Objective: This article aimed to investigate the needs of caregivers of patients with palliative neurological problems and contribute to the solution proposals. Material-method: Phenomenological research design, a qualitative research design, was used in the study. The article was conducted with 16 relatives of patients with palliative neurological problems. The interviews were conducted using face-to-face in-depth semi-structured interview form. Colaizzi's phenomenological analysis method used for the analyse. Results: In the analysis of the data, three categories, eight main themes, and seventeen sub-themes emerged. As a result of the interviews with the participants, the category of the effect of neurological palliative disease on the quality of life of individuals was gathered under three main themes, namely mental, physical, and social effects, and in the process of coping with the disease requiring neurological palliative care, two main themes were identified as emotion-focused coping and problem-focused coping. Conclusion: It was concluded in our study that having a patient in palliative care has psychological, social, and physical effects on the relatives of the patients. The burden of caregiving mostly affects the relatives of patients negatively. Objective: This study aimed to explore the metaphorical perceptions and cognitive structures of Turkish nursing students related to the impact of the global climate crisis on their profession. Methods: Researchers adopted a qualitative approach centered on metaphor analysis and involved 40 Turkish nursing students enrolled in programs in Türkiye during October 2023. Using metaphor analysis and techniques involving writing and drawing, the study uncovered how these students perceive and cognitively structure the influence of the global climate crisis on their nursing careers. The interview form featured the metaphor expression "The reflection of the global climate crisis on nursing is like ... because ...," while the drawing component prompted students to determine their perspectives on the climate crisis's impact on nursing through concept drawings. The research adhered to the COREQ checklist. Results: The study revealed that nursing students generated 22 metaphors each through written and drawing techniques. Written metaphors were grouped into five categories: psychosocial challenges faced by nurses, patient populations, diseases and coping, burdens on the health system, and the growing importance of various fields within nursing. Drawing technique metaphors were grouped into four categories: nurses and the difficulties they face, the impact of the global climate crisis on the world, the impact of the global climate crisis on the healthcare sector, and the roles and responsibilities of nurses. Conclusions: While nursing students expressed diverse opinions, their concerns about the reflection of the global climate crisis on nursing yielded similar emotional responses. Metaphors are mostly focused on psychosocial challenges faced by nurses, the patient population, diseases, and coping mechanisms. ABSTRACT Aim Materials and Methods Results Conclusion The aim of this study is to examine the disaster management experiences and psychosocial problems of individuals who survived the earthquake in Turkey during the earthquake of the century.A qualitative research design, phenomenological research, was applied in this study. This qualitative study included 33 volunteer earthquake survivors. The interviews were conducted using WhatsApp. Colaizzi's phenomenological analysis method was used to analyze the data.In the analysis of the data, five themes (perception of the earthquake concept, things to do during an earthquake, actions taken to survive under the rubble, meeting everyday chores and dealing with post‐earthquake challenges, perceptions of disaster management), and fifteensubthemes (features of the earthquake, emotions, thoughts, correct actions, incorrect actions, actions for the body, situation‐oriented actions, housing, nutrition, hygiene, sleep, security, preparation, coping, and intervention) were identified.The study showed that the earthquake negatively affected individuals psychosocially, but the effective spiritual coping mechanisms utilized to cope with the catastrophic event under the rubble supported the survival process. Aim: This study was conducted to address the experiences of diabetic patients from a psychosocial perspective, examine the burden of disease, and determine their practices for symptom management. Materials and Methods: In this study, a phenomenological research design, a qualitative research design, was used. The study included 20 diabetic patients. Individual and face‐to‐face interviews were performed, and Colaizzi's phenomenological analysis method was used to analyze the data. Results: As a result of the data analysis, four categories (challenges with care and treatment, coping with the disease, effects, and healthy life behaviors) and eleven main themes (knowledge, application, symptoms, support resources, spiritual coping methods, physical coping methods, physical effects, spiritual effects, social effects, physical practices, and psychological practices) emerged. Conclusion: It was concluded that the disease burden of diabetic patients is intense and that the participants of the study were not effective in coping with the disease through symptom management and found spirituality important in coping. ABSTRACT Aim Materials and Methods Findings Conclusion In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the secondary traumatic stress and coping experiences of psychiatric nurses who care for people who have experienced psychological trauma with a phenomenological approach.In this study, semi‐structured in‐depth interviews were conducted with 18 psychiatric nurses residing in Turkey using the phenomenological research method. The criterion sampling method was used to reach the sample group. Interviews continued until data saturation was achieved, and all interviews were audio‐recorded and then transcribed. The data were analysed using thematic analysis. The study was conducted and reported using the COREQ checklist.In the analysis of the data, three themes (difficulties in caring for people who have experienced trauma, the effects of caring for people who have experienced trauma on the individual and coping, reflections of secondary trauma on the profession) and seven sub‐themes (mental, physical, social, psychosocial difficulties and coping, quality of care, professional and organisational aspects) were identified.As a result of the study, it was determined that secondary traumatic stress was observed in psychiatric nurses caring for individuals who experienced psychological trauma. It was determined that caring for people who have experienced psychological trauma can negatively affect nurses psychosocially, and individuals have difficulty coping. The study aimed to evaluate the ethical dilemmas faced by nurses who provide care to patients with hematologic cancer and determine their coping mechanisms using a phenomenological approach. This qualitative study was conducted with 35 nurses employed in clinics specializing in hematologic cancer patient care, living in diverse regions of Turkey, using semistructured, in-depth interviews through the WhatsApp mobile application. The snowball sampling technique was utilized to identify participants, and interviews continued until data saturation was achieved. All interviews were recorded and subsequently transcribed. Data analysis was conducted using Colaizzi's phenomenological analysis method, with the study adhering to the COREQ (Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research) checklist for reporting. In the analysis of the data, 2 categories (ethical dilemma situations and coping experiences) and 6 subthemes (treatment, care, professional values and beliefs, emotions, struggling with emotional burdens, and psychosocial approach) emerged. According to the results, nurses responsible for hematologic cancer patients struggle with ethical dilemmas in healthcare delivery and face challenges in effectively addressing them, which could potentially impact the quality of healthcare provided by nurses. Aim and Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the psychosocial difficulties and life experiences of nurses working in the disaster area following the earthquake on February 6, Kahramanmaraş centered earthquake with a phenomenological approach. Background: After natural disasters such as earthquakes, nurses play a significant role in providing both physical and psychosocial support. Therefore, the experiences of nurses in this field are necessary both to support them and to assist disaster survivors. Materials and Methods: In this study, in which the phenomenological research method was used, semi‐structured in‐depth interviews with 18 nurses who provided health care services during the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquake were conducted between January and February 2024 via Whatsapp mobile application. Snowball sampling method was used to reach the sample group. Interviews continued until data saturation was achieved. All interviews were audio recorded and then transcribed. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The study was conducted and reported according to the COREQ checklist. Results: Data analysis revealed two themes (psychological and social difficulties caused by the earthquake, traumatic stress and coping experiences as a nurse) and five sub‐themes (social difficulties, psychological difficulties, traumatic events, reactions and coping). Conclusion: As a result of the study, it was determined that nurses providing health care services were negatively affected psychosocially by the traumatic stress situations they experienced in the earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6. It was determined that nurses had great difficulty in coping with the traumatic stress situations they experienced. Objective: This study aimed to deeply examine the quality-of-life perceptions and experiences of individuals with depersonalization disorder. Material-Method: The study was conducted with 13 individuals diagnosed with depersonalization disorder using phenomenological research design, which is a qualitative research design. Interviews were conducted individually and face-to-face using semi-structured forms. The data were analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological analysis method. Results: In the analysis of the data, two categories, nine main themes, and twenty-one sub-themes emerged. These are the categories of "effects of depersonalization on the individual" and "quality of life perceptions". The category of the effects of depersonalization on the individual was examined under three sub-themes as mental, physical, and social effects. Individuals with depersonalization disorder experience feelings of hopelessness/despair, depression, sadness, loneliness, and dream/simulation. The diagnosis of depersonalization disorder was determined to cause many adverse conditions like internalized stigmatization and social isolation. In addition, individuals with depersonalization disorder experience problems in daily life activities, which impair their perception of quality of life. Conclusion: Individuals with depersonalization disorder experience psychosocial problems, their daily life activities are negatively affected, and their perception of quality of life is low. Objective: This study was conducted to develop an attitude scale towards regular medication use of individuals with chronic diseases. Method: A draft scale consisting of 22 items and two sub-dimensions (awareness and acceptance) prepared by the researchers in the form of 5-point Likert in line with the literature was used as a data collection tool. The draft scale was submitted to the evaluation of expert opinions and as a result of the evaluation, the 10-item draft scale was used as a data collection tool. The draft scale was applied to 151 patients with chronic diseases living in Turkey via Google Form. The data were analysed using SPSS 23 and AMOS 22 package programs. Findings: In line with the validity and reliability studies, confirmatory factor analysis was performed and the two-factor scale structure was confirmed. According to the results of the analysis, the 'Attitude Scale for Regular Medication Use of Individuals with Chronic Diseases' consisted of two sub-dimensions and 10 items. The factor loads of the scale items were found to be between 0.573-0.863 and the item total score correlations were found to be between 0.415-0.777. Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.866 and the content validity index of the items was found to be 0.831. Conclusion: As a result of the validity and reliability analyses of the Attitudes Towards Regular Medication Use of Individuals with Chronic Diseases Scale, it was determined that it can be used as a valid and reliable scale in individuals with chronic diseases. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the perspectives of senior nursing students taking psychiatric nursing courses on working as psychiatric nurses and the factors affecting them using a qualitative phenomenological approach. Material-Method: In this study, phenomenological research design, which is a qualitative research design, was used. This qualitative research was conducted with 67 volunteer nursing students. Interviews were conducted individually and face-to-face. The data were analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological analysis method. Findings: In the analysis of the data, three categories (emotions experienced during practice, difficulties experienced during practice, thoughts about psychiatric nursing) and eight sub-themes (positive emotions, negative emotions, communication, knowledge, stigma, time, characteristics of a nurse and characteristics of the profession) were identified. Conclusion: It was determined that although nursing students stated that psychiatric nursing is a difficult profession, they consider it as a profession with high professional satisfaction when it is performed in accordance with nursing care standards. Background: Cultural beliefs significantly shape societal attitudes toward mental illness, and these social attitudes profoundly impact help-seeking behaviors. Therefore, it is important to focus on understanding and addressing these social behaviors. Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of chronic mental illness interpretations based on culture and religious beliefs on non-medical help-seeking behaviors among patients in Türkiye. Methods: The study was conducted from September to October 2023 using an inductive qualitative approach. In-depth face-to-face interviews were carried out with individuals diagnosed with chronic mental illness and their relatives, registered in a state-owned Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) in Türkiye. Using purposive sampling, 13 individuals who met the criteria were interviewed. Thematic analysis was used to identify themes. Results: Three main themes and eight sub-themes were identified, including the reasons for seeking non-medical help (psychological challenges, subjective norms, physical requirements), factors contributing to seeking non-medical help (predisposing factors, enabling factors, and myths), and reflections on the benefits of non-medical practices (perceived physical benefits, perceived psychological benefits). Conclusions: It was concluded that individuals with chronic mental illness and their relatives living in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Türkiye engaged in non-medical help-seeking behaviors and mostly turned to traditional religious practices. Culture and religious beliefs emerged as primary factors leading patients to seek non-medical treatment approaches. Consequently, there is a perceived need to explore non-medical alternative methods across various mental health settings and with diverse samples in future research endeavors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study was conducted to determine the effects of psychosocial interventions on social functioning and anger levels in forensic psychiatry patients. Data for this meta-analysis study were gathered by searching databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, EBSCOhost, Google Scholar, and YÖK Thesis Center, without any year restriction, from September to December 2023. After a thorough review, 12 studies were deemed appropriate for the analysis. The findings of this meta-analysis indicate that psychosocial treatments administered to forensic psychiatry patients led to an increase in their level of social functioning (SMD: 0.513, 95% CI: 0.072 – 0.995; Z = 2.280; p <.05) and a decrease in their level of anger (SMD: −0.701, 95% CI: −1.301 to −0.100;Z = −2.287; p <.05). It was also observed that the effectiveness of the psychosocial intervention was not influenced by the type of psychotherapy, the country where the study was conducted, or the duration of the treatment. AimDesignMethodsResultsConclusionThis study aimed to assess the lived experiences of adolescent pregnant young women, with a specific focus on the psychosocial aspect of adolescent pregnancy, using a phenomenological approach.Employing the phenomenological research method, semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted between 3 August and 18 August 2023 with 15 young women (mean age = 21.86 years; SD = 1.06) living in a province in eastern Turkey who had undergone adolescent pregnancy 3–5 years before.The criterion sampling method, a form of purposive sampling, was used to form the sample group. Interviews were carried out until data saturation was reached. All interviews were recorded and transcribed, and thematic analysis was utilised to analyse the data. The study adhered to the COREQ checklist for reporting.Through data analysis, three main categories (reflections on adolescent pregnancy, challenges due to adolescent pregnancy, and effects of adolescent pregnancy) and nine sub-themes (emotions, roles and responsibilities, perception of social support, cognitive, emotional, behavioural, mental, physical, and social) emerged.Our study highlights the adverse psychosocial impact of adolescent pregnancy on young women. Young women who got married at an early age before attaining full physical, social, and psychological maturity grappled with the substantial burdens of adolescent pregnancy and adjusting to their new roles. The study’s implications are significant, emphasising the necessity of addressing the psychosocial facets of adolescent marriage and pregnancy, and gaining valuable insights for the future.
