporal, demographic and other characteristics. Reference curves of the bioimpedance phase angle according to age and sex are presented. Limitations and prospects for further work are outlined. We believe that, after appropriate sampling, the database can be utilized to study biological, geographical, social and other associations of the bioimpedance and body composition parameters, for generating updated national references, international comparisons and data standardization.

Background.Comorbidity of diseases deteriorates health and often increases the risk of death. Identification of comorbidities with diseases of the circulatory system (DCS) will help find additional measures to increase life expectancy. Aims to identify causes associated with death from DCS and to analyze their interrelation based on the multiple cause analysis. Materials and methods.Data on DCS deaths of the Death registration in the Moscow Unified Medical Information and Analytical System (RFS-EMIAS) in 2019 (46 000 deaths) and from April to May 2020 (11 000 deaths) excluding perinatal mortality were analyzed. The association analysis was carried out across groups of the ICD-10 DCS blocks by calculating the corresponding frequency. Effect of SARS-CoV-2 was analyzed in the infected deceased and those free from infection. Comparison was carried out by the Chi-square test. Results.The following Diseases of the circulatory system are associated with Diabetes mellitus: Hypertension, Coronary heart disease, Cerebrovascular diseases, and Diseases of arteries, arterioles and capillaries. A synergetic effect has been identified in comorbidity with the diseases characterized by high blood pressure and Chronic rheumatic heart diseases, other forms of heart disease(I30I52), Cerebrovascular diseases and Diseases of arteries, arterioles and capillaries; the latter and Coronary heart disease and Cerebrovascular diseases; other forms of heart disease and Mental disorders due to psychoactive substance use; Diseases of veins, lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes and Pulmonary circulation disorders. Effect of the increased risk of death in non-symmetric associations of causes has been detected for comorbidity of Diseases of veins, lymph vessels and lymph nodes and Chronic viral hepatitis; Coronary heart disease and other forms of heart disease; Hypertension and Coronary heart disease; in males comorbidity of Obesity and Hypertension, and Diseases of arteries, arterioles and capillaries and Hypertension. Associations between DCS and their complications have been identified in females: Diseases of veins, lymph vessels and lymph nodes and Phlegmon, and Cerebrovascular diseases and Decubital ulcers. Conclusion.SARS-CoV-2 increases mortality from Chronic coronary heart disease, ICD-10 I67.8 code for Other specified cerebrovascular diseases and Hypertension in females 1.5-fold. The infection rate in females died from DCS is significantly lower compared to the one in males.

The article considers the manifestation of personal and situational anxiety in first- and third-year students of the Free Economic Zone. Anxiety is considered from two points of view - situational and personal. In the first case, the term is used to describe an unpleasant emotional state associated with feelings of tension, anticipation of unfavorable developments. Otherwise, anxiety is felt as an experience of personal threat, increased sensitivity to failures and mistakes, self-dissatisfaction. Anxiety is a state of anxiety that arises in a person in a situation that poses a certain physical or psychological threat to him. According to S. Freud, the unpleasant state of anxiety is a useful adaptive mechanism that encourages the individual to protective behavior to overcome the danger. Anxiety is a personal limit that reflects a decrease in the threshold of sensitivity to various stress agents. Anxiety is expressed in the constant feeling of threat to one's own "I" in any situation; Anxiety is an individual's tendency to experience anxiety, which is characterized by a low threshold for the occurrence of an anxiety reaction: one of the main parameters of individual differences. 55% of first-year students have a high level of personal anxiety and 45% have a moderate level of personal anxiety. First-year students used to be in the walls of their home school, but now they find themselves in a little-known university building, which also increases anxiety and insecurity. The student, in contrast to the student, is forced to form new styles and strategies of behavior within the walls of the university and forms of assimilation of a large amount of information from different disciplines. 3rd year students have a low level of situational anxiety (36.4%) and a moderate level of personal anxiety (63.6%). In the third year the process of specialization begins, strengthening the interest in scientific work as a reflection of further development and deepening of professional interests of students. The urgent need for specialization often leads to a narrowing of the sphere of diverse interests of the individual and students' reassessment of many values of life and culture. They become more confident in their abilities as students, but may have doubts about their future lives.

The tightly bonded shielding coating on biomatrix significantly enhances the functionality of medical devices, bioprostheses in particular. In our work we have obtained a polyelectrolyte coating on a biomatrix by sequentially depositing chitosan and hyaluronic acid (HA) from solutions in carbonic acid under pressure. This approach makes it possible to obtain hybrid biomatrix with a firmly bonded polymer screen due to the electrostatic bonding of polyions. High-precision analysis using a tritium label shows a 3-fold increase in quantity of HA in carbonic acid under pressure compared to the conventional method. The presence of the chitosan layer increases the HA adsorption by 15-20 % due to electrostatic interaction of differently charged polymers. Antimicrobial results show the possibility of implementing an induced antimicrobial response, due to the lysis of the upper layer of the coating (HA) and the release of antimicrobial agents in the case of growth of pathogens on the bioprosthesis.

Increasing incidence of ischemic diseases and limited resources for their treatment stimulate increased interest in studying the mechanisms of vascularization and finding new approaches for its promotion. One of these approaches is gene therapy aimed at activating the epicardium to produce the vascular precursor cells and microenvironment for the «assembly» of de novo vessels. The aim is to investigate the possibility of activating epicardial cells and post infarction cardiac vascularization by injecting a genetic construct encoding PDGFBB. Material and methods . A model of experimental myocardial infarction in a rat with subsequent intramyocardial injection of normal saline solution, control plasmid and plasmid encoding PDGFBB was used. The study of PDGFBB effect on epicardial cell activity was performed on the ex vivo model, as well as in vitro mesothelial cell culture. Results . Post infarction injection of plasmid encoding PDGFBB increases the density of the vascular network in the peri-infarct area as well as migration of pericytes to the injured zone. PDGFBB promotes activation of epicardial cell pool and expression of smooth muscle cell markers in them (shown on the ex vivo model), as well as stimulates activation of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (in vitro). Conclusion . Intramyocardial injection of a genetic construct encoding PDGFBB after an experimental myocardial infarction stimulated vascularization of the peri-infarction zone, which may have been partially due to the activation of the epicardial cell pool.

The paper presents the evaluation of basic parameters and general appearance of the superconducting magnet ic system of the Gas-Dynamic Multimirror Trap – the next-generation magnetic mirror research facility developed by the Budker Institute of Nuclear physics. The major requirements are that the magnetic field would be ramped up from 0.3 to 3 T within 5 seconds, which implies that a special low AC-loss superconducting cable must be chosen for this part of the magnet system. The mirror coils should have the field ∼12 T with an aperture exceeding typical of large-bore NMR magnets. In accordance with these requirements the optimized magnet system has been evaluated. The system can have modular design and consists of a set of 12 coils with NbTi superconductors and 4 coils made of Nb3Sn superconductor. Preliminary choice of superconducting cables and basic superconductors for the windings has been substantiated. The estimation of stability margins for all coils demonstrated that both NbTi and Nb3Sn coils have enough stability margins, including the operation of NbTi coils at fast changing current. The study demonstrated the feasibility of the optimized superconducting magnet system for the Gas-Dynamic Multimirror Trap with the use of modern low Tc superconductors and state-of-the-art superconducting magnet technologies.

The article examines agro-technical requirements of machine implements with disk working bodies and is aimed to investigate the existing and alternative methods of depth regulation during soil tillage by the mentioned implements. We defined the machines performance indicators significantly affecting the plant potential release not considered previously. The study results were obtained via the soil tilling depth regulation by the disking speed, the change of an incidence angle of the working batteries, and by the use of the additional load mounted on the machine frame. The article presents a two-year research results obtained in 40 different land plots of the Sumy region (Ukraine) using domestic and imported machines, with wheat and buckwheat as crops. To ensure the study accuracy, the methodology was based on the CND 46.16.02.-96. Agricultural Machinery. Quality Indicators Nomenclature (Catalogue of Normative Documents, published in 1997). The research results demonstrate that the tilling depth depends on the manufacturing plant default settings, the speed regime, and the machine load. For the experimental data analysis, the Least Squares Means method was used. The research presents alternative methods of changing the tilling depth applicable for any machine aggregates with disk working bodies, and its results can serve the agricultural machinery designers.

The topic is substantiated by ongoing urgency of COVID-19-related issues and the need to identify risk factors most relevant during crisis periods. The purpose is to evaluate impact of the main risk factors on mortality among the Russian working-age population during stable and crisis periods. The analysis is based on Rosstat mortality data among working-age population in 2011-2021. The study identified individual-related causes (behavioral risk factors), society-related (social risk groups), as well as mixed risks. During pre-crisis period, positive trends were due to decreased mortality from all causes associated with risk factors. During the pandemic, mortality due to all causes associated with risk factors increased across all age/sex groups of the working-age population, with the highest rates of negative shifts registered among males aged 20-39 and females aged 15-29 (5,9 % and 3,1 %, respectively). Increase in mortality was due to causes associated with behavioral risk factors. These negative shifts were accounted for by a multiple increase in drug addiction mortality throughout the pandemic. During the pandemic, deaths associated with social factors decreased due to reduced road traffic mortality against increased mortality from accidental falls and drownings. Significance of individual-related causes was increasing with age with the maximum among older working-age population.

The model coil with the racetrack geometry based on second generation High Temperature Superconducting tapes has been developed for an electrical machine where a winding pack is a stack of 2G HTS tapes. It is important to evaluate transport current AC losses and possible methods to reduce them in a winding. In a device made of 2G HTS tapes, the main the AC losses are the hysteresis ones. Only numerical simulation permits to predict them in full. The FEM model for calculation of the hysteresis losses developed before for 2G HTS power cables was modified for a stack of the 2G HTS tapes in a coil. In this paper the methods to increase a computational speed are presented. Possible ways to reduce AC losses are discussed also. The details of the model and comparisons of calculations with measurements of the AC loss are presented.

The paper describes manufacturing and testing of HTS double racetrack coils intended for use in stator windings of small-size motor, proposed for electric unmanned air vehicle (UAV). The level of AC losses of the armature characterizes required flow of liquid hydrogen (LH) coolant. Thus, it affects overall configuration of the UAV by LH-tank mass and volume. On the other side, motor will be driven by AC motor controller (inverter), so the armature currents will not be pure sinusoidal, and formed by pulse width modulation (PWM). In this work, the manufactured coil is tested on meander-form AC current with frequencies up to 200 Hz with and without solid ferromagnetic core. In addition, losses on PWM currents were also determined on a specific H-bridge to ensure functionality of HTS coils in such conditions.

A laser technology for creating nanocomposites from alternating layers of albumin/collagen proteins with two types of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) at concentrations of 0.001 and 0.01 wt.% was proposed. For this purpose, a setup with a diode laser (810 nm) and feedback system for controlling the temperature of the area affected by the radiation was developed. Raman spectroscopy was used to determine a decrease in the defectiveness of SWCNT with an increase in their concentration in the nanocomposite due to the formation of branched 3D networks with covalent bonds between nanotubes. It was revealed that adhesion of proteins to branched 3D networks from SWCNT occurred. The specific electrical conductivity of nanocomposites based on large SWCNT nanotubes was 3.2 and 4.3 S/m compared to that for nanocomposites based on small SWCNT with the same concentrations—1.1 and 1.8 S/m. An increase in the concentration and size of nanotubes provides higher porosity of nanocomposites. For small SWCNT-based nanocomposites, a significant number of mesopores up to 50 nm in size and the largest specific surface area and specific pore volume were found. Nanocomposites with small SWCNT (0.001 wt.%) provided the best cardiac fibroblast viability. Such technology can be potentially used to create bioelectronic components or scaffolds for heart tissue engineering.

Introduction. Thanks to advances in science and medicine, the threshold age of a patient who can undergo open surgery on the valves of the heart or coronary arteries is increasing every year. Elderly patients constitute a special group in this regard.Aim. Determine how elderly cardiac patients assess their health status and highlight the factors influencing it.Materials and methods. The results of a survey of 107 patients who are in the Department of cardiac rehabilitation of the A. N. Bakulev National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery in 2020-2021 after surgical or endovascular treatment of cardiac pathology. The survey is carried out by a cardiologist using a questionnaire that allows you to characterize the patient's health status on the basis of self-esteem. Statistical data processing was carried out in Microsoft Office Excel 2003 and Statistica v. 6.0 programs.Results. The majority of respondents (63.6%) assessed their state of health as satisfactory. No correlation was found between the state of health and the level of education. On average, the patients had 3.7 ± 1.8 chronic diseases. Obesity was observed in 29.4% of men and 68.8% of women. The body mass index did not correlate with the self-reported health status of the respondents, but it did correlate with the number of accumulated diseases (r = 0.42, t-statistic = 2.58).Conclusions. Recovery of elderly patients after cardiac surgery is progressing rapidly. In women, the recovery process is slower due to the greater number of associated pathologies. Old age is not a direct contraindication for cardiac surgery. When self-assessing their health status, elderly patients do not associate it with risk factors.

The article is devoted to the study of losses in devices based on high-temperature superconductors of the 2nd generation. The complexity of the devices under study increases from a single rack coil to a winding assembled from several coils, and finally to an electric machine operating in generator mode. This is the way to experimentally study the behavior of 2nd generation high temperature superconductor (2G HTS) carrying a transport current in various conditions: self-field, external DC, and AC magnetic field. Attention is also paid to the losses in the winding during its operation from the inverter, which simulates the operating conditions in the motor mode of a propulsion system.

Modern agricultural production is aimed at obtaining the maximum yield when growing crop products. Genetics creates varieties and hybrids that maximize their biological potential in accordance with growing conditions. However, the urgent task is to provide technology, namely the needs of plants in the appropriate phases of growth and development in the shortest possible time. Current developments, including those for agricultural production, have flooded the market for digital technologies and mechanization tools. Effective agroengineering requires a modern base of complex applied research on the effectiveness of using the latest developments in modern production conditions. It should be noted that each development will show different efficiency, namely different quality indicators in different production conditions. The effectiveness of field research using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) XAG XPlanet for four fans was carried out in the Sumy region on the research fields of the Sumy National Agrarian University. The uniqueness of the research was that a method was developed with the involvement of specialists in agroengineering and agronomic fields and specialists in the field of physics to determine the degree of coverage of a sheet with a working solution precisely when it is "crushed" by the UAV blades; the technique of digitalization of markers was used by determining the color of the working solution, taking into account the change in its brightness depending on the time interval from application to research; clipping dark highlights when scanning markers. The studies were carried out at different flight heights: 3, 4 and 5 m above the plant level and taking into account different flight speeds: 6, 8 and 10 m s-1. The corresponding data were due to different plant heights, relief and configuration of the field, the location of the wires of electrical networks. The developed methodology and the conducted field studies made it possible to prepare real recommendations for modern agricultural producers in the direction of the efficiency of using UAV for introducing working solutions and choosing effective operating modes.

The article presents the results of experimental studies of a racetrack 2G HTS winding in the presence of an external constant magnetic field. To create high-performance devices based on 2G HTS tapes, it is very important to know what transport current can be provided by HTS coils. To clarify the level of transport current of HTS coils and make accurate predictions about it, a specialized bench was created for testing straight samples and racetrack coils in the presence of a variable magnetic field. Discrete sensors are used for measuring the field components perpendicular and parallel to the tape. Measurements of losses in the coil at different values of the external magnetic field with an alternating sinusoidal and high-frequency modulated current at several frequencies and amplitudes are performed and discussed.

The use of windings on the basis of high-temperature superconductivity (HTSC) in electrical machines makes it possible to make the machines more efficient due to an essentially higher permissible current load and to make them more compact and lighter, which opens the possibility of constructing fundamentally new systems. However, the operation of HTSC windings with alternating current has not been fully investigated as yet. In particular, the critical parameters of an HTSC coil and a short HTSC sample differ essentially from each other. In addition, during operation of the devices with alternating current, losses occur in them and, in particular, in the superconductor, the correct characteristics of which are necessary for designing the cryogenic system. The article describes the technological process of producing a racetrack type coil made of so-called second-generation (2G) HTSC tape and presents the results of its tests carried out at the liquid nitrogen temperature and with different values of the power supply voltage. Based on the obtained experimental data, the losses in the HTSC coil operating with alternating current have been determined. The obtained study results were used in designing the electric motor for an unmanned aerial vehicle.

A complex investigation of the electrical and magnetic properties of the most abundant magnetic fluids of the type of magnetite in kerosene with oleic acid as a stabilizer has been performed with the aim to establish the generality of the processes of magnetization and polarization of these fluids. The permittivity and magnetic susceptibility of such fluids, which are their most structurally-dependent parameters carrying information on the mechanism of magnetization and polarization of a fluid, were determined.

In the framework of the project where space in a cryostat is strictly limited, the high temperature superconductor (HTS) segments of the current leads have to be placed horizontally and in a scattered magnetic field. We developed the current leads optimization model for such conditions. In this paper, we present the results of optimization for 2000 A HTS current leads, comprised of 2G HTS tapes and able to work in the magnetic field up to 2 T. The optimal parameters of the current leads segments have been determined using a numerical simulation. In order to approach the maximum efficiency, it is necessary to have a very good heat exchange between the current leads and evaporating helium gas. The impact of the external magnetic field on the heat leak from current leads into liquid helium is studied.

Decellularization of biotissues reduces immunogenicity, promotes cell repopulation, and improves the functional parameters of biotissues, in particular reducing calcification. However, it is important to understand the impact of decellularization technologies on the characteristics of donor allografts in comparison with the functional characteristics of conventional cryopreserved implants. In this work, we tested and applied a new hybrid method of decellularization of donor human aorta in a multicomponent system with supercritical carbon dioxide and Tween 80. We compared the histological sections, structure, and mechanical strength properties of the hybrid decellurized aorta with those of the conventional cryopreserved and chemically treated donor aorta. We found that it is possible to completely remove cells and cellular components, preserve the histoarchitecture of the tissue using the hybrid treatment with scCO2/Water/EtOH/Tween 80 multicomponent system, and reorganize the collagen fibrils, which is manifested in the strengthening of the tissue (Δσ=20 ± 5%) and its increased elasticity (Δe = 20 ± 3%).

A common problem of superconducting devices is to survive during a fault with a current overload. At a fault, superconducting device will have strong overheating and burning out is possible. The problem becomes more serious in case if a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) wire has a weak point where the critical current is less than the average over a wire. Such a weak point could be the point of origination of strong overheating within a very localized area. This can lead to burning and destroying of an HTS device. To study this problem, we developed the experimental setup with the spatial resolution 2 mm and the time resolution 1 ms to observe a local temperature/voltage evolution in HTS tapes overloaded by currents. The preliminary experiments were performed to measure local heat/voltage development on 2G HTS tapes with an artificial weak point. Local heat/voltage evolutions have been measured and compared with calculations by our model developed earlier.

Triaxial HTS power cables are the optimal solution for low and medium voltages. This design permits to save expensive HTS conductor and to increase the power density transmitted. They could be used at medium voltages ~10-20 kV for distribution grids. At relatively low voltages (

The Russian Scientific R&D Cable Institute is involved in many projects on R&D high-temperature superconducting (HTS) power cables including those made of modern second generation (2G) HTS wires. Evaluation of ac losses and methods for the reduction of the ac losses are important in the design of the cables. A fine experimental technique has been developed and implemented to measure ac losses in representative cable models with a length of ~5 m. However, only calculation can provide ac loss prediction in cases when it could be difficult to make measurements. Thus, we need a comprehensive simulation model to calculate ac losses. In HTS cables made of 2G wires, the main ac loss is a hysteresis loss, which only numerical simulation can predict for full-size 2G cables. We develop a finite-element method model to solve the electromagnetic problem for the calculation of ac losses. The model takes into account the strong nonlinear resistivity of the HTS materials, the hysteresis behavior of the magnetic substrate, the nonuniformity of critical current density across the tapes of the cable, and the possible ferromagnetism of a substrate. The model also takes into account any geometrical aspect of the 2G HTS cables. The details of the model and comparisons of calculations with our measurements of the ac losses are presented.

Lightweight megawatt-range power cables in electric aircraft propulsion systems will allow reducing fuel consumption by more than a half. Taking into account the low voltage limitations for onboard use, superconductivity providing high current-carrying capacity becomes an enabling technology for this application. In the frame of a preliminary study of an onboard superconducting power distribution grid, we fabricated and tested a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) Roebel cable. The work was done by a consortium of institutions and supported by Airbus Group Innovations. SuperOx provided a 400 A-class 12-mm-wide 2G HTS wire. The team at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology prepared 5.5-mm-wide Roebel strands with a transposition length of 226 mm and assembled the strands into a 6-m-long Roebel cable. The team at the Russian Scientific Research and Development Cable Institute performed characterization of the cable. Short samples of the cable were tested to determine their critical currents, mechanical properties, and stability during thermal cycling. For a 4-m-long section of the cable, we measured the critical current, as well as the transport ac losses at frequencies in the range from 50 to 400 Hz. This paper presents the cable design and test results. The feasibility of using 2G HTS Roebel cables in electric aircraft systems is discussed.
