1. Excess conductivity of HTSC ceramics YBa2Cu3O7–δ with TiO2 impurities

Abstract

In this work, the conductivity of YBa2Cu3O7−δ ceramics doped with Ti was studied. It is shown that the introduction of the TiO2 impurity leads to an increase in the number of effective scattering centers for normal carriers. The excess conductivity of the studied samples in a wide temperature range obeys an exponential temperature dependence, and near Tc it is satisfactorily described by the Aslamazov–Larkin theoretical model. In this case, the addition of Ti leads to a significant expansion of the temperature interval for the existence of excess conductivity in the ab plane.

Abstract

Aim To evaluate clinical practice of primary care physicians with respect of preventing behavioral risk factors in patients as well as objective and subjective factors that influence their motivation for taking preventive measures. Material and methods This study was a cross-sectional survey. The questionnaire was anonymous and included closed questions and multiple-choice questions. Based on the obtained results, prevalence of modifiable risk factors for chronic noninfectious diseases (CNID) was comprehensively evaluated in the survey population. Also, a special quantitative variable was introduced, the Index of Behavioral Risk Factors. that reflected the burden of risk factors. This composite index included the degree of risk factor in a specific respondent, for example, obesity degree, number of cigarettes smoked per day, severity of hypodynamia. Physicians’ knowledge and beliefs about the effect of physical activity (PA) on certain diseases were evaluated. Result 623 physicians (mean age 40 years (31-52), 85.5 % women) participated in the survey. The respondents included general practitioners (7.5%), cardiologists (2.9 %), preventive care physicians (4.8 %), internists (25.4 %), and other specialists (59.4 %). 70.8 % of respondents never smoked, 17.5 % were current smokers. 38.5% (240) of the surveyed had a normal body weight index (BWI); 41.7 % (260) were overweight; 11.6 % (72) had degree 1 obesity; 3.7 % (23) had degree 2 obesity; and 0.8 % had degree 3 obesity. A very low PA level was noticed; most of the surveyed exercised not more than once a week (median, 1 (0-3) time). More than 90 % had behavioral risk factors, low PA and excessive body weight. The physicians with a higher index of behavioral risk factors 50% less frequently checked the body weight of patients (odds ratio (OR), 0.541; 95 % confidence interval (CI): 0.388–0.753, pConclusion Most of the surveyed were aware of the benefits of PA for prevention and treatment of CNID, however, they related the mechanism of this effect only with weight loss. The most frequently mentioned barriers to behavioral risk counseling were uncertainty about whether such counseling was within the physician's professional competence, lack of time, lack of confidence in the provision of advice and the effectiveness of interventions, and lack of patients’ compliance.

Abstract

The neutral current ${e}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}p$ cross section has been measured up to values of Bjorken $x\ensuremath{\cong}1$ with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of $187\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of ${e}^{\ensuremath{-}}p$ and $142\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of ${e}^{+}p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=318\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$. Differential cross sections in $x$ and ${Q}^{2}$, the exchanged boson virtuality, are presented for ${Q}^{2}\ensuremath{\ge}725\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{GeV}}^{2}$. An improved reconstruction method and greatly increased amount of data allows a finer binning in the high-$x$ region of the neutral current cross section and leads to a measurement with much improved precision compared to a similar earlier analysis. The measurements are compared to Standard Model expectations based on a variety of recent parton distribution functions.

Abstract

The photoproduction of isolated photons, both inclusive and together with a jet, has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of $374\, \mathrm{pb}^{-1}$. Differential cross sections are presented in the isolated-photon transverse-energy and pseudorapidity ranges $6 < E_T^��< 15$ GeV and $-0.7 < ��^��< 0.9,$ and for jet transverse-energy and pseudorapidity ranges $4 < E_T^{jet} < 35$ GeV and $-1.5 < ��^{jet} < 1.8,$ for exchanged-photon virtualities $Q^2 < 1$ GeV$^2$. Differential cross sections are also presented for inclusive isolated-photon production as functions of the transverse energy and pseudorapidity of the photon. Abstract

In this extended analysis using the ZEUS detector at HERA, the photoproduction of isolated photons together with a jet is measured for different ranges of the fractional photon energy, $x_��^{\mathrm{meas}}$, contributing to the photon-jet final state. Cross sections are evaluated in the photon transverse-energy and pseudorapidity ranges $6 < E_T^�� < 15$ GeV and $-0.7 < ��^�� < 0.9$, and for jet transverse-energy and pseudorapidity ranges $4 < E_T^{\rm jet} < 35$ GeV and $-1.5 < ��^{\rm jet} < 1.8$, for an integrated luminosity of 374 $\mathrm{pb}^{-1}$. The kinematic observables studied comprise the transverse energy and pseudorapidity of the photon and the jet, the azimuthal difference between them, the fraction of proton energy taking part in the interaction, and the difference between the pseudorapidities of the photon and the jet. Abstract

Invariant inclusive cross-sections for π+-mesons and protons from $$\bar pp$$ reactions at 22.4 GeV/c are presented. The average multiplicity for the production of π+-mesons is 1.92±0.02 and for protons 0.41±0.02. Annihilation spectra have been approximated by using the difference between $$\bar pp$$ and pp data. The resulting distributions have similar gross features as the total $$\bar pp$$ data.

Abstract

The inclusive spectra for ¯pp collisions at 22·4 GeV/c are investigated. The transversal momentum distribution resembles the corresponding one in high energy pp interactions. The cross section in the central region is 28±mb. They *-distribution of secondary particles in the central region indicates a charge asymmetry with the asymmetry parameter having the value 0.15±0·01. The upper limit of the diffraction dissociation of the beam particle is estimated to be $$\left( {3 \cdot 68 \pm \begin{array}{*{20}c} {0 \cdot 45} \\ {0 \cdot 15} \\ \end{array} } \right)$$ mb.

Abstract

Studying the ϱ0-meson production in ¯pp interactions at 22.4 GeV/c and in 4-prong annihilation channels of ¯pp interactions at 5.7 GeV/c, we have observed an essential ϱ0-meson spin alignment. The values of the ϱ00 element of the ϱ0-meson spin density matrix (thez-axis is directed along the normal to the production plane) are equal to 0.08 ± 0.07 and 0.55 ± 0.03, respectively, i.e. the ϱ0-meson spin lies preferably in the production plane. The absence of such an effect in pp interactions at 12 and 24 GeV/c and also the essentially larger ϱ0 production cross section in ¯pp interactions at these energies make it possible to connect the observed ϱ0-meson spin alignment with the annihilation processes. The character of the observed spin alignment is unexpected from the point of view of usual models, e.g. multiperipheral models. This effect could be described by the spontaneous polarization of quarks and antiquarks during the state preceding their recombination into mesons.

Abstract

The inclusive and semi-inclusive production of Δ ++ (1236) is investigated in p p interactions at 22.4 GeV/ c . The Δ ++ cross section is 1.78 ± 0.18 mb in the region of | t p Δ | ⩽ 0.74 (GeV/ c ) 2 . The differential cross section has been studied as a function of transverse and longitudinal variables. Evidence for the one-pion exchange contribution to the Δ ++ inclusive process has been obtained from the decay angular distributions of the Δ ++ .

Inclusive ϱ 0 production has been investigated in p p reactions at 22.4 GeV/ c . The total cross section for ϱ 0 production is 8.1 ± 2.0 mb. The average ϱ 0 's per event is 0.17 ± 0.03. The average transverse momentum, as obtained by extrapolation of a fitted simple exponential to the p T 2 distribution, is 0.52 ± 0.12 GeV/ c . The Feynman x and c.m. rapidity distributions show ϱ 0 to be “centrally” produced.

Abstract

The inclusive spectra for pp collisions at 22.4 GeV/c are investigated. We show that the transverse momentum distributions resemble those in high-energy pp interactions and discuss the influence of annihilation processes on the pT2 distributions. The invariant inclusive cross section for pions in the central region is found to be 28 ± 1 mb. A charge asymmetry is indicated by the y∗ spectrum in the central region, the asymmetry parameter having the value 0.15 ± 0.01. Finally, we estimate the upper limit of the diffraction dissociation of the beam particle to be 3.68−0.15+0.45 mb.

Abstract

We study forward-backward multiplicity correlations in p̄p-interactions at 22.4 GeV/c and discuss multiplicities in a simple two-component picture. When the charged particle multiplicity distribution is divided into even and odd components the probability to produce an odd state is found to be higher than the probability to produce an even state, which may be interpreted to be due to diffraction dissociation. An application of the two-component picture to the forward-backward and to the overall multiplicities is discussed.
