Amaç: Türk diş hekimlerinin COVID-19 pandemisine karşı diş hekimliği uygulamaları sırasında tutum ve davranışlarında bir değişiklik olup olmadığını araştırmaktır.Gereç ve Yöntemler: Şubat ve Mart 2021'de "Google Formu" kullanılarak web tabanlı bir kesitsel anket çalışması diş hekimlerine yönlendirilmiştir. Anket, aşağıdakileri içeren 4 bölümden oluşmaktadır: 1. demografik veriler (yaş, cinsiyet, medeni durum, sistemik sağlık), uygulama kapsamı (uzman dişhekimi), uygulama yeri (özel veya kamu) ve deneyim; 2. Uygulamada COVID-19 yönetimi ve klinik biyogüvenlik rutini hakkında sorular, 3. COVID-19'a karşı diş hekimliği kliniklerinde alınan önlemler hakkında sorular ve 4. Diş hekimlerinin COVID-19 pandemisine yönelik bilgi, tutum ve endişeleri hakkında sorulardır.Bulgular: Toplam 556 diş hekimi anketi tamamlamıştır. Background: The aim of this study was to assess the trabecular bone pattern changes of orthodontically treated patients before orthodontic treatment (T0), immediately after (T1) and 6 months after (T2) the treatment by using fractal dimension (FD) analysis in order to guide implant applications. Methods: Totally 32 orthodontic patients who had one missing tooth were included in the study. Patients were treated to align the teeth and to create a dimensionally appropriate space for implant placement. Panoramic radiographs were taken with standard protocols at the time periods of before (T0), immediately after (T1) and 6 months after (T2) treatment. FD analysis was performed using Image J 1.3 software with the boxcounting method. Results: The highest FD value was measured before treatment (T0=1.47±0.14). WOS:000472779400008 Bone mineral density (BMD) is reduced due to the antiepileptic drug (AED) use. This retrospective study aimed at comparing the fractal dimension (FD) and mandibular indices in certain regions on dental panoramic radiographs (DPRs) of patients using AED and also of healthy individuals. In 34 patients with epilepsy using AED and in 34 healthy subjects, panoramic mandibular index (PMI), mandibular cortical width (MCW), mandibular cortical index (MCI), and fractal dimension (FD) of four different regions were assessed using DPRs. FD, measured in the condylar, second premolar and angulus regions, and the mean FD values were significantly lower in the affected patients (p=0.027, p=0.001, p=0.032, p=0.006 respectively). The mean PMI was higher in controls (p=0.001), yet MCI were similar in both groups (p=0.765). FD analysis and radiomorphometric indices in panoramic radiographs can be used to evaluate osteoporotic changes in patients using AEDs.

Aim: In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between sinus floor cortication (SFC) and Schneiderian membrane thickness (SMT) through cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. Materials and Methods: A total of 292 maxillary sinuses of 146 patients (61 males, 85 females) who underwent a CBCT scan for dental implant treatment were evaluated. SFC was classified as follows: type-1: sinus floor exhibiting similar or higher density than the surrounding cortical areas, type-2: sinus floor exhibiting lower density than the surrounding cortical areas, type-3: sinus floor exhibiting no cortical bone, and type-4: sinus floor exhibiting fusion of sinus floor bone and native crestal bone. We also investigated the relationship between the SFC types and SMTs measured from the highest border of the membrane to the sinus floor on cross-sectional images. Results: Type-1, type-2, type-3, and type-4 SFC were seen in 114, 102, 48, and 28 cases, respectively. The Schneiderian membrane was found to be thinner in type-1 SFC than in type-2 SFC. No significant difference was found between type-3 and type-4 SFC in terms of SMT. Discussion and Conclusion: Evaluation of SFC and SMT using CBCT can provide information about implant stability and survival in treatment after sinus grafting. Although type-1 SFC is favorable for implant placement, it may also be associated with an increased risk of membrane perforation. Amaç: Bu çalışmada sinüs tabanı kortikasyonu (STK) ve Schneiderian membran kalınlığı (SMK) arasındaki ilişkiyi konik ışınlı bilgisayarlı tomografi (KIBT) görüntüleri üzerinden incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Dental implant tedavisi için KIBT çektirmiş 146 hastaya ait (61 erkek, 85 kadın) toplam 292 maksiller sinüs değerlendirildi. STK şu şekilde sınıflandırıldı: tip 1: çevre kortikal alanla benzer ya da daha yüksek dansite gösteren sinüs tabanı, tip 2: çevre kortikal alandan daha düşük dansite gösteren sinüs tabanı, tip 3: kortikal kemik içermeyen sinüs tabanı, tip 4: krestal kemikle kaynaşmış sinüs tabanı. Kesitsel görüntülerde membranın en üst noktası ile tabanı arasında ölçülen SMK ile STK tipleri arasındaki ilişki de incelendi. Bulgular: Tip 1, tip 2, tip 3 ve tip 4 STK sırasıyla 114, 102, 48 ve 28 vakada görüldü. Schneiderian membran tip 1 STK’de tip 2 STK’ye kıyasla daha ince bulundu. Tip 3 STK ile tip 4 STK arasında SMK açısından anlamlı fark görülmedi. Tartışma ve Sonuç: STK ve SMK’nin KIBT ile değerlendirilmesi sinüs greftleme sonrası tedavide implant stabilitesi ve sağkalımı hakkında bilgi sağlayabilir. Tip 1 STK, implant yerleştirme için elverişli iken, daha yüksek bir membran perforasyonu riski ile ilişkili olabilir.

Objective: Maxillarysinus ostium is the top section of the medial wall the and is hence poorlyplaced from the point of view of free drainage; it opens into the narrowethmoidal infundibulum, inflammation of which can further break drainage, sothis may cause in the development of chronic maxillary sinusitis. This studyaims to evaluate maxillary sinus pathologies (MSP) and their possible relationwith maxillary sinus ostium dimensions.Material and Methods: Cone BeamComputed Tomography (CBCT) scans which belong to 139 patients (52 male and 87female) were retrospectively evaluated with regard to ostium dimensions and thepresence of MSP including retention cyst and mucosal thickening. IndependentSamples t-test and Pearson Chi-Square were used to for statistical analysis.Results: Nostatistically significant difference was observed between patients with andwithout MSP in terms of ostium width (p=0.13). While the mean ostium width was2.08 mm in the patient with MSP it was measured as 2.14 mm in patients withoutMSP. For all patients examined, right and left ostiums mean widths were 1.97 mm(Range 0.67-4.25) and 2.26 mm (Range 0.67-5.25), respectively. No significantdifference was observed in ostium width according to gender (p≥0.05). Among allpatients, 18.7% (n=26) had MSP; of these 10 were bilateral and 16 wereunilateral.Conclusion: MSP is thecommon finding in CBCT examinations and the results of this study showed thatMSP does not seem to be associated with the ostium width., Amaç: Maksiller sinüs ostiumu sinüs medial duvarının enüst kısmıdır ve bundan dolayı yerleşimi drenaj açısından zayıftır. Bağımsız ÖrneklemT-Testi ve Pearson Ki-Kare testi istatistiksel analiz aşamasında kullanıldı.Bulgular: MSP olan ve olmayan hastalar arasında ostium genişliğiaçısından istatistiksel bir farklılık görülmedi (p=0.13). MSP olan hastalardaortalama ostium genişliği 2.08 mm iken, MSP olmayanlarda ortalama genişlik 2.14mm olarak ölçüldü. İncelenen tüm hastalarda sağ ve sol ostium genişlikortalamaları sırasıyla 1.97 mm (Aralık 0.67-4.25) ve 2.26 mm (Aralık 0.67-5.25)olarak bulundu. Cinsiyete göre ostium genişliği açısından istatistikselfarklılık görülmedi (p≥0.05). Tüm hastalar arasında %18.7 (n=26) hastada MSPizlenirken, bunlardan 10 tanesi çift taraflı, 16 tanesi ise tek taraflıdır.Sonuç: MSP, KIBT araştırmalarında en yaygın bulgu olup,bu çalışmanın sonuçları göstermektedir ki MSP ile ostium genişliği ilişkilibulunmamıştır.

Objectives: Helicobacter pylori (H.Pylori) is a Gram(-), microaerophilic bacteria and the etiological factor of chronic activegastritis and peptic ulcer. Some studies indicated that this bacterium found atoral cavity which is a potential reservoir for stomach. Several studies showedthat H. pylori may found in salivaand subgingival plaque of chronic periodontitis patients. However, there is nodata related to aggressive periodontitis patients. In this study, we aimed todetermine the prevalence of H. pyloriin subgingival plaque samples of chronic, aggressive periodontitis andgingivitis patients and to increase the awareness of the patients for gastricproblems. Materialsand Methods: This study included 155 patients (61 with gingivitis,60 with chronic periodontitis, and 34 with aggressive periodontitis) who didnot have gastric disease symptom and did not use antibiotics in the last 3months. The subgingival plaque samples were taken using sterile paper points.The existence of H. pylori, A. actinomycetemcomitans,and P. gingivaliswas detected by RT-PCR. Results: H. pylori was not detected in any groupsat the end of microbiological analysis.However, a high occurrence of A. actinomycetemcomitans (97.1%) and P. gingivalis(100%) was observed in the aggressive periodontitis group. However, A. actinomycetemcomitansand P. gingivalis were found in 30% and 21.7% of patients,respectively, with chronic periodontitis. A.actinomycetemcomitans and P. gingivaliswere found in 24.6% of patients in the gingivitis group.Conclusions: H. pylori were not detected in samples, indicating that subgingival plaque may notbe a primary reservoir for this bacterium., Amaç: Helicobacter pylori (H. Çeşitliçalışmalar, H. pylori'nin kronik periodontitisli hastaların tükrük vesubgingival plaklarında görülebileceğini göstermiştir. Bununla birlikte agresifperiodontitis hastaları ile ilgili herhangi bir veri yoktur. Bu çalışmada, kronik, agresifperiodontitis ve gingivitis hastalarının subgingival plak örneklerinde H.pylori prevalansını saptamayı ve hastaların gastrik problemler konusundabilinçlenmesini arttırmayı amaçladık.Gereçve Yöntem: Bu çalışma,gastrik hastalık semptomu olmayan ve son 3 ayda antibiyotik kullanmayan 155hasta (61 adet gingivitis, 60'ı kronik periodontitisli ve 34 agresifperiodontitisli) içermekteydi. Subgingivalplak örnekleri steril paper point kullanılarak alındı. H.pylori, A. actinomycetemcomitans ve P. gingivalis'in varlığı RT-PCR ile tespitedildi.Bulgular: Mikrobiyolojikanalizin sonunda herhangi bir grupta H. pylori tespit edilmedi. Bununla birlikte, agresif periodontit grubunda yüksekoranda A. actinomycetemcomitans (%97.1) ve P. gingivalis (%100) görülmüştür. Bununla birlikte, A.actinomycetemcomitans ve P. gingivalis, kronik periodontitisli hastalarınsırasıyla %30 ve %21.7'sinde bulunmuştur. A. actinomycetemcomitans ve P.gingivalis gingivitisli hastaların %24.6'sında bulundu. Sonuç: H. pylori, örneklerde saptanmamışolması, subgingival plağın bu bakteri için birincil rezervuar olmayabileceğinigösterdi.

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, implant tedavisinde başarının, yaş, cinsiyet, sistemik durum, protetik tedavi çeşidi ve cerrahi teknik ile ilişkisini inceleyerek oluşabilecek başarısızlıkların önüne geçilmesini sağlamaktır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışmaya 2011–2017 döneminde Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi’nde dental implant tedavisi görmüş toplam 877 hasta dahil edildi. Toplam 3033 adet dental implanta dair arşiv kayıtları ve radyografiler retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Yaşa göre implant kaybetme oranları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunurken (p=0,0001), implant kaybı açısından iki cinsiyet arasında anlamlı fark bulunmadı (p=0,157). Hastalar sistemik rahatsızlıkları açısından değerlendirildiğinde en yaygın görülen hastalıklar hipertansiyon, diyabet, kardiyovasküler hastalıklar, tiroit hastalıkları ve osteoporoz idi. 3033 implantın 2905’i kemik-seviyesi, 128’i doku-seviyesi implant olup, 952’si posteriyor maksilla, 398’i anteriyor maksilla, 1042’si posteriyor mandibula, 641’i anteriyor mandibulaya yerleştirilmişti. İmplant lokasyonu ile kaybedilen implant sayısı arasındaki fark istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmadı. Dental implantlar 513 adet tek kron, 700 köprü ve 260 hareketli protez ile restore edildi. Overdenture protezlerin 50 adeti bar bağlantılı, 210 adeti de Locator ataçman şeklindeydi. Protez tipi ve implant kayıp oranları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulundu (p=0,007). Tartışma ve Sonuç: İmplant tedavisinin başarısında hastanın sistemik ve lokal açıdan dikkatlice değerlendirilmesi ve doğru bir protetik planlama büyük önem taşımaktadır. Aim: This study aimed to prevent possible failures in dental implant treatment by examining the relationship between treatment success and age, sex, systemic condition, prosthetic treatment type, and surgical technique. Materials and Methods: A total of 877 patients who had undergone dental implant treatment at Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Faculty of Dentistry between 2011 and 2017 were included. Archive records and radiographs concerning a total of 3033 dental implants were evaluated retrospectively. Results: There was statistically significant difference between the implant loss rates by age (p=0.0001), but no significant difference was found between the two sexes (p=0.157). When the patients were evaluated for their systemic conditions, the most common diseases were hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, thyroid diseases, and osteoporosis. Of the 3033 implants, 2905 were bone-level and 128 tissue-level, and 952 were placed in the posterior maxilla, 398 anterior maxilla, 1042 posterior mandible and 641 anterior mandible. No statistically significant difference was found between implant location site and number of lost implants. The dental implants were restored with 513 single crowns, 700 bridges, and 260 removable prostheses. Of the overdenture prostheses, 50 were bar-connected and 210 Locator attachments. There was statistically significant difference between prosthesis type and implant loss rates (p=0.007). Discussion and Conclusion: Careful local and systemic assessment of the patient and correct prosthetic planning are crucial in the success of implant treatments.
