The purpose of this study is to improve a scale for using the measurement of self-efficacy on map reading of Social Studies teacher candidates. In the scale improvement study, forming items used in scale, receiving opinion from experts, pretesting of scale, calculation of availability and reliability, last forming of scale steps are followed in sequence. Factor analysis are referred to prove construct validity of improved scale and to determine factor structure of scale. For all scale and each factor of the scale, Cronbach Alpha coefficient of internal consistency and total item correlation are calculated. Factor analysis are referred to investigate construct validity of scale of map reading self-efficacy. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) are applied to identify factor variable. Within the scope of this study, likert type scale is improved to determine the level of map reading self-efficacy of Social Studies teacher candidates and results about availability and reliability of the scale are included. The results show that the scale has suitable qualifications for determination of map reading self-efficacy level of Social Studies teacher candidates., Bu çalışmanın amacı sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni adaylarının, harita okuma ile ilgili özyeterliklerini ölçmede kullanılabilecek bir ölçek geliştirmektir. Ölçek geliştirme çalışmamızda sırasıyla, ölçekte kullanılacak maddelerin oluşturulması, uzman görüşlerinin alınması, ölçeğin ön denemesinin yapılması, geçerlilik ve güvenirlik hesaplamasının yapılması, ölçeğe son şeklinin verilmesi aşamaları takip edilmiştir. Geliştirilen ölçeğin yapı geçerliliğini kanıtlamak ve ölçeğin faktör yapısının tespitine yönelik faktör analizine başvurulmuştur. Ölçeğin güvenirliğini kanıtlamak amacıyla da ölçeğin tamamı ve her bir faktörü için Cronbach Alpha iç tutarlılık katsayısı ve madde toplam korelasyonları hesaplanmıştır. Harita okuma özyeterlik ölçeğinin yapı geçerliliğinin incelenmesinde faktör analizine başvurulmuştur. Faktör Değişkeninin Belirlenmesinde ise, açımlayıcı faktör analizi (AFA) ve Doğrulayıcı Faktör Analizi (DFA) uygulanmıştır. Bu çalışma kapsamında sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının harita okuma özyeterlik düzeylerini belirlemeye yönelik likert tipi bir ölçek geliştirilmiş ve ölçeğin geçerlilik ve güvenilirliğine ilişkin bulgulara yer verilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının harita okuma özyeterlik düzeylerini belirlemede ölçeğin uygun niteliklere sahip olduğunu göstermektedir.

9. Ihlara Vadisi'ni Ziyaret Eden Turistlerin Yerel Halkın Turizme Katılımına İlişkin Görüşleri

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Ihlara Vadisi’ni ziyaret eden turistlerin bu bölgedeki yerel halkın turizm faaliyetlerine katılımına ilişkin görüşlerini değerlendirmektir. Ihlara Vadisi, Hasan Dağı volkanizması ile şekillenen fosil peyzajın Hıristiyanlığın ilk dönemlerinden itibaren oyularak barınma ve ibadet amaçlı kullanıldığı kültürel peyzaj değerleri bakımından zengin bir bölgedir. Bölge yılda yaklaşık 200.000 kişi tarafından ziyaret edilmekte ancak vadinin turistlere Kapadokya turlarının sadece birkaç saatlik kısmında sunulması sebebiyle yerel halk turizm faaliyetlerine katılamamaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında, 2011 yılı Nisan-Mayıs aylarında Ihlara Vadisi’ni ziyaret eden, 315 yerli 268 yabancı olmak üzere toplam 583 kişiye anket uygulanmıştır. Turistlerin görüşleri üzerinde etkili değişkenleri belirlemek amacıyla yerel halkın turizme katılımına ilişkin tutum düzeyleri, uyruk, cinsiyet, yaş grubu, eğitim düzeyi, medeni durum, meslek, gelir durumu, alanı ziyaretinin organizasyon tipi ve konaklama durumu bağımsız değişkenleri ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Karşılaştırmalarda, t testi ve tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) kullanılmıştır. Analiz sonuçlarına göre; turistlerin yerel halkın turizme katılımına ilişkin tutumları olumlu düzeydedir ( =16.80/20.00). Bunun yanında, turistlerin tutumları uyruk (t=-.663; p>.05), yaş grubu (F=2.062; p>.05), eğitim düzeyi (F=1.539; p>.05), medeni durum (t=-.850; p>.05), meslek (F=.690; p>.05), gelir durumu (F=.974; p>.05), alanı ziyaretinin organizasyon tipi (F=2.112; p>.05) ve konaklama durumu (t=-.657; p>.05) bağımsız değişkenlerine göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemektedir. Cinsiyet değişkenine göre yapılan değerlendirmede ise, bayan turistlerin tutum puanları ( =17.09) erkek turistlerin puanlarından ( =16.49), bayan turistlerin lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde yüksek bulunmuştur (t=-2.641; p

The study group consists of 25 pre-service teachers from 15 different universities participating in the project entitled "Nature Education Project in Ihlara Valley (Aksaray) and Its Surrounding". The project was supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). In the study, the participating students were asked to write learning diaries daily throughout the ten-day project about their daily activities. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the students' diaries. In light of the findings of the study, it was found that dairies are effective tools in the evaluation process of the nature education. It is suggested that the students should be encouraged to write learning diaries throughout their nature education.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the project "Nature Education in Ihlara Valley (Aksaray) and Its Surrounding Area" supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) on environmental consciousness, attitudes, thought, behavior and its permanence. The study group consists of 25 teacher candidates who participated in this nature education project carried out on 03-12 July 2009. This project is the first project having teacher candidates as its target group and supported by TUBITAK. "Environmental Consciousness Scale" developed by Milfont and Duckitt (2006) and translated into Turkish by Ak (2008) and "Environmental Attitude Scale" developed by Uzun and Saglam (2006) were used to collect data in the present study. The study was carried out in line with the pretest-posttest-monitoring test design. SPSS was employed to analyze the data, and One-Way ANOVA for Repeated Measures was used to find out whether there are significant differences between the pre-test scores for environmental consciousness, attitude, thought and behavior and those of the post-test and monitoring test. The Cronbach alfa reliability coefficients of the scales are α=.88 and α=.80, respectively. According to the results of the comparison, it can be argued that significant differences between pre-test environmental consciousness, attitude and behavior scores and post-test and monitoring scores came into being., Bu çalışmada, "Ihlara Vadisi (Aksaray) ve Çevresinde Doğa Eğitimi" projesinin çevre bilinci, çevreye yönelik tutum, düşünce ve davranış üzerindeki etkililiğini ve kalıcılığını belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma grubunu, 03-12 Temmuz 2009 tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirilen doğa eğitimi programına 25 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Söz konusu proje, TÜBİTAK tarafından desteklenen, hedef kitlesi sadece "öğretmen adayı" olan ilk projedir. Veri toplamak amacıyla Milfont ve Duckitt (2006) tarafından geliştirilen ve Ak (2008) tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanan "Çevre Bilinci Ölçeği" ile Uzun ve Sağlam (2006) tarafından geliştirilen, çevresel düşünce ve davranış alt boyutlarından oluşan "Çevresel Tutum Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Çalışma, öntest-sontest-izleme testi desenine uygun olarak yürütülmüştür. Verilerin analizi SPSS yardımıyla yapılmış, karşılaştırmalarda tekrarlı ölçümler için tek faktörlü ANOVA kullanılmıştır. Çoklu karşılaştırmalarda ise LSD testinden faydalanılmıştır. Ölçeklere ilişkin elde edilen Cronbach alfa güvenirlik katsayıları sırasıyla α=.88 ve α=.80'dir. Çalışma sonucunda, doğa eğitimi programının bireylerin çevre bilincine, tutumlarına ve davranışlarına önemli ölçüde etki ettiği ve kalıcılığını sağladığı tespit edilmiştir.

Bu çalışmada Yeşil Sınıf Modeline göre yürütülen Uygulamalı Çevre Eğitimi Projesi nin öğrencilerin çevre bilincine ve kalıcılığına etkisi araştırılmıştır Söz konusu proje Ankara nın alt sosyo ekonomik düzeye sahip Altındağ İlçesi nde yürütülmüştür Bu çalışmaya bölgenin iki ilköğretim okulunda öğrenim görmekte olan 6 ve 7 sınıf öğrencilerinden toplam 229 öğrenci dahil edilmiştir Çalışma öntest sontest izleme testi desenli olup veriler araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen ve geçerlik güvenirlik çalışmaları yapılmış 3 lü Likert tipi Çevre Bilinci Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır Verilerin analizinde SPSS kullanılmış betimsel istatistiklerin yanında kontrol ve deney gruplarının öntest sontest izleme testi çevre bilinci puanları arasında anlamlı bir farklılığın olup olmadığı Karışık Ölçümler İçin İki Faktörlü ANOVA ile kontrol edilmiştir Yapılan istatistiksel analizlerde uygulama sonucunda projeye dahil edilen 6 ve 7 sınıflara ait her iki deney grubunun sontest ve izleme testi ortalamalarının projeye dahil edilmeyen kontrol gruplarının ortalamalarından anlamlı düzeyde yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir Sonuç olarak denemesi yapılan bu projedeki yeşil sınıf modeli uygulaması öğrencilerin çevre bilinci düzeylerini önemli derecede arttırmış ve kalıcılığını sağlamıştır Uygulamanın aktif öğrenme yöntem ve tekniklerine uygun olması da önemini artırmaktadır Ayrıca söz konusu proje alt sosyo ekonomik düzeydeki bir bölgede çevre bilinci kazandırma ve kalıcılığını sağlama bakımından etkili olmuş özgün bir çalışmadır

- Abstract
The purpose of the current study is to determine the tendency in the most recent human geography research by analyzing the master's theses and doctoral theses made in 2008- 2017 in the field of human and economic geography. In the current study, the theses were analyzed according to their type, year of publication, a university where they are made, their subject and the methods employed. Within the framework of the study, a total of 348 theses; 294 master's theses and 54 doctoral theses, were analyzed. The distribution of the theses across years revealed that 2010 is the year in which the highest number of theses was completed and the university where the highest number of theses was completed is İstanbul University. The subjects most investigated in the theses were found to be residential geography and tourism geography. The theses analyzed have been written mostly by using the regional geography approach directed to the description. The most frequently used quantitative data collection technique in the theses is the questionnaire technique and the most frequently used qualitative data collection techniques are the observation and interview techniques. WOS: 000457518100013, Given the importance of resident in ensuring sustainability in tourism destinations, the purpose of the current study is to evaluate the residents' opinions about the sustainability of tourism in Selimiye Village, where there are intense tourism activities. To this end, the answers to the questions "What are the residents' opinions about the sustainability of tourism activities in Selimiye Village?" and "Do the residents think that tourism activities in Selimiye Village are sustainable?" were sought in the current study. Located within the borders of Datca-Bozburun Special Protection Area, Selimiye Village is a coastal village in southwest Anatolia. As a result of the developing access to the village on land, the village has experienced a fast growth in the last two decades. In the current study, data were collected through the face-to-face in-depth interview technique using a semi-structured interview form. As a result of the descriptive analysis of the residents' opinions, it was concluded that unless the necessary precautions are taken, the tourism in Seimiye Village cannot go on in a sustainable manner.

WOS: 000402441600005, It has been said that youth and their parents are losing their connection to nature as evidenced by attendance in protected nature areas (PNA's) such as state and national parks (Outdoor Foundation, 2010, 2014; Monz, Cole, Leung & Marion, 2010). Managers have increased their efforts to encourage greater attendance through advertisements and specialized programs. A challenge to park managers is to manage the park in a manner that protects the natural resource while also managing the visitor experience (Francis, 2016; Lofthouse & Simmons, 2016). A primary benefit of a PNA to a visitor exists through Ecosystem Services, which is an outcome of the quality of the park experience (MEA, 2005). The quality of the visitor experience is determined to be beneficial to ones quality of life or sense of well-being (Diversitas, 2016). Using a survey design, we queired park visitors at one of the most popular state parks in the state of Minnesota called Tettegouche State Park. Visitors (n=222) were administered a questionnaire during two weeks in August, 2013, which is peak season. We asked respondents about the purpose and quality of their visit. Additionally, visitors' perceptions of ecosystem services related to the park were asked (e.g. "I believe that Tettegouche State Park is particularly important because it is a place of scenic beauty"). The ecosystem services items were based on the Common International Classification of Ecosystem Services (CICES, 2013, 2016). Analysis used descriptive statistics and a factor analysis to determine groupings of perceived ecosystem services and management actions. Results indicated a positive park experience with respondents indicating that they intended to revisit the park. Factor analyses revealed visits for "A place of scenic beauty", "A place for hiking", and "A place for the use and enjoyment by people". Management views were to "Provide more information about plants and animals along the trails" and "Educate more about sustainability of park resources". These results indicate a challenge to park managers to manage the park for a more deliberately improved visitor experience beyond resources protection and more toward education provided about sustainability of the resource. This can be a dilema for PNA managers because maintaining the balance between an enhanced visitor experience through additional signage can conflict with sustainability of the natural resources. This can also be a conflict because increased use can directly conflict with sustainability of the PNA (Francis, 2016; Lofthouse & Simmons, 2016).

WOS: 000359065200019, Study area of the present study, Ihlara Valley is located within the borders of Cappadocia region in central Anatolia. With its physical structure and cultural landscape, Ihlara Valley is an important international tourist destination. In addition to this, the area is under national protection as a specially protected environment area. Churches carved on the rock walls of Ihlara Valley, caves and frescos are some of the cultural landscape values in the region. In the present study, the purpose is to evaluate the sustainability of tourism activities in Ihlara Valley and to develop suggestions for the area to have sustainable tourism. Whether the tourism activities in Ihlara Valley are sustainable or not was evaluated based on the sustainable tourism criteria proposed by Gebhard et al. (2008). These four main criteria include 18 sub-criteria and in the present study, 11 of these criteria were found to have low values, 6 of them have medium values and only 1 of them has a high value and particularly the values found for the sub-criteria involved in the main criterion of management and monitoring are low, which shows that the tourism activities in the region are not sustainable. In the second part of the study, suggestions were developed for tourism to be sustainable in Ihlara Valley by evaluating the protection status of the cultural landscape that is one of the important components of sustainable tourism, tourist satisfaction and development of the local community through analytic hierarchy process method.
