We study the radiative leptonic decays $P\to\ell\nu_\ell\,\ell^{\prime\,+}\ell^{\prime\,-}$, where $P$ is a pseudoscalar meson and $\ell$ and $\ell^\prime$ are charged leptons. In such decays the emitted photon is off-shell and, in addition to the "point-like" contribution in which the virtual photon is emitted either from the lepton or the meson treated as a point-like particle, four structure-dependent (SD) form factors contribute to the amplitude. We present a strategy for the extraction of the SD form factors and implement it in an exploratory lattice computation of the decay rates for the four channels of kaon decays ($\ell,\ell^\prime=e,\mu$). It is the SD form factors which describe the interaction between the virtual photon and the internal hadronic structure of the decaying meson, and in our procedure we separate the SD and point-like contributions to the amplitudes. We demonstrate that the form factors can be extracted with good precision and, in spite of the unphysical quark masses used in our simulation ($m_\pi\simeq 320\,$MeV and $m_K\simeq 530\,$MeV), the results for the decay rates are in reasonable semiquantitative agreement with experimental data (for the channels where these exist). Following this preparatory work, the emphasis of our future work will be on obtaining results at physical quark masses and on the control of the systematic uncertainties associated with discretisation and finite-volume errors., Comment: 30 pages, 47 figures

We present the calculation of the short-distance power corrections to the CP-violation parameter εK coming from dimension-8 operators in the ∆S = 2 effective Hamiltonian. A first estimate of this contribution, obtained for large-Nc and in the chiral limit, was provided in ref. [1]. Here we evaluate and include the $$ \mathcal{O}\left({m}_K^2/{m}_c^2\right) $$ O m K 2 / m c 2 and $$ \mathcal{O}\left({\Lambda}_{\mathrm{QCD}}^2/{m}_c^2\right) $$ O Λ QCD 2 / m c 2 contributions that, a priori, could induce $$ \mathcal{O} $$ O (1) corrections to previous estimates, as mK is numerically of order ΛQCD. Our computation shows that there are several dimension-8 operators besides the one considered before. Their effect on εK, however, accidentally cancels out to a large extent, leaving the final correction at the level of 1%.

We present a non-perturbative calculation of the form factors which contribute to the amplitudes for the radiative decays $P\to \ell \bar \nu_\ell \gamma$, where $P$ is a pseudoscalar meson and $\ell$ is a charged lepton. Together with the non-perturbative determination of the virtual photon corrections to the processes $P\to \ell \bar \nu_\ell$, this will allow accurate predictions to be made at $O(\alpha_{em})$ for leptonic decay rates for pseudoscalar mesons ranging from the pion to the $B$ meson. We are able to separate unambiguously the point-like contribution, the square of which leads to the infrared divergence in the decay rate, from the structure dependent, infrared-safe, terms in the amplitude. The fully non-perturbative, $O(a)$ improved calculation of the inclusive leptonic decay rates will lead to significantly improved precision in the determination of the corresponding Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix elements. Precise predictions for the emission of a hard photon are also very interesting, especially for the decays of heavy $D$ and $B$ mesons for which currently only model-dependent predictions are available to compare with existing experimental data.

We present a novel strategy to renormalize lattice operators in QCD+QED, including first order QED corrections to the non-perturbative evaluation of QCD renormalization constants. Our procedure takes systematically into account the mixed non-factorizable QCD+QED effects which were neglected in previous calculations, thus significantly reducing the systematic uncertainty on renormalization corrections. The procedure is presented here in the RI'-MOM scheme, but it can be applied to other schemes (e.g. RI-SMOM) with appropriate changes. We discuss the application of this strategy to the calculation of the leading isospin breaking corrections to the leptonic decay rates $\Gamma(\pi_{\mu 2})$ and $\Gamma(K_{\mu 2})$, evaluated for the first time on the lattice. The precision in the matching to the $W$-regularization scheme is improved to $\mathcal{O}(\alpha_{em}\alpha_s(M_W))$ with respect to previous calculations. We present a lattice calculation of the Hadronic Vacuum Polarization (HVP) contribution of the strange and charm quarks to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon including leading-order electromagnetic corrections. We employ the gauge configurations generated by the European Twisted Mass Collaboration (ETMC) with $N_f = 2+1+1$ dynamical quarks at three values of the lattice spacing ($a \simeq 0.062, 0.082, 0.089$ fm) with pion masses in the range $M_\pi \simeq 210 - 450$ MeV. The strange and charm quark masses are tuned at their physical values. Neglecting disconnected diagrams and after the extrapolations to the physical pion mass and to the continuum limit we obtain: $a_\mu^s(\alpha_{em}^2) = (53.1 \pm 2.5) \cdot 10^{-10}$, $a_\mu^s(\alpha_{em}^3) = (-0.018 \pm 0.011) \cdot 10^{-10}$ and $a_\mu^c(\alpha_{em}^2) = (14.75 \pm 0.56) \cdot 10^{-10}$, $a_\mu^c(\alpha_{em}^3) = (-0.030 \pm 0.013) \cdot 10^{-10}$ for the strange and charm contributions, respectively., Comment: 34 pages, 10 figures, 5 tables; version to appear in JHEP

New (preliminary) results for the form factors relevant for the semileptonic decays of heavy pseudoscalar to a light vector meson are presented. In particular, we discuss the form factors for D --> K* and B --> rho modes., 4 pages (4 figures), Lattice2002(heavyquark)

Several quantities relevant to phenomenological studies of the mixing of neutral B mesons are computed on the lattice. Our main results are: f_{Bd} sqrt(B_{Bd})=206(28)(7) MeV, f_{Bs} sqrt(B_{Bs})/f_{Bd}sqrt(B_{Bd})=1.16(7). We also obtain the related quantities f_{Bs}sqrt(B{Bs})=237(18)(8) MeV, f_{Bd}= 174(22)(+7-0)(-4-0) MeV, f_{Bs}= 204(15)(+7-0)(+3-0) MeV, f_{Bs}/f_{Bd}=1.17(4)(+0-1), f_{Bd}/f_{Ds}=0.74(5). After combining our results with the experimental world average (Delta m_d), we predict (Delta m_s)=15.8(2.1)(3.3) ps^{-1}. We have also computed the relevant parameters for mixing of neutral D mesons which may be useful in some extensions of the Standard Model. All the quantities were obtained from a quenched simulation with a non-perturbatively improved Clover action at beta=6.2, corresponding to a lattice spacing 1/a=2.7(1) GeV, on a sample of 200 gauge-field configurations. A discussion of the main systematic errors is also presented.

By using suitable Ward identities, we show that it is possible to compute K0-K0bar mixing without subtracting the terms generated by explicit chiral symmetry breaking present in Wilson-like lattice actions. The accuracy in the determination of the amplitudes is of O(a), which is the best one attainable in the absence of improvement.

The physics objectives of SuperB, an asymmetric electron-positron collider with a luminosity above 10^36/cm^2/s are described, together with the conceptual design of a novel low emittance design that achieves this performance with wallplug power comparable to that of the current B Factories, and an upgraded detector capable of doing the physics in the SuperB environment.

We present an accurate lattice QCD computation of the b-quark mass, the B and Bs decay constants, the B-mixing bag-parameters for the full four-fermion operator basis, as well as estimates for \xi and f_{Bq}\sqrt{B_q} extrapolated to the continuum limit and the physical pion mass. We have used Nf = 2 dynamical quark gauge configurations at four values of the lattice spacing generated by ETMC. We present a numerical computation of matrix elements of ?I = 3/2 K ? ?? decays by using Wilson fermions. In order to extrapolate to the physical point we work at unphysical kinematics and we resort to Chiral Perturbation Theory at the next-to-leading order. In particular we explain the case of the electroweak penguins 07,8 which can contribute significantly in the theoretical prediction of sol|??/?. The study is done at ? = 6.0 on a 243 × 64 lattice.

We present the results of a lattice QCD calculation of the pseudoscalar meson decay constants fπ, fK, fD and fDs, performed with Nf = 2 dynamical fermions. The simulation is carried out with the tree-level improved Symanzik gauge action and with the twisted mass fermionic action at maximal twist. We have considered for the final analysis three values of the lattice spacing, a simeq 0.10 fm, 0.09 fm and 0.07 fm, with pion masses down to mπ simeq 270 MeV. Our results for the light meson decay constants are fK = 158.1(2.4) MeV and fK/fπ = 1.210(18). From the latter ratio, by using the experimental determination of Γ(K → μbar nuμ(γ))/Γ(π → μbar nuμ(γ)) and the average value of |Vud| from nuclear beta decays, we obtain |Vus| = 0.2222(34), in good agreement with the determination from semileptonic Kl3 decays and the unitarity constraint. For the D and Ds meson decay constants we obtain fD = 197(9) MeV, fDs = 244(8) MeV and fDs/fD = 1.24(3). Our result for fD is in good agreement with the CLEO experimental measurement. For fDs our determination is smaller than the PDG 2008 experimental average but in agreement with a recent improved measurement by CLEO at the 1.4 σ level., We thank all the members of the ETM Collaboration for fruitful discussions. We present the results of a lattice QCD calculation of the average up-down and strange quark masses and of the light meson pseudoscalar decay constants with Nf=2 dynamical fermions. The simulation is carried out at a single value of the lattice spacing with the twisted mass fermionic action at maximal twist, which guarantees automatic O(a)-improvement of the physical quantities. Quark masses are renormalized by implementing the non-perturbative RI-MOM renormalization procedure. Our results for the light quark masses are m_ud^{msbar}(2 GeV)= 3.85 +- 0.12 +- 0.40 MeV, m_s^{msbar}(2 GeV) = 105 +- 3 +- 9 MeV and m_s/m_ud = 27.3 +- 0.3 +- 1.2. We also obtain fK = 161.7 +- 1.2 +- 3.1 MeV and the ratio fK/fpi=1.227 +- 0.009 +- 0.024. From this ratio, by using the experimental determination of Gamma(K-> mu nu (gamma))/Gamma(pi -> mu nu (gamma)) and the average value of |Vud| from nuclear beta decays, we obtain |Vus|=0.2192(5)(45), in agreement with the determination from Kl3 decays and the unitarity constraint., 20 pages, 5 figures

We combine all the available experimental information on Bs mixing, including the recent tagged analyses of Bs→J/Ψφ by the CDF and DO/ collaborations. We find that the phase of the Bs mixing amplitude deviates about 2.5σ from the Standard Model prediction. While no single Tevatron experiment has a significant evidence yet, all the constraints show a remarkable agreement with the combined result. This is an interesting hint of physics beyond the Standard Model. In particular, this result disfavours New Physics models with Minimal Flavour Violation with the same significance.

Starting from a (new physics independent) tree level determination of rhobar and etabar, we perform the Unitarity Triangle analysis in general extensions of the Standard Model with arbitrary new physics contributions to loop-mediated processes. Using a simple parameterization, we determine the allowed ranges of non-standard contributions to |Delta F|=2 processes. Remarkably, the recent measurements from B factories allow us to determine with good precision the shape of the Unitarity Triangle even in the presence of new physics, and to derive stringent constraints on non-standard contributions to |Delta F|=2 processes. Since the present experimental constraints favour models with Minimal Flavour Violation, we present the determination of the Universal Unitarity Triangle that can be defined in this class of extensions of the Standard Model. Finally, we perform a combined fit of the Unitarity Triangle and of new physics contributions in Minimal Flavour Violation, reaching a sensitivity to a new physics scale of about 5 TeV. We also extrapolate all these analyses into a "year 2010" scenario for experimental and theoretical inputs in the flavour sector. We report our results for the bag-parameter BK obtained from the quenched simulations on the lattice with Wilson fermions at three values of the lattice spacing. We implemented the method by which no subtraction of the mixing with other four-fermion dS=2 operators is needed. Our final result, in terms of the renormalisation group invariant bag-parameter, is BK = 0.96 +/- 0.10., 12 pages, 3 figures [version published in Eur.Phys.J.C]

We present new results for the renormalisation and subtraction constants for the four fermion DeltaF = 2 operators, computed non-perturbatively in the RI-MOM scheme (in the Landau gauge). From our preliminary analysis of the lattice data at beta = 6.45, for the B-0 - B-0,mixing bag-parameter we obtain B-B(RGI) = 1.46(7)(1).

We propose an approach for calculating $K\to\pi\pi$ decays to the next-to-leading order in chiral expansion. A detailed numerical study of this approach is being performed., Comment: 3 pages, 1 figure, lattice 2001, matrixelement

We have computed the form factors for B --> pi and D --> K(pi) semileptonic decays on the lattice by using full non-perturbative O(a) improvement, in the quenched approximation. We present preliminary results for heavy to light transitions of pseudoscalar mesons, induced by the vector and tensor operators. This lattice study is performed in quenched approximation, by using the nonperturbatively improved Wilson action and operators. The results have been obtained by studying the relevant correlation functions at \beta=6.0, on an 18^3 \times 64 lattice, using the {\rm O(a)}-improved fermion action, in the quenched approximation. From the study of the matrix element \langle K^*\vert \bar s \sigma_{\mu\nu} b \vert B\rangle we have obtained the form factor T_1(0) which controls the exclusive decay rate. The results are compared with the recent results from CLEO. We also discuss the compatibility between the scaling laws predicted by the Heavy Quark Effective Theory (HQET) and pole dominance, by studying the mass- and q^2-dependence of the form factors. From our analysis, it appears that the form factors follow a mass behaviour compatible with the predictions of the HQET and that the q^2-dependence of T_2 is weaker than would be predicted by pole dominance. We present results for the kaon $B$-parameter $B_K$ from a sample of $200$ configurations using the Wilson action and $460$ configurations using the SW-Clover action, on a $18^3 \times 64$ lattice at $\beta=6.0$. We compare results obtained by renormalizing the relevant operator with different ``boosted" values of the strong coupling constant $\alpha_s$. In the case of the SW-Clover action, we also use the operator renormalized non-perturbatively. In the Wilson case, we observe a strong dependence of $B_K$ on the prescription adopted for $\alpha_s$, contrary to the results of the Clover case which are almost unaffected by the choice of the coupling. We also find that the matrix element of the operator renormalized non-perturbatively has a better chiral behaviour. This gives us our best estimate of the renormalization group invariant $B$-parameter, $\hat B_K=0.86 \pm 0.15$., Comment: LaTeX, 17 pages, 3 postscript figures uuencoded

We present the results of a high statistics lattice calculation of hadronic form factors relevant for $D-$ and $B-$meson semi-leptonic decays into light pseudoscalar and vector mesons. The results have been obtained by averaging over 170 gauge field configurations, generated in the quenched approximation, at $\beta=6.0$, on a $18^3 \times 64$ lattice, using the $O(a)$-improved SW-Clover action.From the study of the matrix element $$, we obtain $f_+ (0)=0.78\pm 0.08$ and from the matrix element $$ we obtain $V(0)=1.08\pm 0.22$, $A_1(0)=0.67\pm 0.11$ and $A_2(0)=0.49\pm 0.34$. We also obtain the ratios $V(0)/A_1(0)=1.6\pm 0.3$ and $A_2(0)/A_1(0)= 0.7\pm 0.4$. Our predictions for the different form factors are in good agreement with the experimental data, although, in the case of $A_2(0)$, the errors are still too large to draw any firm conclusion. With the help of the Heavy Quark Effective Theory (HQET) we have also extrapolated the lattice results to $B$-meson decays. The form factors follow a behaviour compatible with the HQET predictions. Our results are in agreement with a previous lattice calculation, performed at $\beta=6.4$, using the standard Wilson action., Comment: LaTeX, 15 pages, postscript figures attached uuencoded

We present the results of a numerical calculation of semi-leptonic form factors relevant for heavy flavour meson decays into light mesons, at $\beta=6.4$ on a $24^3 \times 60$ lattice, using the Wilson action in the quenched approximation. We obtain $f^+_K(0)=0.65\pm 0.18$, $V(0)=0.95\pm 0.34$, $A_1(0)=0.63\pm 0.14 $ and $A_2(0)=0.45\pm 0.33 $. We also obtain $A_1(q^2_{max})=0.62\pm 0.09$, $V(0)/A_1(0)=1.5\pm 0.28 $ and $A_2(0)/A_1(0)=0.7\pm 0.4$. The results for $f^+_K(0)$, $V(0)$ and $A_1(0)$ are consistent with the experimental data and with previous lattice determinations with larger lattice spacings. In the case of $A_2(0)$ the errors are too large to draw any firm conclusion. We have also extrapolated the form factors to the B meson, showing a behaviour compatible with the predictions by the heavy quark effective theory (HQET). Within large uncertainties, our results suggest that $A_2/A_1$ increases with the heavy quark mass. We also get very rough estimates for the partial decay widths $B \rightarrow \pi l \nu_l)=\vert V_{ub} \vert^2 (12 \pm 8) 10^{12} s^{-1}$ and $\Gamma(B \rightarrow \rho l \nu_l)=\vert V_{ub} \vert^2 (13 \pm12) 10^{12} s^{-1}$, which can be used to give upper bounds on the rates, Comment: 21 pages, LaTeX

We present a lattice study of electromagnetic decays of vector mesons V into pseudoscalar mesons P, relevant to radiative decays V->Pγ and conversion decays V->Pl^+l^-. The form factor f_q(q^2), associated with the electromagnetic current of the quark q, has been computed using Wilson fermions in the quenched approximation.

We present a precise lattice computation of masses and decay constants of pseudoscalar and vector heavy-light mesons with m ℓ = m u/d, m s and m h in the range (m c, ∼ 3m c). We employ the ETMC gauge configurations with both N f = 2 and N f = 2 + 1 + 1 dynamical quarks and the ETMC ratio method to reach the b-quark mass. In the case of the vector decay constants an unusual quenching effect of the strange quark is observed. Specific masses combinations are then analyzed in terms of the Heavy Quark Expansion (HQE) to extract matrix elements up to dimension-6, including , and and with a good precision. These parameters play a crucial role in the inclusive determination of the V ub and V cb matrix elements.

The precision of lattice QCD computations of many quantities has reached such a precision that isospin-breaking corrections, including electromagnetism, must be included if further progress is to be made in extracting fundamental information, such as the values of Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements, from experimental measurements. We discuss the framework for including radiative corrections in leptonic and semileptonic decays of hadrons, including the treatment of infrared divergences. We briefly review isospin breaking in leptonic decays and present the first numerical results for the ratio $\Gamma(K_{\mu2})/\Gamma(\pi_{\mu2})$ in which these corrections have been included. We also discuss the additional theoretical issues which arise when including electromagnetic corrections to semileptonic decays, such as $K_{\ell3}$ decays. The separate definition of strong isospin-breaking effects and those due to electromagnetism requires a convention. We define and advocate conventions based on hadronic schemes, in which a chosen set of hadronic quantities, hadronic masses for example, are set equal in QCD and in QCD+QED. We present a preliminary study toward a lattice determination of the vector and scalar form factors of the B -> pi l nu semileptonic decays. We compute the form factors relative to the transition between heavy-light pseudoscalar mesons, with masses above the physical D-mass, and the pion. We simulate heavy-quark masses in the range mc^phys < mh < 2 mc^phys. Lorentz symmetry breaking due to hypercubic effects is clearly observed in the data, and included in the decomposition of the current matrix elements in terms of additional form factors. We discuss the size of this breaking as the parent-meson mass increases. Our analysis is based on the gauge configurations produced by the European Twisted Mass Collaboration with Nf = 2+1+1 flavors of dynamical quarks at three different values of the lattice spacing and with pion masses as small as 210 MeV.

We present a preliminary lattice calculation of the $D \to \pi$ and $D \to K$ tensor form factors $f_T(q^2)$ as a function of the squared 4-momentum transfer $q^2$. ETMC recently computed the vector and scalar form factors $f_+(q^2)$ and $f_0(q^2)$ describing $D \to \pi(K) \ell \nu$ semileptonic decays analyzing the vector current and the scalar density. The study of the weak tensor current, which is directly related to the tensor form factor, completes the set of hadronic matrix element regulating the transition between these two pseudoscalar mesons within and beyond the Standard Model where a non-zero tensor coupling is possible. Our analysis is based on the gauge configurations produced by the European Twisted Mass Collaboration with $N_f = 2 + 1 + 1$ flavors of dynamical quarks. We simulated at three different values of the lattice spacing and with pion masses as small as 210 MeV and with the valence heavy quark in the mass range from $\simeq 0.7\, m_c$ to $\simeq 1.2\, m_c$. The matrix element of the tensor current are determined for a plethora of kinematical conditions in which parent and child mesons are either moving or at rest. As for the vector and scalar form factors, Lorentz symmetry breaking due to hypercubic effects is clearly observed in the data. We present here the update of the Unitarity Triangle (UT) analysis performed by the UTfit Collaboration within the Standard Model (SM) and beyond. Continuously updated flavour results contribute to improving the precision of several constraints and through the global fit of the CKM parameters and the SM predictions. We also extend the UT analysis to investigate new physics (NP) effects on $\Delta F=2$ processes. Finally, based on the NP constraints, we derive upper bounds on the coefficients of the most general $\Delta F=2$ effective Hamiltonian. We present a study of the isospin-breaking (IB) corrections to pseudoscalar (PS) meson masses using the gauge configurations produced by the ETM Collaboration with $N_f=2+1+1$ dynamical quarks at three lattice spacings varying from 0.089 to 0.062 fm. Our method is based on a combined expansion of the path integral in powers of the small parameters $(\widehat{m}_d - \widehat{m}_u)/\Lambda_{QCD}$ and $\alpha_{em}$, where $\widehat{m}_f$ is the renormalized quark mass and $\alpha_{em}$ the renormalized fine structure constant. We present a lattice calculation of the Hadronic Vacuum Polarization (HVP) contribution of the strange and charm quarks to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon including leading-order electromagnetic (e.m.) corrections. We employ the gauge configurations generated by the European Twisted Mass Collaboration (ETMC) with $N_f = 2+1+1$ dynamical quarks at three values of the lattice spacing ($a \simeq 0.062, 0.082, 0.089$ fm) with pion masses in the range $M_\pi \simeq 210 - 450$ MeV. The strange and charm quark masses are tuned at their physical values. Neglecting disconnected diagrams and after the extrapolations to the physical pion mass and to the continuum limit we obtain: $a_\mu^s(\alpha_{em}^2) = (53.1 \pm 2.5) \cdot 10^{-10}$, $a_\mu^s(\alpha_{em}^3) = (-0.018 \pm 0.011) \cdot 10^{-10}$ and $a_\mu^c(\alpha_{em}^2) = (14.75 \pm 0.56) \cdot 10^{-10}$, $a_\mu^c(\alpha_{em}^3) = (-0.030 \pm 0.013) \cdot 10^{-10}$ for the strange and charm contributions, respectively., Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures, talk delivered at the XXXV Int'l Symposium on Lattice Field Theory (LAT17), Granada (Spain), June 18-24, 2017

Electromagnetic effects in the leptonic decay rates $\pi^+ \to \mu^+ \nu$ and $K^+ \to \mu^+ \nu$ are evaluated for the first time on the lattice. Following a method recently proposed in Ref. [1] the emission of virtual photons at leading order in the electromagnetic coupling is evaluated on the lattice and the infrared divergence computed for a point-like meson at finite lattice volume is subtracted. The physical decay rate is then obtained by adding the emission of real and virtual photons regularised with a photon mass. Using the gauge ensembles produced by the European Twisted Mass Collaboration with $N_f = 2 + 1 + 1$ dynamical quarks the feasibility of our approach is demonstrated. We present precision lattice calculations of the pseudoscalar decay constants of the charmed sector as well as determinations of the bottom quark mass and its ratio to the charm quark mass. We employ Nf=2+1+1 dynamical quark gauge configurations generated by the European Twisted Mass Collaboration, using data at three values of the lattice spacing and pion masses as low as 210 MeV. We simulated at three different values of the lattice spacing and with pion masses as small as 210 MeV. Quark momenta are injected on the lattice using non-periodic boundary conditions. The matrix elements of both vector and scalar currents are determined for a plenty of kinematical conditions in which parent and child mesons are either moving or at rest. Lorentz symmetry breaking due to hypercubic effects is clearly observed in the data and included in the decomposition of the current matrix elements in terms of additional form factors. Our preliminary estimate for the vector form factor at zero 4-momentum transfer is f_+(D -> pi)(0) = 0.631(40), which can be compared with the latest FLAG average f_+(D -> pi)(0) = 0.666 (29) available only at N_f = 2 + 1.

In Carrasco et al. we have recently proposed a method to calculate $O(e^2)$ electromagnetic corrections to leptonic decay widths of pseudoscalar mesons. The method is based on the observation that the infrared divergent contributions (that appear at intermediate stages of the calculation and that cancel in physical quantities thanks to the Bloch-Nordsieck mechanism) are universal, i.e. depend on the charge and the mass of the meson but not on its internal structure. In this talk we perform a detailed analysis of the finite-volume effects associated with our method. In particular we show that also the leading $1/L$ finite-volume effects are universal and perform an analytical calculation of the finite-volume leptonic decay rate for a point-like meson., Comment: Corrected a typo affecting the 1/L^3 term. The typo has been discovered from the authors of arXiv:2109.05002

We present a lattice QCD determination of the vector form factor of the kaon semileptonic decay K -> pi l nu which is relevant for the extraction of the CKM matrix element |V_{us}| from experimental data. Our result is based on the gauge configurations produced by the European Twisted Mass Collaboration with N_f=2+1+1 dynamical fermions. We simulated at three different values of the lattice spacing and with pion masses as small as 210 MeV. Our preliminary estimate for the vector form factor at zero momentum transfer is f_+(0)=0.9683(65), where the uncertainty is both statistical and systematic. By combining our result with the experimental value of f_+(0)|V_{us}| we obtain |V_{us}|=0.2234(16), which satisfies the unitarity constraint of the Standard Model at the permille level.
