International audience; Abstract: Trade fluctuations between North Africa and Southern Sicily: the 6th and 7th centuries AD. Cignana as a case study. This essay will examine the trend in imports of African potteries – notably amphorae and fine wares – in a rural zone of southern Sicily. We are dealing with the region of Cignana, not far from the coastline, where archaeological excavations documented a large settlement that experienced a big growth between the 5th and 6th centuries AD. During this period, a shift in the ceramic supply from the Zeugitana towards the Byzacena occurred. Nevertheless, the positive trend in imports persists until the last decades of the 6th century. Thereafter, it shows a decrease until the apparent interruption after the mid-7th century. New changes in the Mediterranean trading system seem to undermine the proximity exchanges between northern Africa and southern Sicily, but not the long-distance ones. At Cignana, this causes a gap in our knowledge that is still difficult to fill today. However, the discovery of a new ceramic class inspired by African prototypes of the late 7th century stimulates further reflection on the material culture of early Byzantine Sicily.

African Red Slip wares (ARS) are among the most common classes found in Sicily and a reliable chronological marker dated from the end of the 1st to the 7th century AD. We will here analyse data concerning the ARS wares collected during the Cignana and Himera surveys, carried out by the University of Palermo in northern and southern Sicily. The quantitative approach based on the Minimum Number of Vessels (MNV) allowed us to compare two different areas and therefore to detect differences and similarities in pottery distribution. The interdisciplinary (archaeological/archaeometric) approach helped us to improve the typological identifications of pottery and to identify with precision the origin of the imports. As a consequence, this research will help to enhance the understanding of the trade routes existing between different regions of Tunisia and Sicily during the centuries.

L’area del Golfo di Castellammare (Sicilia occidentale) è nota per le numerose fornaci di età romana. In questo articolo, si cercherà di ricostruire l’attività di un’officina destinata principalmente alla produzione di laterizi con bollo ΟΝΑΣΟΥ, databile fra III e I secolo a.C. Ricerche precedenti hanno permesso di riconoscere nel produttore di questi laterizi lo stesso Onasus Segestanus citato nelle Verrine di Cicerone e di localizzarne una possibile officina presso la Baia di San Cataldo. La scoperta di nuovi laterizi bollati e di scarti ceramici assume notevole importanza per una ricerca sugli ateliers ceramici del Golfo di Castellammare e della Piana di Partinico. Ne deriva un quadro aggiornato e ricco di prospettive di ricerca, relative all’espansione commerciale di Onasus nel corso del tempo e all’attività produttiva di altre fornaci, i cui manufatti potevano essere esportati o utilizzati localmente. The area of the Gulf of Castellamare (western Sicily) is well known for the several roman kilns. The aim of this paper is to reconstruct the productive activity of a workshop mainly manufacturing tiles with ΟΝΑΣΟΥ stamps, probably dating between the 3rd and the 1st century B.C. The previous researches permitted to recognize Onasus Segestanus, mentioned in Cicero’s Verrines, as the producer of these tiles and to localize a possible workshop in the Bay of St Cataldo. The discovery of new stamped tiles and ceramics wastes assume considerable importance for an investigation focused on the ceramic workshops in the Gulf of Castellamare and the Bay of St Cataldo. The result is an up-to-date picture rich in research perspectives, concerning the Onasus’s trade expansion during the time and the productive activity of other kilns, whose artefacts could be exported or locally employed.

International audience; Among the events that occurred in Sicily during the First Punic War, the historians remember the Asdrubal's army march from Lilybaeum to Palermo across the Σελινουντία δυσχωρία. What might appear as a minor detail aroused the interest of scholars, who tried to identify this impervious region in Palermo's rugged mountains over the centuries. Nevertheless, is it possible to localize nowadays the passes the Carthaginian army crossed? This paper tries to answer this question through Palermo's mountains geomorphology examination supported by an in-deep historical and archival data analysis concerning the ancient paths linking Palermo to the southern coast of Sicily.

International audience; In this overview (introductory article to a special issue including 14 papers), we consider all main types of natural and artificial inland freshwater habitas (fwh). For each type, we identify the main biodiversity patterns and ecological features, human impacts on the system and environmental issues, and discuss ways to use this information to improve stewardship. Examples of selected key biodiversity/ecological features (habitat type): narrow endemics, sensitive (groundwater and GDEs); crenobionts, LIHRes (springs); unidirectional flow, nutrient spiraling (streams); naturally turbid, floodplains, large-bodied species (large rivers); depth-variation in benthic communities (lakes); endemism and diversity (ancient lakes); threatened, sensitive species (oxbow lakes, SWE); diverse, reduced littoral (reservoirs); cold-adapted species (Boreal and Arctic fwh); endemism, depauperate (Antarctic fwh); flood pulse, intermittent wetlands, biggest river basins (tropical fwh); variable hydrologic regime—periods of drying, flash floods (arid-climate fwh). Selected impacts: eutrophication and other pollution, hydrologic modifications, overexploitation, habitat destruction, invasive species, salinization. Climate change is a threat multiplier, and it is important to quantify resistance, resilience, and recovery to assess the strategic role of the different types of freshwater ecosystems and their value for biodiversity conservation. Effective conservation solutions are dependent on an understanding of connectivity between different freshwater ecosystems (including related terrestrial, coastal and marine systems).

International audience; This study explores the associations among job insecurity, occupational self-efficacy, work engagement, job satisfaction and health and the mediation role of occupational self-efficacy. Two hundred and forty-one workers, were asked to fill in the Occupational Self-Efficacy Scale, the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale, the Satisfaction Scale of Occupational Stress Inventory and the General Health Questionnaire. Mediation analysis was performed using the boot-strapping method. Job insecurity was negatively related to work engagement, job satisfaction and general health. Occupational self-efficacy mediated the relationship between job insecurity, work engagement, job satisfaction and health on employees in the private and public sectors. The originality of this work is that it shows the effect of job insecurity on engagement, satisfaction and health, and the mediational role of occupational self-efficacy. In a time of economic crisis, when it is not possible to guarantee permanent contracts, Human Resource managers might consider occupational self-efficacy as a resource when planning interventions.

The educators’ work in juvenile justice residential communities and their capacity of affective attunement to the adolescent's needs is essential for the creation of a protective and enriching context for the adolescent and his life trajectories. This article aims to explore the social representations of educators and young people in residential communities in Italy, through the analysis of their discourses gathered during focus groups. Our results reveal the need to compare these representations and work to narrow the gap between the caregivers and the users, in order to improve the relationship between the different protagonists of the interaction and, consequently, the possibilities of good success of interventions., Le travail des éducateurs des foyers de protection judiciaire de la jeunesse et leur syntonisation émotionnelle avec les besoins de l’adolescent sont d’importance primordiale pour la création d’un contexte protecteur et pour la valorisation de l’adolescent et de son parcours de vie. Cet article veut explorer les représentations sociales des éducateurs et des jeunes pris en charge en foyer de protection judiciaire de la jeunesse en Italie à travers l’analyse de leurs discours recueillis lors de groupes de parole. Nos résultats font apparaître la nécessité de comparer ces représentations et de travailler pour réduire l’écart entre le monde des soignants et celui des usagers à fin d’améliorer la relation entre les différents protagonistes de l’interaction et, en conséquence, les possibilités de bonne réussite de la prise en charge.

International audience; Adult attachment style has only recently been considered as having a role in explaining work behavior. The present research aimed to explore the impact of adult attachment style, assessed by the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI), on organizational commitment (OC) and on adult attachment in the workplace (AAW). We hypothesized that a secure attachment style would be positively related to affective and normative commitment, while preoccupied and avoidant styles would be negatively related to affective commitment; we also hypothesized that there would be a correspondence between the AAI categories and the AAW dimensions. Using the AAI categories as group variable, analysis of average OC and AAW scores confirmed the hypotheses. Secure workers had a higher mean score for affective commitment than avoidant and preoccupied workers; normative commitment was higher in avoidant than in secure and preoccupied workers; continuance commitment was higher in preoccupied than in secure and avoidant workers. Moreover, AAI categories converged with AAW dimensions: secure workers had higher secure AAW scores than avoidant and preoccupied workers; avoidant workers had higher avoidant AAW scores than secure and preoccupied workers; preoccupied workers had higher preoccupied AAW scores than secure and avoidant workers.

International audience; Aim of this work is to highlight some psychic consequences of post-modernity and particularly the sliding towards more archaic levels of functioning. Therefore, after presenting some distinctive characteristics of post-modernity, we briefly report some data related to the last Censis report on the social situation in Italy, we continue highlighting the emergence of some specific behavioral and relational difficulties show by the recent clinical literature and, finally, using as a vertex of analysis the groupanalytic theory, we propose a key of reading still little explored, on the link between the changes registered at the social level and those recorded at the psychic level (affects, thoughts, behaviors) that can explain the general shift towards more archaic levels of operation.

International audience; Although psychological abuse is recognized as a particularly insidious form of child abuse, research on the impact of this type of abuse related to intimate partner violence (IPV) is scant. This study examined the contribution of childhood psychological abuse to IPV in female victims and non-victims. Furthermore, it investigated the role of cumulative abuse in predicting IPV. The study included 38 women victims of IPV and 40 non-IPV women. All participants were investigated using the Childhood Experience of Care and Abuse Interview (CECA); the Revised Conflict Tactics Scale (CTS2) and the IPV History Interview were used to assess IPV in the last year and lifetime, respectively. Results indicated that psychological abuse was a stronger predictor of IPV than other maltreatment types. Furthermore, dose–response effects of cumulative abuse on IPV are well evidenced. Future research should continue examining impacts of psychological abuse on IPV so as to further inform clinical practice and intervention planning.

This paper offers an overview of the archaeological evidence known along the Eleuterio valley, in northern Sicily.

The Depressive Experiences Questionnaire (DEQ) is a self-report measure that assesses self-criticism and dependency, 2 personality traits that confer vulnerability to depression (Blatt, 2004). Over several decades, different, shortened versions of the DEQ have been constructed to offer an alternative to the complex scoring procedure of the original DEQ. This study explores the factor structure as well as the construct and convergent validity of the DEQ by comparing a clinical and nonclinical sample. We also compared the original DEQ with 5 shortened versions. There were 621 participants (358 university students and 263 outpatients). Fit indexes for models of the original DEQ did not meet minimum fit criteria. Moreover, the only versions with satisfactory fit were the Theoretical Depressive Experiences Questionnaire – 21 (TDEQ –21) and the Theoretical Depressive Experiences Questionnaire – 12 (TDEQ–12), which also showed acceptable construct and convergent validity. Finally, the diagnostic and clinical applicability of the DEQ is discussed.

International audience; Childhood maltreatment is considered a crucial explanatory variable for intimate partner violence (IPV) in adulthood. However, a developmental multifactorial model for the etiology of IPV is not shared by researchers yet. This study has investigated the role of a wide range of childhood maltreatments and family and social dysfunctions in predicting IPV; furthermore, it tests a model where childhood maltreatment mediates the relationship between environmental dysfunctions and IPV. The sample included 78 women: IPV (38) and non-IPV (40). The Italian version of the Childhood Experience of Care and Abuse (CECA) Interview was used to assess the presence of adverse childhood experiences. The Revised Conflict Tactics Scale (CTS-2) and the IPV History Interview were used to assess IPV in the last year and lifetime, respectively. The results of a multivariate logistic regression model have indicated that only sexual (odds ratio [OR] = 4.24) and psychological (OR = 3.45) abuse significantly predicted IPV; with regard to association between IPV and environmental dysfunctions, only poor social support (OR = 8.91) significantly predicted IPV. The results of a mediation model have shown that childhood psychological and sexual abuse, in association with each other, partially mediate the relationship between poor social support and IPV. The findings from this study pinpoint poor social support as an important predictor of IPV so far neglected in the literature on the developmental antecedents of IPV. They also support the theoretical assumption according to which dysfunctional environmental variables and types of childhood maltreatment interacting with each other may influence development outcomes.

International audience; In many parts of Sicily, the Late Antiquity represents a period of strong transformation in settlement patterns and landscapes. These changes occur also on an area 20 km SE from Agrigento, on the southern coast of the island: this is the territory around the imperial villa of Cignana (2nd-3th century AD), where the University of Palermo carried out some surveys from 2007. During the surveys more than 30 new topographic units of Late Antiquity were detected: some of them are big and accurately dated, others are small and difficult to interpret. Usually, they have located in easily accessible places, close to springs and the road system. Principally African pottery allows us to follow the transformation and to detect continuity or decline in respect of the previous phases. Some sites already inhabited during the early and middle imperial age endure and grow in size, others disappear. Four of them become large villages between the 5th-6th cent., as shown by the number and variety of African imports, and in some cases persist until the early 7th, albeit reduced. After this moment the settlement patterns change totally: long-life sites are abandoned and the countryside is apparently unpopulated. Feeble traces of life are provided by few sherds of Rocchicella cooking pots (8th - early 9th) and handle with deep groove. What are the causes of this transformation in the Cignana landscape? Could socio-political, economic, or climatic changes explain it? Maybe our knowledge about medieval pottery, especially common ware and local productions, is still too limited to understand these changes?

International audience; Oncological Genetic Counselling (CGO) allows the identification of a genetic component that increases the risk of developing a cancer. Individuals' psychological reactions are influenced by both the content of the received information and the subjective perception of their own risk of becoming ill or being a carrier of a genetic mutation. This study included 120 participants who underwent genetic counselling for breast and/or ovarian cancer. The aim of the study was to examine the relation between their cancer risk perception and the genetic risk during CGO before receiving genetic test results, considering the influence of some psychological variables, in particular distress, anxiety and depression. Participants completed the following tools during a psychological interview: a socio-demographic form, Cancer Risk Perception (CRP) and Genetic Risk Perception (GRP), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and Distress Thermometer (DT). The data seem to confirm our hypothesis. Positive and significant correlations were found between the observed variables. Moreover, genetic risk perception determined an increase in depressive symptomatology and cancer risk perception led to an increase in anxious symptomatology, specifically in participants during cancer treatment. The present results suggest the importance of assessing genetic and cancer risk perception in individuals who undergo CGO, to identify those who are at risk of a decrease in psychological well-being and of developing greater psychological distress.

Ce projet de recherche se fonde sur une étude typologique et archéométrique des matériaux d’époque romaine-impériale collectés pendant les prospections, surtout les céramiques africaines importées en Sicile entre la fin du Ier et le VIIe siècle apr. J.C. On ne va pas se concentrer sur une seule classe de céramique mais on va analyser globalement tous les objets manufacturés (amphores, sigillées, vaisselles culinaires, communes, lampes) en adoptant une approche diachronique correspondant à l’entière période de circulation de ces céramiques. L’objectif est de reconstruire les contacts économiques entre les deux provinces et individualiser l’origine des différentes productions. Nous allons essayer de déterminer les routes maritimes, les systèmes de distribution à l'échelle micro-régionale, les tendances du marché local et les différences dans la circulation des mêmes produits entre ville et campagne, sans oublier les aspects culturels.

International audience; n this paper, we describe the advantages of an experiential training group, specifically conceived for psychology students, in which the goal was to activate reflection on the internalized social representations of professional identity. Our study showed the results of a pre-post comparison of a one-group intervention. It was aimed to demonstrate that group experiential learning is particularly useful in changing the basis of social representations and may contribute to the construction of a realistic image of both the profession and the professional identity. The research involved 88 students enrolled in a graduate program in clinical psychology. Before and after the experiential groups, students were asked to write a text starting from the prompt “becoming a psychologist.” These 176 texts provided the data used for this study. We carried out a text analysis using automatized software that provided hierarchical classification and factorial analysis of correspondences. The changes in the students’ representations of psychologists underline how participation in group experiential learning has allowed students to build a more realistic, less stereotypical and idealized vision of their future profession and created greater awareness of the limits of a training program based solely on the acquisition of theoretical notions. The data suggest the possibility of usefully practicing such learning activities in order to help students to reflect on their professional representations

International audience; What is the relationship between science and communication? And how important are cultural dissemination tools for the research survival? Recently, the archaeological study has undergone a substantial change, thanks to the introduction of non-invasive digital surveying techniques as well as physical and chemical analyses. It became therefore necessary to form a new archaeologist able to use them and to dialogue with new professional figures that move in the same direction. Also, it’s essential to promote the communication expert figures, which linked the scientific world and the public at large. Actually, Digital storytelling is a learning tool increasingly used by museums to enrich their offer through emotional experience and participatory processes. Digital storytelling is based on the idea of combining the oldest and most traditional form of communication and transmission of the knowledge with the newest means of communication and of sharing information: different forms and types of digital multimedia devices.

The presence of a bothros and fragments of female figures with stephane suggested the presence of a small sanctuary or temenos for chthonic deities. The little news published by Marconi and the vague indication of location made us forget the existence of this sanctuary for many years. However, a survey carried out in 2016 allowed to identify the remains of Marconi’s structure, partly covered by ground. At the same time, other little-known structures have been identified. In some cases, their function is still unknown

International audience; The physician-patient relationship is daily destabilized by emotional reactions and psychic defenses that cancer arises in the two partners. Continued scientific and technological progresses which were reached by medicine in recent years, and particularly oncologic clinical discoveries, increased the chance of not only survival but also healing. Nevertheless, cancer diagnosis is still a hard existential text that destabilizes everyday life, all the psychic and relational balance, inevitably causing a psychological and social change not only in the patient who is affected but also into the wide social network around him (family, friends, doctors, healthcare team…). The aim of this review is to understand how problems, feelings, emotions, distresses or defense mechanisms could garble the relation and the communication dynamics between physician and patients and then prejudicing the efficacy of oncologic therapeutic compliance. Pubmed and Scopus were searched, using strings related to “cancer”, “physician-patient relations”, burn-out”, “compliance”, and “communication”, identifying literature published from 2000 to January 2015. Extracted papers were assessed for their relevance (10 of 412 papers initially reviewed). Results indicate that a good and empathetic relationship between physician and patient were related to good therapeutic adherence. In particular, a good physician-patient relation maximizes the impact of clinical therapies and reduces psychophysical implications.

International audience; This article proposes a reflection on the impact that some postmodern features can have on the sense of identity and on mental functioning to propose possible explanations for identity changes and new forms of psychopathology. After revisiting the most recent literature on the theme, this study proposes a clinical consideration for a possible link between new forms of psychopathology and mental suffering. It particularly suggests that the changes observed in affectivity (including increase in dysphoria, irritability, restlessness, boredom, feeling of emptiness) and behaviour (reduction in impulse control ability, in interpersonal skills and reflective function, etc.) are important indices of a bigger change that involves the entire personality and indicates a shifting towards a borderline level of personality functioning. Finally, the article offers a possible explanation for this shift and advances therapeutic questions.

International audience; Many studies showed that adverse childhood experiences may increase the risk of substance abuse. Thirty-two male participants in treatment for substance abuse and thirty-two non clinical subjects were interviewed with Childhood Experience of Care and Abuse (CECA). Subjects with substance addiction had experienced more neglect, physical abuse, psychological abuse, inconsistent supervision and variable discipline compared with their non clinical control (p < 0.05). Furthermore, they were exposed during childhood to a greater number of adverse experiences (p = 0.01) than their control. The study suggests that specific types of adverse childhood experiences can play a key role in the onset of addictive disorders.

Background: Childhood maltreatment is associated with a wide range of problems in adulthood. However, specific environmental factors (either positive or negative) influence mental health outcomes in maltreated children. The present study investigated the effect of environmental factors by comparing a group of clinical participants with experiences of abuse/neglect with a healthy group with similar patterns of experiences. Environmental factors selected were: separation from parents, financial hardship, parental psychiatric disorders, and low social involvement. Method: The study included 55 mixed clinical participants and 23 healthy participants. All participants were investigated using the Childhood Experience of Care and Abuse (CECA) interview. The two groups were specifically matched with regard to patterns of childhood maltreatment. Results: The findings indicated that psychopathological outcome was associated with a greater presence of negative environmental factors (p < 0.001). In particular, lack of social support seemed to be the only one predictor (OR = 27.86). Conclusion: This study is the first to investigate the influence of specific environmental factors in two groups with similar childhood experiences of abuse/neglect but different mental health outcomes. These findings suggest that efforts should be made to incorporate both familial and external sources of social support in promoting mental health for maltreated children.

This study examines job involvement and work engagement as predictors of affective commitment. Specifically, we test the proposal of Hallberg and Schaufeli (2006) that work engagement is a mediator of the relationship between job involvement and affective commitment using a survey of 405 Italian working adults. To test the model, mediation effects technique and structural equation modelling were applied to the collected data. Our hypothesis that work engagement fully mediates the relationship between job involvement and affective commitment was supported. This is the first study to demonstrate the importance of job involvement in promoting affective commitment via three dimensions of work engagement. We therefore assert that HR managers should direct their available resources to promoting job involvement and work engagement in their employees.

International audience; Historical studies about the involvement of Italian scientists—and mathematicians in particular—in World War I are very few. We use several published and unpublished letters, reports, and documents in order to give a picture (although incomplete) of Italian mathematicians' role in the Great War. In the period from August 1914 to May 1915, before Italy entered the war, mathematicians partook to debates concerning intervention and expressed a full range of different opinions. During the war Italian scientists were generally involved in the war as " citizens " defending their country. Vito Volterra and Mauro Picone are two exceptions. They were strongly involved at both scientific and institutional levels: Volterra founded the Office for Inventions and Research (Ufficio Invenzioni e Ricerche, UIR) and Picone created a computing bureau for ballistics attached to the Sixth Army. Their war work was fundamental for the development of closer links among scientific research, industry , and society, and led them to found two long–lasting institutions in the postwar period, the National Research Council (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, CNR) and the Institute for the Application of Computing (Istituto per le Applicazioni del Calcolo, IAC).

International audience; When Italian bene ‘good / well’ occurs with fare ‘do / make’, several constructs with remarkably different argument frames are involved. This paper deals with three of them: (a) Il latte fa bene ai bambini ‘Milk is good for children’; (b) Fa bene il suo lavoro ‘She does her job well’, and (c) Faresti bene a non dire niente ‘You would do well to say nothing about it’. We discuss dictionary discrepancies concerning the lexical category of 'bene' in (a), which we take to be a noun predicate, and draw a distinction between the adverbial uses in (b) and (c).

Restavano pochi territori liberi, fra cui la Libia, la cui conquista era considerata, dal governo Giolitti – in crescente difficoltà per gli effetti della crisi economica internazionale del 1907-'08 – capace di superare la " stagnazione ". Nel 1911, tutti i paesi industriali avevano portato il protezionismo a un livello di semi-autarchia. Già fin dal 1908, tutte le potenze che avrebbero partecipato all'ormai imminente conflitto mondiale per una nuova spartizione del mondo erano impegnate nella produzione di guerra. Lo sviluppo industriale italiano era notevolmente rallentato. L'urgenza di trovare nuovi sbocchi si imponeva come una condizione di sopravvivenza per i grandi gruppi finanziari e industriali. La guerra di Libia – dal 29 settembre 1911 al 18 ottobre 1912 – fu decisa sotto le pressioni dei gruppi industriali e bancari interessati alle forrniture militari e a investimenti nel Levante e in Libia. Mai come durante la guerra libica, la compenetrazione fra politica governativa e iniziative economiche fu più stretta. Uomini d'affari, politici e funzionari statali, alti esponenti della marina militare e dell'esercito condussero assieme le operazioni di maggiore interesse economico. È significativo che, a guerra finita, i negoziati di pace con la Turchia siano stati affidati per l'Italia a Giuseppe Volpi (poi conte di Misurata), non un diplomatico di carriera, ma uomo d'affari 1. Giocando la carta del " prestigio internazionale " , Giolitti e i gruppi dominanti scatenarono una intensa campagna di propaganda tendente ad allargare il consenso e alimentare l'entusiasmo, nel corso della quale la Libia venne presentata come una terra fertile, ricca d'acqua, di commerci carovanieri e di miniere; una " terra promessa " in grado di assorbire la disoccupazione italiana che, nei primi dieci anni del secolo, aveva portato all'emigrazione milioni di lavoratori. In realtà la Libia era una regione immensa, sabbiosa, povera (il petrolio verrà scoperto solo dopo il 1950) e poco popolata. I motivi propagandistici agitati dai nazionalisti e dai circoli colonialisti, e ripresi da quasi tutta la stampa alla vigilia dell'impresa, sono riassunti, a ostilità iniziate, da Giovanni Pascoli nel famoso discorso La grande Proletaria si è mossa: la 1 Era però assistito da due esperti giuristi e politici, Pietro Bertolini e Guido Fusinato. Quest'ultimo morirà suicida subito dopo lo scoppio della Grande Guerra, per l'angoscia di vedere l'Italia venir meno – con la scelta della neutralità – al " debito d'onore " nei confronti della Triplice, e per la consapevolezza dell'impreparazione bellica del Paese, che costituiva comunque un insormontabile impedimento al suo intervento immediato nel conflitto.

Ici, je vais employer le terme ‘structure’ dans la signification générale, rappelée par Christian Puech dans son Introduction, de “système de systèmes de valeurs”. L’idée que les langues sont des systèmes de systèmes de valeurs ne nait ni avec Saussure ni avec Troubetskoy ou Jakobson. Il s’agit d’un point de vue qui est apparu plusieurs fois dans l’histoire de la pensée et qui, pourtant, autant de fois a été oublié. Je vais donner quelques-unes des preuves qui montrent qu’Aristote a été parmi les premiers à penser que la langue verbale est justement un système de systèmes de valeurs.

International audience; A più di trent'anni dalla cosiddetta legge Basaglia (1978), qual è il panorama delle comunità residenziali in Italia? Quali sono le indicazioni cliniche per questo specifico metodo di cura? Il volume risponde a tali interrogativi, proponendo un'analisi aggiornata indispensabile per affrontare la complessità dei problemi delle comunità residenziali che ospitano soggetti con difficoltà psichiche gravi. L'ottica psicodinamica si articola con quella psicosociale in un modello di cura che integra il gruppo dei residenti e quello dei curanti, in collaborazione con le famiglie e i servizi territoriali e sociali. Viene proposta una strumentazione terapeutica che si differenzia a seconda della patologia, dell'età evolutiva, dei livelli di protezione e si approfondiscono i fondamentali fattori clinico-riabilitativi e organizzativi (procedure di invio e dimissioni, leadership, lavoro di gruppo e con la famiglia, modelli formativi e di gestione della crisi, inserimento esterno dei residenti). Grande rilievo è dato al processo di valutazione attraverso nuovi strumenti di verifica dell'efficacia e al confronto tra comunità. International audience; Research is currently moving in the direction of an integration between the outcome measures of the patients and the relational and/or structural factors that can facilitate their change.It is increasingly important to focus studies on the relationship between process and outcome, especially with regard to psychodynamic group therapy. These treatments, very complex and difficult to operationalize, still pose critical questions for research such as what are the main elements of the therapeutic process that are activated in these therapies?Many efforts are to be made in understanding which factors develop in groups and the condi-tions that positively influence the success of therapy.Important is, moreover, the work of conceptual and "operational" depth on the different con-structs, to better understand their nature and differences and build tools to more easily detect their features.Therapeutic alliance and cohesion are among the most investigated process variables, because of their role on the results of therapy.This study investigates these two variables in a therapeutic group with severe patients and ana-lyzes their associations with treatment outcomes in term of symptoms and defenses.A long-term, semi-open group meeting on a weekly basis was examined. The observation was carried out for a period of 18 months, for a total amount of 50 sessions; 11 patients with dif-ferent diagnoses in Axis I and II DSM IV were examined.Outcome measures: SCL-90 - Symptom Check List; OQ-45 - Outcome Questionnaire 45.2; DSQ - Defense Style Questionnaire.Process measures: CALPAS-G: California Psychotherapy Alliance Scale-Group; GMLCS: Group/Member/Leader Cohesion Scale.The observation period was divided into 3 phases according to re-modulations of the setting (new entries, overcomes, dropout).Significant correlations between alliance, cohesion and outcomes were found in the three phases. During the phase of greater instability, the predominant role of cohesion and, more generally, dimensions related to group commitment emerge.Results offer interesting suggestions about the differentiation between Alliance and Cohesion and their different relationship with outcomes and process evolution.; Questo lavoro esplora, in un gruppo terapeutico con pazienti gravi, due tra le variabili di processo più indagate nelle terapie di gruppo, l’alleanza terapeutica e la coesione, analizzandone le associazioni con gli esiti del trattamento in termini di sintomi e difese.E’ stato esaminato un gruppo a lungo termine, semi-aperto, a cadenza settimanale. L’osservazione si è svolta per un periodo di 18 mesi, per un totale di 50 sedute. Sono stati mo-nitorati 11 soggetti che riportavano diverse diagnosi nell’Asse I e II del DSM IV. TRGli strumenti di esito usati sono stati l’SCL-90: Symptom Check List; l’ OQ-45: Outcome Question-naire 45.2; e il DSQ: Defense Style Questionnaire.Mentre per rilevare il processo abbiamo utilizzato la CALPAS-G: California Psychotherapy Allian-ce Scale-Group version; e la GMLCS: Group/ Member/Leader Cohesion Scale.Il periodo di osservazione è stato suddiviso in tre fasi, in funzione delle rimodulazioni del setting (nuovi ingressi, uscite e drop out).Come primo accenno possiamo dire di avere rilevato correlazioni significative tra alleanza, coe-sione ed esiti nelle tre fasi. Nella fase di maggiore “instabilità”, sembra emergere il ruolo pre-dominante della coesione e più in generale delle dimensioni legate all’impegno (commitment) ver-so il gruppo.I risultati della ricerca offrono anche interessanti indicazioni riguardo alla differenziazione tra Alleanza e Coesione, e al loro diverso legame con gli esiti e con le evoluzioni del processo te-rapeutico.Come sappiamo, la ricerca attuale si muove in direzione di una integrazione tra le misure di esi-to dei pazienti e i fattori relazionali/strutturali che possono facilitare il loro cambiamento.Gli studi ci indicano anche che è sempre più importante focalizzare l’attenzione sulla relazione tra processo ed esiti, anche nelle terapie di gruppo psicodinamiche.E necessario sottolineare tuttavia, che questi trattamenti sono molto complessi e difficili da o-perazionalizzare e pongono alla ricerca interrogativi complessi su come misurare e quantificare i principali elementi del processo terapeutico. Su questo fronte molti sforzi devono essere an-cora fatti se si vuole capire quali fattori si sviluppano nei gruppi e quali condizioni influenzano positivamente l’esito della psicoterapia stessa. Si capisce quindi come sia importante il lavoro di approfondimento concettuale e “operazionale” sui diversi costrutti, se si vuole comprenderne meglio la natura e le differenze e costruire strumenti in grado di coglierne più efficacemente le caratteristiche.La riflessione e lo studio proposti in questo lavoro vogliono essere un contributo in questa direzione.

International audience; The Italian translation and adaptation of The Service Standards for Therapeutic Communities for Children and Young People 2nd Edition. Edited by Community of Communities - John O’Sullivan & Sarah Paget The translation is the result of a joint work of the major Italian Associations involved in therapeutic communities for children and residential services for children and adolescents and a group of researcher at University of Palermo. It was now edited in Italy by A. Feruta, G. Foresti, M. Vigorelli on the handbook “Le comunità terapeutiche” (2012). In particular, the work of adapting the Community of Communities standards to the Italian culture has been developed through a comparison between the TC members of “Mito & Realtà” Association (past Presidents has been Enrico Pedriali and Giovanni Foresti and now leaded by Marta Vigorelli), particularly four TC “Rosa dei Venti”, “Gruppo Calimero”, “Lo Scarabocchio, “I Delfini”“, in the improvement group meetings at the Hospital “Niguarda Ca' Grande” in Milano, and some Sicilian Communities for children, in the supervision meetings conducted, by Raffaele Barone and Simone Bruschetta, within the activities of the “Laboratorio di Grouppoanalisi” Association. Associations Mito&Realtà, Il Nodo Group, TCTC (the new organization of the Association for Therapeutic Communities - London) and “Rosa dei venti” have realized in Italy a workhsop “learning living”, leaded by R.Hinselwood and Luca Mingarelli, that is part and item of the Manual. University of Palermo and Professor Francesca Giannone, with the help of Cinzia Guarnaccia, Isabella Giuliano and Olivia Marchese, have also realized a questionnaire based on the items of the Manual and are improving the assessment practice of TC by this questionnaire. The associations Mito&Realtà, Laboratorio di Gruppoanalisi and AIRSAM (Italian Association of Residence/resources for Mental Health – past President Raffaele Barone and Angelo Malinconico and now leaded by Marco D’Alema), are developing a joint programof peer accreditation of therapeutic communities and housing communities for children and adolescents, leaded by Simone Bruschetta and Francesca Giannone, on the model of the Community of Communities, in which will be used the standard translation and the questionnaire realized at University of Palermo. We have tried to remain as faithful as possible to the Community of Communities clinical sense, organizational and psychodynamic statements, while still trying to locate the huge experience behind the philosophy of the therapeutic community in the socio-political Italian context. In Italy, health work is heavily regulated within public institutions with their own competences that cover specific administrative services, different types of users and particular territorial areas. Especially in the health services to childhood, the institutional and legal powers that law administration attaches to families, public schools, social services of territorial competence and local health authorities, require an articulated taking charge, involving all these institutions, which is often added to the Juvenile Court of Justice, with its almost limitless powers of decree. For this reason, in chapter 5.4. of list (collaborating), we proposed two additional items (5.4.3 and 5.4.4), to 5.4.1 and 5.4.2, to better define the design mode of the clinical taking care by communities in Italian context and culture. These are the only items added to the text. Il Community of Communities, in questi dieci anni di attività, ha costruito un network scientifico-professionale fondato su di una sere di programmi di miglioramento di qualità e di accreditamento tra pari e sviluppato dal College Centre for Quality Improvement (CCQI) del Royal College of Psychiatrist, che rappresenta una delle più importanti matrici socio-organizzative delle Best Practices sviluppate a livello internazionale sulle Comunità Terapeutiche. International audience; In questo articolo sono presentate le procedure di validazione e le caratteristiche psicometriche della versione italiana dell’intervista Childhood Experience of Care and Abuse (CECA; Bifulco et al. 1994). La CECA è un’intervista retrospettiva semistrutturata, somministrabile a partire dai 16 anni di età, che misura le esperienze vissute nell’infanzia e nell’adolescenza. La CECA risulta particolarmente nota nella letteratura internazionale, dove è considerata il criterio gold standard per la rilevazione delle esperienze di cura e di abuso vissute in età infantile e adolescenziale: essa viene comunemente utilizzata nella pratica psicologica e psichiatrica, oltre che nella ricerca clinica e psicosociale. Per verificare validità, attendibilità e caratteristiche psicometriche della versione italiana della CECA, dopo l’adattamento linguistico l’intervista è stata somministrata a 100 soggetti appartenenti alla popolazione normale italiana di età compresa tra i 19 e i 50 anni. Le analisi statistiche effettuate su questo gruppo hanno dimostrato che la versione italiana della CECA è altamente attendibile, con un grado di accordo tra valutatori misurata attraverso K di Cohen che va da 0,66 a 1, e coefficienti di correlazione intraclasse (ICC) per le scale ordinali compresi tra 0,85 e 0,94. Le analisi statistiche hanno altresì dimostrato una buona validità di costrutto: i valori di associazione tra le scale della CECA risultano significativi, e l’analisi fattoriale esplorativa (EFA) ha evidenziato una struttura bifattoriale per le scale relative alla mancanza di cure e all’abuso che risulta fortemente coerente con il costrutto indagato e che spiega oltre il 57% della varianza campionaria. La validità convergente della versione italiana della CECA è dimostrata dalle associazioni significative tra le scale della CECA e le scale del Parental Bonding Instrument (PBI; Parker et al 1979). Ulteriori indicatori positivi di validità convergente, concorrente e predittiva, coerenti con quelli riscontrati nella validazione originale inglese dello strumento, sono discussi nell’articolo. La versione italiana della CECA risulta dunque uno strumento valido e affidabile, basato su rilevazioni sensibili e specifiche per il contesto evolutivo e le esperienze di cura ricevute nell’infanzia, che può essere utilizzato proficuamente in contesti clinici e di ricerca.[:en]This article presents the validation and test for psychometric properties of the Italian version of the Childhood Experience of Care and Abuse interview (CECA; Bifulco et al. 1994). The CECA interview is a retrospective semi-structured interview, administered to adults and adolescents above age 16, that measures adverse experiences in childhood and adolescence. The CECA is well known in the international literature, where it is considered the “gold standard” for investigating the experiences of care and abuse in childhood and adolescence: it is commonly used within psychological and psychiatric practice, as well as in clinical and psychosocial research. To test the validity, the reliability and the psychometric properties of the Italian version of the CECA, after its translation and linguistic validation, the CECA was administered to 100 respondents aged between 19 and 50 years old from an Italian community sample. Statistical analyses show that the Italian version of the CECA is high on inter-rater reliability with a Cohen’s K agreement of 0.66 to 1, and intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) ranging from .85 to .94. Statistical analyses also confirmed CECA’s construct validity: statistically significant associations were found between related CECA scales, and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) revealed a bifactorial structure for the scales on lack of care versus abuse, consistent with the investigated construct and explaining over 57% of the sample variance. The convergent validity of the Italian version of the CECA was demonstrated through the presence of significant associations between the CECA scales and the Parental Bonding Instrument scales (PBI; Parker et al. 1979). Other positive indicators of convergent, concurrent and predictive validity are discussed in the article consistent with the original UK validation. In summary, the Italian version of the CECA is a valid and reliable instrument, with the requisite sensitivity and specificity for investigating adverse developmental environments and the experiences of care during childhood: it can be profitably used in clinical and research settings.[:]

We compare the E', H(I) and Si-ODC(II) contents in a low-OH high-purity a-SiO2 either in bulk or fibre forms. We found that the H(I) centre appears during irradiation and tend to increase with the dose if the fibre contains hydrogen excess. This behaviour is believed to be one the possible reason to explain the apparent radiation-sensitivity enhancement in the blue-UV spectrum when the fibre is hydrogenated and irradiated at high dose. However for the hydrogen-treated fibres, no experimental repeatability could be evidenced in the measurements of E' and Si-ODC(II) although an acceptable agreement was still found in normal samples. This suggests a possible complex reactional mechanisms in presence of gamma radiation when the glass has a hydrogen excess.

International audience; Tullio Levi-Civita was one of the most important Italian mathematicians in the early part of the 20th century, contributing significantly to a number of research fields in mathematics and physics. In addition, he was involved in the social and political life of his time and suffered severe political and racial persecution during the period of Fascism. He tried repeatedly and in several cases successfully to help colleagues and students who were victims of anti-Semitism in Italy and Germany. His scientific and private life is well documented in the letters and documents contained in his Archive. The authors' aim is to illustrate the events of his life by means of his large and remarkable correspondence.; Tullio Levi-Civita fu uno dei più importanti matematici italiani della prima parte del ventesimo secolo e contribuì in modo significativo a numerose discipline in campo matematico e fisico. Inoltre, egli partecipò alla vita sociale e politica del suo tempo e fu vittima delle severe persecuzioni politiche e razziali del periodo fascista. Egli tentò in più occasioni, e talvolta con successo, ad aiutare colleghi e studenti che erano vittime dell'anti-semitismo sia in Italia sia in Germania. La sua vita scientifica e personale è ben documentata nelle lettere e nei manoscritti contenuti nel suo Archivio. Lo scopo degli autori è di illustrare i fatti salienti della sua vita facendo uso della sua ampia e notevole corrispondenza.

International audience; Far from being a mere production-oriented mission, competition among companies has to be considered as a much wider concept, largely based on effective supply chain management. Implementing suitable supply chain strategies is indeed crucial for enterprises seeking to strengthen their own position in the market against their competitors. With this recognition, one of the main issue in the logistic field is the suppliers and orders management, that is a complex decision-making problem depending on a wide set of aspects mutually correlated and often conflicting each other. This is the reason why assuming a Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) perspective is useful to deal with the topic of interest. In particular, the present paper is aimed at sorting out a real world case study about distributing and dispatching orders, through a MCDM approach based on the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). On the one hand, this method is proposed to prioritise the vehicles used to transfer orders, by taking into account criteria such as pallet capacity, tailgate presence, energy type and so on. On the other hand, a final ranking of orders to be delivered will be achieved under the evaluation of aspects such as loading/unloading time, kind of vehicle and driver, among others. Final results will be helpful to establish a degree of priority in assigning orders to vehicles and their robustness will be checked by performing a sensitivity analysis on criteria weights.
