Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is expressed in most prostate cancers and PSMA-directed radioligand therapy (RLT) with Lutetium-177 (Lu-177) PSMA is promising systemic modality, which involves the delivery of targeted radiation therapy in the form of β-particles to sites of tumour tissue. Although, Lu-177 PSMA RLT has been recently introduced for castration-resistant metastatic prostate cancer (CRMPC), has continuously increasing interest and use in many centers. Therapy is well tolerated with relatively few side effects and has a positive effect on overall survival and quality of life. The purpose of this guideline is to assist nuclear medicine specialists in evaluating and managing patients with RCMPC for whom RLT using Lu-177 PSMA as an “unproven intervention in clinical practice”, in accordance with the best currently available knowledge.

Yttrium-90 microsphere therapy, which has become more common in recent years, offers an effective and safe radionuclide treatment option in the treatment of primary and metastatic liver tumors. The success of the treatment is directly related to the multidisciplinary approach of Nuclear Medicine and Interventional Radiology specialists, correct patient selection and personalized treatment approach. This guideline has been prepared to guide current applications of Y-90 microsphere therapy.

Skeletal system is the most common metastasis site in patients with advanced cancer. Pain is an important health problem in patients with bone metastasis. Bone seeking radionuclides to treat bone pain due to bone metastasis in patients with advanced stage cancer can be used in selected group of cancer patients. In this review, evaluating patients who might be candidates for radionuclide treatment of bone metastases using β -emitting radionuclides such as Strontium-89, Samarium-153 lexidronam, Rhenium-186-HEDP, Rhenium-188-HEDP, Holmium-166, Phosphor-32 sodium phosphate, Lutetium-177 ethylenediaminetetramethylene phosphonic acid and α-emmiting Radium-223, performing the treatments; and understanding and evaluating the treatment outcome and side effects.

Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) have been successfully used for the past 20 years to target metastatic or inoperable neuroendocrine tumors expressing the somatostatin receptors. Both prospective and retrospective studies indicate that patients receiving PRRT show significantly high objective responses, leading to longer survival and improved quality of life. PRRT is generally well tolerated, with acceptable hematological toxicity profiles. Nephrotoxicity is dose-limiting with Y-90 labelled peptides and not with Lu-177. The majority of centers use standard protocols based on fixed activities, at most modulating the activity or the number of administrations based on the patient clinical scenario and risk factors. This guidance covers the rationale, indications and contraindications for PRRNT, assessment of treatment response and patient follow-up. This practical guidance is aimed at guiding nuclear medicine specialists in delivering the treatment in a safe and effective manner.

Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are one of the rare cancers that have been increasing in recent years. The importance of Ga-68 DOTA-Conjugated Peptides Receptor imaging has been reported in many retrospective and prospective studies in the diagnosis and clinical management of NETs. Three different somatostatin analogues labeled Ga-68 are used in clinical practice. The most commonly used Ga-68 DOTA-Conjugated Peptides are DOTA-D-Phe-Tyr3-octreotide (DOTA-TOC), DOTA-1-NaI (3)- octreotide (DOTA-NOC) and DOTA-D-Phe-Tyr3-octreotate (DOTA-TATE) in rutin. Although all these radiopeptides bind to sst-r 2, each has different affinity profiles for other sst-r subtypes. Performed related studies have shown that the compound with the highest affinity for somatostatin receptor 2 (sst-r 2), which is most frequently expressed in NETs, is DOTA-TATE. Ga-68 DOTA-bound somatostatin receptor (sst-r) PET/CT is used in the preoperative staging of NETs, determination of treatment response, restaging, showing somatostatin receptor uptake before peptide receptor radionuclide treatment. This guideline, mainly for nuclear medicine physicians contains recommendations in terms of procedure, reporting and interpretation in order to standardize Ga-68 DOTA conjugated peptid PET/CT imaging in NETs.

Our aim was to determine the correlation of a well differentiated thyroid carcinoma with gender and age. Our retrospective study evaluated 736 patients received ablation therapy between 2008 and 2011, consisted of 600 females and 136 males. The rate of female to male was 4,4/1 in differentiated thyroid carcinoma. Our patients aged between 14 to 89 during the diagnosis with a mean age of 46,9±12,8. The mean diagnosis age was 47,2±13,1 for females, while 46,1±13,3 for males. Papillary carcinoma was found as the most common type of tumor with 87% and the second common type was follicular carcinoma with 11%. In all type of thyroid cancers female patients were more than males. There was not any statistically significant difference between the mean diagnosis age for follicular thyroid cancer and for papillary thyroid cancer., Çalışmamızın amacı, iyi diferansiye tiroid karsinomunun yaş ve cinsiyetle ilişkisini saptamak, hastalığın mortalite ve morbiditesini etkileyen risk faktörlerini ve bunların birbirleriyle ilişkilerini ortaya koymaktır. 2008-2011 yılları arasında ablasyon tedavisi alan iyi diferansiye tiroid kanserli 600'ü kadın, 136'sı erkek toplam 736 hasta retrospektif çalışmada değerlendirilmiştir. Kadın/erkek oranı tüm diferansiye tiroid karsinomunda 4,4/1 olarak bulunmuştur. Hastalarımızın tanı yaşları 14-89 yaş arasında dağılım göstermekte olup ortalama tanı yaşı 46,9±12,8 yıldır. Ortalama tanı yaşı bayan hastalarda 47,2±13,1 iken erkek hastalarda 46,1±13,3 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Tümör tipleri içinde %87 ile en yüksek oranda papiller karsinom, ikinci sıklıkta %11 ile foliküler karsinom tespit edilmiştir. Tiroid kanseri tüm tiplerinde kadın hasta sayısı erkek hasta sayısından yüksek olarak saptanmıştır. Papiller veya folliküler histolojik tipte tiroid karsinomu ile tanı yaşı arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmamıştır.
