The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the impact of including a student who uses a wheelchair and is given no direct support in a 4* grade general physical education (GPE) class on students without disabilities. Using an evaluate case study research method, data were collected in the beginning and end of a 2-week GPE Volleyball unit from 2 intact elementary school classes using 2 attitude inventories, Volleyball skills, and knowledge test. Results indicated no significant class difference in Volleyball skill and knowledge acquisitions. Overall, attitudes toward including a student with a disability tended to be positive in both classes. The purpose was to provide validity evidence for an attitude survey that will predict the intention of Czech prospective teachers to include students with physical disabilities in general physical education (GPE). Based on the theory of planned behavior (Ajzen, 1991, 2000), the Czech Attitude Toward Teaching Individuals with Physical Disabilities in Physical Education (ATIPDPE) contained statements of intention and of behavioral, normative, and control beliefs. Attitude was inferred from behavioral beliefs. Content validity evidence was established by experts in two countries and by pilot studies utilizing 96 university students to elicit accessible beliefs and intentions. Construct validity evidence was derived from data collected from 145 GPE and 47 adapted PE prospective teachers enrolled in three universities in the Czech Republic. Bivariate correlations, hierarchical regression analysis, and ANOVA examination of known group difference provided good validity evidence for the ATIPDPE. Alpha coefficients ranged from .71 to .94. Background: Children with intellectual disabilities usually show impairments in executive functions. Most of the studies with children of typical development have shown positive influence of physical activity and exercise on executive functioning. Therefore, objective of the study was to examine relationship between physical activity and executive functions among children with mild and moderate intellectual disability, and to expand the body of knowledge on EF among children with ID. Methods: One hundred and four children (62 boys and 42 girls) with intellectual disability from 7 to 18 years of age took part in the study. There were 49 children with mild and 55 with moderate intellectual disability. For assessment of executive functions, the authors used Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Functions (BRIEF) - teacher version that was completed by 15 special education teachers of children participating in the study. Physical Activity in terms of light, moderate, vigorous and moderate to vigorous physical activity was assessed with GT3X Actigraph accelerometer during 7 consecutive days. Results: Moderate and moderate to vigorous physical activity are significant predictors of initiate, working memory and plan/organize scales and metacognition index. In addition, age contributed to shift and metacognition index, gender to working memory and organization of materials, while level of intellectual disability was significant predictor of all BRIEF scales. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between physical activity and executive functions for specific components of these two domains. Future research may focus on determining appropriate physical activity and exercise intervention that would influence development of executive functions among children with intellectual disability.
