Materials and Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 144 patients with disease recurrence; 73 had recurrence more than 5 years after radical nephrectomy. We compared clinicopathological characteristics in patients with disease recurrence before vs. after 5 years. In addition, we investigated predictors of survival and response to treatment after recurrence. Results: Seventy-one patients (49%) were diagnosed with recurrence within 5 years after radical nephrectomy (early recurrence) and 73 patients (51%) were diagnosed with recurrence more than 5 years after radical nephrectomy (late recurrence). e12646 Background: Colorectal cancers (CRC) have become the 3rd most common cancer in Turkey with increasing incidence over the years. Studies investigating the clinical and biologic features of CRC Turkey are small retrospective case series providing limited information. We initiated a Turkish National CRC Registry program in October 2012 to define clinical and pathological variables of CRC. Methods: Pts presenting to medical oncology clinics were prospectively registered in 28 centers nationwide. Pt demographics and clinicopathological characteristics were recorded. Results: 6143 pts (mean age 58.2±12.3) were analyzed (57% males). Mean ages of males were higher (59 vs 57 yrs, p = 0.001). Adenocarcinoma was the most common histology (97.8%). Initial stages at diagnosis: I (5.4%), II (29.6%), III (33.8%) and IV (20.2%), unknown (9.8%). Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı Yale Yeme Bağımlılığı Ölçeğinin Türk bariatrik cerrahi hasta grubunda geçerlilik ve güvenilirliğini incelemektir. Yöntem: Bariatrik cerrahi arayışında olan obez hastalara (s=171) Yale Yeme Bağımlılığı Ölçeği uygulandı. Ölçeğin yapı geçerliliği faktör analizi ile, güvenilirliği madde toplam puan korelasyonu ile, tekrarlanabilirliği ise test-tekrar test sonuçları arasında sınıf içi korelasyon katsayısı hesaplanılarak değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Yirmi beş maddeli ölçeğin Kuder-Richardson Formula-20 katsayısı ile hesaplanan iç tutarlılığı (KR-20=0.822) ve Cronbach alfa (0.859) değerleri yeterli bulundu. Bartlett's Sphericity Testine göre geliştirilen faktör yapısının anlamlı olduğu kararına varıldı. Faktör analizine göre altı belirgin faktör olarak kümelenen bu yapı total varyansın %67.51'ini açıklıyordu. Ölçeğin madde toplam korelasyonları 0.214-0.666 arasında idi. Sonuç: Bulgularımız Yale Yeme Bağımlılığı Ölçeği'nin Türkçe formunun bariatrik cerrahi hasta grubunda yeme bağımlılığını ölçmede güvenilir bir araç olduğunu göstermektedir. (Anadolu Psikiyatri Derg 2015; 16(Özel sayı.1):44-53), Objective: The aim of this study was to examine validity and reliability of Turkish version of Yale Food Addiction Scale (YFAS) among Turkish bariatric surgery patients. Methods: The YFAS scale was administered to obese patients (n=171) who were seeking or underwent bariatric surgery. Construct validity of the scale was evaluated with factor analysis and reliability was evaluated with item -total score correlation and repeatability were tested by intraclass correlation (ICC) analysis between test-retest results. Results: Internal concistency was found adequate Kuder-Richardson Formula 20 coefficient (KR-20) 0.822, and Cronbach's alpha 0.859 for the entire 25-item YFAS. As Bartlett's Test of Sphericity was significant, the factor model developed in the present study was decided appro priate. Factor analysis extracted six factor in Turkish YFAS that explained for 67.51% of the total variance. Item total correlation coefficients of scale ranged from 0.214-0.666. Conclusion: Our findings support the use of the Turkish YFAS as a reliable measure of food addiction among bariatric surgery patients. Introduction: Urinary incontinence impacts the lives of older individuals and it is considered one of the most important and recurrent geriatric syndromes. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of urinary incontinence in cancer patients and to evaluate its association with age and quality of life. Method: One hundred and thirty three patients with cancer were assessed at hematology/oncology outpatient clinic. The validated form of the Turkish version of the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form was used to evaluate urinary incontinence and quality of life (QOL). Descriptive statistics were used. The association between urinary incontinence and age, gender, cancer type and quality of life were evaluated with chi square. Results: A total of 133 patients including 84 male and 49 female were evaluated. The mean age of patients was 62.5±12.3. While 45.9% of patients are older than 65, 54.1% of them are less than 64. Background: Soft tissue sarcomas (STSs) are rare malignant tumors of embryogenic mesoderm origin. Primary thoracic STSs account for a small percentage of all STSs and limited published information is available. This study aimed to identify the prognostic factors for thoracic STSs and evaluate the disease's clinical outcomes. Methods: The medical records of 109 patients with thoracic STSs who were treated between 2003 and 2013 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients' survival rates were analyzed and potential prognostic factors evaluated. Results: The median follow-up period was 29 months (range: 1-121 months). STSs were most frequently localized on the chest wall (n = 42; 38.5%) and lungs (n = 42; 38.5%). The most common histological types were malignant fibrous histiocytoma (n = 23; 21.1%), liposarcoma (n = 17; 15.6%), and leiomyosarcoma (n = 16; 14.7%). The median survival time of all patients was 40.3 months (95% confidence interval, 14.22-66.37 months), with one and five-year survival rates of 93.4% and 63.5%, respectively. Univariate analysis of all groups revealed that metastatic stage, unresectability, tumor diameter of >10cm, tumor location other than the chest wall, and grade 3 diseases were predictable of poor survival. However, only grade 3 diseases and tumor location other than the chest wall were confirmed by multivariate analysis as poor prognostic factors. Conclusions: Primary thoracic STSs are rarely seen malignant tumors. Our results indicated that patients with low-grade tumors and those localized on the chest wall often experienced better survival outcomes. © 2014 The Authors.

Background: Large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) of the lung is classified as a variant of large cell lung carcinoma by the World Health Organization, however, the clinical and biological behavior of LCNEC resembles small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) with a high mitotic index and a positivity of tumor cells with neuroendocrine markers. As there have only been a small number of patients with LCNEC recorded in literature, there is no consensus about the management of this subset. In the present study, we evaluated the incidence and prognosis of LCNEC in four oncology centers in Turkey. Method: We analyzed 24 patients with diagnoses of LCNEC from 3138 non-small cell lung cancer patients who were diagnosed and treated between 2008 and 2010 in four different medical oncology centers in Turkey. Results: The median age was 56 (range; 3664) and most patients were male, with three women included in the study. Ten out of 24 patients (41.6%) had locally advanced or metastatic disease, therefore, surgery could not be performed. Five patients (20.8%) were staged with stage I, six (25%) with stage II, five (20.8%) with stage III, and eight (33.3%) with stage IV. All patients had a history of smoking. Nine patients received chemotherapy postoperatively. At the 14.4-month follow-up period (range; 359) the median overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) rates were 32.7 and 9.5 months respectively. Purpose: To assess the safety and efficacy of a gemcitabine plus docetaxel regimen as a second line therapy for patients with advanced soft tissue sarcoma (STS) resistant to doxorubicin and ifosfamide-based therapy. Patients and Methods: Medical records of 64 patients with advanced STS who received gemcitabine plus docetaxel regimen as a second line treatment between May 2006 and June 2011 were examined. All patients had been previously treated with doxorubicin plus ifosfamide-based regimen at first line setting. Patients received gemcitabine 900 mg/m(2) on days one and eight intravenously over 90 minutes, followed by docetaxel 75 mg/m(2) on day eight intravenously over one hour. Cycles were repeated every 3 weeks. Results: The male-to-female ratio was 37/27 and the median age was 44 years (range; 19-67 years). Objective responses were observed in 13 (20.3 %) patients (2 CR, 11 PR) and stable disease in 21 (32.8 %). Total clinical benefit (CR+PR+SD) was observed in 34 (53.1 %). Median overall survival (OS) was 18 months (95% confidence interval (CI):12.1-23.9) and Median time to progression (TTP) was 4.8 months (95% CI: 3.6-6). A total of 243 cycles of chemotherapy were administered. The median number of cycle was 3 (range; 1-11). The most common grade 3-4 hematologic toxicity was neutropenia (35.9 %). The most common nonhematologic toxicities consisted of nausea/vomiting (37.5 %), mucositis (32.8 %), peripheral neuropathy (29.7%), and fatigue (26 %). There was no toxicity-related death. Conclusion: The combination of gemcitabine plus docetaxel is an active and tolerable regimen as a second line therapy for patients with advanced soft tissue sarcoma who have failed doxorubicin and ifosfamide-based therapy.
