Cotton fiber, which is the most widely used natural fiber in the textile and paper industries, has a crucial environmental impact. Cultivation of conventional cotton consumes a lot of water and requires the usage of a higher amount of pesticides. Organic cotton is a more environmentally friendly alternative to its growing conditions. The characteristics of cotton change with the differences in growing conditions. In this study, the properties of yarns obtained from both conventionally and organically grown cotton were tested and analyzed. The properties of these yarns in the fabric structure were compared in terms of fabric performance. The produced fabrics were dyed in the cold-pad batch method with 5 different colors of reactive dyes, which are the most demanding colors in the ready-made garment industry. The physical properties and the fastness test results of the dyed organic and conventional cotton fabrics were investigated in detail to highlight the plant growing effects on the fabric behavior. Comparative color analysis and evaluation of the fabrics were made to discuss the performance of the fabrics. It is found that organically grown cotton is not only superior in quality but also has no negative eff ECT on fabric properties.

As the demand for energy and raw material is increasing everyday, so the challenge of finding sustainable and environment friendly alternatives are becoming very crucial and challenging for the textile industry. Sustainability is one of the most required characteristics in textile production and consumption. As a result, regenerated cellulose fibers have become very popular for their identical properties to cotton, conforming to the sustainability goals of this sector. Production of regenerated cellulose fiber known as Ecocell the trend of sustainability is getting promoted. The aim of this study is to evaluate the performance and dyeing properties of Ecocell in woven fabrics. In order to evaluate the viability, six different fabrics with different construction was weaved and dyed and subjected to several testing. The results indicate that the successful development of Ecocell can be a sustainable and eco-friendly replacement to the imported fibers. By enhancing our country's self-sufficiency in regenerated cellulose fiber production, the textile industry is taking a crucial step towards greater eco-consciousness and sustainability. This study not only contributes to the academic understanding of regenerated cellulose fibers but also holds practical implications for the industry's green transformation.

Evidence must be presented neatly and with care to solve forensic cases because the ability to resolve legal cases depends only on the availability of appropriate evidence. Evidence is used to uncover connections between the victim, the place and time of the incident, and the perpetrator in order to resolve the incident. One of the most important types of evidence examined in forensic investigations is textile materials. Because everyone who commits a crime or is a victim of crime is in contact with textile surfaces. Textile products such as clothing, furniture, knife marks on fabric, blood on car upholstery, vehicle upholstery found at the crime scene can be used as evidence to help solve the crime. During forensic examination, fibers can be classified according to certain criteria such as colour, shape, surface texture, thickness, fluorescent properties, and chemical composition. As a result of examining these classifications, the case can be clarified as quickly as possible. Otherwise, finding the perpetrator may become more difficult as time goes on.

Seersucker fabric design features a new combination of fabric structures that can also be used in various yarns based on sustainable fibers. Such fabric structures attract attention mainly due to their comfort properties, as well as easy-care clothing. One of the most commonly used regenerated fibers is Tencel, which is also known as lyocell fiber. Tencel is produced by using eucalyptus trees. Tencel has a number of applications, such as denim fabrics, pants, t-shirts, silky underwear, etc. It is also important to note that Tencel fiber-based new design approaches based on Tencel fibers are gaining attention in the context of circular design thinking. In this study, the effect of the same blend ratio of Tencel on different puckering surface designs was used, and the key properties of the designed fabrics were tested and analyzed. The principal objective is to apply the properties of Tencel fibers to improve the structural comfort of seersucker fabrics. The manufacturing process of the designed fabrics was optimized after the initial tests with the settings of the loom and the number of warp and weft threads. After 30 different process combinations, 6 different fabrics were selected for production. The structural properties of the 6 different patterns were successfully standardized and their structural properties were examined.

With the development of recent technologies, novel design strategies possibilities increase day by day. 3D printing technologies, which are also known as the additive manufacturing, are announced as the technology of today as well as the future. The aim of this study is to review current literature in terms of the types of 3D printers, the raw materials, the manufacturing processes, and design examples. It is also aimed to highlight some of the well-known brands and designers in the fashion industry which employed the 3D printers to develop their fashionable structures. The main advantage of the 3D printing technologies is to ease of the creating own design without needing help. Everyone can now be their own designer and manufacturer with this technology, thanks to 3D printers, and in a few hours, they can produce the product anywhere within the preferred color and model.

Natural fibres are green materials and have some advantages i.e. are renewable, reasonably cheap, biodegradable and ecologically freindly. Conversely, composites made of natural fibers can be used as a reinforcement material either long or short forms or recycled fibres. In the production of this NFC materials are made from a combination of natural fibers and polymeric matrice. In this study, thermoplastic-based polypropylene chips composites were produced by making use of pumice stone with different grain structures and chicken feather as reinforcement. In the composite production process hot-pressing machine was used to develop novel composites. Prior to the production process, the pumice stones were determined in the sizes of 0-1mm, 1-2mm and 2-3mm by passing them through a regular sieve. Later, chicken feathers with 0-1 mm granule structure were chopped in a blender and mixed with pumice stones separately. These mixtures were sewn in between polypropylene nonwoven fabrics. The composite plates were obtained by placing polypropylene chips on top and bottom of the sewn fabric. The samples for thermal conductivity tests were cut with a diameter of 28 mm from these plates. And heat conductivities of these samples were tested on the P.A. HILTON LTD. H940. By reinforcement materials such as chicken feather and pumice stone, it is aimed to improve the heat conductivity properties of the produced composites. Overall results showed that an increas in particle size of pumice stone has negative effect on the thermal conductivity of natural fiber composites.

Background and Objectives: A coaxial electrospinning technique was used to produce core/shell nanofibers of a polylactic acid (PLA) as a shell and a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) containing metformin hydrochloride (MH) as a core. Materials and Methods: Fish sarcoplasmic protein (FSP) was extracted from fresh bonito and incorporated into nanofiber at various concentrations to investigate the influence on properties of the coaxial nanofibers. The morphology, chemical structure and thermal properties of the nanofibers were studied. Results: The results show that uniform and bead-free structured nanofibers with diameters ranging from 621 nm to 681 nm were obtained. A differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis shows that FSP had a reducing effect on the crystallinity of the nanofibers. Furthermore, the drug release profile of electrospun fibers was analyzed using the spectrophotometric method. Conclusions: The nanofibers showed prolonged and sustained release and the first order kinetic seems to be more suitable to describe the release. MTT assay suggests that the produced drug and protein loaded coaxial nanofibers are non-toxic and enhance cell attachment. Thus, these results demonstrate that the produced nanofibers had the potential to be used for diabetic wound healing applications.

This study presents an innovative approach to designing a shoe insole with enhanced durability, sustainability, and antibacterial properties. Needle-punched non-woven recycled polyester fabrics with three different GSMs (100, 200, and 300) were developed. The composite shoe insole was developed using non-woven fabric laminated with a polyurethane sheet to enhance durability. The fabrics were treated with an antibacterial finish with three different concentrations (5%, 10%, and 15%) and subjected to 5 and 10 washing cycles. The developed composites were evaluated against their relative hand value, abrasion resistance, tensile strength, antibacterial activity, and overall moisture management capability. Overall results reveal that the developed composite shoe insole is durable, sustainable, and presents no bacterial growth, demonstrating the insole's hygienic effectiveness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Historically, cotton has been regarded as a highly sustainable material; however, thorough research indicates otherwise. The increasing levels of pollution and the need to address climate change have led towards a global search for sustainable alternatives. Plants with comparable chemical compositions, such as hemp, are attracting growing attention. The cultivation of hemp can be done with sustainable methods, thereby making it a viable alternative to cotton. This study investigates the mechanical, physical, and dyeing properties of 100% wet-spun hemp yarn in its natural and bleached state with the objective of incorporating its use in both technical and traditional textiles. Although significant academic literature is available on the properties of cotton, there is a noticeable lack of literature based on wet-spun hemp. This research suggests that the bleaching process positively affects wet-spun hemp yarn, thus making it suitable for use by the textile industries in various applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study focuses on two different kinds of cork leathers that are environment friendly and represent as an important sustainable alternative to leather. The general properties of cork leather have been investigated in this study to highlight their potential use as coated-textile structures. The potential use of cork fabrics as technical textiles is also discussed to promote the use of technical textiles, such as buildtech and automotive textiles. The sound absorption and thermal properties of the cork structures are tested and compared with those of reference lamb leather. It is found that the developed cork-based structures have promising mechanical, thermal, and sound absorption properties for further application. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Flexible strain sensitive electrospun fibrous layers have attracted widespread attention of researchers owing to their large surface area and exceptional flexibility. Herein, a detailed research on the impact of electrospinning parameters on the morphological and electromechanical properties of electrospun multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)/thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) nanofibers is conducted. Besides the MWCNTs concentrations, electrospinning parameters have a significant effect on the morphology, electromechanical and sensory properties of electrospun MWCNTs/TPU nanofibrous membrane. Results show that at lower collector speeds, tip to collector distances, and higher electrospinning time lead to the formation of more homogeneously dispersed fibrous structures, which result in enhanced conductivity and strain sensitivity. Consequently, from the repeatability tests, all samples show quite similar linear responses under strain, indicating a highly repeatable fabrication process. Obtained results can help to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of controlling the electrospinning parameters, especially in the production of flexible strain sensors. Polylactic acid (PLA) polymer and wool oil (lanolin) have been used to develop nanostructures for wound dressing management. Lanolin has been extracted from raw wool surfaces and used as a by-product in wide range of pharmaceutical areas. Different solutions with varying concentration of the PLA/lanolin and sodium alginate/lanolin solutions have been prepared and then nanostructures are developed using electrospinning method. The developed structures are aimed to use as smart wound dressings. During the production stage, the parameters of the electrospinning process have been changed to develop the optimum structures. The effect of solution concentrations on the applied voltage and the distance between the pipette tip and the collector is highlighted. The spinnability of lanolin is the main objectives of this study and the PLA/lanolin nanostructures are designed and manufactured successfully. The essential test methods have been performed to measure the usability of the produced materials as wound dressings. These are liquid absorption capacity, horizontal/vertical wicking, SEM, degradation, pH, antibacterial assay, and tensile properties. From the tested parameters, it is obviously found that the use of PLA/lanolin as wound dressing is suitable according to initial in vitro test results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
