Pulmonary mucormycosis is caused by infection with an opportunistic fungus of the order Mucorales and is an acute, rapidly developing, and often-fulminant process usually occurring in immunocompromised individuals and rarely in immunocompetent people. We describe here pulmonary mucormycosis in a patient treated with colchicine for prophylaxis of the familial Mediterranean fever attacks in the absence of another risk factor. Helical thorax computed tomography and thoracotomy showed purulent abscess.
