This study was carried out to evaluate the biological effects of methanolic, acetone and petroleum ether leaves extract of Artemisia absinthium against the 1st instar larvae of Chrysomya albiceps. All extracts have toxicity against the larvae of C. albiceps. The larvicidal, pupicidal and adulticidal activity of these extracts was varied depending on the solvent used in the extraction and the dose of the extract. Complete larval mortality percent (100%) was caused only by the petroleum ether extract of at 0.4g/ml with (Lc50 0.11 g/ml). Methanol and acetone extract had delayed toxic effects on pupae resulted from treated larvae. The toxicity of all plant extracts was extended to the adults that resulted from the treated larvae. Larval and pupal duration showed a significant increase. The growth index for treated larvae and resulted pupae was greatly affected by methanol and acetone extract. The highest retardation in growth was recorded at the highest concentration of 0.4g/ml by acetone leaves extract (2.2 vs. 8.4 for control).

The doryctine wasp species (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) of Farasan Archipelago (Saudi Arabia) are studied here for the first time. Six species are reported, of which Mimodoryctes arabicus Edmardash, Gadallah & Soliman is described and illustrated as a new species. Neoheterospilus sp. is most probably a new species but further collecting should be done to obtain the female. Four species are new records for Saudi Arabia as well as for the whole Arabian Peninsula: Dendrosotinus ferrugineus (Marshall, 1888), Hecabalodes anthaxiae Wilkinson, 1929, Mimodoryctes proprius Belokobylskij, 2001, and Rhaconotus (Rhaconotus) carinatus Polaszek, 1994. The newly recorded species are re-described and illustrated.

The Farasan Archipelago is a group of small coral islands and islets in the southern Red Sea, offshore of the southwestern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). These islands are internationally important as breeding sites for turtles and bird species and regionally for its threatened, rare, and endemic flora and other fauna. The beetles (Coleoptera) of the Archipelago have not been previously surveyed. This study presents the first data on the beetle fauna based on a recent survey of the Farasan Archipelago. In total, 179 beetle species (including three synanthropic species) in 145 genera and 31 coleopteran families were determined. The Carabidae are represented by 31 species, followed by the Tenebrionidae (22 species), Chrysomelidae (17 species), Scarabaeidae (13 species), and Coccinellidae (12 species). The genusLasioceraDejean, 1831 and the speciesAmblystomus villiersanusBruneau de Miré, 1991 (Carabidae) are new for the beetle fauna of the Arabian Peninsula, and eighteen species are new country records for KSA. Sand dune habitats on the islands were inhabited by the greatest number of species in comparison with other habitats. Zoogeographically, the beetle fauna of the Archipelago was dominated by the representatives of the Saharo-Arabian and Afrotropical elements (74 spp., 41.0%). Fourteen species (7.8%) were recognized as cosmopolitan and subcosmopolitan. No species was known to be exclusively endemic to Farasan Archipelago. Eighteen species (10.1%) were endemic to Arabian Peninsula and KSA. Approximately 64.8% (116 spp.) of the archipelago beetle species is found on the KSA mainland and is most closely allied to the south and southwestern KSA regions (sharing 91 spp.). Comparisons of the beetle faunas of the Farasan and Socotra archipelagos indicate that 30 families, 70 genera, and 28 species are shared.

Field studies were conducted in Assiut Governorate during the growing cotton season of 2017 to investigate the effect of five IGR,s compounds (Ivcoron, Cligeron, Kfarussel, Kligeron & Hixie) in addition to, Abizo as one oxadiazine and Defensor-c as one pyrethroid against the cotton leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.); two pyrethroids; (Super-Muthran & Karelot El-Nasr Gold); three organophorous compounds (Actacron, Agricron & Deliron El-Nasr Star) and Jinyu as one carbamate compound against the cotton bollworms; pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saund.) and spiny bollworm Earias insulana (Boisd.). Results indicated thatAgricron gave a higher reduction of the cotton bollworms infestation amounted to 82.52% followed by Actacron (79.72%), then, Super-Muthran, Karelot El-Nasr Gold, Jinyu& Deliron El-Nasr Star (79.04, 79.04, 78.71 & 78.12%) respectively. For the cotton leafworm, Kfarussel and Abizo proved to be the most effective in initial and residual activity causing 65 & 75% mortality respectively, while Hixie was the least effective. The field trials suggest that these tested compounds reduce the population growth of cotton leafworm and bollworms by affecting its development (larval instars) so, these compounds can be integrated pest management programs of cotton.

Two new species of the genus Aleiodes Wesmael, 1838 (Braconidae: Rogadinae) and one new species of Avga Nixon, 1940 (Braconidae: Pambolinae), collected from Farasan Islands, Jazan, south-western part of Saudi Arabia, are described and illustrated: Aleiodes farasanensis Gadallah & Edmardash, sp. nov., A. subpallidator Edmardash & Gadallah, sp. nov. (Rogadinae), and Avga saudita Gadallah & Edmardash, sp. nov. The braconid subfamilies Gnamptodontinae, Hormiinae and Pambolinae are recorded here for the first time for the Arabian Peninsula, as well as the genera Adelius Haliday, 1833 (Cheloninae) and Braconella Szépligeti, 1906 (Braconinae). Coccygidium luteum (Brullé, 1846) and the genera, Diolcogaster Ashmead, 1900 (Microgastrinae) and Yelicones Cameron, 1887 (Rogadinae) are new records for Saudi Arabia. The hitherto unknown male of Braconella minor Szépligeti, 1906 (Braconinae) is described for the first time. A new form (form D) of Diolcogaster mayae (Shestakov, 1932) (Braconidae: Microgastrinae) from the Farasan Islands is described, illustrated, and compared with the previous forms collected in Iran and other countries.

The tribe Hormiini Förster, 1863, and subfamily Macrocentrinae Förster, 1863 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) are recorded for the first time for the Egyptian fauna. Hormiini is represented by five species in two genera, Avga Nixon, 1940, with a single new species, A. sinaitica Edmardash & Gadallah; and Hormius Nees, 1819 (4 species), H. moniliatus (Nees, 1811), H. propodealis (Belokobylskij, 1989), H. sculpturatus Tobias, 1967, and H. similis Szépligeti, 1896. One species of Macrocentrinae, Macrocentrus collaris (Spinola, 1808) is also reported here. The specimens were collected from different localities of Egypt.

A checklist of Eulophidae (excluding Entiinae) is presented based primarily on a total of 155 specimens collected from 23 localities in Egypt during the period of April 2012 to June 2014, mostly by sweep net. Altogether, 55 species in 22 genera and 3 subfamilies (Entedoninae, Eulophinae and Tetrastichinae) are recorded, of which 6 genera (Dicladocerus Westwood, Euplectrus Westwood, Entedon Dalman, Neotrichoporoides Girault, Sigmophora Rondani and Sympiesis Förster) and 33 species (60%) are newly reported for Egypt. The valid name and world distribution of each species are given; local distributions and host records for species previously recorded from Egypt are also given. Most of the species have a distribution characterized as Palaearctic, Afrotropical, or Indo-Malayan. About 4% are cosmopolitan in distribution.
